  1. Fairly good MOCs here. I like the big fin weapon, and using the Visorak minifig as a mask/face. Chanaz is bay far the best; the torso is unique, and the legs are very well color layered. A treat to loot at, truly. Overall, my impression is that none of these became the best they could be - you clearly have talent, but it shows in scattered places of brilliance. Try focusing on one MOC, for a long time if necessary, and perfect it. If what I am seeing here is any indication, the result would be wonderful. Keep MOCing!
  2. Thanks all. To Captain Viridian: After the Technic and system pieces were set, I glued the connection points (except the hair parts) and used a dremel tool to drill/melt a hole through the last two points. The very last already had a rod hole though the center, so it was just the studs that needed drilling. The middle hole was made though studs and an axle (and part of a perpendicular connector). Afterwards, blue rods were cut, sanded, and polished for each of the three holes (the first, by the way, already existing even in the original head design). And voila, light could refract though said holes! Please do share your idea for the jaw!
  3. Neat ... or at least the last picture. I assume you simply made the solid version and pushed out the inner nine pins. Considering there are white two-pieces and green rubber bands, you can use red two-pieces in the middle, white on the outside, and green rubber bands to hold it together to make a wonderful sushi MOC.
  4. Incredible MOC ... The consistent use of System, HF, Technic, and Bionicle is great, and the original designs are astonishing. The colors are well chosen and layered just as well. My one complaint is the lower torso - considering the short legs (which seem to be in proportion to the arms and head) the torso ought to be far shorter. The chest and shoulders are perfect, but it seems like an inch off the lower torso would do it some good. Alternatively, make the Legs WAY more human-proportioned. Remarkably done.
  5. Whoa, excellent! Besides the blue mixed with dark blue. Rahkshi feet do come in dark blue, but not Bohrok shield thingamadoodles. But the build itself is just spectacular, though I would use barbs, not black claws, for the ... mandibles? And it could use some (or many) eyes, maybe trans-orange? Lastly, the mouthish blue pin part may be better as a bulb or dish, or a set of pin holes or pins.Overall, great MOC.
  6. Neat ... it looks a whole lot better without the Matoran in it. Speaking of which, I like the blue on Mazeka's head. Anywhoo, I bet it looks excellent from a side or bottom angled view, maybe with a less distracting background. And it indefinitely would be excellent with proper Matoran (Lego's fault). Regardless of my own preoccupations regarding presentation, I can tell this is a superb MOC that beats Vultraz's s###### little glider any day. That dark grey piece in the back ought to be exchanged for a black one, though - great piece, isn't it?Nicely done.
  7. Nice work. Blood Raven's color scheme is supremely done. Black Thorne had a great build (sort of feminine, but from what you have written it seems it is a male, though regardless, an excellent design). Naturally there is little on which one is able to comment when dealing with HF MOCs, but often enough I find myself saying THIS is what Lego should be putting on the shelves.Congratulations on two finely made figures.
  8. This is absolutely amazing. Just ... wow. It looks great, and the flow is impeccable. Naturally I love the feet (I use the same design on all my Toa, incidentally) and the color layering is superb. Maybe the waist could be ... different. It isn't that it's too thin, but the slant is a bit off.Anywhoo, great MOC.
  9. Thanks, Jinklemeister. Yep, the wrist device is a "Rhotuka Launcher" even though it launches nothing. I wanted to make it look how it would in FoF, and maybe she had a wrist-mounted one in the movie too (I can't remember, I just remember her scepter). Unfortunately for it to launch anything the fold-back capability would be lost ...
  10. Thank you. The movie was definitely the inspiration for the blue.
  11. Thank you for your feedback. I used superglue to attach the cutoff of the sword to the main sword body. I won't get rid of the mata red since I refuse to use any black that isn't pins or axles on this revampAh, I see. That can be avoided, however, by using non-black Technic pieces and whatnot. For example, the 1 x 2 half liftarms on his back could be silver.
  12. *Gasps* ... wow. This is truly ingenious. First of all, the color scheme is unexpected, but amazing. It works extraordinarily well. And the designs, arms, legs, torso ... magnificent. The use of the Indiana Jones bags (as they appear to be) as kneecaps is just about the greatest thing I've seen a MOCist do, ever. The use of a HF 2.0 head piece for the lower torso armor is equally incredible. Every part of this MOC is something I would have never considered. The one thing that could use improvement is coloring. The Technic connector with the perpendicular pin hole on the right arm ought to be grey, as having the regular connector on the left arm grey throws off the balance. The same happens with the 2 x 2 circular sliding plates on the left arm. They ought to be white, as those on the knees are, and there is no other white on the lower left arm to balance that on the right. The same can be said for black on the lower left arm. Try replacing those system pieces and switching out some grey Technic for black (those 1 x 2 liftarms should be black anyway, since those on the feet are). I try, as best I can, to have all like pieces be the same color. It helps with the unity of the MOC. Finally, the back seems a bit exposed and a bit black. Compared with the front, the back looks very out of place. I suggest more armor, replacement of black pieces with white/grey ones, etc. Overall, extraordinary MOC.
  13. Really great - not only does it look good, but it is ... not "functional", but has a function. Neat idea to use the visor and gears for the sound. However, the colors are kind of all over the place. I suggest losing the yellow/orange, in any case. Grey or black would go well, but if you replace the visor with a white or tan one (I think they made tan ones) then those yellow/orange pieces could be made that color. Or, keep the blue, and make the whole gun (trans) blue, grey, and black. Since you use blue pin(s) anyway, that could be easiest. The design is very good (although socket blocks without bulbs, while they fit well, just don't look right) but the color thows it off. Much more unity ... at least make like pieces the same color (Technic wheels, sockets, gears, etc.)Anywhoo, great size, function, and overall MOC.
  14. Oh ... my ... Mata ... Nui. And I was impressed by your Jaller sword. Everything on him is very good, and extremely true to the movie, but the Rhotuka launcher ... *giggles maniacally* ... is divine. Really, just genius. Maybe a tad big, but I blame that on the body. In the future, you ought to build a bigger, better Whenua Hordika just to accomodatethat incredible design. Please tell how you accomplished that.
  15. Excellent, excellent work. at first I wondered, "what are the differences?" but you took the original design and made it incredibly better while leaving the overall look intact. The crab - awesome. The subtle and logical design alterations - wonderful. And the sword ....YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!... terrific. It has been so, so long since I've seen another member make part modifications to achieve their objective. I do it all the time, and people don't seem to like it so much. But you did it very successfully - may I ask how you attached the cutoff to the main sword? Well, extraordinary MOC. The Mata red could be done away with, but with the Cordak blaster's red it kind of works where you have it. I hope to see more of your work.
  16. Now this is is a great example of HF put to good use. The imp is neat, a very good use of the bizarre HF 2.0 head. It works here splendidly. The mecha ... whoa. The build is good (maybe a bit more armor on the upper part) and it shows just what neat stuff can be done with HF that could have never been done with Bionicle parts. I doubt you had enough pieces, but the legs would have been better without the knee/elbow jointed parts. Like the upper limbs, the legs would look great and be much more poseable with the free ball-and-socket joints. The legs would be much more tentacle-esque which is what I think you were going for ... and it would look wicked. The pictures weren't the best, nor was the loading time on Brickshelf. I suggest exterior lighting (no flash) and a cloth background (a bed sheet will do). Then shrink the photos, perhaps using a very easy program such as Picasa and exporting a group of photos to a file (it gives you an option to shrink them by pixel size all at once). That way, you can put 600 x 600 px or so pictures on the topic, and link them (just as you would text, by highlighting it) to the big, big pictures.Good thing your file on Brickshelf was public, since if you had just uploaded them no one would be able to see the MOC. it is best to deep-link images (clicking on them until they are their own page) and posting and/or linking them. Sorry if you already know this stuff, I'd hate to sound condescending. Anywhoo, excellent MOCs. I'd like to see more from you.
  17. Whoa ... neat design, great in fact. But a toa? Not a very toa-esque MOC, but it is a very, very excellent figure anyway. However, the cape seems a bit short. I would advise not to give him one at all, he may look better without it. The mask may be better as black, too. The colors ... hmm. You use a variety of golds, yellows and trans oranges. In the photographs these appear very similar in color, but in reality there is a stark difference. But hey, it looks good here. So, nicely done.
  18. Great revamp. I like the the arm cannon, especially how well it goes with the color scheme. The system piece on the chest ... not really working. It gives a blocky texture found nowhere else, and being lime green it is really obvious. The green Nuva armor is okay, but maybe not the very best choice. The wings are great as is the weapon choice, but the armor is a bit chunky for him. The silver works in this quantity, but I would choose silver as a tertiary color, not the primary armor color. I think he would look better with black as the majority of his armor, but maybe not. And the cape is ... short? I never use Lego capes, since they are never the right size or shape. And Mutran could definitely be a cape person ... but not a short cape person. I'd ditch the Vezon cape or make a new one to replace it (I found the best method to be spray painting black cloth with decocolor black spraypaint (a floral paint that doesn't make a crust/coating/layer, but rather stiffens the fabric making any cuts/holes not bend and distort) and then final shaping can begin(after drying), making tears and whatnot).Anywhoo, this is a very good MOC with some excellent modifications to the original design. Nicely done.
  19. @Tahu Nuva 3.0; oh, rubber brushes! Thank you, that would work out perfectly. Regular brushes always leave hairs (for me, at least) so this would fix that. I plan to do a small-scale tentacle with the real materials (I already made one from floral wire and Amazing Mold Putty) so I'll definitely get some practice from that. @Taipu1: the description of gelatinous didn't mean transparent, although people have that connotation. I meant more of a jelly consistency. He will have a solid red color. @The Wretched Automaton: oh yes, all the characters from federation of Fear are almost done (Takadox and Roodaka have already been posted). So since Greg told me he is definitely bigger than Brutaka (and considering my Brutaka is pretty big) his tentacles will be as long as my arms and his head about half the size of mine. The final product will be very, very creepy ... though realize that the Matoran could go mad, but human beings are another matter. Play Dough and clay are not rubbery once dried. But I plan to sculpt his head and one tentacle (sans the spikes which I'll put in later) and make a mold of each. The head I'll coat first with latex, once dried I'll put in a wire frame and fill with either the rubber clay or latex (probably a layer of rubber clay then latex). The tentacles have to be hand-shaped around the wire with the help of the molds, which will be filled in with the rubber clay one half at a time, pressed around the wire and rotated within the mold to avoid seams (placed in and out again at different angles). The tentacles will then be attached to the head/mass (which will look like a melted scull/octopus with bone structure around forward facing eyes) with soldered wire first (wire will be added to poke out of the bottom of the main segment and ends (beginnings) of tentacles) then sculpted clay rubber. I think I will give a couple coats of red latex to the tentacles before this step. Then I will coat everything in ed latex until the color i want is achieved. The spikes will be made of milliput, the perfect color and consistency. I just need to make an original, with a "root" to stick into the tentacles to glue and make a mold for identical ones. Maybe I'll make a few sizes. Any more ideas/improvements? Suggestions for products to use?
  20. @Artem K and Gata: the feet do not seem to be receiving much love ... they are actually high-heels, but more practical. They are a bit chunky, yes, but her set version heels were almost as tall has her shins. Though if I modify the front portion to be less massive and blunt, I think they will be more feminine. The under structure is just as thin as her originals, in fact the whole thing is the same width (4 studs long) but it is without the height. Thanks for the thoughts, i will certainty attempt a remedy. And thank you for the compliments
  21. Excellent ... revamp? I don't really follow HF aside form set reviews, but regardless, this is one great design. From the front, that is. it looks lean and strong, taller and more proportional than the sets. The color is good. But using grey with gold isn't very desirable. And due to the way HF is, it is super noticeable from the back. I am surprised Lego still hasn't designed pieces that will cover those areas. Anywhoo, this is a good, sturdy-looking MOC with great custom weapons. Nicely done.
  22. @nuhvok campaign manager: yes, I also found it a bit off to have her fingers so rounded. i had always planned to make her fingers sharp, like in the movie. But at the time, her feet were made and pointed fingers were in complete and awful contrast with them. However, now that the feet could use some pointiness, the hands can be altered to match. Thanks to all, especially Maganar!
  23. @Tahu Nuva 3.0: that's a great way of doing it, because I've already found some that will do the trick. But how would I get the latex onto the parts, evenly?
  24. Hello all, I have begun an endeavor to create Tren Krom, full scale, poseable, with all the detail of which we know. However, I cannot seem to find a material out of which I could make his enormous gelatinous body. Any suggestions?Zubber is no longer being made, but hopefully someone, somewhere knows of some other sculptable material that comes in red and cures to a gelatinous consistency (very soft rubber). Essentially, I will make a wire frame. i will sculpt the main body mass out of clay, make one tentacle, and mold them both. Using wires to support it, this material will be placed in position and molded.Naturally before I begin anything more than the concept drawing I already have, I need to know I can get the material I need. So, please give me your ideas as to what products could serve this purpose. Thank you!
  25. Woah, all I can say is awesome bike, awesome rider. The use of large pieces is astounding, and makes it look Bionicle-esque yet still very cohesive and inventive. Yet ... to much Mata green. If all the liftarms were lime, then I think the color layering could be improved a great deal. The solid color makes the great design blend together.Superb work, regardless.
