  1. Thanks for doing this. I'm often finding things I like and then forgetting exactly what they're called and end up having to dig through a bunch of other stuff to find it. I think this topic will really help keep things organized as more and more products become available.
  2. Thanks for the message. I'm glad you didn't mind my attempts to contact you. I have replied. I really like those repainted Tohunga. Tamaru and Kopeke look great. Tamaru's feet in particular stand out to me as just about as close a color match as can be. I'm curious, are those the result of your own personal projects or were those commissioned? I'd really like to see more of those types of things if you have any more examples. What made you decide to go with the set form of Tamaru rather than his color scheme in MNOLG? And it looks like Kopeke got his mask painted the color of Matoro's instead of getting his legs painted the color of the light blue komau. It looks great either way, but I was just wondering about the small details.
  3. Thanks for posting this. Wish I'd seen this promo before I ordered a couple of things earlier this week, one of which you listed. I think jimmybob83's masks are also available in white strong and flexible, so that means there are several masks that this promo would work for.
  4. Glad to here it, Heir. I knew it had been a while since you'd been active on BZP or DeviantArt and I wasn't sure how much you were checking the Forge and Foundry email, so I'm just happy to know you're back. Sorry again for the overkill of sending you messages through several different sites, but given the fact that I did, will I be hearing back from you through BZP or email?
  5. You're welcome and I appreciate the shout out. I saw this topic a while back but forgot to post. I really like these masks. I feel like they may not all look perfect, but that sort of rough texture makes them look like more like they could have been worn by the characters in the story throughout their adventures. I find the process really interesting and am glad you took the time to describe the process in detail. I'm sure there are many people who'd like to attempt something like this if they had the right equipment. That can also be viewed via webarchive. There's some interesting discussion of the mask there where you can see most people assumed it was molded and you can see what some of the original batch sold for in the B/S/T topic linked in the first post of the above link. I recall at one point, Flintsmith stating that the mask was not molded but had been made purple by applying certain chemicals. Bzpower member, Omega12, was able to achieve similar results.
  6. I tried to contact you back in June and wondered if you had the chance to consider my inquiry
  7. Thanks for posting that Lego Magazine scan. I'd forgotten about that picture. Just to clarify, is this the piece you are referring to as the "Y joint?"
  8. How have I never heard of "sealed" copper Hunas? I've never seen those either. I actually got my first copper huna bundled with a Kopaka Nuva set from Blockbuster back in 2003
  9. I have a couple of sealed Bohrok-Kal, but I've never really been good at determining by looking through the plastic part of the container whether or not there is a WMKK. Are there pictures somewhere of this or tips for the process?
  10. I may be a little late posting this, but I think someone linked to it when it was first made available. Why did this one get so high? I know they're rare, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them much cheaper.
  11. I was looking at the eBay listing but they wouldn't ship it to me anyway. Do you have a comprehensive list of all the required parts? I also wondered if anyone had any opinion on the accuracy of the one in the eBay listing.
  12. How close is the purple color from Shapeways to the purple Bionicle masks? Could you by any chance show a comparison picture of it next to Onepu's mask? I'm on the fence about getting the already purple one or attempting to paint a white one.
  13. It's cool that you were able to find all of those Brickshelf galleries. I have actually seen another version of the Mahi in set form which, although it uses a cut matoran arm, seems just about as close to the original as far as coloring without painting here
  14. I just got my Sand Tarakava in the mail earlier this week on Tuesday, March 24. It actually would have been delivered on March 21, but since I was out of town at the time, I was able to pick it up from the post office when I got back. It was sent on March 10, so that means it took less than two weeks to get from the UK, pass through customs and get to my doorstep in the US for those of you who haven't gotten yours yet or have yet to buy one. The box itself with the Sand Tarakava cover art is placed in brown paper to protect it in it's travel overseas. I put some black boxes over the names and addresses. Yes, I know there are a lot of black boxes, but that's because the post office wrote my name all over it. It was shipped using Royal Mail with a tracking number that could be used on their website and, when it got through customs in the US, could be tracked on the USPS website. I personally find the cover art beautiful and authentic to the original Tarakava while still being new and different. I was happy to find the sticker had no visible sign of wear as a result of the protective brown paper. The back of the box gives a little information about the project and its creation. If you're like me, you may try to open the box from the side. Had I opened the box as intended, I would have seen that it conveniently opens from the front. You can see that the contents are well packaged with bubble wrap. When you first open the box you see the certificate of authenticity signed by the creator himself, a picture showing the difference between the original Sand Tarakava prototype and Munty's replica, and the instructions. Under that we have the bag full of contents. After building the set entirely, I was left with a couple of extra rubber bands, a dark gray ruru to allow you to attempt to paint yellow like the original prototype, and the necessary pieces to build actual prototype design instead of the replica design. And finally, I took a few pictures of the final product: Angle Side Back Overall, I was really happy to be able to get this set from Munty. I know going through Purple Dave's old pictures and trying to reconstruct the original model was a difficult task and, by ordering the rare pieces off Bricklink, Munty really saved me a lot of trouble. I think the cover art is really cool as I said above and the instructions have a likeness to official instructions and attention to detail that makes them like no other fan made instructions I've ever seen. My only problem with them is that they may have turned out clearer if they'd been printed on a different kind of paper (like photo paper) and possibly laminated. Despite this, it's still a great set and I'd recommend it to anyone considering going for one of the remaining Sand Tarakava. Keep in mind, even if you wait for the inventory to be posted online and try to buy the parts off Bricklink yourself, shipping costs from multiple sellers could very well make the sets more expensive than if you take advantage of this opportunity.
  15. Amazing work. I've never heard of the first mask but it's looking really cool. I was actually looking for pictures of the old Voriki mask to use as a basis for a 3D printing design when I stumbled upon this topic. I actually once tried to make my own Voriki mask out of clay and then use a paint on material to make a mold which I used to create a version of the mask in liquid plastic, but it never looked quite right and ended up rather sticky like a jolly rancher when I tried to cast it using liquid plastic. With the rise in 3D printing, I've come to realize that it's probably more possible than it used to be to obtain a quality custom mask without being a master clay sculptor. I really like the way the Voriki mask is looking but would help if the lightning parts were to be angled a little differently? In the original edit, they look a little more diagonal. Seems like if somebody were to make, Voriki's staff, the only thing keeping us from making a full Voriki MOC would be a few recolored Tahu Mata parts. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing with the BZP community. I'm very interested in buying both of these when you finalize the designs.
  16. Hasn't that one been painted? These are both really cool. Thanks for making them available on Shapeways. I saw some other cool models in your brickshelf folder leftover from BNG like the Hagah masks. Do you think those might at some point be made available on Shapeways too? I just don't know if you're the one who modeled them or not.
  17. He hasn't been about for a while, has he?No, I don't think he's been active on here in years. -Letagi I think you're right that it's mfuss903. He hasn't been around much but he did post something not too long ago back in the summer on June 20, 2014 back on page 6 of this topic
  18. $100 for the GPKK (assuming Flintsmith is bidding on the VMKK)
