bioniclepluslotr
What's the general consensus about store exclusive sets? Personally, I really like them because it;s kind of like a treasure hunt for people who want to get all the figures. And also because I have all the major stores within a few mile radius of my house. Also, Lego.com exclusives are even more valuable and feels better to own.But I know that some people don't have TRU's or Walmarts nearby and might not like them. Also, what if they had mail-in promotions where if you collect all 6 canister sets and mail in proof of purchase you get a special special set? It sounds fun tho.
Element Lord of Milk
Meh. I don't think they're good (Having something in only one place is ever good for a customer) but I don't think they're bad either (I've got both TRUs and Wal-Marts near me) As for mail-in stuff, I could get on board with that. Though actually mailing it in seems kind of archaic, maybe something like the Kanoka codes of old (Specifically the 04-05 ones where they weren't just on the outside of the box) Maybe have a unique code for every individual set instead of just having leet speak versions that are global for all instances of the set. dotcom
Huh...we haven't had a contraction store exclusive since like. 2010. Geez. Hm. Well, in general, they can be cool. Since they're usually side characters they tend to not have as many new parts, but make up for it with lots of recolors, which are always nice. Actually getting them can be a pain if you don't have the store nearby, or if (as was the case with Icarax) TRU raises the price. But as for the sets themselves, they're ok.
Manterax Prime
Store exclusives are fine. Regional and online exclusives however, that concept can be crumpled up, shredded and burned by any company that currently practices it. *looking at LEGO, Hasbro and Mattel* 4 Quote Tired of broken BIONICLE sets? Toa Smoke Monster
I don't know how I feel about them. on the one hand, I have a Wal-Mart and Target not too far from my house. Not to mention a Lego store about thirty minutes away from my house as well. So I don't think that they bother me personally at all. However, I do understand that they can be a pain for those who don't have any of the stores that sell exclusive sets near them. So I would say that I would rather have all sets sold at whatever store sold them, and not have exclusives to begin with. That way, everyone at least has a better chance at getting the set. Pomegranate
I guess they're alright, I'm biased since I can get my hands on anything without too much trouble I suppose they're really kinda unfair and counterintuitive though, trying to sell more stuff by making it less available. NorikSigma
Wait, store exclusives? Apparently, I don't know of their existence until no, so I feel bad. Well, not too bad. Quote BZPRPG ARC 3 / Breaking Point Profiles
Ragnar Lothbrok
As a Brit, none of the store exclusive sets were actually exclusive to stores. Instead, they were 'limited edition'. I managed to find Lesovikk and Karzahni, but I never found Icarax or Mazeka. Sad times Quote Twitter: @enkindle_this
Banana Gunz
Exclusives are fine for me because the stores are near by, but I can imagine it can be frustrating for others who don't live near them. One solution would be to sell them online, though that makes it somewhat less exclusive (but hey, if it works, then fine by me). Lyichir
I think store exclusives are generally great. At least in the U.S., it's no burden to get them, especially since they're mostly available direct from Lego.com (or from their respective retailer's web shop) if you can't get to that particular store. They often result in really cool sets (such as the Ninjago Lightning Dragon, Karzahni, or the Lego City public transit station), and from what I've read this is in part because the retailers share their own insight into what works and what doesn't for their customers. The main time that store exclusives are harder to get are when they are promotional sets, like the upcoming Bricktober Mini Modulars or Dareth vs. Nindroid polybag at Toys 'R' Us. Still, those sorts of sets are not necessarily that difficult to obtain in-store, and often represent things that might not be produced outside of a promotion of that sort, so I have no issue with those either. Noxryn
i don't like them while now i live in an area that has like every type of store, in the past i didn't and it always kinda sucked to be all "oh wow this set looks so cool" and be unable to obtain it because the store isnt in the area. of course there's ordering online, but when i was little i wasn't allowed to order things online (and getting something ordered online needed a powerpoint presentation). but it just feels easier when all the sets are made available at all relevant retailers. Aanchir
Generally I have no problem with them, because in this day and age, thanks to the Internet, geography is pretty much insignificant to these sets' availability. Retailer exclusives are usually still sold through the online LEGO shop, the LEGO mail-order catalogs, and the retailer's own online shop. In countries where the retailer in question does not have any presence, they are generally not sold as retailer exclusives anyway, or are made exclusive to a retailer that does do business there. The only exceptions tend to be certain promotional sets or sets with actual retail branding like 40077 or 7848. Nidhiki of the Shadows
I really never bought/received exclusives... other than like Lhikan and Kikanalo and Takutanuva. The sets themselves were awesome but having them be exclusive to one retailer is kind of a pain. Not too big a problem for me now, but it was definitely the reason I didn't get them back in 2007 with Karzahni and Lesovikk (both awesome sets). -NotS
Adventurer
Annoying, makes it harder to collect the set, particularly if its not available in all usual regions. Quote Credit to Pohuaki for the awesome banner!
bioniclepluslotr
I noticed some of my boxed sets have special edition stickers. Mazeka and Umbra says Special Edition, and Fero and Skirmix says Limited Edition. Does that mean these are exclusive figures or that they're different than their regular releases? I don't remember them being particularly limited.
