  1. I mean, us old-timers have already been through this same thing before when Bionicle ended the first time. Some of us tried to keep the dream alive through fan-continuations, though many of those turned out to be easier said than done. Some of us moved on to other Lego themes, and some of us moved on to other interests entirely. And even among the people who completely lost interest in Bionicle, many of them maintained the relationships they had formed as part of the fandom, including those here on BZPower and elsewhere. For my part, I will probably continue to enjoy other Lego themes with other members of the fandom, and continue MOCing both Constraction and non-Constraction creations. But that's not to say you have to do the same thing. The community can and will do any number of things in the aftermath of Bionicle's end, but what you do is entirely up to you.

This kind of nonsense is why I miss your flash animations. <3

  4. Regarding it being short, do keep in mind that the game will continue to unlock content (including items that can be sent to the main game) over the course of the month. Moreso than other game demos I've played, this demo (like the ORAS demo before it) seems aimed not just at giving a taste of the full game but also at maintaining the hype for the game up to the release date.
  5. 2017 is shaping up to be the year of the tile, what with the new 2x3 tile and all the new tiles in this set...
  6. I don't think that necessarily counts since none of the stone sets in the second generation actually have brown as a primary color. They have Dark Orange, which is much more of an earth tone than, say, Bright Orange or Flame Yellowish Orange (and was one of the original '01 stone colors to boot). And considering that the "brown" of the original Pohatu was ALSO considered a shade of orange (Earth Orange, to be precise), I'd say Dark Orange qualifies.
  7. Worst case scenario: 2016 Gali sold poorly because she's a female character. I'd like to believe otherwise, but as much as society has progressed, many pre-teen boys probably still have hangups about girls. However, that wouldn't explain 2015 Lewa being left over and on clearance, and there are plenty of other explanations as well. 2016 Gali has one of the most generic builds of the 2016 Toa, despite her asymmetrical armor. 2015 Lewa had odd proportions and two weapons that could be considered less impressive than, say, Gali's even bigger axe or Tahu's giant swords. Both sets had color schemes that diverged somewhat from the others, with bold, contrasting secondary colors. It could even just be limited to that one location—a single anecdote, even at a prominent location like Legoland, might not accurately reflect sales trends for all of Denmark let alone the whole world. The good news: if neither version of Pohatu was overstocked and on clearance, then perhaps you could take that as anecdotal evidence that brown sets no longer sell as poorly as they used to during G1.
  8. Bionicle didn't need to fail for any of those things to happen. So I don't see why you'd think Lego would be any less disappointed with its failure than the fans are.
  9. I'm excited—so long as they can keep the animation quality the same or better and maintain the show's great voice cast.
  10. I like all three of the evolved starters (though I'm still thinking I'll go with the grass-type). The Festival Plaza seems to be essentially the same thing as Join Avenue from Black 2 and White 2 and honestly, I couldn't be happier. That was a great feature. Poké Pelago also sort of reminds me of My Pokémon Ranch on the Wii. Though it seems like it might have a bit more functionality. I'm glad that Mega Evolution is returning, after rumors that it wouldn't. Now the main question is whether new Mega Evolutions will continue to be added, either in this game or in future remakes. The demo sounds good, though I too dislike the name "Ash-Greninja". Even if it made some degree of sense in the animé it sure doesn't anywhere else.
  11. Pick-A-Brick DID once have CCBS parts, but apparently it was confusing for consumers who didn't have CCBS sets or recognize the connection points of those parts. People would buy/order parts and then be confused about how to actually integrate them with their predominantly System-based collections. I would not be surprised if that's why those sorts of parts have not been available on Pick-a-Brick since then, since Lego is very concerned about maintaining customer satisfaction, and as such eliminating that sort of confusion is an important step toward making sure no customer regrets their purchases. Another factor is that Pick-A-Brick draws from a pool of parts that are currently available, and with Bionicle ending that pool is going to be becoming quite a bit smaller as far as CCBS parts are concerned, at least for the near future.
  12. Seems you spoke a little too soon... we just got our second update of the year today. No new Bionicle parts, but a decent selection of other parts from the second half of this year.
  13. The solution to that is not to re-design the hand, but the weapon. From the start, Zamor launchers and their ilk were made to need the hand to hold them that way; but if, instead, the handle was positioned so that the hand could hold the weapon in the standard "broad side facing inward" position, it would look just fine. Same with "perpendicular to the plane of the hand" weapons--the weapon should be designed so that it can be held in the normal position, as with '08 Lewa's sword. So why couldn't you just as easily design new weapons similar to Ehlek's claws to work better with the existing fist piece? I don't understand blaming the hand piece for awkward weapon grip in some cases and blaming the weapon itself in others. It wouldn't really be any harder to "fix" Ehlek's claw than to do the same for the Nynrah Ghost Blaster: https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8523/29441850743_706450bb9e_o.png A claw like this would arguably even look more realistic on either a Y-joint or a fist piece, since it'd wrap around the hand instead of just being sorta pasted onto the back. I've thought about the possibility of such a piece before; however, there's the issue of removing the weapon once you get it on. Looking at the design, I'd imagine you need an axle to attach the weapon to the hand. However, once it's on, wouldn't it be stuck on the hand, with no way to get it off? Since the connection points are just a half module thick and two modules apart, there should be no risk of an axle becoming stuck. Even the shortest axles (2M) would stick out by a half module, just enough to reach the built-in notch and pull them out. Same as with the shell pieces from Kalmah, Carapar, and Toa Mahri Matoro, or the Unity Piece from this year's Bionicle sets. Not sure if my explanation is clear, but here's an illustration in case it's too confusing: Alternatively, only having connection points on either the top or the bottom (but not both) would solve the problem effectively.
  14. I've never been burned by a preorder. But then, I only really preorder games I'm confident in (by virtue of the series/developer being one I trust to deliver a great experience), and then, only when there's some advantage to doing so (usually a case where there's a physical pre-order bonus or I'm already preordering other items that release on the same day).
  15. I am really enjoying it though it does make me wish we could get a full anime series like this but telling the complete story of the game series (rather than the somewhat broad-strokes adaptation that is Ash's adventures).
  16. Personally I like Lewa's unusual shoulders and arms. They don't really hinder his posability much from what is realistic for a human figure, and make his build and proportions more interesting and unique.
  17. Hence why I only said "slightly more likely". I don't think Lego is in any hurry to license their characters out to a maker of cheap vinyl figurines, especially with their own brick-built versions on the horizon. And while I don't see Lego rushing to make Bionicle ones right after the theme's cancellation, if the BrickHeadz are successful enough to last until a hypothetical G3, then I could see Bionicle ones being made. Still a pretty unlikely scenario, but perhaps less so than Funko POP figures. I certainly wouldn't mind more Bionicle references in other themes, either. I don't know how likely it'd be to see those sorts of references in City, but if The Lego Movie sets can give us "Blacktron Fan" and "Fabu-fan" then surely a Bionicle Fan wouldn't be too out of the ordinary.
  18. That's a legit advertisement. Like Lyichir said, it'd make an absolutely amazing poster. I was talking about the Lego Elves cover on the Yellow Brick insert, actually.
  19. Man, I'd love to get the cover art from that Yellow Brick insert without all the text as a poster. It looks amazing!
  20. I did like the bows (especially given that both Umarak and Skull Warrior had melee weapon options as well), but I do think that Umarak's weapon choices felt like a bit of a retread of Skull Warrior's—it might have been more interesting if his bow had been based around a spring shooter like the blasters of the Star Wars figures released around the same time.
  21. I... don't know. Honestly I don't see it as a thing that would ever happen in the first place, and in a scenario where it did there's no telling what else would exist alongside them to compete for my dollars. However, if given a choice between the two, I would personally prefer the slightly more likely scenario of Bionicle BrickHeadz.
  22. It's still not enough to help me make a final decision about which game I want... I also am kind of surprised that they described the different forms of Lycanroc as version exclusives, since I had thought that the original Japanese announcement merely explained it as evolving it during the day or night. If that were the case then it'd certainly be easier to get those forms in their respective games (what with the day/night cycle switched in Pokémon Moon), but wouldn't be impossible to get the opposite form if you evolved it during IRL night. Perhaps it's a case where it's only "exclusive" in the wild but you can still evolve either form yourself?
  23. The site was in a pretty weak state last time, what with several months of downtime and the loss of a substantial amount of content. With BZP still active I don't think I'd consider the site in a "weaker state", since the downtime was just as much to blame for the site's post-Bionicle decline if not moreso.
  24. For bulk purchases eBay is probably your best bet. Buying parts individually can become costly no matter who or where you're buying from, but bulk lots are fairly common on eBay.
  25. I always thought that the Kaukau ought to have other uses. Even if it couldn't allow its user to breathe in an environment with no oxygen, like a vacuum, it could have potentially had its powers expanded to allow it to filter things like smoke or poison gas. But canonically, I'm fairly sure its powers are limited to breathing underwater.
