Worst Hero Factory year?
TheGreatSpirit replied to VakamaHordika147's topic in Hero Factory Discussion
Brain attack tbh. It was a downgrade from Breakout both story-wise and set-wise, and I honestly believe that it killed hero factory's momentum from the excellent previous year. NGL, sometimes I believe that some of the lego higher ups are responsible for neutering HF's story that year out of a fear of repeating Bionicle G1's issues, but I have no evidence for this ofc. -
Share all your ideas for a “gift with purchase”-set
TheGreatSpirit replied to Black Six's topic in General Discussion
How about a free 75192 Millennium Falcon with every purchase of $10 or more? I'm sure there'd be plenty of takers.- 19 replies

Did Star Wars CCBS Kill BIONICLE?
TheGreatSpirit replied to Takametru007's topic in Bionicle Discussion
G2 was killed by the multitude of half-measures Lego took with the theme. The marketing wasn't sure whether it wanted to target a new audience or target the nostalgia of G1 fans to get the world out, and ended up failing at both. The Toa sets were probably some of the best CCBS sets ever released, yet the villains were among the most underwhelming (with both Umaraks being the exception, really). They commissioned a series of flash animations which turned out quite nicely, yet only bothered to hire ONE voice actor. The list goes on and on. The sad thing is, I think Lego just wasn't confident with putting its back into promoting Bionicle as much as they did with, say, Ninjago. They played it far to safely, which is a contrast to how G1 was boldly introduced in the middle of Lego's depression, and the sad reality is that at the end, they still didn't have the confidence in the line to continue it past two measly years. Star Wars CCBS probably had as much to do with G2's cancellation as regular system did - not that much at all. The bulk of the blame lies on Lego's mistakes, which they hopefully correct one day. -

What you can do is swap out her line connectors with the lime ones in Keelerak. There's a very, VERY small difference in the shade of lime, but its close enough and much sturdier.

Absolutely incredible. I'll probably steal take notes on that torso design of yours, absolute genius engineering right there. Btw, is there any chance that we could get a pic of his back?

BBC #69 Hakann - The Bully
TheGreatSpirit replied to TheGreatSpirit's topic in Bionicle-Based Creations
Thanks for the feedback! Regarding the legs, I was limited by the amount of dark red shells I had, so I had to revert to older parts to try and preserve the colour scheme. Regardless, I'll see how I can improve upon it. I mainly focused on making sure the gun could flip like the original sets, except this time the "claw" can actually grab things. Anyhow, any advice on how I can improve upon the legs and lower body?- 12 replies

BBC Contest #69: Everything Old is New Again!

Submitted my entry: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/17410-bbc-69-hakaan-the-bully/ -
Yo yo, Piraka! [ http://i.imgur.com/8kVW2aV.jpg?2 ] (Sorry about this pic being blurry, I wanted the topic to include at least one pic but they were all massive, so I had to resize it. Worry not, this is not the entry pic) Entry Pic: http://i.imgur.com/kZBcJF4.jpg Gallery (some blurry test pics in there, sorry!): http://imgur.com/S9S1CRv&gsjogss&c2NDsgF&KyFE6N9&8kVW2aV&kZBcJF4&bAAUmrn&6Sl2Xu3&JqbGUce&QMuc7Lh&JqF336N&jNEaRug&yLTTcFm&kNbCVPJ&tuWEbdK&nuMMTcn&Q59Yeja#0 Seeing how 2006 was Bionicle's most iconic year for me (just my personal preference, please do not swarm me with 01-03 comments), I decided to remake my first canister set: Hakaan! I tried to give him a sorta wannabe gangster look with the torn up sleeveless jacket (basically Sir Fangar's cape upside down), and I'm pretty happy with the result. I decided not to include a Zamor launcher because none of the large 2015 sets have a ball launcher (I don't count the stud launchers), so I thought it wouldn't really fit in, especially since he already has one big gun. Speaking of the gun itself, one of the most important things to me was keeping the weapon flip function. Behold! http://i.imgur.com/6Sl2Xu3.jpg P.S: The claw is actually articulate now! I always invisioned the Skakdi as large and menacing, but not massive (compare the '03 Toa Nuva to the Piraka sets) Regardless, poor Tahu never stood a chance http://i.imgur.com/tuWEbdK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Q59Yeja.jpg I hope you guys like it (and post constructive criticism!) Edit: Pic linked; please keep posted images in BBC to 640x640 pixels and 100 kB. -Wind-

Voriki is that you? All jokes aside, I do like how it feels like a 2001-03 set, and I do like the purple/black colour scheme. Perhaps make it a little less blocky in the limbs though?

Lhikan: Guardian of Fire (BBC 69)
TheGreatSpirit replied to Makuta Miras's topic in Bionicle-Based Creations
Sorry, but CCBS hasn't made much Dark red pieces. So don't complain... The 2.0 torso piece and the medium sized shells were released in dark red; that should be enough to work with. -
Lhikan: Guardian of Fire (BBC 69)
TheGreatSpirit replied to Makuta Miras's topic in Bionicle-Based Creations
The biggest problem with this is the colour scheme; Lhikan was gold, black, and DARK red. Sorry but it doesn't look like Lhikan to me. -
My Kopaka's gear friction has work down considerably, if thats what you mean. Although in my case its an issue with the blue friction pin, which needs to probably be replaced.

BIONICLE in the Latest LEGO Club Magazine
TheGreatSpirit replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Does anyone notice the similarities between the new mystery mask and the skull spider masks? The same forehead ridges, the weird bit under the eyes, and the weird nose? It most definitely has skull influences at the least. -
Im off on a cruise for 2 weeks starting Friday, so I'll probably preorder Onua, Tahu, and Pohatu (along with Queen Beast) from Amazon and see if I can grab Kopaka before I get on the boat if the sets become widespread early.
