  1.

I hope that Aragonite display came with a dark room and UV light to see it flouresce. Flourescent minerals are just SO COOL.

Unfortunately, it fluoresced not because of the UV light, but because of some Cambridge Orcs nearby.....

Fun fact: in many locales around the city there is a swear jar so that if anyone names the other place, they have to put in one quid.

  2. I'll admit that, in previous years, it was a combination of being terrified of Staff/older members and social anxiety/introvertedness that led me to gravitate towards the younger members, while I let chances to interact and be better friends with some of the older members pass by.

I am glad, though, that it feels that (at least for me), the previous BrickFair saw me break out of my shell a bit more and I think this year was also good in that regard. I'm kinda sad that I haven't been able to be better friends (and a better person) with y'all in the older group, but I'm kinda also glad that it's this version of me that's integrating into the group rather than me from five years ago :P

Anywho, Pat, you and all the other BZPers are, like, tubular. Seriously, though, y'all are awesome people (hence why I was kinda terrified in years past :P ) and I hope that in BrickFairs to come (as well as interactions online) I can put myself out there more to get to know all of you better :)

  3. To confirm, I've been going to Brickfair as a registrant since 2010. (I went as a member of the public in 2009.) However, it was not until 2012 that I ever mustered up the courage to speak to any BZP members, or anyone for that matter. I can still remember the words I spoke on that fateful day:

"Hey, are you guys going to the luncheon?"

Everyone gave affirmative responses, but I think it was bfahome saying "Of course." that stood out to me the most. As soon as I heard that, I knew I was part of a community that I wouldn't be leaving any time soon. On that day I truly had my interest in BZPower, Bionicle, and LEGO in general renewed. I'll never forget what one little conversation with people who were practically strangers did for me.

And then we incessantly rubbed your beard and had you chug icing.

    Just as Mata Nui intended.

(just kidding; you know we heart you, val)
