Do you prefer "Adrenaline Mode" or regular mode for each Toa?
Blueblur21 replied to Nescent's topic in Bionicle Discussion
Battle mode, for the most part. Gali looks so dope with that Trident. -
Both shades of blue (Bright Blue and Medium Blue) are still in production and probably always will be. The same applies to Lewa's classic greens (Dark Green and Bright Yellowish Green). In both cases, I think the reasons for changing were twofold. Firstly, that the chosen colors were somewhat of a happy medium between the primary and secondary colors of the classic sets, and secondly because the new colors are generally more vibrant than the classic colors, and as such could potentially have more shelf appeal. These factors also apply to Pohatu's Dark Orange, although in his case one of his classic colors (Earth Orange) WAS in fact discontinued back in 2004. Anyway, I agree about Gali's Dark Azur. It's a gorgeous color and I hope it continues to be used in constraction at least throughout the new Bionicle's run. I never got the whole 'Dark Azure' thing. To me, dark blue is dark blue.

I've looked, and when Tahu and Gali and Pohatu are standing next to each other it's pretty easy to tell who's the $20 set. Also, as I've said before, a quarter of Gali's pieces (22) are used in her weapon, and most of these are small TECHNIC pieces. Tahu has two giant swords that are 7 pieces combined. Piece count isn't a good metric of worth in constraction. And while I agree that Gali is my favorite of the Toa so far, that's subjective. Tahu's still pretty neat. It's not that unreasonable to want the six main sets to be in the same price bracket. It may be an unusual criticism to make, sure, but it's not some ridiculous thing. It isn't ridiculous to want the sets to be the same price. Heck, I would love it if Tahu and the other two were $15 because that means more money saved for me. But going so far as to say the three 'smaller' sets aren't as complex as the bigger sets is kind of odd. And for the record, Tahu's lava blades are two large silver pieces, two smaller red pieces, and two pins. Almost all of the Toa weapons are Technic like because of the dual functionality. Really, it's complaining just for the sake of complaining.

You're darn right. And no, Kopaka DIDN'T slip. -
I quite liked that review! You had a lot of charm and made it fun to watch. I believe you covered most of the pros and cons. Good review! Seriously, dude, calm down. There's no need to senselessly rage and hold personal vendettas against him like that. Those complaints are actual complaints that a lot of people would agree with. I for example, agree with not liking the gold and it looking too off. I don't know about the price thing, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. In fact, perhaps he wanted those smaller sets to be as large as the the larger toa so there could be some sort of consistency or complexity among all of them. What you're doing now feels more like flaming that posting actual constructive criticism. Remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that sometimes that opinion can needlessly hurt others. Legomation has feelings no less than you do, and I can imagine that seeing a comment like yours could really make him upset. If you want to post good advice he could use to make his reviews better, excellent, amazing! But if you just want to hurt their feelings because they personally don't like them, then that's not very mature at all. Are you saying the $15 sets AREN'T complex? Sure, they might not be as big as the larger sets, but let's not kid ourselves here. Gali has five or six less pieces than Tahu and she's arguably a better set than he is for her price and size. As for consistency, I don't know if you've looked, but all six Toa look pretty darn consistent with each other.

The Evil Within is so terrifying. I can't even begin to start on how horrible it is...

Hewkii? -
....That was pretty good. Is it weird that I might want one of the sets?

I've built all the Protectors except the Fire one, and I will say that I don't regret getting any of them so far. All of them have great pieces and most of them have cool weapons. (I don't know about the Fire one yet, but from what I've seen on his box cover I'm not too impressed with his weapons so far.) So yes, I would recommend that you go all the way if you want to. If you don't want to do that though, I would suggest at least getting the Earth Protector, Ice Protector, and Jungle Protector if you don't have them already. All of them have pieces that come in good colors and all their weapons are great. But that's just my opinion. I have the Water and Earth Protectors. I gave the Jungle Protector to my brother so I have to buy another one.

That review was horrible. Lighting was off and he couldn't pose Tahu to save his life.

This really sucks. If it helps any Alaska doesn't seem to exist to LEGO either.

What would you describe flippers as if not "big feet"? and honestly besides some occasional thickness issues i don't see an issue with the accuracy of the flippers? they're just a more simplified version of the set's. She represents the set version just fine. Meanwhile, this version doesn't even have flippers. No. No she does not represent the set version well at all. I would have preferred CGI to whatever the heck they decided to go with. And at least this version doesn't want to make me close down my entire laptop.

So... I ordered the Toa and LOSS off of Lego .com. I have two Protectors and $53 to burn.... Should I just go all the way and get the rest?

That was my complaint. If you were solely looking at images of Lewa, it would be easy to make that mistake. Before we got clear images, people even thought he might have some sort of dreadlocks. However, if you actually had the set in hand, as one would think would be a necessary part of making a toy-based comic, it would take five seconds to realize the truth of the situation. Remember when Sayger drew an unconscious Hydraxon with Maxilos' face? Or when Pohatu and Lewa had their masks switched in The End of the Toa? It's just an easy mistake made by one artist. We don't know if they had acess to the sets, or if these comics were based on prototypes. While I don't like it myself, it's nothing to complain about. "Sure, there's an issue, but you're not allowed to complain about it." Part of my complaint is that if you're going to have someone draw a promotional comic, it seems like a pretty reasonable assumption that they'd need dependable reference material, meaning either the sets themselves or enough images of the sets that they know exactly what they look like. The comics almost definitely aren't based on prototypes; the mask in Tahu's comic is his final mask, not his prototype mask. If Tahu's mask is correct to the final version, it doesn't make sense to me why other things would be based on prototypes early enough for Lewa's mask to have weird bunny ears (while otherwise being completely like the final design). And that's not my only complaint, either; all sense of personality has been erased from these Toa. Some of them are even direct copies from panels from another Toa's comic with minimal changes (Tahu and PoF's first panel and Onua and PoE's first panel). Their limbs have been made blocky and rectangular, like G1 transformers, and like some Transformers comics, look like they've got the gout. Overall, the quality of these comics are just disappointing. On the surface, they look nice, but closer examination reveals all kinds of weirdness that I'm not even sure when it's the artist's fault and when it's just poor communication (like the Skull Spiders becoming some kind of drones with no actual method of attaching to faces). Say what you will about the animation style (which I still adore for its expressiveness and personality), it knows how to represent sets in a way this style seems to be highly lacking in. That's not what Aanchir meant. "To scale" doesn't mean everything is the same size, but rather at the correct proportions in size. Bohrok are supposed to be that size relative to the Toa. I was never good with this kind of stuff....
-
There's always room for improvement, Cena. What was that? I kicked out at two and couldn't hear you.

Should Lego bring back The Bohrok for g2 ?
Blueblur21 replied to PaleoTiatan's topic in Bionicle Discussion
Ok, maybe I deserved that one. Though a single different part or slight build tweak does not a non-clone make. And while the only building I have done with these new sets is Via the LBB app I got from the lego site and followed their directions. Yes each Protector has their own weapon and yes there may be a slight change based on armor but overall they are just recolors of the new native species. Kind of how the Original Matoran were. The only difference with them was their color and mask. Well guess what, that is not the case this go-round. All the Islanders wear the exact same mask, bar the color. The only ones who had different ones was the two mask makers. Well and the Toa themselves of course. Now this may change in time and new masks may get released, but until then what we basically got along with the Toa are clones of a mold to represent the Protectors/Villagers. No, the Toa and the Protectors are not clones unless you have an incredibly loose definition of clone that includes nearly every canister set wave. Clones aren't defined by having the same mask, they're defined by having the same construction. Not just similar construction, the same. The Bohrok all have the same construction. The Piraka all have the same construction. The Rahkshi all have the same construction. The Toa Metru all have the same construction. The Protectors and 2015 Toa do not. They have similar constructions, but so do the Toa Mata and Nuva, and nobody calls those sets clones. Even then, all the 'clone sets' aren't clones at all. The Glatorian were similar but not so much that they could be considered clones. Skrall and Vorox are two good examples. -
So how about them newfangled Bonkle sets, guys?

Both French and Spanish names are printed on the back, the Spanish text is just smaller. Oh. I didn't know that.

Watch some of the animations from time to time. It tied me over, and I guess it still does... I must live a sad existence... :/ I've watched so many Gali set reviews I don't even think I need the instructions.

My sets won't come until next week! I need help to keep the hype alive!

This art style is so much better than what they went with. SO MUCH BETTER.

Does the ground in this game disappear for anyone else? I was playing as Gali the other day and she was running around on a black void kicking butt. It kind of sucked some of the fun out for me because usually the ground was sand.

I find the TTV review format bizarre. It seems like it would be much more natural to just go by section and list the pros and cons for that section (I.E. When talking about the color scheme, talk about both the good and bad). I do like how they show off the set in-hand though; as someone who has never seen Kardas in person, it's interesting seeing how the set works. OAFE's reviews for the old Bionicle toys were pretty good for a non-Lego fan perspective. Hoping they'll soon cover the newer sets. Jangbricks is also a pretty good review channel. Eh...Jang's building montage annoys me to no end. He'll best served with TTV's reviews. That's funny. I love his little montage. Also, you guys might want to check out Rollout Reviews. He does this thing where he reads the Master's name in Spanish when it's actually French.
