  1. I remember playing a game of D&D that consisted of nothing but a few members of our party attacking each other. They got pretty creative, until the wizard rolled a 1 on a spell and brought a table to life. That stopped basically everything. You know, by killing everyone. Oh, and then there was the time when they created a "Peasant Rail Gun" by lining up peasants from a town and having them pass along a metal pole. I forget how that turned out.

    Who Wants Portal 2?

I do have it, but I'm experiencing some issues with network access. Here's hoping I can get the coupon to you early enough for you to use it.
  3. I remember reading that for middle school. It was a great alternative to the typical bombardment of concentration camp suffering and Hiroshima deaths. It was almost a relief, that there was actually a different perspective on WWII and the Third Reich--the perspective of a child and a citizen. It wasn't a moralizing busload of "hey look, suffering!"; there was a totally different layer to the book. Good stuff. Not sure if I'd recommend it to everyone, but it's certainly great for what it is. They're just celebrating Liesel's legacy. Or something.
  4. Yeah, those were pretty neat. Provided with more opportunities to customize them (my collection was always severely lacking), I'd probably prefer them over regular minifigs. Oh no you didn't. MUH BAWNKULLZ

    The Shreddies Entry

Most cereal is so flavorful because it's easy to taste in the morning. Any other time, most cereals taste like pure sugar.
  6. Depends. I personally wouldn't listen to it, but if that were for some reason important to me (e.g., in a medicine class, prone to blood pressure issues), I would.
  7. So, I apparently have a 75%-off Steam coupon for Portal 2 (and it expires August 30). If anyone would like it, you can have it. Just inform me of your account name and I'll get it to you some time tomorrow.

    A Lot Of Time

Blanket term for any way of making up for lost schooling, typically by "testing out" of the courses you missed. In America, we have General Educational Development tests, which assess one's knowledge on a variety of school subjects. You don't have to take courses through any formal schools--just get a sufficient grade on the tests. The tests prove that you have the skills required/expected of a high school graduate. (At least, that's what I assume Sisen was talking about.)
  11. I agree. There's nothing better than using BZP staff warnings in everyday speech. My catchphrase has long been "Image linked; do not post images over 500 KB in size."
  12. *THY *WITH (Also, one cannot "uplift" a pencil--unless they use very encouraging words.) What I'm saying is: if you'd like an editor or something like that, I might be able to help. Other than that, I don't think this is really my sort of thing.
  13. And when I see how sad you are It sort of makes me... Happy! (Happy?!) Sorry, Nicky, human nature- Nothing I can do! It's... schadenfreude! Making me feel glad that I'm not you. (Well that's not very nice, Gary!) (I didn't say it was nice! But everybody does it!) D'ja ever clap when a waitress falls and drops a tray of glasses? [REDACTED] And don'tcha feel all warm and cozy, Watching people out in the rain! (You bet!) That's... Schadenfreude! People taking pleasure in your pain!
  14. What language is "bibliotheca"? It's like some bizarre combination of bibliotheque and biblioteca, so... Portuguese? EDIT: Darn English keyboard.
  15. Yes, we would all like to hear. You should probably say stuff like that in your blog.

    Finnegans Wake

Behold! The extremely-annotated Finnegans Wake. Never again wonder what some Latin pun means; and even see selections from the first draft!

    So.

  18. A few basic possibilities: a. You don't understand intuitively what's being said. b. The languages are more "euphonic" than English. Try listening to Mandarin Chinese. It's like using a cheese grater on your ear. c. You only find the best/most famous examples of foreign music. There's just as much bad or insipid Japanese and Swedish music (although certain different trends and styles can dominate foreign regions, so there's some variety as to the style of bad music). Yes, there's a Swedish Justin Bieber out there; you've just never heard of him because he's not famous outside of Sweden.* *The reason why people in Sweden have heard of den Biebern is because American music is internationally influential.

    Possible FiM Season 3 Images

(491 KB--just barely making it!) Wow, those are awesome. First one seems wrong somehow, though. Wasn't that gem used in another design?
  20. It's really just surprising that we have a staff member who's actually twenty three-year-old children. And it sure took us long enough to discover this; he really had it under wraps. I thought Gatanui was odd, but this is just insane. Thank you, dear posters of this topic, for your investigation that uncovered this horrible truth.Oh, right... His... birth... day. oopsHappy birthday, McSmeag!
