Makuta_of_Oz Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 I've been trying to play the Mata Nui Online Game 2, but have encountered a glitch in which Hahli outright REFUSES to tell Azibo that she has a Fishhook and some String, meaning he won't give her his Charm. I've tried numerous tricks suggested online, from 100 of each item to beating every team to constantly relaunching the game, but nothing works. I have a Flash version from (I think it was) BioMediaProject that I downloaded almost a decade ago. Have I somehow softlocked the game? How do I address this without starting over or hacking the inventory? 2 Quote If you use correct grammar in your posts (or try hard to), place this in your signature. TahnokTrapper Posted October 3, 2025 Posted October 3, 2025 You're supposed to buy a fishhook from Zemya, the Hau wearing Onu-Matoran merchant. If you bring a crafted fishhook it won't work. Don't ask me why it doesn't work, but I had the same issue and buying a fishhook instead of crafting one seemed to do the trick. 1 Quote

TahnokTrapper Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 (edited) Do you have string with you? Not rope, string. And did you have any crafted fishhooks in your inventory before you bought one? I can't confirm because I didn't experiment, but maybe the prompt doesn't show up because you already had a crafted fishhook with you before you talked to Azibo. Also I crafted 100 Fishhooks before I bought one because someone on a video website said it worked when they got 100 each of string and Fishhooks. ^_^; Quote If you use correct grammar in your posts (or try hard to), place this in your signature. David Skyroller Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 I think progress is only stored in the metadata where you can "hack" your inventory. Have you tried reading the metadata variables to see if anything looks out of place? It might be that a flag didn't get triggered properly. For example, the code might turn on the flag to allow that charm dialogue when you buy a fishhook ONLY if your current fishhook quantity is 0 and that specific charm quantity is 0. If this specific example is true, you would have to sell all your fishhooks then buy one for the dialogue to pop up. I remember amassing 999 widgets only to find the bug where that one guy in onu-koro "gives" you 25 widgets, but they didn't do widget=widget+25. Instead they did widget=25. All those Po-Koro/Ta-Koro runs for nothing... 1 Quote

Neither worked. 4 hours ago, David Skyroller said: I think progress is only stored in the metadata where you can "hack" your inventory. Jovanfan4126 Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 So, I don't usually frequent these types of threads but I came here after experiencing the same bug. I recreated the scenario described above and here's my findings: 1: When you ACCEPT Akibo's quest (exhaust his dialogue about needing materials to retrieve his sluice), the game checks how many string/fishhook are currently in your inventory. 2: Only when you speak to him with a value of string/fishhook GREATER than that initial value will you be able to turn it in. Otherwise you get the solitary "goodbye" option. This means that if you have a huge amount of string in your inventory (as you described) and then use that string, you will have to grind again for that insane amount of string plus 1 just to finish his quest. Hope this helps! Quote

Does that mean 4 String and 103 Fishhooks total (1 more of each) will be enough, or would I need to double it and then add 1 (i.e. 7 String and 205 Fishhooks)? Either way, I'll give it a go shortly. Jovanfan4126 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 This would be going on the assumption that between your first interaction with Azibo and now, your inventory of fishhooks and string stayed static. Is that accurate? If you had a bunch of string at the INITIAL time you spoke to him, then the system will retain that. It works like this: The system checks two things at the same time. It updates Azibo's quest from unstarted to be in progress, and checks your inventory amounts at the BEGINNING, not currently. Since fishhooks cannot be sold/traded, string is the only variable here, and it would have to be a LESS THAN value to be barring you from quest completion. Quote

Yes to the former, but however many you used for rigging have to be (unfortunately) remade... more grinding! Quote

All those Po-Koro/Ta-Koro runs for nothing... This isn't entirely accurate. Instead what you encountered was an integer overflow, which has a similar result but different methodology. Say if I had 725 widgets, when I complete the quest I have 750, so clearly it's not widget=25. Instead, what occurs is that the game rolls over the integer of 999 to 025, because 1000 doesn't exist in its logic. The moral here is that if you have widgets, SPEND THEM! Quote

When you initially boot the game, you can click "Progress" where it will show a bunch of code. The way you have it described, the text SHOULD say "&Azibo=0" as well as "&ItemCharmProsperity=0". If the 0 there is a 1 instead for either, that would be the issue. Quote

I can't find a "Progress" button or link, or even find an external file that features dave data! Sorry I'm being a pain in the neck considering nothing has worked so far, and thank you for your efforts so far! This is because I have already beaten all 5 other teams in the Kolhii Championship but yet to play in the Final. Admittedly I had yet to open the door to Nixie's hut until now, but what I can ask her is as follows: "Who are you?" "I'm Hahli." --> leads to "My name?" --> leads to "What are you doing?" --> leads to "Formula?" --> leads to "What does it mean?" "I found this crystal at G6" (I had obtained the Crystal Of Purity but yet to show it to her) Shoutout also to Andrew for posting about this on the front page as today's news story! That was a pleasant surprise! I think it's also worth noting at this point (I've avoided mentioning this out of fear it was considered bad manners) that I've been livestreaming my progress the entire time. Makuta_of_Oz Posted October 9, 2025 Author Posted October 9, 2025 (edited) Since my last comment, I spoke to Nixie for the 1st time, including telling her about the Crystal Of Purity. Thinking that might solve the glitch I spoke to Azibo again, but the option to give him the fishhook and string remained absent. I have also tried multiple times to increase my Fishhook and String quantity, getting Fishhooks both via Kailani and via Zemya, both with and without resetting, and still failed. I have not, however, won the Kolhii tournament despite beating every team in the normal games. Do I need to do that first to get this to work? If so, at what point is Ta-Koro destroyed and the rest of the island cut off (I've softlocked myself this way before and do NOT want to do so again)? I think it was when I got the Crystal Of Courage? Interestingly, I also noticed that every time I reboot the game, Nixie's door is locked again. Is that normal? (-Kopaka Toa of Ice-) Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 That is a difficult dilemma. But i already gave up early on this game quickly like the Voya Nui online game. This game requires too much crafting and going back and from for quests almost endlessly. I hate grinding huge ammount for crafting like this in games. Quote

Makuta_of_Oz Posted October 15, 2025 Author Posted October 15, 2025 (edited) While streaming, I went and completed the Championship... and then softlocked the game by leaving Ta-koro via the bridge and then coming back despite only having 3 Crystals, triggering the cutscene that destroyed Ta-koro. Assuming I wasn't already softlocked by the Azibo glitch. And it's safe to assume at this point that I WAS already soft-locked since nothing worked to fix it. Worse, IDK how to restart the Flash version of the game I have. I'm going to have to restart using a more modern version of the game than the one I have. Since it's going to be over a month before I plan to get around to it, I have no choice but to request this thread be closed.
