  1. I doubt lack of representation of bi people (which, as a bisexual male, does annoy me) is down to a single man. I don't know where or when he said this (or if he even did), but that makes no sense considering that he has stated that River is bi. Kinda goes against what you claim he said. Moffat has flaws but he's hardly the Antichrist. That's obviously George Lucas! I kid, of course. I <3 George Lucas.
  2. Wow, that was an amazing episode! Forced Invited my parents to watch Genesis so they can get some context on who Davros is and what was going on in the Kaled-Thal Civil War.
  3. It's not really a homage but definitely not so much a decon of mechas as it is to anime tropes in general. It has love letter aspects to the mecha genre but ultimately it deconstructs tropes present in them such as the trio of pilots, the dynamics between their mentors and the character's personalities as a whole. That said, it's not a deconstruction of the mecha genre similar to how Madoka isn't a decon of magical girls (difference being Evangelion is more of a different way to play with common mecha and general anime tropes and Madoka is a decon-recon). Of course, this is all up to the interpretation of the watcher, this is just how I saw it.
  4. The original series or the Rebuild movies? If it's the original series, that gives me an excuse to rewatch it from the top. xD If it's the Rebuild movies, I'll probably just marathon 'em when 3.0+1.0 comes out.
  5. Yeah, I prefer to call them by their names. It's just easier for me.
  6. I have Kopaka as my favorite with Gali inching just slightly behind.
  7. I got all the summer sets yesterday for my birthday and it's been a blast playing with them. Thoughts from worst to best: Skull Scorpio: Definitely my least favorite due to bizarre looks and rigid legs. I didn't care about them having much articulation but something like a function where turning a knob rotates them a bit would've been nice. I don't know whether I like it or LoSS better. LoSS has a bit more poseability and looks really cool overall whereas Scorpio has an incredibly addicting function, so I'm torn. I'd probably rule in favor of Scorpio due to the Kakama, since I like it more than the golden Skull Spider Mask. Skull Slicer: Love how he looks although the function is a bit clunky, what with the colliding swords and chain. Still, I love how he looks and it was great fun building his gearbox. The Miru also looks pretty sweet in those colors (plus I'm in the camp that loves the 2015 design for it so that helps) Skull Warrior: Relatively standard build but he pulls it off very well. The bow is amazing, the spear is cool and overall the figure itself has both great play value and amazing posing capabilities. The Akaku is my favorite of the drained masks, what with being my 2nd favorite 2015 mask (my favorite being the Kaukau, which didn't get a drained form) and having what I consider to be the best colors for both the Toa and the Skull villain. Skull Basher: Definitely my favorite of the 4 smaller ones due to its function. At first I was worried because he didn't have a rubber band so I thought his arms would flail wildly. Even though they do flail, the lack of a rubber band allows for such great movement range with his shoulders that I can't fault it. It's my favorite function of the entire wave. Combined with the epic dual axes, makes for my favorite of the smaller sets for the summer. The Pakari is pretty sweet too. This set was only dethroned by... Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder: Before getting the set, I thought Skull Grinder would be the star of the show. After building it and playing with them, it's definitely Ekimu and the Mask of Creation. I love the way Ekimu's built and how he looks, and the Mask of Creation is now literally my favorite Bionicle mask ever. The hammer and shield look really sweet, the Cinderella carriage wheel was a great touch. While building Grinder was great fun, he's not as impressive as I thought he'd be. The gap is pretty annoying (though I'm willing to forgive it due to the skeleton aesthetic) but what I like the least is that it has an amazing-looking yet annoyingly heavy weapon on one hand and a normal sword on another. I think the sword could've been jettisoned (or adapted as the bottom tip of the spear) and have the spear be dual-wielded. That would've messed up the gear function, though, unless it worked differently, which I'd also do so that both arms swung in unison. I still like the set, though, and I love having him fight the Toa and losing his spear yet still fight them with the sword. Overall rankings for the year: 18- Lord of Skull Spiders 17- Izotor 16- Scorpio 15- Nilkuu 14- Kivoda 13- Vizuna 12- Slicer 11- Pohatu 10- Lewa 9- Narmoto 8- Korgot 7- Warrior 6- Tahu 5- Onua 4- Basher 3- Gali 2- Kopaka 1- Ekimu vs. Kulta
  8. I also spotted the red Dalek from Journey's End as well as that one.
  9. Just a notification, Shiny Rayquaza is being distributed in NA through the internet until Sept. 14. Get yours through Mystery Gift -> Get With Internet while you still can! Both its nature and its IVs are soft-resetable.
  10. I'm also loving Shimoneta. I can't help but laugh out loud constantly.
  11. Korgot's gattling chest is definitely waifu material. That's worse than how it sounded in my mind. At any rate, have the summer sets been found anywhere in the US apart from NY?
  12. Neither do I. If I did, I'd probably make a battle scene with everyone mauling LoSS.
  13. I for one am glad the books don't seem to be pulling punches on just how scary it'd be for giant spiders to be invading your villages. Seriously, it's not even '06 levels of grimdark. If anything it's more reminiscent to '04 (though I am slightly biased cause that's one of my favorite years).
  14. No wonder PoF's narration is so narmy, he's called Narmoto!
  15. I remember getting the Glatorian Legends (though only the canister sets) as early as May 2009, but such an early release hasn't been duplicated for me so far leading me to believe that either my memory is faulty (though I very vividly remember seeing Mata Nui on a shelf during a weekend in late May and freaking out) or that shipment arrived freakishly early. At any rate, no Skull villains to speak of anywhere near me yet.
  16. Plot twist: That isn't Kulta in the trailer, that's his brother The author of the journals! ...or not. I laughed at that reference more than I should've.
  17. This season I'm only watching Gakkou Gurashi! as I'm still catching up with older series and this one was recommended to me by a friend. I haven't read the LN so I don't know how well or how poorly it was adapted but
  18. The three smaller Toa are on clearance in my local Wal-Mart as well, and apparently LoSS will be too. Probably gonna wait for it to go on clearance to pick up a second one.
  19. Ooh, I forgot about Mace Windu and Sabine (the pink-helmeted girl from Rebels). Those would be great in CCBS!
  20. It could be the shortened version that's put on after the commercial has run for a while. Not sure why that'd be posted before the full one, though.
  21. That'd definitely be a great set. Congratulations for winning!
