  1. ... ... ... I have to ask. What is that clip from?
  2. Maybe make repulsion like a smash bros counter, where if you press the button too early or too late it fails.
  3. OOC: Well, I found some time anyway to make this post. Also, did stabbing the spear at the monster's neck do nothing? IC: Jake While most parts of the monsters were pretty slow, the acid was incredibly fast. As such, it was a close thing, even with the reflexes of a martial artist, to dive to the side, out of the way of the blasts. He scrambled backward from the monster, and in the process noticed what appeared to be himself moving in a different direction. Looking down, he realized that his own body looked like a faint heat haze. He was breathing much heavier than normal though, and while he was used to exhaustion, this felt more... spiritual. Meanwhile, Quirinus twisted out of the way of George, at the cost of nearly skidding into a pool of acid. Small cuts opened on Jake's back, mirroring the timing and position of the injuries from the fall.
  4. IC: Jake Quirinus ignored the acid eating at the thick soles of his sandals, continuing his stab with renewed vigor. When the acid monster swung at Jake, to him it was almost comically slow for one used to high-intensity martial arts. He ducked under it, avoiding the acid dripping from the arm, and swung his baseball bat as hard as he could in an uppercut at the things head, fully prepared to step back out of reach the second things got dicey.
  5. IC: Jake This time ready for the acid blasts, Quirinus raised his own spear, and a golden shield erupted from the point to protect the three persona users, on which the acid fizzled and dropped to the ground. Dropping the shield, Quirinus dashed forward to intercept the two advancing constructs. He jumped and landed lightly on ones back, driving his spear two handed straight towards the back of the monster's head.
  6. IC: Jake Jake backed out of the line of fire, allowing the blasts to barely miss him. One stream of acid was batted away by his Persona, and fizzled on the ground. Quirinus launched another attack, this time trying to slice through the leg joint of the closest construct.
  7. IC: Jake "Yeah, somehow I got labeled as Jake two, even though the other 'Jake' is actually Jacob. Anyway, nice to meet you," he said with a smile. Pikachu, annoyed at not being introduced, jumped onto Jake's shoulder and lightly thwapped the back of his trainer's head with his tail. "Oh yeah, and this is Pikachu. Word of advice: don't let him near any hats." Pikachu just cackled and jumped back to the ground.
  8. IC: Jake "Persona, we need your assistance now," Jake called. A flash of golden light heralded the arrival of the final Persona, a Roman-esque warrior that charged forward, sweeping its spear in a wide arc at two of the monsters not targeted by the thrown lance.
  9. IC: Jake "Well, there goes the neighborhood." Jake quipped as the area seemed to morph into a twisted parody of Earth. Following the disintegration of the thrown brick, he decided to answer the lady's question. "Well... yes. I usually prefer not to use it except in emergencies though..." He shrugged. "I suppose this qualifies. You guys have them too, right?" Without waiting for a response, he began to concentrate, willing his Persona to come forth to protect himself and these others.
  10. IC: Jake The second the giant tongue-thing started bashing the wall of his apartment building, Jake knew that tonight just became a whole lot more interesting. Before he could move to a more advantageous place, the entire dang roof vent was ripped away, sending Jake falling towards the ground. Luckily, he was able to throw rope around one of the loose bricks and tie it off, allowing him to slide to the ground before to slime enveloped him. Just before he landed, he noticed the two others in the alley. Abandoning the rope, Jake dropped the last five feet, twisting in midair to land between the two civilians and the rapidly forming monsters near the back of the alley. Jake turned his masked face and called back to the two others. "I really hope you two know how to defend yourselves. This could get ugly." With that, he grabbed the baseball bat of his back and settled into a slightly modified Kendo stance.
  11. IC: Jake "Or, we could just ask Jacob's Espurr to give a few of our stronger pokemon a lift into the window, and have them help everyone up." Jake shrugged. "Just an idea."
  12. Ic: Jake Having arrived at home a few minutes ago, Jake groaned and glanced over at the closet with the fake back wall in his apartment. With an annoyed huff, and a resolution to stop breaking his resolutions, he walked into the closet, reached into the crack in the wall, and opened up the small door, which led to a cubby in the wall. Inside was his vigilante gear; a baseball bat (he was leaving the machete here), various smoke bombs, his outfit, among other things. Quickly changing, he secured the coil of rope around his shoulder, strapped the bat to his back, and dropped his other, smaller tools into various pockets. After making sure everything was in place, he grabbed the outside of the window sill and flipped himself onto the roof, and immediately noticed movement in an alley just to the right of his apartment. He concealed himself in the shadow of a roof vent, but had trouble seeing down into the dark alley. He settled down to watch.
  13. IC: Jake "Ok, sounds like a plan." Jake said. "So... Should we split up, or stick together? I am personally for staying as a group, but what do you guys think?" Jake asked.
  14. So if a Persona is kind of a you that is below your surface, does that mean it has its own thoughts? If so, does it have the ability to mentally communicate with the actual character? Thanks!
  15. IC: Jake Jake sighed as he trudged home after a long day at work. There had been way too many customers sticking around way too long talking way too much about the bus accidents. That, and his replacement hadn't showed up, meaning that he was running around the kitchen the entire day. Fun. On approaching the street that was the home of the al-Barehan Police Department, he took a left to avoid the place out of habit. Instead of risking a panic attack from seeing an officer with a gun on his/her hip, he simply took a detour of two blocks before continuing on his way to his apartment. I'm too tired for patrol tonight, even with this disappearing bus thing going around. It was no where near my area anyway... Jake's thoughts trailed off, and he continued trudging home.
  16. Or it would have to have a lot of... FORTUNE! *runs away cackling madly*
  17. Hmmm... In that case, would a refusal to kill anyone, even if they are trying to kill him, and/or not having any friends/allies to turn to in times of trouble count as a weakness?
  18. I believe that this is better than that first profile I made... Character Name: Jake Harrison Age: 23 Gender: Male Arcana: Justice Weaponry and Tools: A good, strong baseball bat, a blackened military grade machete, and a few pairs of handcuffs. Not to mention a Swiss Army knife, a coil of rope, and some homemade smoke bombs. Skills: Jake is a martial artist, and is moderately skilled in various forms of fighting, including Jiu-Jitsu, Kendo, and Krav Maga. He has a sharp mind, fair reflexes and knows how to shrug off hits. Also, he is a moderately good cook. Appearance: Jake has a strong, chiseled face with a slightly off center nose from an accident at the studio. He is about 6’1, muscular, and has dark brown eyes and dirty blonde hair. His skin is fairly tan, and sports a few scars across his body. He generally wears dark clothing while not at his job, and prefers tennis shoes. While ‘patrolling’, as he calls his vigilantism, he wears black, loose clothing slightly reminiscent of a ninja’s. Personality: Jake has an incredibly strong moral compass, and feels responsible for stopping crime around the section of the city he lives in. He has deep concern for the well being of others and will put himself at risk to save an innocent. However, Jake feels like joining the police department would be both too restricting and bring him into contact with guns, which he has an irrational fear of. Biography: At a young age, Jake lost his parents to a shooting at an airport, and ever since has been unable to stand guns. He was raised by his uncle, who owned a martial arts studio in America. In his early years, he had a passion for strategy games, from chess to RTS games, but had a special love for strategic card games. However, when he was old enough to train, he began martial arts lessons to learn how to protect himself and those he loved. His first and favorite martial art was Jiu-Jitsu, followed by Kendo. After moving away from his uncle, he traveled around, taking odd jobs and learning various languages and skills, like Italian cooking. Eventually, his work took him to Al-Bareha, and has stayed ever since his Persona first manifested himself after a shadow attacked him, only surviving because his Persona saved him. He has stuck around as a vigilante, hoping to figure out what exactly caused these mysterious events. He has a day job as a chef at an Italian Restaurant. Weaknesses: Jake has an irrational fear of guns, which lucky for him, are rarer than in America due to the gun control laws. The sight of a gun will, on occasion, cause him to have flashbacks of his parent’s deaths. Also, he is not the best at sneaking without the aid of a well-placed smoke bomb. He refuses to kill anyone, even if they are trying to kill him, and has no connections in this city, so he has no allies/friends to go to. Persona Name: Quirinus Origin and Background: A Roman warrior god originally, he became a god who watched over the well-being of the community, opposite to his former nature. Appearance: http://erthepe.nl/sporen/Les3/Les3%20afbeeldingen/afb%20opdr%203b/Quirinus%20van%20Neuss.jpg (Minus the sword). Powers and Abilities: Quirinus is able to project shields over small areas which project a calming presence to those under it. These shields can only be penetrated from the inside, unless something very powerful is trying to bring it down. Beyond that, he has physical strength above normal and carries an oak spear. Maintaining a shield takes a large amount of concentration, and if Jake is panicked or Quirinus is fighting a shield can’t be raised.
  19. And you are not the concept artist for Transformers... Why? Amazing drawing!
  20. IC: Jake "Of course! Just follow me guys." He said to the group, and began to walk down the street he mentioned earlier, looking for the left turn they needed to take. Pikachu decided to walk beside him rather that hitch a ride on his head.
  21. IC: Jake While the others were conversing, Jake continued to search for the power plant using his Pokedex. After trawling through a few pages of why the city was so wonderful, he finally found the list of city buildings, complete with addresses. "Hey guys, I found it! Jake said. "Look, its just outside of town. If we follow this street, then make a left, cut across a park, and turn right we can get there... In about 20 minutes, at a rough estimate." Jake memorized the route once more, then closed his pokedex and slipped it into his pocket. "So... You like books then, Elijah? I'm never able to find time to get to the library." Meanwhile, Pikachu decided that the top of Jake's head was the best place to stand and take a look around. He was starting to get some bad vibes from the area...
  22. iC: Jake Pikachu took the growl in stride. He grinned cheekily at the Growlithe, turned around and jumped back onto his trainers shoulder. "Hi! I'm Jake. Sorry about Pikachu, he likes practical jokes." He apologized. "If I heard correctly, and since Ruth was shouting I'm pretty sure I did, you're Elijah, right? Nice to meet you."
  23. IC: Jake While the other two had run off, Jake had been researching the location of the power plant and where the power lines went, when he noticed Ruth with another trainer talking to Jacob. He began walking towards them, not noticing Pikachu was sneaking up behind a Growlithe, preparing to give the fire-type a tiny electric zap.
  24. IC: Jake "Ummm... I am actually not sure. He said something was draining the power or something, right? So maybe we should go check the power lines." Jake said, looking on his pokedex with the map app for the placement of the cables.
  25. Ok, that makes sense. Nevermind about the first part. Looks really interesting and I will definately join if/when it is up.
