  1. Finally got my hands on Skull Warrior, pretty awesome. I'm not a big fan of the feet, I mean they look cool but from a practical standpoint they don't do a very good job keeping it balanced. Besides that great set, I like this wave even if it's not quite as amazing as the winter wave, but it's pretty hard to top that, updating the classic Toa after years without Bionicle. I think the first year is going pretty well, I was extrememly enthusiastic about this wave, but I've really warmed up to them. Also the CCBS hatred is getting old at this point. Even G1 Bionicle consisted heavily of regular technic parts in it's early years, the Rahi were basically technic builds with masks. (they were still amazing but heavily technic) People are forgetting that Bionicle borrowed a lot from throwbots and other technic lines before it. I don't see a problem with CCBS, sure it's a little more cartoony with printed pieces and whatnot (which really doesn't bother me at all), but the sets are sturdy, fun to build and give us an vastly improved gear function and all the articulation of the Inika.
  2. Panic at the Disco- Pretty Odd Say what you will about Panic at the Disco being an emo-pop band, but Pretty Odd is a fantastic album. Still their best work yet.
  3. In theaters: Ant Man (Very pleasant suprise to be honest, I thought I'd be sick of these superhero movies by now, but Marvel really proved me wrong, I went in expecting a dumb heist movie, and that's what I got, but it was a lot more fun than I expected) On DVD: Rewatching The Grand Budapest Hotel last night, god do I love that movie.
  4. For some reason this reminds me of the film "The Life Aquatic".
  5. I'm gonna say Umbra. Just a really bizarre set and it felt pretty unintentional.
  6. To be fair, G1 had themed villains, they were just more subtle about it or the themes were less generic or the theme was more story related than set related. The Piraka were outcasts, war criminals, the Barraki were all sea creatures (more apparent in the set versions) the Makuta in '08 were bats and insects. Maybe something along the lines of that, just something that would allow for variety in the sets, (I think this wave did well on the variety, but skeletons are a bit of a throw away imo)
  7. I remember reading about that, it blew my mind that they pretty much had the robot idea from the beginning. For me I would say the Red Star was pretty interesting.
  8. August is a weird time to release the sets if you ask me. I feel like June/July works better since it's a halfway point between waves giving us more time to get all the new sets before the next wave starts. August is also the time I go back to school so I'd rather have had them bring out the new sets in the middle of summer. That being said I'm not sure if I'm going to get all the summer sets, I'm getting skull warrior and skull grinder for sure and I'll probably get skull basher but I'm not sure about scorpio and slicer.
  9. I could probably nail it down to five in no particular order: (Not counting vehicles, because if I did it would be mostly that) 1: Makuta 2: Keetongu 3: Axonn 4: Nocturn 5: Maxilos
  10. Some of them were less theories and just weird assumptions I made before actually following the story. I pretty much just associated Mata Nui with being the cloest thing there was to a god in Bionicle and he created the universe. I thought that the Toa were robots, then I thought they were people in robotic suits like Iron Man or something like that. I also thought Matoro was going to go bad during 2007 and the final battle for that year would be between Jaller and Matoro. I thought that the Toa were just grown up versions of the Matoran.
  11. I made Kopaka's spear a bit longer and gave Tahu's gearbox more friction.
  12. I guess if you're a fan then it's pretty cool to see a show you like turned to Lego form. I personally can't stand the show but that's just me.
  13. I think the Toa Nuva transformation is the most iconic of g1.
  14. For me my favorite year was 2007 story and set wise, lease favorite was without a doubt 2005. I think it's unfair to say 2010 because it ended really early on that year.
  15. It kinda drove me crazy that the Lewa level was completely gone in the actual game, also the music in that ad was amazing. For me it's a toss up between that one because of the music and the Mahri one because it was just so cool. I personally felt like G1 peaked in 2007.
  16. To be totally honest, compared to some of the other stuff Lego's been doing lately, Bionicle G2 is pretty fairly priced.
  17. I feel like the new Toa are kind of a stylistic fusion of the Toa Mata and Nuva. The Toa Nuva were a big deal when they first came out because they basically introduced armor as a common theme in Bionicle outside titans like the Exo-Toa. The Toa Mata basically had no armor at all, so even though the Toa Nuva were basically the original rehash they felt really new and exciting because they all had fancy armor. I feel like the Toa Masters are the most heavily armored Toa we've seen yet, so I have no idea how exactly they could upgrade them. I have confidence in Lego that they'll give us something cool. I'm hoping to see some more silver stuff like in G1, I always thought silver was a much cooler color than gold especially since Bionicle gold is closer to bronze really.
  18. I honestly thought Knight's Kingdom was pretty cool as a kid, until I recently rebuilt one of the figures. While the limbs from Knights and Galidor seem to have less of a tendency to get loose, my god trying to pose one of those toys is a nightmare. They should have stuck with the ball and socket system.
  19. Galidor was pretty silly. It kinda perplexed me though because it felt so far from what I loved about Lego. It was basically Lego trying to reach out to kids who didn't like building stuff. I never really got into it, I remember getting one of the toys for a birthday present or something and I messed around with it, I thought some of the other sets looked interesting, but I never got around to buying them because as a kid, I had to ask my mom or dad to take me shopping for toys and it was harder to come buy money as a kid so I ususally tried to get all the new Bionicle sets before dabbling in other kinds of toys. I never really found Galidor in stores and even then as a kid I felt like I'd be better off just saving up for when the next Bionicle wave came out.
  20. Yeah, the Constraction sets are kinda weird. Dark Vader is alright since he looks to robotic anyways but CCBS doesn't seem to lend itself well to realistic humanoid characters. Something about semi-realistic faces with that Lego texture seems off. Kinda reminds me of Galador.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the story for G2 get as fleshed out as G1's backstory... (Even to this day I'm still learning crazy new stuff just from reading around on BS01, like just the other day I finally looked up the Red Star and it frickin' blew my mind) Perhaps that will come in time, but I think we'll have to wait and see. Part of the fun of G1 was the mystery.
  22. I'm pretty sure BZP had no age requirement because they wanted to keep it family friendly discussion where anyone could join in as long as they could read and write.
  23. Proper titans and mounts/vehicles would be very nice.
