  1. You mean eleven-minute episodes? Because those have also been around forever (e.g., Spongebob Squarepants at 11 to 12, KND at 11 to 12, Looney Tunes at 6 to 10, Phineas and Ferb--one of the more clever shows, and extremely popular with adults even--at 11 to 12; all sketch comedy is based on very short skits rather than long "episodes"). Plus, that's not what's happening with MLP.
  2. Actually, guys, thirteen-episode seasons are pretty common. In this case, it'll bring FiM up to 65 episodes total, typical for syndication. And it's not an issue with "these days." As early as the 1960s, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? has approx. 13.67 episodes per season. Within your childhood, Kids Next Door had thirteen "whole" (i.e., half-hour) episodes per season. The same is true of The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, and Invader Zim. A bunch of other cartoons had around seventeen to twenty episodes each season, and these were particularly successful productions. (Sadly, I cannot compare FiM's success with that of these other cartoons, since I can't find any data, and the prevalence of MLP merchandise might confuse the issue. I'd appreciate any information, though. ) There was a Kung Fu Panda cartoon (from last year, still running) that went the same route as FiM, and The Penguins of Madagascar (from four years ago, still running) had 22 "whole" episodes per season. There's no huge "trend" in cartoon lengths, nor in talking down to children. You shouldn't talk so much like a millenarian or an old coot. Your frame of reference goes back around ten years. It's just silly.
  3. Isn't the first question just a matter of fact? If there's a majority of humanoids, there's a majority of humanoids. There's no "belief" in that equation.

It's not the atoms that are self-aware. It's not the arrangement of atoms either. Awareness is an emergent behavior, so it comes from the interaction of neurons (and thus organelles, atoms, etc.).

    Since I'm bored...

Ding, ding, ding. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. Seriously, Gravity Falls is practically the new MLP: FiM, especially in terms of its rapidly expanding Internet following.

    Banners

Blurred without text. This is based on gut instinct alone, which I suppose makes since given it's about a banner. This is the one that I'd be most interested in and likely to click.

    Lucid Dreaming

I've had one dream where I was aware that I was dreaming during a few brief periods, so I altered its course a bit, but I haven't done anything beyond that.
  8. Honestly, I don't have too much to say. The build is really compact, with just enough attention to detail: You make it seem very complete without overwhelming us with unnecessary bells and whistles. It's hard to build something this small without reverting to an extremely simplistic style that stops at the basic and doesn't develop "outward."Let's see if I can say anything specific. Pretty good job sawing off the backs of the Bohrok feet--you had me fooled into thinking those were actual pieces at first. The torso is very well done and obviously the highlight of the MOC. The "armor" piece gives it a great flow. As others have said, the legs need more black. If you wanted to make this a bit more realistic (and allow for more black), you could increase the size of the legs, perhaps using a custom design rather than a single piece.~ BioGio

    I made a skin

For clarification, I mean Personal Messages and--I think--notifications. The last time I went to the home page was weeks ago. (Every time I see the search button now, I think "Who's PM'd me?") Anyway, if you don't want to change it, that's fair enough. I just thought that the old pinkish color might be better on the search bar and for page numbers (where it was used before).
  10. ITT: People who only watch Hollywood blockbusters. Probably the best trilogy that I can think of (off the top of my head) is The Three Colors Trilogy by Krzysztof Kieslowski. (Also, I agree with DeeVee and xccj on just about everything.)

    I made a skin

I'm seconding this opinion. It's a bit unsettling since a similar red had been used in the previous skin to point out new PMs and such. Perhaps something in the vein of the old pinkish red would work better?
  12. Congratulations! You sure got there really fast; I wonder if you set a record.
  13. Beware the spooks of unity through nationalism and even humanism, for they are alienating concepts which serve to belittle the Ego. (Yup, Marluxia has it backwards: Proper--stirnerist--egoism directly opposes these divisions.)
  14. Season Two is going to surprise you. She moves out of the spotlight, to make room for other characters to get more of "their own" episodes. (This trend, of course, begins in the first season, but it's most pronounced in Season Two).~ BioGio
  15. Grey-ish color theme (except for a dull red "search" button), gears as decoration--especially in the blogs--, icons of faces/eyes staring... yup, BIONICLE Zone Power is now a dystopia. (Brave New Zone Power?) Not that the old one wasn't also "dystopia-esque," with its nearly sterile use of white and pale blue. Wait, what if the entire Internet is a terrible evil future? Anyway, the Takua icon is really cool.
  16. 1. Make entry a draft. 2. Set entry to publish in the near future (e.g., after two minutes). 3. Publish entry. 4. Enjoy the glory of your success. (Sometimes there may be an issue in not seeing it bump immediately, but it should be visible for everyone else.)
  17. It was originally filmed for IMAX (or something to that effect), which allows a greater frame rate and generally clearer picture, so it's got that going for it. Plus, according to one guy who works as a projector, Bane's voice sometimes causes an imbalance or something with the bass in non-IMAX theaters. I haven't had a chance to see TDKR, so I don't personally know. If you're the type to re-watch a movie multiple times while it's still in theaters, it might be a good idea to try to see it in IMAX.

    The Master

EDIT 9/22/12: The release date was revised a while back; The Master actually came out yesterday. I plan to see it Sunday, so I'll try to post a few thoughts here. Is anybody else planning to see it? A new trailer for The Master came out yesterday. There's still a while to wait (with the release date being 12 October), but I'm really looking forward to this one. Oh, and in tribute to the myriad "ask me" entries floating around currently, here are some of the questions asked by Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character (Lancaster Dodd) during a stowaway's informal "processing." Do you make thoughtless remarks? Do you browse through railway timetables for pleasure? Do you get occasional twitches of your muscles when there is no logical reason for it? Do past failures still worry you? Is your life a constant struggle for survival? Would you rather give orders than take them? Are you often impulsive in your behavior? Do other people interest you very much? Do you find it easy to be impartial? Are you likely to be jealous? Are you logical and scientific in your thinking? Do you rarely suspect the actions of others? Are you usually truthful to others? Are your actions considered unpredictable by other people? Do you often ponder over your own inferiority?
  19. Did you have a chance to see it in IMAX?
  20. Which series are you watching? The 2003 version or Brotherhood (which follows the manga more closely)?
  21. Oh, yeah, that's right. I've seen you a lot in the Official MSPA Topic. Did you have to catch up recently? Or did you just mention reading it since one is basically always either reading, or waiting for, Homestuck?

    I have no idea

    1. Make entry a draft. 2. Set to publish at a slightly later time (e.g., a minute or two later). 3. Publish. 4. Wait the appropriate amount of time and then observe the glory of your creation.

    The Master

I just chose it as the "Entry Image" and typed as normal, which caused the text to align by the side of the image. Since the picture was of an appropriate length, all of the text ended up right along its edge.
  24. I vaguely recall that Nicholas Flamel series. It's about alchemy or something, right? Where are you in Homestuck?
  25. Negative three readers? I don't think anyone's that boring.
