  1. I was a bit unsure of how I felt about Grevious's legs earlier, but it looks pretty good now that I've seen it from more than one angle.
  2. Overpriced. I got mine for less than 20 EUR in bricklink. £10,000 for a brick ? The title states that you are buying Lego. With a price like that maybe the actual company? Either way, I'm gonna make an enquiry, I'm dead curious. £10,000 is an incredibly good deal for the largest toy company in the world.
  3. Ooh... that could look interesting. What about a Vorox with Grevious' head? Actually that cough is just part of his character arc.
  4. Wow, this is pretty cool! You've done a good job at making her look very realistic, and the clownfish Skull Spider is a very nice touch.
  5. Doctor Who with K-9 or a mini-TARDIS. Bionicle minifigures would be cool as well, as would Hero Factory.
  6. Yeah, this show was quite heavily inspired by "On Ebay Today". I felt that something needed to replace it, so I made this series. As for running out of good material, I've decided from now on to only make episodes when I have enough of that stuff, because otherwise I'll end up with mediocre episodes or just boring episodes. Luckily the show also features genuinely good deals, so even if I fail to make any good jokes, viewers will at least be able to find some cheap Legos.
  7. Episode 5 has gone live! This episode is entitled "Headless Lhikan", and is so far my least favorite episode, because I didn't make enough jokes in this one. There's still some interesting listings in there though, so go check it out!
  8. That's what I'd like to know. I'd hate to see a project like this die, because it had lots of potential.
  9. Generally the appeal of these sorts of games (beyond just owning a nice model or figurine) is that the figures actually can store game information on them like a memory card. Skylanders or Amiibo can "level up" in certain games, boosting their stats or changing their performance, and that will carry over to when they're next scanned in—even if that's on a friend's console with no connection to that figure's "home" console. It allows a special sort of immersion—"your" figure can grow to be different from those of other players, even if the characters were functionally the same when they were initially bought. I've speculated that the "vehicle" figures in Lego Dimensions might be able to be "reprogrammed" in this way—rebuilding the vehicle in real life and in-game, and scanning it to "save" your custom model, so that it can be reloaded on a friend's device without having to build it from scratch. That would explain why, while the "figure" stands have identifying information printed on them so they don't get mixed up, the "vehicle" stands seem to be interchangeable. But if they're solely for saving completed models, they wouldn't need information on them, because the information on them would be subject to change in the first place. This would be similar to the recent Skylanders: Trap Team, which in addition to the traditional Skylanders figurines has generic crystal "traps" that can "capture" defeated enemies, with the intention of using them for assistance later on like a captured Pokémon. I was wondering about the unprinted vehicle stands, and I think you're probably right. The fact that the figurines in Lego Dimensions are actual Lego minifigs that you can play with, and the fact that the vehicles are actual mini-models makes this game have a pretty big advantage over the others. I can already see people using all the mini-model vehicles in some microscale scene. That's one of the things I like about Lego. They take something that's already pretty cool and make it even better.
  10. Actually it works out to be about that much. $60 for a new video game, $30 for a 300 piece Lego set, and I guess the extra $10 would be the electronic parts. What is overpriced is the booster packs. $15 is way too much for what is essentially a minifig and some accessories. Also $100 is about what a Skylanders starter set goes for. That is a fair point! One thing that's often underestimated when trying to figure out Lego pricing is the cost of comparable products. That's a big part of what drives Lego pricing globally. Also, another thing that will make that price a bit easier to swallow is that Lego has pledged that the current "starter set" will be the standard for several years. They're not going to release a new version that needs new software and a new scanner, like Skylanders has sometimes done—they'll simply continue to patch new figure recognition into the current game, and your year one starter set will remain compatible even with figures released several years down the line. Infinity released 2.0 (with mostly Marvel characters to promote it) only a year after the original, and 3.0 is probably going to be a thing (almost definitely with Star Wars characters) this Christmas. I'm glad Lego isn't going down that route.
  11. True, true. As for the possible tampering of the minifigures to make them unusable, that would be unlikely. They managed to compress the AppBrick into a 1x1 brick, and it's still compatible with any other brick. Given the similar nature of the AppBrick to the system that Dimensions will be using, I think the minifigure's legs will be the only part that will be changed noticeably or at all. No, no, no. The minifigures will be the same as regular minifigures, by all indications—the stands themselves are the parts that interact with the game. And those stands are a heck of a lot more complex than the app bricks. The app bricks are just molded in a special conductive blend of plastic and carbon fiber—every "app brick" is the same, and the only thing that changes how the Ultra Agents app responds to them is their position relative to one another on a multitouch screen. The bases for these "Lego Dimensions" figures, on the other hand, are most likely more like Skylanders, Amiibo, or Disney Infinity figures: They actually have an RFID chip inside them which the portal scanner can "read" to determine which figure is which. And it's possible that like Amiibo, the scanner can actually write new information to the internal chip of those bases—allowing characters to "level up" or store customized information like a memory card. I believe Disney Infinity (I own it) stores information on the characters as well, because using the same character on separate accounts (and even going from Infinity to Infinity 2.0) keeps the level stats. I look forward to the day when they combine Fusion technology with this game so you can scan in creations. Not entirely sure how it would be implemented, but that would be awesome. I'm also hoping that the game has free-build worlds (like Lego Universe properties or Infinity Toy Boxes), because that would make this game even more "Lego".
  12. $15 for Benny? I can see spending $10 but that extra 5 dollars is just too much. I think I'll wait for a sale or something...
  13. YOU SHALL NOT EAT!!! I was not expecting The Wizard of Oz to be in this game, but I'm glad it is. Also, I just discovered the official website with more pictures of the game: http://www.lego.com/en-us/dimensions/ EDIT: And now I just realized there was a link in the trailer. How did I miss that?
  14. I would assume that the stands are what activate the character in the game, and the minifigures themselves don't do anything. I certainly hope the minifig legs aren't glued to the stands. It is possible, though, that the minifigure's legs have some sort of electrical/magnetic stuff going on that the stands detect, which would make the stands interchangeable between the figures. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  15. YESSS!!! THIS IS BETTER THAN LEGO UNIVERSE!!! Also, here's a quick reference of confirmed characters who will be in Fun Packs, Level Packs, Team Packs, or the Starter Pack. DC ComicsBatmanWonder WomanCyborgBack to the FutureMarty McFlyNinjagoKaiJayColeZaneNyaThe Lord of the RingsGandalfGollumGimliLego Legolas. (Or Legless Lego Legolas if you take off his legs. )The Lego MovieEmmetWyldstyleBad Cop/Good CopBennyUnikittyThe Wizard of Oz Wicked Witch of the West I wonder if there will be free-build worlds, like the properties in Lego Universe. Because that would make this game perfect. And the best part is, if Lego stops making additions to this game and stops selling it, unlike Lego Universe, you will still be able to play the game!!!
  16. I can more than definitely see Ninjago happening, especially since it happens to be getting a Lego Movie and is one of Lego's most popular themes. As for Bionicle, if they go the route of minifigures-plugging-into-the-game, I don't think Bionicle will be able to be in this game. At least not until minifig-scale Bionicle sets are a thing again.
  17. Lego Dimensions CONFIRMED!!! To those who have no idea what I'm talking about, Lego Dimensions (possibly working-title) is said to be the upcoming Infinity/Skylanders-style video-game that Lego is releasing, and is apparently going to announce tomorrow. It makes sense, doesn't it? Batman, Gandalf, & Wyldstyle all together can only mean one of 10 things: Something Lego Movie-related. Crossover Lego video-game involving Skylanders/Infinity-style characters and stuff, hence the transparent blue portal made of Legos and the recent rumors. Both, meaning it's a crossover Lego Inifinity-style video game that takes place in The Lego Movie universe.(When I said 10 things I was referring to 3 in trinary, which is 10.)
  18. Well it's a good thing I don't eat Legos.
  19. Wow, this is really COOL. I really like the use of the Witch Doctor masks and the Kakama, and the whole model has a very nice crystal feel to it. Kopaka looks very nicely armored, and the transparent light blue sections make the model look icy and frozen. Great job!
  20. Here we go again... I wonder if it 's going to be another building competition or if it will be something like a story or drawing competition.
  21. Huh. That's interesting. I never noticed that before. Nice find!
  22. I bet this movie is going to be about a big race with a massive prize that everyone is after, and that the racers will be various Lego characters from various Lego themes. This could turn out really good if they do it right. (And I really hope so!) At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they announced that a Bionicle movie was coming out as well.
  23. Get it? The mask has a "T" for tahuI always thought it looked like cheese. Tahu: Master of Cheese.
