  1. OH MY GOODNESS, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, THIS HAS MADE MY NIGHT!

To answer your question, LL, seeing as I have worked twelve hours todays AND WILLHAVE TO WORK MOST OF THE DAY TOMORROW BECAUSE OF MY BIRTHDAY, I HAVE VERY MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT IT

But I think it suits me ultimately, even though I hate the way this day is portrayed in the media.

  2. I miss Tuggles.

    THE FEELS! ;-;

But I've been on here so long that I just can't count how many fond memories I've had on this site. When the Bionicle story was still going through its mid life crisis, I was always excited to get a reply from Greg about the latest theory I had. It was really cool that he set aside some time for the fans.

Then there were all of my old bzpower friends that are nowhere to be found, my really old and really terrible comic series, then there was reading Tales of the Chibi Toa, reading all of those silly movie parodies by SPIRIT, and entering contests even though I never won first.

    Those were the days.

  3. Actually Tahu just had a rude awakening one day. In an unfortunate prank gone wrong accident, Takua melted Jaller's mask into two yellow gears. Fearing the consequences of his actions, he abandoned the unconscious Jaller and slipped into Tahu's chambers as Tahu had spent the previous night playing the new version of "Muaka Hunter 3,000" (as he had been an avid collector of the 2,999 previous games) and was much too tired to perform his toa duties. Takua then proceeded to steal Tahu's hau and spray painted it yellow with his secret stash of MS Paint supplies (which is how he went from lightish blue and yellow to a deeper blue in 2003). Unsure of what to do with the gears, Takua decided to hide the evidence of his guilt under Tahu's pillow, hoping that Tahu would assume the great Pin and Axel fairy had granted his secret desire for a cooler gear function. Takua then fled the scene and placed the now yellow Hau onto Jaller. All was going well until Makuta formed a shadow hand that slapped Tahu right in the face, whereupon the gears permanently fused to the back of his head.

Unfortunately, this was omitted from the canon storyline as C.A. Hapka was replaced.

  4. I really like this. The use of colors and the emphasis on the lava really bring out a powerful feeling when I look at it. It makes me think of Tahu as more than just a character, but a personification of his element.

Really in the latter years I started to think less and less of the characters as having elemental roots and more as action heroes (and even antiheroes at times). I always like seeing the Toa Mata portrayed like this. It makes me feel like I'm looking back at Bionicle's roots.

  5. Well, I'm not holding my breath for a Bionicle reboot.

However, will we ever have that kind of experience in another LEGO franchise? I'd say it's possible at the very least. Bionicle was largely popular and lasted an entire decade without reboots or the like. I can't remember too much from my childhood that focused, mainly, on the same heroes and characters for such a large span of time.

Basically, I think any company that hits a bullseye like that and doesn't learn anything for future releases is pretty dull. If there's anything I know about the LEGO company, it's that they are far from dull. They have a lot of employees that come up with some seriously cool and innovating ideas. Are all of them winners? No, but that doesn't stop them.

As for a series with such life in it, I did have my hopes up for Heroica, although that didn't seem to catch on and it seemed to be more of a "make your own overall plot" similar to Castle sets. It gives the games a lot of story potential, however a lot of that is personalized and it's not something everyone can share in like MNOG.

I also have some hope for the LEGO movie. They seem to have thought out their own sort of universe for the plot to take place in. There was also LEGO Universe which was fun, but seemed to lack a concrete culture for the in-game characters.

We've had a fair share of swings from Lego (and what appears to be a few more coming), although I can't say if they'll come up with something that's as good as Bionicle any time soon.

  6. I'm looking forward to this movie. Based on the trailers, the humor used seems up my alley, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the main character in action.

I'm loving some of the references such as the flip-faced cop and the 1980's space guy. The style reminds me of the LEGO Studios sets I got as a kid. My brothers and I would make short films starring our friend's hamster among big names like Johnny Thunder. Of course we didn't have CGI technology to work with, but that's where this comes in. I'm really hoping the makers of this movie had the mentality of returning to childhood and making movies with their favorite toys.

  7. I liked this story. It's always nice to read about Metru Nui arcs and this one is no exception.

I like the explanation of tower 19 and being someone who came up with theories for the Bionicle story over the years growing up, I can sympathyze with the idea of "the graveyard of ideas."

I'm also fond of how this story ties directly to the 2004 story of how a matoran discovered something so important as a Great Disk location.

You did a good job portraying Ehrye's character. He was likable and easy to relate to for anyone who has ever had hopes of achieving something of significance, be it greatness or a simple job promotion.

    Nice work. ^^

  8. This is an interesting question. I'm not that strong or fit, really, so that rules out stone. I am pretty fickle about my opinions (if I had a record of everything I've ever said and done, I bet I could find loooads of contradictions) so that might be along the lines of air. My personality is pretty lax and I prefer to avoid confrontation. I suppose that sounds more like water or earth. In a toa team, I'd probably prefer to remain in the shadows and only really chip in when something serious comes along like a strong argument that would separate the team. If that were to occur, I might try words first, and then action later (something like creating a wall around two people to keep them from walking away).

So, I suppose earth would be the best fit based on all of that.

  9. If I had to choose, I would pick Toa Lhikan's dual swords. They double as a shield (which seems like my kind of approach because I hate confrontation) and it allows you to fly. Never again shall I lose when playing monkey-in-the-middle! >=3

If I had a sword, it would be one of Bitil's swords, just 'cuz they look cool. Or maybe Kopaka Mata's sword. That weapon was pure awesomeness, it would look amazing in real life. I've always imagined that it could split into two single-edged swords.

Edit: I'm still not changing my answer, but you have an excellent point there. Also, if that sword could separate, that would be amazing. ^^

  10. Ha, that was my first reaction as well. I really want to see what her hair looks like at back of her figure. I'm guessing it will be in the 'done up' style from the last third of the movie since it doesn't seem in any way long.

That's pretty much what I'm guessing and hoping for as well. However, if it is long, it'll probably be a lengthy strand of rubber swirls that go down to the full height of the figure and branch off 90 degrees to continue on the floor (which I seriously doubt is what they did XP).

As for the set itself, I'm fine with a pastel color scheme. It definitely fits with how vivid the movie is. However, I would be less inclined to get the set if the inside of the tower is completely inaccurate or if it just doesn't look like it has potential for play.

I will say, however, that there is a distinct lack of a Mother Gothel minifigure and I am disappoint.

  11. RAPUNZEL AND MERIDA! EEEEEEEEEE! 8D

    =cough-

    Sorry...

Anyway, they look interesting. I'm not too fond of the sleek dress mold being used for each Princess as Cinderella's gown is much more poofy in the film (buuuut I can see how a big, poofy ball gown could get in the way of posablility).

I hope Rapunzel's Tower doesn't cost too much because it definitely looks like a fun set.

As for Merida's set, I see a lot of elements that were present in the movie Brave in her set, so it looks like a nice addition for any fan of the movie (not to mention it looks like it'll be affordable).

Also, the Mountain Hut looks like a really cool Creator set. I might pick that one up within the next few years. Combined with my lighthouse I'll probably start working on a mini-scale Minifig island of sorts (With the series minifigs, I have quite a few figures without homes or beds. Maybe I should make them a little resort to stay at)

Anyway, as for Hero Factory, I'll probably be window shopping the Breeze set for a while before actually getting it (like I normally do with HF sets).

All in all, these look pretty neat. ^^

  12. Such a simple answer. The Turaga blocked off all escape from Metru Nui and hosted a sort of competition where the only means of escape was a successful mutual killing where the true culprit's identity is unknown to the rest of their peers.

Truthfully, though, I think it may have gone something like this:

Nokama: Yeah, so Mata Nui's dying and you're all up Karzahni river without your Kanohi masks (oh wait that's not until later, nevermind).

Jaller: Why, this is so important that it puts the Matoran strike into an insignificant part of the plot! After all, there's no sense in fixing the city if we're all doomed. What's important is to round up a small amount of beings with no powers of their own and save our super-powered companions who are royally tied up and imprisoned without their Kanohi (oh wait I don't know that yet nevermind) and best whatever unknown perils that even they could not escape (but, you know, we have good on our side, so let's do this. MATORAAAAN JALLER!)

Basically, the news itself was so huge that Jaller thought there to be a larger sense of urgency to help the Nuva than to worry about fixing a supposedly doomed city. By saving Mata Nui, they would have saved Metru Nui. The city itself waited thousands of years, so it could probably wait another year or so until it got repaired.

Edit: Although, as for when the strike itself ended... It would probably have been later after Mata Nui was saved. The Turaga probably would have told them the truth when there was no threat of panic. That would've been around... the 2008 story arc?

  13. 1: Games

    2: Minifigures

Over the years I've been leaning away from Bionicle and Hero Factory in terms of sets. I've been going more towards building block sets and miniatures are my favorites. Some of the coolest miniatures come from games (I'm especially happy with my LEGO City Police game).

Minifigures are always fun as well. I love mixing and matching and coming up with my own little story with a fairly large cast of characters. The Series Minifigs are very great for this as well as customized figures.

  14. WAHOO!

And the shipping commences! >=3 (as if it ever stopped)

A lovely birthday for our lovely Katie. Congratulations!

Now then, I'll be off swooning over those adorable kitty pictures for the rest of the day. =P

  15. Grab some cake, people, we have celebrating to do!

We have two birthday brothers today: Akano: Toa of Electricity and Kopaka Kurahk!

Eh, if you have no idea who they are, don't worry. I grew up with them and I'm still surprised I know their names, let alone their birthday.

Akano is a comic maker who started his series a long time ago when we were kids. For whatever reason, he's kept at it (although I can't remember when his last update was. =P). Kopaka Kurahk isn't as active on BZP, but he still lurks around, popping up in Akano's comics and all.

Also, I believe it's -Reznas-'s birthday too, so be sure to give that guy some attention as well. ^^

Happy birthday bros! May you forever be older than me. =P
