Why was Roy so popular? He sucked, and was just a clone! Speaking of clones, why does D.r Mario return, but not Lucas, or Snake, or Ice Climbers, or Wolf? AND WHERE IS MY RIDLEY!?! Because Roy looked cool? I really can't think of a good reason. As for the other characters, Lucas is relatively unknown to anyone who's not a Nintendo fan, Snake in Brawl was just a favor because Hideo Kojima begged, Ice Climbers had technical problems working on the 3DS, and Wolf was still kind of a clone. As for Ridley, I think that's a case of style over substance. Ridley's cool, but I can't see him having a compelling or original moveset.

At the very least, Dr. Mario isn't a FULL clone; his Down-B is the Mario Tornado instead of the F.L.U.D.D. (which in my opinion makes the Doc much better than regular Mario). -
