  1. In all honesty, I was hoping the boards would still be down so I didn't have to do this today, just have a little reprieve, OH WELL. Anyway, that was all pretty random. Much like this! Mylo Xyloto Mylo Xyloto has 3115 posts (5 Star Rating, 9125 Profile Views) and joined BZPower 11-July 09. He is currently most active in General Discussion. Like all sensible people do. He last visited on the 29th of April 2012, and his birthday is the 22nd of August 1994. Insert some Coldplay lyric or George Castanza line here. Here's a meek banner. 3. Dude you have the best taste in vintage BZP comics you have no idea.
  4. Seriously, did every band from the 60s-80s have to make a cover of the Batman theme or something? Was it a codified law or was it just some weird music-comic convention? Will you stay tuned to find out? WHOP

    The Wall

The reverse has happened to me. I used to love this album intensely, and it helped get me through a lot of things as well, but I really played it too much and now I really don't enjoy it, particularly because it reminds me of a dark period mentally in my past that I've mostly moved away from. It's also way too erratic, which made sense at the time but now feels a bit stupid, particularly as I've started to really appreciate consistency with music albums in general. I still like the songs, even some of the ones from Sides 2 & 3 that I didn't use to like, and I still adore the concept and subject matters, but I just cannot enjoy it as much as I used to as a whole, it's become tainted on a personal level. I guess that's not really relevant but anyway. It was never my favourite Pink Floyd album, though. I still think Dark Side is the best album on a production and music level, but the one I enjoy the most is Animals, with Meddle up there as well.

    Dawn Service

ANZAC Day, went to the dawn service for the first time. Lovely service. Thoughts go out to all Australian and New Zealand soldiers, past and present, those who suffered and died for our way of life today. Lest we forget.
  7. Enjoyed listening to all of these, including the ones not mentioned in the list. A real talent for composition, some really nice themes. Lonely Curiosity reminded me of something, but I don't know. Anyway, I like this sorta minimalist piano composing (which reminds me I really need to research some Philip Glass and such), though not that minimalist in this case. Very emotive pieces, I like these a lot.The piano sound was great (this was all VST, wasn't it? if it was live piano, I'm even more impressed). On the other hand, though, I felt that the orchestral tracks (excluding Peaceful Jungle) didn't seem to have enough weight, like wasn't a really full sound, something missing that I can't quite place. I don't mean added instruments btw. Doesn't take away from the great composing though. I need to keep an eye on your compositions, I feel. I like these a lot.

    Lego Pricing

Still doesn't explain Canada. I don't know where to look for Mexican prices, but it would hardly surprise me if they too had to pay more comparatively.
  9. Well, on second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

    Lego Pricing

Haha, maybe. Yet probably not, since the US probably has the biggest consumer base, wouldn't be a wise idea to irritate that section of the market, I guess. Hmm, Canada's always had a similar dollar to ours, still do I think. Hey, yeah, Canada's pretty bad as well, yeah. $229.99CAD. That's particularly messed up since it's the same continent. Is there some sort of border costs to consider as well? Probably, but still, not sure that much. Anyway, it's ridiculous. Oh gosh I just looked at New Zealand's, our neighbour, there's is $359.99NZD ($294.61USD)!!! That's...wow. EDIT: As I continue to look, the problem is everywhere, even in Denmark. This is outrageous.

    Lego Pricing

So, I'm interested in getting that R2-D2 model, because, you know, it's awesome. But LEGO has got some serious problems with pricing these days. Well, it always has, but current economic conditions have exacerbated it, I feel. Currently, our dollar is more valuable than the US dollar, and has been for well over a year (close to two?). This is after a long history of being less valuable, because obvious the US used to be going quite well. That meant that LEGO sets always seemed more expensive, and technically on a level playing field they still probably were. So, you would imagine that the price for things would go down a bit for us, right, make things more level. I mean, I guess there's problems with we don't have LEGO factories here and shipping, I guess that might factor it in. But, with every Aussie dollar currently equating to around $1.04USD, can LEGO really justify this R2-D2's price of $249.99AUD compared to $179.99USD? For context, that $249.99AUD equals $259.46USD. And this is still excluding S@H's shipping costs (another $40-45AUD). I'm just not sure it's that justified. On a different, Homestuck note, should interest you to know that in a Livestream about a month or so ago, Michael Guy Bowman revealed he used to like BIONICLE, as did Mark 'Shadolith' Nabors (the guy who did March of the Batterwitch).
  12. Oh great, so arachnidsGrip's and adiosToreador have become important again. Bleh. Smitty Smitty has 1336 posts (3 Star Rating, 244 Profile Views) and joined BZPower 14-April 03. 13. Been a while since I first saw The Great Dictator, but my it's a great film. That speech truly is one of the better ones. Lovely film, Chaplin is amazing. Watching the mash up now. It's not bad. Uses 'Time'. Could be turned down a bit though. Kinda drowns him out a bit. But that's the thing, I just compared it to the original, which of course has no music. And it (the original) is WAY more powerful. Music is wonderful, but it can be distracting, especially when your attention should be paid to something that is so important. Chaplin's words ring out loud and true, and it gets you, and you really wish that the world was as he describes it. And you just focus all your attention on him and what he says, nothing else matters at that point. This is interesting because his whole career up till that point is based on physical movement/humour and music, and this, probably my favourite moment of his by far, removes both of these. It's really powerful, a real eye-opener because it strays away from the usual Chaplin formula, and that makes all the more incredible. I've seen other mashups and what not, but nothing is as good as the raw original. Also it's even better when you know the context. People should watch that film, it's great. Also hilarious. Not sure where this spiel on Chaplin came from, oh well.
  14. Checks entry, hoping for images of recently acquired instruments or Broadway tickets/DVDs/etc. Disappointment ensued. [/notatalltrue][/dumb]
  15. Ah that forest, adorable. Oh the trials of being in the right country, wrong state. Anyway, this sounds cool, keenly look out for what other events will be a part of this, and hopefully some of them will come to the island state.

    Bleh

    1) Sick as a sick person, which is particularly bad because I've got work to do this week and I don't have the energy to do it. Lame. 2) Apparently I won a contest on BZP? OK, that's pretty sweet. And hilarious. 3) Oh cod, canon.
  17. So checked these out at last. Well, some. I got kind of bored of the concept pretty quickly, some funny ones, but it's just too short. Some funny actors and writing though.
  18. I always had it in my mind that the antennae curved forwards as well, maybe it was because of the images I saw for BIONICLE Heroes, I dunno. Admittedly from the front it gives the illusion that prongs do indeed go forward, which is interesting.I also feel that while it looks more like a conventional mask as we know it in the real world, more flat and just covering the front part of the head, unlike a helmet or such, I feel that it just doesn't wrap around the head as well as it could, as it does more in the BIONICLE style. Maybe just the top extends backwards more (antennae alone might do it), or the sides extending along the sides of the head a bit. Because even the flattest of masks from the early years, for instance Pakari, Mahiki and Ruru, for example, all have at least some part that significantly adds depth to the mask, the 'ears' for the first two and the forehead for the latter. This becomes more of a problem when the mask is put on a Metru head, which is a more elongated head (particularly if it used the long eye pieces).Anyway, all that said and done, I really like how this turned out! I've always liked the idea of shapeways, it's a pretty amazing site and business. And you've used it tremendously well, the look of it is still very faithful to how the VNOLG Ignika should look, and the detail is really well done. I particularly like the 'hexagon' on the forehead that protrudes forward, that's a nice touch. Looks really good front on, as we are more accustomed to see. Paint job really good too, surprised how similar the colour is to the old Gold, very nice. Yeah, you've done a tremendous job, I always respect good 3D work, and to make a real life mask that fits the + rod mold is great. My complaints are merely my view of how I believe the aesthetics should work, the actual execution of this is wonderful. Kudos for a great job with Blender!
  19. So that was time consuming, but a lot of fun. Most of the time I spent wasting near the end trying to get two lights to go into the hole where the house was, but it turns out you weren't meant to? So I gave up and just did the skull thing already. Oh, people who haven't read PS, you're doing yourself a huge injustice.Anyway, so my favourite characters essentially are extinct in this session (Consorts, all of them). Depressed. Also Jake is in big doodoo. I like LoCaH very much. Thanks Hussie for the teases for the others. Oh and yay, finally an in-comic confirmation that Iguanas are the other consorts, yes.
  20. Look at what you people make me do.
  21. Don't know how I feel about this Friday 13th so far. Also everything in that last entry from two days ago is ridiculous. Oh well.
