  1. That's because of BZP's word filter. That should really be changed. It's because it's also the initials of another popular LEGO forum.IIRC Gatanui mentioned that they might change that.
  2. Moving wouldn't be a problem. You go up and down rather slowly, and just look at how Teleportation works. Firing off a shot takes barely a second, so you wouldn't even lose that much speed.Makes sense. I've gotten way more than 4 kills with a Quake Breaker. Just up your strength. It takes maybe 10-15 weapon HP to kill someone with that thing with a strength of 10.If it drained less weapon HP, the thing would be way overpowered. If it did less damage, it would be kind of useless because nobody's going to want to stand right in front of it. EDIT: which you pointed out.
  3. Well, this was... unexpected... Piraka Mania was such an awesome game. Cute title screen. Anyway, it's fun, although pretty hard (IMO, but I'm not a gamer...). The up arrow should jump; the spacebar is just awkward.
  4. The problem with doing this is that flying then becomes even more useful than it already is. I might end up letting you aim slightly up and down (say, 30 degrees) but not more than that.It couldn't be the up and down arrows though, since those should stay moving you. The [ and ] keys would probably be my first choice.I'm against aiming powers (like you said, it makes flying very powerful). However, I think melee attacks should be aimable. Actually, I think the Quake Breaker is a bit too powerful right now.
  5. @Hyper Rarity: You should probably change "Coding Programs" to "Game Engines". A "coding program" would be what you write code in (like Emacs or UltraEdit). A game engine is like Unity and Panda: something that renders 3D models (created with a program like Blender) and allows code to control them. @bulik: If you can't code or 3D model, I'd prefer you don't skew the vote count.
  6. Agreed with all that. I vote Panda for the game engine and Blender for the modeling program. Both of them run on every major operating system and are open source and free to use.
  7. Learning some languages make you better at programming. Learning Io made me a lot better at JavaScript (which is what I primarily concentrate on). Learning Common Lisp made me a better programmer in general. Not entirely true. Go learn Haskell and get your brain torn apart. And yes, Haskell is used for real-world projects.Although once you know one imperative language, other imperative languages are easy, once you know one functional language, other functional languages are easy, once you know one stack language, other stack languages are easy, etc. However, if you only know imperative languages, function languages aren't easy to learn (but it's worth it). Anyway, I would probably work on a community game. As I've mentioned, I can't do any modeling, but I can write code. I think we should write a replacement for The Legend of Mata Nui -- that game looked like a lot of fun, and since LEGO won't let Deep Brick release it, it would be nice to make it ourselves.
  8. Team Toa vs Team Rahkshi! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Do Rahkshi get some kind of melee damage boost? I think it would be useful to help balance things out more.
  9. If you already know ECMAScript/JavaScript it will be easy to learn. And hey, learning languages is fun (IMO). I'm currently learning Common Lisp, Io, and Erlang (all of which are excellent languages). Quite a bit. I haven't even looked at the "Hello World" example; I'll go do that. I was basing my claim on my (fairly minimal) experience with Unity. Also, I'm not a game programmer (despite the fact that I'm making a game). I'm a web developer who also writes compilers. EDIT: Okay, I read the "Hello World" tutorial and agree that it's downright easy. I absolutely suck at 3D modeling, but it's nice to have an alternative to Unity that runs on Linux.
  10. I'll have to check that out. I <3 JS. I doubt they did that. They seem very anti-Flash.
  11. UnityScript is a fine programming language, although IMO it feels like ActionScript (they're basically the same anyway): a bunch of extra features stapled on to an otherwise reasonably elegant language (ECMAScript). Anyway, you can definitely use UnityScript -- or one of the other languages Unity supports (like Boo, which is heavily inspired by Python) -- to do serious scripting.Just for the record, Lua is far simpler than Python, and it's a serious language (which is used for game development a lot) and Ruby is close, if not simpler.Still, I agree with this point. Python is an easier language to get work done in, unless you happen to like ActionScript and similar languages. Yeah.
  12. I'm an Apple hater, for a variety of reasons and partly just because. I'm softening up though. RIP Steve Jobs. ;-( I do a lot of web development, where everyone uses Macs, so that's a large portion of me liking Apple more. I would like a Macbook Pro, but man, I don't have that kind of money. Also, I wish they let you develop for the iPhone in languages other than C, C++, and Objective-C. Web applications balance things out a little bit though.
  13. I can't believe I missed this before, but the Lightning emanate power is really cool. I read the Wikipedia article on Game Maker Language. It's ridiculously primitive. Congratulations for getting anything done at all.
  14. I don't know about you, but I'm a code guy (and UltraHau is too). I much prefer writing code to working with GUIs that allegedly make things easier for me. Also, Disney has used Panda3D for some pretty complex projects (like Pirates of the Caribbean Online). That said, I still doubt Panda compared to Unity.
  15. Nope. TPBM has made more than 400 posts.
  16. Oh well. I don't think we'll be getting this for quite some time. I guess we can just hack save files until then. BTW, the last time I recall hearing from Deep Brick was December 2010 - about 10 months ago. Any word since then? I thought the legal reply was kind of funny though. What typical legal stuff. Just a long-winded way of saying "Yeah, not a chance". Is that true? I thought Sapphire had part of the copyright.
  17. He fixed Lewa's air katana, without having seen one before. That's definitely a strong argument for Velika being "the" GB.Meh, Air Katana aren't exactly complicated pieces of machinery, and Velika is a skilled in inventor. IMO, the strongest argument for Velika is his odd wisdom. Personally, I think it's Dume, for all the reasons people have stated above. What better place to observe than Mata Nui's brain? Plus figuring out that Mata Nui was dieing, knowing the Mask of Life would save him, and knowing of those Toa canisters.
  18. Counting computer languages, at least 5 fluently and many more in various stages of fluency. Not counting computer languages, just English, though I was learning Chinese and intend to start again.
  19. If he's not looking obviously religious (like a big cross on his shirt or something), I don't see how it's different than, say, Steve Jobs. Heck, I doubt that many people would recognize a 100x100 picture of Thomas Aquinas anyway. Basically, if you're just portraying him as a philosopher and not doing religious stuff, I don't see why they could stop you.
  20. Did anyone know this forum has a "Perl Rulez" sign? :perl-rulez:

  21. Do they remind anyone else of the Phantoka? Why do they keep doing the Fire Lord build? This time complete with antlers again... Is that Two-Face I see? "Hero Cuffs"? Well, this is going down fast... I hate to be so pessimistic, but really? Good Parts™: [*]Black Phantom has a pretty neat staff, and in general is a small improvement over the Fire Lord.[*]Some good new pieces (Thornraxx has a pretty neat head)[*]Surge is actually an almost reasonably decent set[*]Yeah, that's it. The new pieces encompasses a lot though.Bad Parts™: [*]Black Phantom is... the Fire Lord? http://www.bzpower.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/annoyed2.gif[*]The Heros need to do a few one-handed pushups.... Evo especially...[*]Two-Face Split Face just looks... weird [*]Jaw Blade looks like... a flying fish? [*]Hero Cuffs -- I mean that's just really little-kid-y[*]What the heck happened to Rocka's arms? o_O Oh well, they gave him a bunch of mechanical limbs to compensate...
  22. [selfpromotion]BIONICLE Conflict Zone has some pretty basic multiplayer, but it only works over your local network (meaning you'd have to have someone else in your house to play it with) and is kind of a pain to set up.[/selfpromotion] On the Adaptation underwater breathing: I think level 5 Rahkshi should at least be able to breathe underwater. Gills seem to be something an Adaptation Rahkshi could make easily.
  23. Okay, I'll put some screenshots up with the next release (hopefully within the next two weeks).
  24. Yeah, this also affects Air and Gravity. And as a Toa of Lightning, my primary attack doesn't seem to count kills at all. o_O It bothered me for a while too (still does), but I eventually came round to realizing that's the best way to do it. Also, if you play the game way too much, you get used to it. This is due to a bug in the game which makes Shadow waaay too powerful. (I got 144 kills in Mangaia before I died....) I agree. Maybe being able to move while melee attacking would solve the problem. Yeah, currently the only indication is sound. Little floating damage text would be a good way IMO.
