Bo99 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Hi everyone I don't know if I'm in the right place to ask this, if not you can delete this message. We have a very large Lego Bionicle sculpture of Keelerak. It's at least 10 years old and the bricks are glued together. We want to sell it, so we are looking for a bit of information about it. Can you help us and tell us a bit more about it? Thanks in advance!!! You can see the pictures here: https://link.2dehands.be/m1961398084 Measurements total piece (including green bottom piece): Width: 80 cm Length: 110 cm Height: 115cm 3 Quote
That Matoran with a Vahi Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Ooh, I KNOW I've seen photos of that one, or at least a very similar model, back in the day. I thought it was here on BZP, but a quick search through the news archives didn't immediately reveal it. I definitely have a saved photo of the model that I must have found somewhere on the internet though; from that picture's context it looks like it was a model at an official Lego shop, or maybe a Legoland park store? Definitely must be from 2005, that was the year those sets were new. I wonder if a deeper trawl through the BZP news archives for that year might turn up something more on it... 1 Quote "New legends awake, but old lessons must be remembered. kawaii kitty Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I would love to see close-ups to replicate the amazing sculpture 1 Quote
Crimson Jester Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I would reach out to LEGO support! They’ve got a history department that does a pretty great job of tracking this stuff, especially if you have photos! Best of luck! 1 Quote "This spot marks our grave; but you may rest here too, if you like."
Nato G Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 (edited) According to BS01, a brick-built Keelerak was made for promotions and given away in a competition. There's not much info on what happened to it, but based on the one picture I can find, it looks almost exactly like what you've got there. You might have just solved a big community mystery. Interesting! You’d think OP would have mentioned winning it would they have been the winner. I’d assume they’re second or third owner. I believe they had similar display models in store, and considering the large plinth it’s mounted on, I’d lean toward this being a store display. Master Inika Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I've spent eight years wondering what happened to that giant Keelerak. I'm glad it's still preserved. It's beautiful, and it's a piece of Bionicle history. I'm with Dr. Jones on this one: "This belongs in a museum!" 1 Quote COMING SOON! IgnikaTV Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Yeah, I found the advertisement for it that aired 2005 or something on biomediaproject, here is a link, if you wanna see: https://biomediaproject.com/bmp/?mui_playlist=%2Fbmp%2Fdata%2Fplaylists%2Fvid%2FCommercials%2F2005%2F2005commercials.js Also how did you even get that? Were you the winner, or did you buy it from someone? 1 Quote
