  1. I'm not too bored, mostly cause I have other things to occupy myself. On the other hand, if one finds themselves bored with the current crop of topics, perhaps they should come up with a topic that they believe would be interesting?
  2. Sadly, we must chase the rest of you out and clean up from this party. Let the old man get back to resting and enjoying his retirement.Topic closed.
  3. Homework, like the nearly graduated college student I am.
  4. (It's A) Departure -~- The Long WintersintoTalk Shows On Mute -~- Incubus
  5. I cried.Functional programming languages drive me crazy. It's not that I'm bad with them, but the inefficiency of them to do things so integral of Object Oriented languages makes them impractical for most things I do on a day to day basis.
  6. Arcade Fire is quite fantastic."Holocene" -~- Bon Iver
  7. I'm graduating this semester from UWEC with a degree in Computer Science. I currently have an internship working mainly in Java based web development. I also know C, C++, C#, and much to my chagrin, Scheme. I have two interviews for full time programming postions post graudation set for Wednesday.
  8. I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to discuss here, but when you have actual material to show I suspect you'll want to post this in the Lego General Discussion forum.Topic closed.
  9. I believe what you're looking for is "Wisconsonites". :PAnyway, good for Milwaukee. It's been forever since I was at the Mayfair Mall. Right now I'm closer to Mall of America though so I doubt I'll be making any trips soon.
  10. I'm guessing this is an Epic so I'll send it off there.
  11. Become a staff member, then you can complain about checking the site feeling like a chore. :PMoved to General Discussion as this is about BZPower.
  12. General discussion is for discussion of BZPower or BZPower related things that don't fit in the other forums, Lego Discussion would be where this topic be belongs.Moving to Lego Discussion.
  13. I was going to think of a clever quip here, but instead I decided just to say thanks and watch the topic be carried away by the wind.Topic closed.
  14. Please don't post in topics that haven't had a new post in over 30 days, that is considered topic revival.Topic closed.
  15. I don't like the direction of this topic. This is supposed to be a discussion of what the future of BZPower is, not a outlet for your whining and ranting about perceived staff injustices towards members. You are always more than welcome to bring those up to a staff member directly (and if we come off as robotic just remember that a lot of us do have multiple responsibilites and sometimes want to take care of things efficiently as possible) or if you have a broader discussion you can create a new topic where the discussion can be focused. And one quick note (yeah, I know, right after I say to get the discussion back on track, so sue me ) Look, i don't personally know who those staff members may be, but being good friends with a number of staff members, especially elder ones, I can whole heartedly say that the vast majority don't feel that way. Many express that they want to stay staff members, even if they don't have all the time in the world to dedicate to it, so that they can continue to help a site that was so influential to them in their youth. If anyone is still in their positions cause it's considered cool then they're doing it for the wrong reason.
  16. Yep, feel free to repost it.Answered and closed.
  17. Oh jeez, let's see.11 years ago I was a somewhat socially awkward 11 year old kid living in a small Wisconsin town. I was fascinated with computers, the internet (we had just got cable internet at that time I think), and of course Lego. I remember seeing the ad for Tahu on the back of the Lego Magazine and instantly wanting the new set. I quickly absorbed as much about Bionicle as I could, and eventually sought out more. About midyear in 2002 I found a site called BZPower. I started reading the news and set reviews on it, learning about the new Bionicle sets I hadn't even heard about yet! I decided to join the forums right around the time they went down. I had forgotten about them for awhile and sort of rediscovered them in December when I finally made the leap to join. Since then I've grown. I went from being an overly excitable new member with poor grammar to forming more and more coherent sentences and meaningful posts. Somewhere along the line I figured I'd start helping people about and contributing to the forum in a significant way. This would lead to my eventual acceptance to the staff which has arguably changed the person I am. I would have never thought you could have significant relationships/friendships with people on the internet, yet here I am, good friends with a number of staff and have even spent time with Watashi Wa and Black Six in person and through other outlets like Xbox Live. I also feel like having staff responsibilities taught me how to handle real world responsiblities better. As I continued to grow up I graduated high school and went to college and made the first significant move of my life. I've since had my own apartment since mid 2010, started working at an internship in my field in the spring of 2011, and inch closer and closer to my graduation from college with a degree in computer science this spring. It's been one heck of a wild ride to this point and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.
  18. I can't handle these changes, this isn't the lego I knew!
  19. There won't be elections for judges, that's a logistical nightmare that boils down to nothing more than a popularity contest.
  20. Which is bad whyyyy?I'm always amazed at your need to be argumentative on any subject. As for your question of why, if it's about the LEGO thing well in that case we lose access to events like Toy Fair and exclusive information on future sets and sets to review. If you want to know why it's bad to become like every other site, then we lose part of our identity and what makes us unique. We've carved out a little niche on the web, why suddenly become less unique in an environment inundated with sites filling the same needs?
  21. As some of you may notice, we haven't really come to a full conclusion on how to run this forum yet.Well, I'd like ot at least reach out and explain what we're thinking of moving forward. Basically, we are planning on using a similar judging system as COT RPGs. This allows us to ensure that the RPGs posted in this forum are of the best quality and bring the most entertainment value to RPG pursuers. I haven't fully decided who will make up this team, but should be addressing that concern in the coming days and/or weeks. When everything is ready to go, there will be topics made that explain what the process, rules, etc... are for this forum. In the mean time, please do not PM me requesting to post an RPG here, those PMs will be ignored. Anyway, if you have any feedback, ideas for the forum, or perhaps a question please post them here.
