Pokémon is the biggest epidemic in history.

How does one escape the addiction!? HOW!?

You can't, because there is no escape from it. :P

Resistance is futile. You cannot escape the power. Let it overwhelm you and become one with it. Make Bionimon!

Complete your Pokedex. This usually gets me out of it...until the next game comes out. :P

You need to get a 5 star trainer card.

It's the only way to escape.

Join Rise of the Rockets and channel your addiction through that. :D[/shameless advertising]

no seriously i have no other suggestions for you sorry man.

Actually, I would suggest that. Except, then there's definitely no escape.

SPIRIT: I'm so close to that, it isn't funny. D= Except I just can't seem to get even to the first Palmer battle, never mind 100 straight wins in the Tower. =P

Butbutbut... Glaceon... and Leafeon... I can't evolve them in Heartgold... my Dex is doomed...

Also, how do the trainer cards work? <=D

Since Generation III, trainer cards have had stars. Getting all 5 stars basically means you've beaten the game. Here's how to get all five in HG:

1) Beat the Elite Four.

2) Complete the National Pokédex.

3) Reach the Friendship Room in the Pokéathlon Dome.

4) Get a Leaf Crown.

5) 100 win streak at the Battle Tower.

And Thyme Lord, I'm much closer than you. I've at least reached Palmer the second time... only to be thoroughly defeated by him. :crying:

Every time I get a Pokemon game, I play it obsessively for about a month, and then I abruptly get extremely bored and forget about it. Then about a year later, I find it and think to myself "ooh what's this PERHAPS I SHOULD PLAY IT FOR HOURS ON END AND ALLOW IT TO CONSUME MY LIFE I AM TOTALLY GOING TO BUY THE NEXT ONE". And then the next one comes out and I say "no Pokemon we're not doing this again", but a few months later I get really bored and buy it anyway.

...I guess Pokemon addiction just affects me differently than most people. :P

Turakii: That's where people with Platinum come into play. =P

SPIRIT: Sweet. What kinda team did you use?

Half the time I should have won; but I made some rookie mistake by accident. =P

No, that's exactly what it does to me. :P

Also, you don't necessarily have to get all five stars to escape. If I can convince myself that I have absolutely no chance of beating the contests/battly stuff/Pokeathlon (which is usually the case), then I give up on that.

Go on a long camping trip. For some reason, all of my "addictions" go away when I do that.

Infernape, Alakazam, and Umbreon. All specially bred and trained. And it still wasn't enough. :(

Yeah, I have 3 of my 5 trainer card stars for HG (still need to complete my Pokedex and the Tower challenge).

Another thing you could do is go shiny hunting... I don't think that'd help the obsession though - shiny hunting takes a LONG time (and a lot of resets or hatching eggs or walking around aimlessly) unless you have the PokeRadar on Diamond or Pearl. XD

That's why I'm only a casual Pokemon fan; I look, but don't play.

And having no money to spend on such things also helps.

Easy answer: you don't! :P

I've become so obssessed with Pokemon (some might argue that I love Pokemon just as much as Bionicle, which is A LOT) that I've actually made half a dozen Pokemon plushies! One of which, a Machop plush, has become my most prized possession.

Machop is the cutest Pokemon ever, and don't you forget it!

*hugs his Machop plush*
