  1. Something else I'd like to point out here. If your theory was true then how come matoran sets got produced year after year? Think about it. If the constraction figures in boxes didn't sell well then why were matoran and titans made year after year. Surely Lego would have stopped making them if they didn't make any money. Plus why wasn't there a massive drop in profits in 2007? The toa Mahri didn't come in canisters. Yet the theme wasn't cancelled till the next year and with decent profits. Clearly it was something else that made those sets sell.

  2. Move on I guess. Bionicle and Lego have dominated my life for years. Bionicle is gone. And current Lego themes no longer appeal to me. I must admit I can never be a dedicated fan of something to the point of trying to actively continue it. I just find new things to latch onto. And even then I don't want bionicle to come back. For all the things that G2 did right it was still a far cry from the theme I used to love back in 2002. Yeah I think I'll just focus more on video games and youtube from now on. I think I probably will leave BZP eventually. Normally when I lose interest in something I end up not being active in the community. And with nothing new to stimulate my love of bionicle (I don't tend to read fan stuff) I don't know how much longer I'll be around. Sorry if this isn't as positive as previous posts.

    IC: Kavok Quake

    "Oh that little event. Impressive...."

    He paused a minute

    "Your wish is my command"

    GM IC: Black Phantom/Corrodor - Penitentiary 1331.

Well... that was easy... While Black Phantom was remarking on this fact, Corrodor bounded back into view, laden with Kavok Quake's and Night Stalker's confiscated weaponry and equipment. The ammo had been taken away, of course, but Black Phantom had secured a supply of the duo's preferred projectiles in the hold of his ship. Assuming the pair didn't try to betray him before they'd even left the prison, he'd give them access to the ammo once they were safely on board the ship and en-route to their destination.

"Corrodor, if you will," he took a step back from the cells, making room for Corrodor to open the cells with a few careful blasts of his signature acid. "Now, I believe these belong to you," he gestured to the pile of equipment that Corrodor had dumped before the two former prisoner's cells.

OOC: Sorry. College/high school started up again

"Thank you Corroder. And why wouldn't I go with you? You actually have posed a threat against HF. It's more then in my interest to destroy them any way I can. So where are we going next?"

  4. IC: Black Phantom - Penitentiary 1331.

The villain gasped in mock offence, "Who am I? Why, I am the Black Phantom! Voltix and I were the masterminds of the first Breakout of Hero Factory, and now I'm here to break you out, if you're willing to follow my orders."

    IC: Kavok Quake

  5. IC: Black Phantom/Corrodor - Penitentiary 1331.

"Corrodor, go see if you can find this one's weapons somewhere," Black Phantom ordered, "Try the armoury, or wherever it is that they store prisoner's belongings." Corrodor hissed something indecipherable, and probably insulting, but scampered off nonetheless. "Now, do you have any extraneous demands that you feel the need to make?" He turned his attention to Kavok's cell.

    IC: Kavok Quake

He saw the black figure staring at him. Startled he looked at him and said

    "Who are you?!"

Yeah, I think it's pretty inevitable it'll come back. You see at this point BIONICLE isn't a Lego theme, it's a franchise. BIONICLE is a product with a massive following (despite weather people wish to admit it or not). It has one of the most vocal LEGO communities out there. I hear a lot of people like castle, yet I never see any forums about it. Ninjago is HUGE and it doesn't have nearly the fan support and content of BIONICLE. G2 didn't sell well because a lot of fans didn't buy it for their own reasons.

There are Lego Castle Forums, and Lego Space Forums, and etc. Just look over on Eurobricks. And in the case of Castle I have seen a lot of harsh vocal criticism of certain "not-a-castle" themes this year...

But just because the Bionicle fan base is vocal now doesn't mean it will still be vocal in 5 years, or 10, or 15. I was a Bionicle fan as a kid until 2007, when I abruptly stopped buying sets after being dissatisfied with the Barraki. I watched the story from afar but didn't participate actively in the Bionicle fan community again until 2015.

I bought G2 sets because I thought they were brilliantly designed. Now that the line has been cancelled I hope to collect the remaining G2 sets I lack and MOC a few things to go with them. With that said, I don't know how long my interest will continue in Bionicle. While I love Lego and hope to collect System (and maybe soon Technic) sets for life, Bionicle sadly enough is something I would be content to ignore; something to remember as a fun part of my childhood and young adult years.

And the truth is the fan base will lose members, for one simple cause: life goes on. Go and ask almost any millennial and they will tell you they remember Bionicle a bit, maybe even had a Toa Mata or two, maybe even once were active here on BZpower. But they grew up, interests changed and now they'd be lucky to even name the few sets they have stuffed away in storage. That is the case with all my friends who liked Bionicle when we were kids, they grew up.

Do I think G3 could happen? Maybe. If it does I hope to someday be a parent then, as perhaps the best way to rekindle my best memories of Bionicle would be to share it with my kids. My G1 experience was that of a child, my G2 was that of a cynical adult. If G3 does happen I would hope to experience it very differently.

Yeah it's true. Truth of the matter is that most of the people who were into the line in say 2002 are gone now. The modern bionicle fanbase is only a small percentage of the kids who grew up with it. Audiences online may appear big but in reality they're a very small minority. People don't tend to go and actively engage with the things they grew up with. The people who do it online are people from many different areas and countries. And when anything dies content for it online begins to stagnate. It happened with G1 despite it's rich universe. If that's what happened to G1 then how will G2 age?

  7. I don't think it's gonna happen. When you think about it bionicle is the first proper reboot lego have done. They have done space police and other themes a couple times but at the end of the day they are reboots in name only. Bionicle seems to be the only unique concept of there's which was rebooted and took a lot of elements from the original. What a lot of people forget with the original is that it wasn't a failure by the time they decided to cancel it. It actually still sold and was still relatively well promoted. It's just that the profits were consistently going down. The reason Lego brought it back was to try and recapture the popularity of the original. But it's failed and presumably got even less money. It took the early 2000s profits to justify a comeback in Lego's eyes. That's their standards to do such a thing. So I think unless there is a major policy change at Lego they won't do it again. And if they create a line that's able to be more popular then both bio G2 and HF then I think that's gonna make it even less likely. Hate to be a downer but I think this is the end.

  8. I think Lego will just give up on constraction for a while. When/if they do make a comeback I have a feeling they'll make a theme that's somewhere inbetween bionicle and HF. Not too complicated but not too simplistic (kinda like ninjago).

It's something of a tragedy that the first 12 or whatever years of this site are lost to history. A personal tragedy, at least.

Doubt it would have helped. The only country this series is known to have aired in is the UK. Although I am thinking of getting in contact with Huw of brickset to see if he knows anything about it. He's been running that site since 1997.

    was talking about bzp

Yeah I know. Just saying the Huw might know something.

  11. Hello there. In recent months I've developed an interest in lost pieces of media (particularly animation) and has made me want to find a lost piece of Lego history.

Look at this topic for more details on that piece of history:

    http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/11717-old-lego-adventurers-cartoon/

I believe this may exist somewhere and I believe I may be able to find evidence of it by looking through archives of Lego fansites. However though I don't know all the fansites and the only one I could think of did not have archives going back to 1998. If anyone could help me find old lego fansites that have archives going back to 1998 I would appreciate it.

P.S Not sure if this should go in the Lego discussion. I consider it off-topic as it is about my search for a very obscure mini-series.

  12. I liked it when it first came out. Bionicle had been present as far as I can remember so it was nice to see something different. But my opinion towards it has declined over the years. Whilst sets such as witch doctor did show that the theme could do something it was too bogged down by the cheaper sets which have not aged well at all. The 2.0 sets look terrible now and they were out only five years ago. In all honesty the only thing that really held the theme together was the time it was released. They had a whole new building system so the sets were kinda interesting at the time. But G2 just blew nearly 5 years worth of sets out the water. So these days I don't really care that much for HF. Or even miss it for that matter.

  13. I would like to point out the wording of Lego's tweets. They simply said bionicle. They did not specify which version. And the recent press announcement shows that G2 is now the official name. They also said that some products were more successful then others. This could mean a number of things. For example select figures could have sold well whilst the others sold poorly. Or G2 may have failed and they could just be referring to G1.

Seeing as most robots would have those areas covered to allow them to not short out in water: probably not, sorry. An armour breach would be required, like we said.

Also, something to consider: Kavok Quake was in prison the last time he was seen. Similar to the other villain involved in the attack on the police station, Night Stalker, he'd also have quite a lengthy sentence- mass murder isn't exactly something to be brushed off. Now, I get that's an issue- naturally you want to play as your character- so if you'd like you can pitch how he's escaped the prison. But remember: canonically, he was taken to prison, handed over, and locked up. He wouldn't be escaping from the Hero who captured him, he'd have to get out of the prison itself.

I completely forgot about that detail, sorry. But, while I'm here, it's also going to apply to Night Stalker. He's mentioned a reduced sentence, but I get the feeling that mass murder doesn't get much of a reduction, even with good behaviour. He's also voiced a want to do good, so it'll be a bit trickier to get him out of prison, but hey.

Sorry, guys. I know you want to play with them, and I don't want to stop you, but, uh... they did shoot up a police station. And then, in Night Stalker's case, go on to kill more people on a public street. You're gonna have to work around that. Like with Heroes, Villain actions also have consequences.

Well I believe all the villains are in a temporary prison as the HF was destroyed. So from there I have two proposals for escape.

Scenario 1: The temporary prison is poorly constructed and he exploits this to get out.

Scenario 2: A prison guard is sympathetic to him and let's him get out.

Actually, all the villains are in a proper prison- to be exact, the prison Corroder attacked in the second Hero Factory episode. I think it was mentioned by another GM somewhere? Another thing to add to the FAQ I need to do I guess. Additionally, Hero Factory is certainly not the only place to keep villains; there are several named ones in canon, and it's implied Hero Factory sends them there too. Point is, the prison would be pretty decently made, which knocks out your first scenario.

Your second scenario is highly unlikely. Kavok Quake is in there for mass murder. I'm assuming the guards would have access to this information. That's a tough thing to feel sympathetic about, and additionally letting him out might mean he'd just go do it again.

It's a really tricky situation, honestly. And I'm not doing it to be mean, it's just that this is where the last RPG left him, and we want him out but with a reason that would work. I've been talking with some of the other GMs about it, and hopefully we'll be able to get you a good reason he's escaped soon.

I know we have to keep things making sense. No need to apologize. Anyway:

Scenario 3: Quake is broken out by a villain who wants to use his knowledge in making explosives to their advantage

Scenario 4: Finds a way out while the guards are distracted.

Oh I haven't been here in a while. Had no idea this was happening. Makes sense though. Soft reboot would work great for me.

    Name: Kavok Quake

Powers and abilities: Minigun can use radioactive materials (as long as he's near some) for more harmful blasts.

He is also very good at making bombs.

Weapons: One small hand made mingun that attaches to his arm via the large ammo holder on his upper arm.

    Appearance:

    tumblr_nx3muh3u5t1tkkw4ko1_540.jpg

This minus the red printing on his chest.

Bio: A villain, but one with good intentions. After having his home destroyed by a hero due to an accident in a mission, and seeing various people he considered innocent imprisoned by HF he comes to conclusion that hero factory is an oppressive organization that should be destroyed.

    Location: Antopolis city, Traferous' ship

Looks fine to me, but like Zippy mentioned, the radioactive goo is going to require an armor breach to have maximum effect. Basically like using a poisoned weapon; the poison's only really going to mess someone up if it gets into a wound.

    GM approval 3/3.

Sorry for being gone for so long. Yeah I'm alright with this being a limit to the character. I'm assuming that means places the shoulder and neck aren't armoured and hence can be hit?

  18. The details all seem to be different although all of the lego employees seem to be saying that at some point in the near future bionicle will end again. So from that I'd say it's a pretty safe bet to say bio will end at the end of 2017. I think Lego may not continue original contraction themes for a while on account of the licensed constraction sets doing very well. So they might fall back on those for a while. And if it does end next year I wouldn't suggest getting your hopes up for G3. G2 would probably have to do amazingly well in order for lego to consider doing that.
