  1. I don't think "son" is literal, I imagine it's intended the same way the Toa refer to each other as brother and sister. I won't rule out the idea of these characters being more organic, based off the figures they seem to be more organic with armor attached but we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.
  2. Xarok was the name I gave to a MOC probably back in 2006 or 2007 I can't remember entirely. He was a Toa of sound I think? He was the main hero for my fanfic I never ended up doing, but yeah that's where the name came from.
  3. What makes you say that? A lot of the G1 Matoran were clones with distinct personalities. The Protectors do share the same mask, but that still doesn't mean that they won't have identities. Literally all of them are exact clones. Look at the Fire protectors in the Masks of Power trailer. In G1 Matoran had different masks, colours and personalities. Proper names too. I repeat what I said in another topic, if it's of interest: The 'G1' Matoran are sometimes depicted as all looking the same. There's a crowd of Jalas in one of the 2002 comics, and the Matoran crowds in MOL are also clones (making the main characters with their unique designs look a bit conspicuous). Even the first two villages (Ta and Ga-Koro) seen in the MNOLG had lots of clones, and individual designs for each Matoran didn't show up until Po-Koro and the villages after that. I also think the 30-second animation isn't much to go on. We probably won't get any Protector names until the story at least begins. The Protectors in the animation were shown for what, two seconds? They wouldn't design each individual with a unique appearance for such a small display. You gotta take those animations with a grain of salt after you realize Gali has a man's voice. I'd like Lewa to have more movement with his head but it's pretty much stuck in place. My biggest issue is it's hard for me to add extra stuff to these guys like I used to with G1 Bionicle sets because of so many new molds and I completely skipped Hero Factory. I'm not a big fan of the Protectors. I wish they had actual names instead of just Protector of X. Also, I have some issues with the Lord of Skull Spiders. From what I've seen, it's not that big of a set, compared to the larger Toa. I know he has an army of spiders, but I just would have liked to see a more imposing antagonist for the first arc, I feel like two smaller Toa would be enough to take him on in a fair fight. Maybe he'll be bigger in the actual story, I just would prefer something cooler as the bad guy, or at least give him and the protectors proper names.
  4. It's been a while since I've been here so, hello again to those of you who remember me. So, I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty off put by the price tags on the Toa. $15 didn't seem that bad, it's basically only an extra $2 from say the later sets, but $20 for a Toa? You've gotta be kidding me! Then I actually got some of the new Toa, and wow, I'd say $20 is pretty fair to ask for a near titan size Toa. I love these new sets. So far I have Tahu, Lewa, Pohatu, and the protector of Fire. The new forms are just enough of a throwback to 2001 while still keeping the more intricate designs we started seeing later on. I never touched Hero Factory, so a lot of these designs are pretty new to me, but it feels like the classic Bionicle. Especially putting them together, was a blast from the past and a totally new experience. I love the snap on armor, it feels so satisfying to put on. I might even go as far as to say I like the 2015 versions better than some of the G1 incarnations. (I'm looking at you Mistika and Phantoka, not bad sets but I have a hard time looking at Tahu Mistika and saying "that's Tahu") And hey, they brought back the gears! That's awesome too. I'm glad they kept the tacked on weapons for the Protectors (yes, they actually work, but not as satisfying as the zamor launcher but they basically work they way the cordak blasters should have worked, the little studs are easy to lose, but on the bright side for a person like me who owns a lot of leogs, they're just as easy to replace) I don't see myself getting all the protectors though, they're neat but other than extra parts I don't know if I'll get all them. I have a few very minor nitpicks with the new toys but I'm willing to look past them because I'm just so happy Bionicle is back and it's just as good as I remember it. Well done, Lego.
  5. Every place seems to have the Protectors. Lord of Skull Spiders is probably the most common of the larger sets which I can understand because, meh he's just simply not as cool as the Toa. It kind of varies from place to place, I went to 4 different places on new year's eve, (I had already got Tahu at that point) at one Target they had Kopaka and Tahu as well as all the Protectors, I went to a different Target which was completely sold out, Toys r Us only had the protectors and one Tahu I believe. Then the Super Target had basically all of them except Gali and Onua. I managed to get The protector of fire, Lewa and Pohatu that day. So far I have four of the new sets. I'll probably eventually get the Lord of Skull Spiders but I may or may not get all the protectors. At the very least, I'm getting all six of the Toa. Happy hunting everyone!
  6. As much as I love Fall Out Boy, I'm going to have to say no right there. Leave that to the AMVs on Youtube. I remember the Barraki theme was probably the only really good contemporary sounding song they got for the commercials that actually fit the tone. (although I did like Move Along quite a bit) Speaking of the Bionicle 2003 game, I wonder if we'll see some video games based of Bionicle again.
  7. That always is a pain. I remember having to wait until around after the Mask of Light came out before the Rakshi were available in my area. After a while I would just rely on buying the new sets on the Lego online shop.
  8. Just let them drink their Haterade and live in their magical world where everything sucks. But seriously, I can see why certain people aren't terribly pleased with the new sets. The first Bionicle had a pretty serious vibe to it and even in the Mata-Nui days you could see that in the figures. It looked like they lived in a semi-realistic world (at least as realistic as you can get from Bionicle) and the toys all looked totally unlike anything we'd seen before with Lego. The new gen is much more bright and colorful and vibrant, certainly more cartoony. Sure there's going to be some serious stuff and whatnot, but the designs themselves are more akin to something from a cartoon. I can see why they did this though. I remember being a kid and feeling a little intimidated when Bionicle first came out, it was so different from what Lego had done and what we were used to seeing. The Toa all looked so alien and almost angry I wasn't sure what to make of it, were they good guys, were they bad guys, what exactly were they? Robots? Something else? People in robot suits? I just remember thinking it was a bit too serious at first which put me off for the first year of Bionicle. Then in 2002 when I turned 8, my friend got me Onua for my birthday. I was still confused by it, but it was a gift from a friend so I figured I'd keep it and build it, and it was pretty neat. After that I was instantly hooked. I think the new designs are meant to be more accessible to a younger audience. Don't get me wrong, I totally dig this new style they're going for but even from the animations and character descriptions you can see it's got a very lighthearted tone. Which there is nothing wrong with that, plenty of kid's shows start off like that. I know Avatar The Last Airbender had a very lighthearted feel to it early on but it got pretty serious later on and became one of the best shows Nick ever did. I'm hoping Lego goes that way for the new gen of Bionicle, I doubt it would happen but I think it'd be pretty neat if they got Greg back to work on the storyline of the series. But I think the majority of the hate seems to be coming from the more "kid-friendly" style it's taken on here. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out, but I'm willing to keep an open mind. I don't mind the more over the top direction it's in as long as the toys and the story is done well.
  9. I'd pay good money to see a Bionicle themed ice show, that sounds hilarious but awesome at the same time. For some reason this topic made me think of Crash Nebula on Ice.
  10. I always said Bionicles. I know it sounds stupid, but the term Bionicle is hardly even cannon (they only say it in the films as far as I remember) so it doesn't really bug me.
  11. I imagine they'll see it in a similar light to how we did back then. I feel like there's a more cartoony feel to the new era of Bionicle, which I don't mind at all, I actually really like it. (I thought G1 got a little too serious later on down the road) I feel like the more over-the-top style will help get the younger crowd into it.
  12. I've always been a big fan of the Makuta species. Since they're shape-shifters, they could basically take on any form at all. If they do it right, I wouldn't mind seeing some more creative and unique villain designs like the Barraki. But no more spiders please, we've had enough of those already.
  13. "On the next episode of Hoarders..."
  14. I decided to check my local Toys R us, and oddly enough the only one there was Tahu, which happened to be one of the ones I was looking for. I'm really digging the new designs. It feels much brighter and more colorful than the sets from later on (2008 and on) which I really like. I also appreciate the use of gold which makes the golden mask less jarring. Overall, I really gotta say they did a really good job on the new sets, they're just really well put together. I love how they brought the gears back and it's sort of a return to the more tribal feel from the classic 2001 Bionicle.
  15. 20 dollars seems a bit much to ask for a Toa. Times really have changed. Price aside, Kopaka looks neat and I'm glad to see they're bringing him and the 6 classic Toa updated while still remaining recognizable unlike the ones from 2008. (Not that the Phantoka or Mistika were bad, it's just I had to really convince myself that that was Tahu or Lewa.)
  16. I'd like to see more female characters to be honest, and I'd like to seem them not be stereotypical kind gentle water-type characters. Let's see some variety. And yes, keeping characters dead and not bringing them back would be nice, it adds so much more integrity to the story.
  17. So I guess you just love his figures right? They just love Tahu for his body XD Well hey, he's pretty hot after all.
  18. Wow, it's been a long time since I've been here. I just saw the new Toa designs and had a nostalgia attack so I thought I'd check up on BZP. It's good to see after all these years this place is still running.
  19. I love Tahu, but yeah, I'd hate to actually have to hang out with him, I can't stand the bossy alpha male types.
  20. Oh geez, I just got hit with a huge wave of nostalgia after seeing the new ones, I really want to get Tahu. I'll probably get Lewa too just cuz he was my favorite after Tahu.
  21. Congrats to you! I assure you, Xenoblade Chronicles is a fantastic game best thing on the Wii if you ask me.
  22. Awesome Avatar FMA FTW

  23. Eh? Well, it was just a joke. I hope you don't take this the wrong way either, but some people just can't take a joke, and everything has to be serious all the time.

  24. I totally agree Fire Emblem rocks! It's a shame it doesn't get the attention it deserves.
