  1. After my last post, I decided to challenge myself a little bit more. Here are some of my latest pictures. Note that they have had some minor adjustments. Check out my latest 2006 Scenery Images here: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/25173-2006-scenery-images-2/ Dalu, Kazi and Piruk struggle to make their way across the large cliff overlooking Voya Nui Bay. Piruk looks for a way up the cliff but comes across the ruthless Avak. Piruk enjoying some time alone, looking out across the desolate sea. Toa Matoro battles Vezok on the harsh coast of Voya Nui.
  2. This is the second part of my 2006 Scenery Images series. I was inspired by the supporting comments from my last post to make the 2006 Scenery Images a Series. He are some more pictures. Enjoy! Balta watches from a high cliff in the Green Belt. Velika and Garan discuss their next move against the Piraka. Vezok rests on a small ledge overlooking a stormy Voya Nui Bay. Reidak emerges from a small pond after a devastating battle with the Toa Inika. The Kardas Dragon has escaped the Volcano and begun it's journey.
  3. hi I have a few spare misfit bionicle in my collection to trade I live in the uk and might ship elsewhere. 4. in the improvment that ccbs has had in the time it has had, what characters would be great to see using this system? personally i would love to see Ultron, Spawn, Predator, WarMachine, Cyborg (DC) Deathstroke and Sauron and some monsters like werewolves and vampires but very mature. Though honestly i would just love to see more mature sets using ccbs, i am 23 and love the design ccbs is going with since bionicle g2 and starwars characters. but what ideas do you have? p.s i know mature sets arnt coming any time soon
  5. It has been a very long time since my last post. I took a long break from bionicle but I watched the Piraka Animations and I'm back into it. So I took a few pictures. Toa Nuparu visiting an isolated lake in Voya Nui. Toa Nuparu flying above the Desert of Sorrows. Reidak the beastly Piraka in pursuit of Dalu.
  6. I originally wanted to draw Hahli and Macku together in order to contrast how different they are, but I ran out of space with what I wanted to do. (Maybe in a different piece later on ) Anywho, I wanted to experiment by drawing Hahli in a more dynamic pose instead of just standing there with her Kohlii stick. I've mostly just drawn figure profiles from this point, and I knew I wouldn't be able to branch out artistically unless I tried to do something new and different (which was kind of intimidating at first). But now that I've started to get a feel for it, I'm very excited to be showing more character and personality through body language. And for Hahli, I wanted to show that she is very sporty and athletic, but also still very pretty and fashionable without being dainty. She has an aggressive and competitive streak for sure, but it usually only shows itself in the arena.
  7. So I've got myself a high resolution 3D printer, namely a Form2, and I'm looking into trying to 3D print some Bionicle parts for the fun of it. I've gotten the LDraw parts library, which to my knowledge, has most of the parts I'd be interested in using for this experiment. The only problem is that the parts are in a .pov format, which is incompatible with PreForm (Form Labs' proprietary slicing program for their printers). I've gone looking all over the place trying to find any conversion applications or anything that can convert a .pov into an .stl or .obj format, but alas, nothing has turned up. I know this is a little bizarre, which is why I put it in "Off Topic". If anybody here knows about this kind of file conversion, please let me know, and drop some links if you could. Thanks, everybody. Cheers, Muircat
  8. Hi, guys. Today is the day when Bionicle G2 ended last year. The date for that is July 29, 2016. In that day, Lego announced that G2 ends in 2016, at the same time the final two episodes of a TV show, Bionicle: The Journey to One, aired. These two episodes were about the Toa Uniters and Ekimu fighting against Umarak the Destroyer and his new minions called the Elemental Beasts. Then, the Toa fought against Makuta for two minutes at the very end to end G2's story. It's rushed. Bionicle G2 lasted for two years from 2015 to 2016 instead of continuing in at least 2017. Lego had a planned third year, which is 2017, so it never happened due to the cancellation. Lego hadn't told us why they made a business decision to cancel G2. We always make a lot of guesses, and I think that Lego was having trouble with priorities with other themes, like Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Mixels, DC Comics, Marvel, Lego Dimensions, and Star Wars, which would explain how G2 wasn't doing as well as G1. (Plus, I kind of blame Nexo Knights for G2's cancellation). Aw, man. It's like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series in 2012-2014 all over again (See the comparisons between the two franchises: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/23229-bionicle-g2-and-the-amazing-spider-man-movies-are-alike/ ). Anyway, Bionicle G2 was the latest constraction theme with an original story by Lego. Now, this year, without that kind of theme, constraction is doing poorly because there is no constraction theme with an original story by Lego this year. It's just at least eight Star Wars constraction sets. (Here's the link about it: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/24467-the-dark-agegreat-depression-of-constraction/ ). To be honest, buying sets from a constraction theme with an original Lego by Lego is the only hobby that I have other than Lego Dimensions (It's not doing well nowadays and people say that it's going to be cancelled this this as a theory). Without the constraction theme or Lego Dimensions, I have no other Lego sets to want to buy. Bionicle G2 was the only thing to keep my constraction-based-hobby alive, since it got cancelled, that hobby of mine is gone. Also anyway, well, we could hope that Bionicle could come back again somehow. We may get G3, and hopefully, it would be very great like Spider-Man: Homecoming this year, much better than G2, and like G1 or better. Also hopefully, that would bring the golden age of constraction again. We all miss Bionicle again. (crying in tears of sadness) Anyway, how's things since that day? For me, I'm still depressed and feel like that I sort of don't having a purpose in buying Lego sets without Bionicle G2 or a constraction theme with an original story by Lego other than Lego Dimensions.
  9. Hi, guys! Did you know that in July 2001 that Bionicle was first launched (in the US)? Well, today is July 1st, so this month is Bionicle's 16th anniversary! Man, it's a teenager! I know that people usually don't celebrate numbers with ones digits being not 5's or 0's, but since I noticed some things, Sonic the Hedgehog's 26th anniversary was celebrated by many people this year, we could do that for Bionicle's 16th anniversary this year. Let's talk about its life. When Lego was having a problem that could lead to bankruptcy, it needed a Lego theme with an original story, so it created the theme that we know and love, Bionicle (Well, before Bionicle, the first two constraction themes, Slizers/Throwbots and RoboRiders in 1999-2000, were Lego's attempts, but failed, sadly). It came from another theme called Technic, as it is a subtheme of Technic, like Slizers/Throwbots and Roboriders, shares some same pieces as the themes, but with new ones, like torsos, limbs, weapons, heads, eye-brain things, and masks. The Bionicle sets also include play functions and gear systems. Bionicle saved Lego from bankruptcy, and was launched in 2001. Throughout the toy line's first run, there is the G1 story, which is extremely long, and is about bio-mechanical heroes fighting against forces of evil and going in quests to find magical things, protect and save people, and restore a destroyed planet. The toy line went like this: 2001 - The Toa Mata come to the island of Mata Nui to save it and its people from a villain called the Makuta and his minions, the Infected Rahi, which are animals being possessed by Makuta's Infected Masks. Makuta also put the Great Spirit Mata Nui, who people worship, to endless sleep. In order to fight Makuta and the Rahi, they have to collect Kanohi Masks, which are scattered on the island first, so they can have the power to defeat the evil forces. The storyline line ended with the Toa Mata defeating Makuta. 2002 - The Toa Mata fight a new threat that Makuta awakened, which are chicken-like destroyers called the Bohrok. The Bohrok also started a war against the Toa and the island's people. In order to defeat the Bohrok, the Toa have to collect the Bohrok's brains called the Krana first. The storyline ended when the Toa defeated the Bohrok's queens called the Bahrag by using their elemental powers to imprison them, ending the war. They later became the Toa Nuva, which are more powerful versions of themselves. Early 2003 - New mutated types of Bohrok, called the Bohrok-Kal, steal the Toa Nuva's Nuva Symbols, which are magical objects that are sources of their elemental powers. The Toa go to defeat the Bohrok-Kal and get their Symbols back. The storyline ended when the Toa defeated the Bohrok-Kal by overloading their powers, and the Toa got their Symbols and powers back. Late 2003 - Two Matoran, Jaller and Takua, found a new Kanohi Mask called the Mask of Light. It is said that the Mask will show a Matoran that found it, called the Herald, to the Toa of Light, who could defeat Makuta, and the Matoran duo go on a journey to find this new Toa. Makuta became aware of this, so he unleashed new enemies called the Rahkshi, which are also called "the sons of Makuta", piloted by slug-like creatures called the Kraata, and have powers that go against the island's people's important principles, to hunt down and kill the Herald and get the Mask. The Toa go to stop the Rahkshi to protect the Herald. The storyline ended when the duo arrived on a spot in the island, called Kini-Nui, Takua reveals to be the Herald and wears the Mask, which turns him into the Toa of Light called Takanuva. He then goes to fight against the Makuta. After defeating him, Takanuva combined with him to become Takutanuva and opened a gate to another island called Metru Nui, so the island of Mata Nui's people can go there. 2004 - A prequel where the island of Mata Nui's elders, the Turaga, tell the people a story about themselves as a team of Toa called the Toa Metru long ago. They were the protectors of Metru Nui, as they fought against Makuta, who had been impersonating the island's ruler named Turage Dume, and his minions, which are a giant evil plant monster called the Morbuzakh, the Vahki, and the Dark Hunters, Nidhiki and Krekka. Along the way, the Toa went on a quest to find the Great Disks. After that, the leader of this Toa team, Vakama, combined them to make the Disk of Time, and then turned it into a powerful new mask called the Mask of Time, which was what Makuta wanted to get. The storyline ended when he put the Great Spirit Mata Nui to sleep, causing a disaster called the Great Catalysm. Vakama stopped Makuta from getting the Mask. The Toa Metru later defeated Makuta by using their powers to imprison him, like the Toa Mata did in the 2002 storyline. The Toa Metru placed Metru Nui's people, the Matoran and who were put into sleep by Makuta, on the island of Mata Nui by sacrificing their Toa power to do awaken them. This resulted in turning them into the Turaga before everyone started a new life in Mata Nui. This happened long before the 2001 storyline happened. 2005 - Takes place between the 2004 and 2001 storylines and is still a prequel, Metru Nui's people, the Matoran, were captured by giant evil spiders called the Visorak, which are led by two villains, Sidorak and Roodaka. When the Toa Metru went to save the Matoran. The bad guys also mutated them into monstrous-looking and animal-based creatures called the Toa Hordika. A group of little mutated creatures called the Rahaga, who were once the Toa Hagah, who were also mutated by Roodaka, told the Toa that they have to a good-hearted Rahi named Keetongu, who can cure and help them fight the bad guys. Unfornately, the leader of the Toa Hagah, Vakama, was convinced by Roodaka to help the villains destroy the Toa Hordika. The storyline ended when Keetongu killed Sidorak, the Toa Hordika defeated the Visorak, Vakama came back to his senses, and Roodaka made all of the Toa Hordika use their elemental powers to free Makuta for his prison. That was a sad time over there. Keetongu then cured the Toa Hordika back into the Toa Metru. The Toa rescued the Matoran. Later, Vakama and Makuta made a temporary alliance to prevent Dark Hunters, including their leader called the Shadowed One and Voporak, from getting the Mask of Time. Vakama and Makuta won the fight against them, and Vakama kept the Mask before returning to the Toa Metru. 2006 - Back to the present. The Great Spirit Mata Nui is dying because of his eternal sleep, so the Toa Nuva go to the island of Voya Nui to a powerful new Kanohi Mask called the Mask of Life, which can save Mata Nui's life and people. However, a group of new villains, called the Piraka, enslaved the island's people by using Makuta's corrupting essence called Antidermis control their minds, are mean and monstrous gangsters, and go to find the Mask to get it for themselves, defeated the Toa. Six Matoran, who allied with the Toa Nuva, turned into a new team of Toa called the Toa Inika, whose elemental powers are mixed with lightning. The Toa Inika free the people and fight against the Piraka. The storyline ended when the Toa Inika fight against the Piraka's former member, Vezon, and his giant pet spider called Fenrakk, and Vezon has the Mask. The Mask also turned Fenrakk into a powerful dragon called the Kardas Dragon. The Toa manage to defeat Vezon and his pet and one of the Toa Inika, Matoro, got the Mask because he is destined to be its bearer, but the Mask magically went to the sea around the island. The Toa Nuva return. The Toa Inika go to find the Mask underwater while the Toa Nuva go to re-awaken Mata Nui. 2007 - The Mask of Life ends up underwater below Voya Nui, and it falls on the ground next to an underwater city called Mahri Nui, where Matoran live there. One of them named Dekar finds the mask, but he sees it as too dangerous, so he wants to destroy it. However, evil mutated warlords called the Barraki, who are based on sea creatures and command armies of them, want to get and use the mask to turn themselves back to their pre-mutated normal selves, so they can get revenge on Mata Nui. Meanwhile, while the Toa Inika are looking for the mask underwater, the mask transformed them into water-breathing Toa with normal powers called the Toa Mahri. Plus, the mask turned Dekar into a jailer named Hydraxon, who was dead long ago and now plans to destroy it. Makuta also goes underwater and possessed a Maxilos robot, so he can go and tell Matoro how to use the Mask to save Mata Nui's life. After the Toa saved the mask from the Barraki and Hydraxon, Matoro tells the Toa what Makuta told him, which is to destroy the Cord, which connects the top of Mahri Nui to Voya Nui in order to put Voya Nui back to where it originally belonged. After they destroyed the cord and then while Voya Nui was heading back to where it belonged, they discover that Mata Nui is dead. Matoro, however, doesn't give up hope, so he goes to revive Mata Nui. The other Toa Mahri fight the Barraki to buy him time. The storyline ended when Matoro used the power of the Mask to bring his Toa Team back to Metru Nui and make them breathe air again to save their lives. He then sacrificed his life to use the mask's power to bring Mata Nui back to life. When the Toa Mahri and the people of Metru Nui became aware of Matoro's fate, they mourn for his death. How very sad. 2008 - After Toa Nuva met and were given the Adaptive Armor by a guy named Artakha, Artakha brings the Toa Nuva to a place called Karda Nui, where they can re-awaken Mata Nui. They also find that the Matoran living in Karda Nui, called the Av-Matoran, are being invaded by Makuta's brotherhood called the Brotherhood of Makuta. Makuta's real name is revealed to be Teridax, with the word, "Makuta", as his title, so he is called "Makuta Teirdax". Plus, his brotherhood is formed by his whole species called the Makuta. There are eight Makuta attacking Karda Nui, and they are also turning Av-Matoran are a new type of Matoran called Shadow Matoran, which are evil like the Makuta, because they don't want the Av-Matoran to turn into Toa of Light. The Toa and Makuta split teams while they are fighting each other. The Mask of Life has a mind of its own, and when it was thinking about its previous bearers' heroism, it decides to create itself a Toa-like body called Toa Ignika to become a hero like them. It also helps the Toa Nuva fight the Makuta. Later, Takanuva goes to find the Toa Nuva and warn them about the Energy Storms, which can kill people in Karda Nui, appearing if they re-awaken Mata Nui. While he is helping the Toa fight the Makuta, he learns that he was one of the Av-Matoran. The Toa Nuva also learned that they have been in Karda Nui before, but forgotten about it when they got out from there before the 2001 storyline happened. After Taknuva cured the Shadow Matoran back to their normal selves and the Toa Nuva had Toa Ignika sacrifice its body to re-awaken Mata Nui the Toa Nuva and Takanuva use flying vehicles that they found from a building called the Codrex to get out of Karda Nui and escape the Energy Storms, which kill the Makuta in Karda Nui. Mata Nui is revealed to be a 40-million-foot-tall robot whose face was covered with the island of Mata Nui for a long time since the Great Cataclysm, but the island is destroyed and he is re-awakened, so he is now free from the island. the heroes went back home to Metru Nui and celebrate Mata Nui's re-awakening, Teridax reveals that he took over Mata Nui's body, put the Great Spirit's spirit in the Mask of Life, then sent the Mask to outer space, and everybody's home called the Matoran Universe, which are a bunch of lands, is inside Mata Nui's gigantic body. This allows Teridax to rule the Matoran Universe and torture the people under his new tyrannical reign. How horrible. 2009 - A loose continuation where it takes place in a planet called Bara Magna, where its surface is a desert and decaying wasteland. People in the planet are similar to the ones in Matoran Universe. They are split into tribes. Some of the people, called the Agori, have their warriors, the Glatorian, fight each other in gladiator arenas to get scarce amounts of resources on the planet. However, groups of evil people, the Skrall and the Bone Hunters, work together to have a war with good-hearted people and go to take over the world. Meanwhile, the Mask of Life shows up on the planet and then makes a body for the Great Spirit Mata Nui's spirit to use. He wants to find a way to get back of the planet and go back to the Matoran Universe, so he could get the Matoran Unvierse back from Teridax. The storyline ended when Mata Nui became aware of good-hearted people of Bara Magna suffering problems from the planet's bad guys, he has the good guys end their system of arena matches, and helps and unites them to defeat the bad guys and end the war with them. Mata Nui then discovered some things on the planet that relates to him and former body. Mata Nui continues his journey to get out of the Bara Magna. Early 2010 - When Mata Nui learned that Bara Magna was once an prosperous Earth-like planet called Spherus Magna, which was broken into three pieces, which are Bara Magna, Aqua Magna, which is Bara Magna's watery moon his former body was asleep, and Bota Magna, which is a moon with its surface being a jungle, during a war very long ago, the fact he is created by magical people called the Great Being's on the planet and why he is created, and how to restore the planet, Mata Nui goes to restore Spherus Magna. He puts his spirit into a gigantic robotic prototype of his former enormous robotic body to put the moons back to Bara Magna. However, Teridax, as he is possessing Mata Nui's original body, finds him and plans to take over the universe. He first asks Mata Nui if he would help Teridax take over the universe, but Mata Nui refuses, so the battle between them happens. Good and bad people from both the Matoran Universe and Bara Magna battle each other alongside Mata Nui and Makuta, too. When one of the Toa Nuva, Tahu, came out of the Matoran Universe, the Mask of Life devolved him back to his original Toa Mata self because he has to wear magical armor called the Golden Armor to help Mata Nui fight the fight. However, some of the bad guys from both worlds stole the pieces of the Armor, so Tahu, Takanuva, and a Glatorian named Gresh who is an ally of Mata Nui, go get the pieces back. During that, Teridax threatens to destroy Bara Magna with his gravity powers, but Mata Nui stops and made him bring the moons back to the planet. After they succeeded in doing so, Tahu wears the armor and uses its power to destroy all of the Rahkshi the Makuta sent on Bara Magna. This made Teridax upset, and while he is not aware of a piece of Aqua Magna coming near him, Mata Nui pushes Teridax to the fragment, so the fragment hit Mata Nui's original body's head, destroying Teridax, so Mata Nui wins. After the moons went back to the planet, Mata Nui uses the power of the Mask of Life and the remaining power of the prototype to finish restoring Spherus Magna. People from the Matoran Universe get out of there because Mata Nui's original body became inhabitable due to the destruction on the body's head and go to live in Spherus Magna with its own people. The prototype was destroyed because it used up all of its power, and Mata Nui retreats to the Mask of Life. He says that all journeys come to the end and then he sleeps in the Mask. Good people from both worlds decide to live in the planet together with peace and harmony. The toy line ran from 2001 to 2010 because it got cancelled by Lego in 2010 when Lego is having an economic problem in 2009. Poor Bionicle. After that, the Bionicle toy line was replaced by another theme called Hero Factory in 2010 to keep the constraction figure category alive. Along the way, the G1 storyline still continued as it has new stories, starting from the second half of 2010, and a writer named Greg Farshtey was writing them. These new stories are about the people in Spherus Magna fighting against new foes who threaten their peace. Some new characters are met along the way. However, sadly, the storyline stopped in the middle of 2011 with some cliffhangers. It had never continued since. Greg started to reveal a lot of unresolved things in the G1 story from 2012 to the beginning of this year in the Lego Messageboards on the Lego website, but he stopped as the Messangeboards got closed by Lego. In 2014, which was 4 and a half years after the end of the Bionicle toy line, it was announced in New York Comic Con that Bionicle comes back in the beginning of 2015, but as a reboot. It was a very great time for us Bionicle fans. In 2015, Bionicle replaced Hero Factory for some reason, and the new Bionicle story begins again as G2. In the reboot, it is about six bio-mechanical heroes called the Toa coming to the island of Okoto to fight the forces of evil, including the Skull Creatures and Umarak. They also have to find the magical and powerful masks called the Masks of Power, which are the Mask of Creation, Mask of Control, and Mask of Ultimate Power. Here are the new storylines in G2: 2015 - Long ago, two brothers, called the Mask Makers, Ekimu and Makuta, ruled the island of Okoto and made magical masks called the Masks of Power, which are made with one of six elements each, for the island's people. However, Makuta was jealous of Ekimu because Ekimu's masks are more praised than his, so he broken a sacred law, that is about not making a mask with two or more of the elements, by making a mask with all six elements called the Mask of Ultimate Power. When he put it on, the mask took over of him and was trying to destroy the island. Ekimu noticed this, so he went to stop it by knocking the mask off from Makuta's face. This caused a shockwave that ruined the island, put Ekimu to endless sleep, and scattered three powerful Mask of Power, the Mask of Control, which is Ekimu's mask, Mask of Control, which is Makuta's, and the Mask of Ultimate Power, over the island. However, Ekimu whispered a prophecy to the island's people's elders, called the Protectors, so they would use it to summon six heroes on Okoto because there will be evil attacking the island. Later on, in the present, Makuta turns evil and has the evil Skull Spiders and Skull Creatures attack the island. The Protecters summons the heroes, who are the Toa Mata, who newly called the Masters in G2 on Okoto. After the Toa arrived in the island, they start their journey to fight against evil by collecting the powerful Masks of Powers with elemental powers called Golden Masks of Power. The Protectors are guiding them to the Masks while they fight against the evil Skull Spiders along the way. After the Toa collected and wore the masks, they meet at the City of the Mask Makers, where they fight against the Lord of Skull Spiders and many other Skull Creatures while their new journey to find and re-awaken Ekimu in the city. After they found and re-awakened Ekimu, Ekimu reveals that the Skull Creatures' leader, the Skull Grinder, is planning to destroy the Mask of Creation and take over the world. The storyline ended when the Toa go to find and fight against Kulta to try to save the Mask from him while Ekimu defeats Kulta and saves and reclaims the Mask. Ekimu calls the Toa true heroes after that because of their heroic efforts. 2016 - The Toa got new armor, weapons, and masks, made by Ekimu, to become the Uniters. Ekimu sends the Toa on a new quest to find the Elemental Creatures and the Golden Masks of Unity, so they can Unite, or combine, with them and be able to find the Mask of Control, so Ekimu could destroy it. However, a new villain named Umarak the Hunter is sent by Makuta to hunt down the creatures and use them to find the mask, and Umarak has robotic bear-trap-like creatures called the Shadowed Traps to help him. After the Toa found the Creatures and the Golden Masks of Unity, they can Unite with and learn from the Creatures about the Mask of Control's location, which is a maze. The Toa and their Creatures then go to the maze, survive its traps, and found the Mask, but Umarak got the Mask and escaped with it from them. Makuta then wants the Hunter to become his new servant, but Umarak refuses and puts on the Mask, but Makuta uses the mask's power to turn the Hunter into his monstrous, Doomsday-from-Batman-v-Superman:-Dawn-of-Justice-from-2016-esque and Abomination-from-Marvel-esque servant called the Destroyer. Umarak turns some of his Shadow Traps into new monsters with elemental powers called the Elemental Beasts to attack the City. This is to keep the Toa and Ekimu distracted, so Umarak can find the pieces of the destroyed Mask of Ultimate Power. The Toa and Ekimu later learn about all of this, so they go after him. Umarak creates a mountain where he would do a ritual with the Mask of Ultimate Power to create a portal that can free Makuta from an alternate world called the Shadow Realm. Makuta's imprisonment in the Realm is caused by the Mask's destruction long ago when Ekimu knocked it from Makuta's face. The Toa are trying to stop Umarak, but failed as Umarak succeeds in opening the portal, but Makuta sacrifices his life to open the portal. How rude. However, the storyline ended when Makuta is coming from from the portal, the Toa learns that the prophecy ends with a part where they combine with their elemental powers to stop Makuta. The Toa and Makuta fight each other with their powers, but the Toa wins by using their powers to imprison Makuta in the Shadow Realm again. Because the Toa have saved the island from evil and fulfilled the prophecy, they go back to where they came from: the stars. Weird, huh? It is said by the people of Okoto that they would come back when they are needed again. The 2016 also ended the whole G2 Storm and that is because Lego made a decision to cancel it in 2016 for some reason (maybe because there are so many priorities that Lego is too busy with, like The Lego Movies, Lego Dimensions, Star Wars, Ninjago, Nexo Knights, and Brick Heads, in 2017?) rather than continuing it with a third year. How super-horrible! We are all upset about this terrible event and find it unfair. It's like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series in 2012 and 2014 all over again. (I cried in tears when it happened. ) Right now, we are hoping that Bionicle will come back someday (I'm sure it will, like how DC Comics brings back Batman to the movies and Marvel brings back Spider-Man to the movies. ). Bionicle is 16 years old. It had been a great, fun, and awesome journey for us, and we, the fans, are keeping it alive. Throughout its life, there are so many sets of various kinds, like small sets, medium sets, canisters, boxes, large and titan sets, play sets with minifigures, vehicle sets, and combiner sets, like Takutanuva, Ultimate Dume, Voporak, Irnakk, and Vezon and Kardas. In the beginning of G1, there were always gear systems and stiff limbs, but as G1 went on, the sets became more flexible with bendable limbs and abandoned the gear systems. They also got new pieces with new molds. They always have many interesting weapons, like masks and weapons. The sets also include very cool play features. The 2009 sets even have this action figure game as they have life counters on them. When Bionicle returned in 2015, the sets came with the CCBS system and combined the returned gear systems and bendable parts along with new Bionicle-and-CCBS-mixed pieces. There are collectibles that have small valuable pieces like Kanohi masks, Krana, Kraata, Kanoka disks, Rhotuka spinners, Zamor spheres, and Sea Squids, too. The sets in general came in various good colors, even though they don't have much purple until 2015. Plus, there weren't sets for G1 characters who don't have official physical descriptions. There are also media that support the toy line, and they include online games, video games, a computer game called The Legend of Mata Nui (which was cancelled, sadly), board games, app games, four direct-to-video movies, clothes and accessories, chapter books, comic books, graphic novels, online animations, commercials, and a Netflix TV show called The Journey to One. The media made the toy line a big franchise. Bionicle has inspired many people. They made MOCs and fanbase websites, like us as BZPower and the "Mask of Destiny" website. There were also a lot of contests that made fans expand the G1 story with MOCs and their own stories, whether they can be consider canon or not. We are always ambitious to get, build, and play with them. We always have emotions toward the G1 and G2 stories. We, the fans, also draw pictures of Bionicle stuff, too. I, for example, drew superheroes inspired by Toa. Bionicle is always in our hearts. Bionicle has also gone popular over its G1 years. It even appeared in The Lego Movie for a split second (it only featured the Toa Mata). There are many franchises that remind us of Bionicle, like Steven Universe, Hero Factory, and Ninjago. Who knew that we have so much nostalgia, based on one of our favorite childhood things, which is Bionicle? Even Bionicle G2 has some G1 things and references. There are some things that looked like that they celebrated Bionicle's other anniversaries or just for references or coincidences. Here the list of this stuff: 2006: Bionicle's 5th anniversary - how the Piraka arrived to Voya Nui with the Toa Mata's canisters is like how the 2001 storyline (Bionicle first storyline) began: the Toa Mata came to the island of Mata Nui with their canisters. 2010: Bionicle's tenth year - the Golden Armor gives me the idea that it is to celebrate Bionicle's tenth year. 2011: Bionicle's 10th anniversary - how Hero Factory's storyline, Savage Planet, is like reminds me of the 2001 storyline, too, because they both are about robotic heroes arriving from the sky to fight against an evil villain and his army of mind-controlled robotic animals in a jungle (perhaps to celebrate Bionicle's anniversary because HF replaced Bionicle to keep the constraction figure category alive?). You might that that the reason why HF's Rocka's armor is gold because it is to celebrate, too. Lol. I know 2011 is the year where Bionicle's G1 story stopped with cliffhangers, but let's look that the bright side by thinking about my comparison between the 2001 storyline and Savage Planet. 2015: Bionicle's fifteenth year - perhaps its return is used to celebrate Bionicle's fifteenth year. 2016: Bionicle's 15th anniversary - the Netflix show has this text "2001-2016", which shows Bionicle's life. I know this year is where Bionicle ended again, but let's look at the bright side by looking at that. Now the history is out of the way, let's talk about how do we celebrate Bionicle's 15th anniversary since we are fans of it. How are we going to do it? What great things would you wish Bionicle to have in the future? Well, here are some ideas based on my thoughts: 1. The story G1 story being continued and then ended with a good closure. 2. An announcement of a video game, a place in Lego Dimensions (if LD continues in 2018 because I have some doubt about it), or a movie (hopefully a cinematic one). 3. A golden Bionicle statue or monument, like a giant version of a Tahu set. 4. A TT game similar to Sonic Generations or a direct-to-video movie similar to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Turtles Forever, where the G1 heroes meet the G2 ones to travel to the Bionicle eras from 2001 to 2016 to stop a villainous Great Being named Velika from somehow altering time and space with the help of G1 and G2 villains from past and present. Perhaps it would take place on both G1 and G2. Sonic Generations celebrated Sonic's 20th anniversary in 2011 and Turtles Forever celebrated TMNT's 25th anniversary in 2009 like that, so I think it could work that way. 5. Some activity that we could do as a fan community. 6. Re-use and play with the Bionicle sets and media. For example, watching all four movies and the Netflix show. 7. Make a birthday cake. 8. At least a leaked image or sneak peak to Bionicle's second return or G3 in 2018 (just my theory). 9. A video showing the history of Bionicle, similar to the Superman one in 2013 when it was celebrating Superman's 75th anniversary or to the Sonic one in last year, 2016, when it was celebrating Sonic's 25th anniversary. Also, what is your best moment(s) and/or memory(ies) of Bionicle? For me, I like the 2001 line, the Toa Nuva, Takanuva, 2003 Makuta, the combiner sets, the 2006-2009 lines, Mask of Life, combining the 2008 Matoran sets with the 2008 Toa and Makuta canister sets, Axalara T9, Skorpio XV-1, the titan-sized Toa Mata Nui set in 2009, the movies, the awakening of the Great Spirit Mata Nui, the giant robot fight in 2010, the return of Bionicle in 2015, Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder, combining the Great Elemental Creatures with the Toa Uniters and Umarak the Hunter, the Netflix TV show, 2016 Ekimu set, and Umarak the Destroyer. I know it's a lot, but it's worth celebrating Bionicle's 16th anniversary. Aw, man! Bionicle is a teenager in high school now! Anyway, what are your thoughts? Plus, let's celebrate!
  10. So I was just browsing tumblr, as you do, and I happened to stubbled upon a vast treasure trove of imfornation regarding BIONICLE in terms of seemingly old marketing of non-brick based merchandise, amougnst other BIONICLE-Related things. Amoungst those things I found this: http://68.media.tumblr.com/fb4e316d91deee7925d567714b39f23f/tumblr_otfoy12gms1w60mdao7_500.jpg It is a plug and play that never officially released, and read it up yourself if you want, but it would have you playing as Takanuva seemingly during the Hordika Arch for whatever reason, and you the player playing as Takanuva would have battled against foes such as Sidorak, Roodaka, and finally Makuta. Along the way rescuring Matoran and battling Visorak. Now, I have not seen anything regarding this piece of history with BIONICLE whatsoever, so it seems to me that I have stumbled upon something otherwise unheard of. Plug and Play games were common at the time, and so it probably wouldn't have been unheard of for such a thing to be released, but from what I can tell this is the only reference to it, at least that I have found. This is the Tumblr I found it on: https://matoroblogs.tumblr.com What are your guy's thoughts on this? Perhaps something can be uncovered about this.
  11. Author's note: composing this on a mobile device apparently does not allow formatting, so I may edit this work after publishing it. It's a quick-and-dirty (not like that - this is game of thrones after all) story I thought up after watching game of thrones, not meant to be part of a larger work or anything. You don't have to worry about spoilers either - I'm just imagining what a game of thrones plot line would look like in a Bionicle context. Enjoy! Toa Tahu had been alive for a very long time. 100,000 years, more or less. When you're that old, a few centuries here or there don't matter anymore. He'd been asleep for most of it though, thanks to the fact that he was destined to save the great spirit if something happened to him. After almost two years of wakefulness inside the robot that turned out to actually be the great spirit, he had lived on spherus magna for many more, and it had been a relatively peacefully life - until the Others came from the north. Today, as he fell from the sky toward the army of the dead marching below, he wondered if his life was going to come to an end. A number of years ago, an expeditionary force of ko-matoran and ice agori had gone north, to find out what lay at that geographical extreme. It was rumored that that is where the great beings had gone, among other rumors that swirled among the denizens of the new metru nui. They didn't find anything - or so everyone thought. A couple months after they left, horrible beings descended upon the new society from the north, bringing cold and death with them. They seemed to have ice powers, and beyond that ability to control snow and other forms of frozen water, they had the ability to destroy heat it seemed as well - that was not a standard part of elemental ice powers. More than that, it seemed they also had the powers of the kanohi tryna - for along with them, they brought an army of the dead, and they added to that army all who fell before them. Eventually, it was discovered that the dead were vulnerable to fire, although the strange Others - dubbed "white walkers" by Turaga Matau - seemed to require extremely high temperatures to be felled, as they were more resistant to the heat, likely through their destruction of it. They could be felled, however, by a particular type of stone that had formed from cooling magma, and this was used by onu- and po-toa to help drive them back. After being driven back North to a certain point, a great wall was made, and charged with the elements to repel any of their attacks, and the matoran and agori were allowed to rebuild their city for a time. The wall became known to the matoran as the new great barrier, thanks to another astute observation by turaga matau, but they knew in their hearts that they couldn't ignore the white walkers forever. What few were aware of, however, was that there had been a captive taken during the war. While those creatures were extremely durable, they could still be held captive, and interrogated. What was discovered was that, no, they hadn't harmed the ko-matoran expeditionary force sent north years earlier, they were the expeditionary force. They had found a small pool of energized protodermis in the north, and a kanohi tryna hovering above it. In their efforts to investigate, they had fallen in, and been transformed, not into toa or glatorian, but a horrible homogeneous mix of the two with powers and abilities that were yet unseen, and a burning hatred for all. The mask had also fallen in, and that, apparently, is where their ability to raise an army of the dead came from - and nothing with any of this had to do with the red star, who's inhabitants had been brought back to live properly, and who had since lived under suspicion when the White Walkers came. On one cold late-autumn day a few years later, the guard force on the great barrier reported a massive army - larger than anyone had ever seen - marching towards the wall. Surely, all the toa and glatorian in all of their great cities could not withstand such a fight. A painstaking decision lay before the toa. With knowledge from Gali and the other two nuva, they knew what a Nova blast could do. With that power, they might be able to save their people. After much debate and deliberation, with the turaga, glatorian, matoran, agori, and amongst themselves, a battle plan was decided upon. That was why Tahu was currently plunging to his doom. As he fell, he remembered a final rehearsal of the plan before taking off. It was absurdly simple, yet still horrible. Tahu, as the only toa with enough other powers - from his use of the golden armor - to fight after using up his elemental power, and as a fire toa, was chosen to be the one to go. Lewa, as his brother in arms, volunteered to fly him over the army of the dead. From there, tahu was to fall towards the army, and unleash a Nova blast of fire, effectively becoming a bomb over them. The flames would wipe out a good portion of the army, and it would take time for the rest to reach him. Botar was waiting on the wall - he would teleport to the toa and bring him back - but in the event that he was too late, tahu had other powers he could use to fight the walkers before he could be extracted. Tahu fell, and he charged his blast. He wanted to wait as long as possible before releasing it, to allow lewa to get away, although he prayed he was high enough up that it wouldn't matter. Closer... Closer... The dead looked up and saw the glowing fireball descending upon them. From how many there were, tahu guessed they had raised an army of everyone who had ever lived and died. Less than a second before he would have hit the ground, and falling at a considerable speed, and still about a hundred feet in the air, tahu unleashed his power. It was as great and terrible as Gali had told him it would be. His fall rapidly slowed as the concussive force from the explosion pushed on him. He felt the power flowing from him, and it seemed to never end. A compression wave of hot flames rushed over the dead, far and wide, and they were cremated instantly, allowed to finally rest in peace, freed from the enthrallment of the white walkers. Tahu barely saw the ground rushing up through the flames, and he fell into the crater and hit the ground hard, and lay still. Botar saw the mushroom cloud rise, and covered his audio receptors, and braced himself. A second later, a shockwave greeted him and the toa standing with him on the top of the wall's highest tower. After the light died down, and only smoke and ash were billowing in the sky, he vanished into thin air. Tiny fires smoldered for kilos around. At the center of it all, a red toa lay in the bottom of a crater, unconscious. Botar appeared next to him, scooped him up, and vanished again, as he heard the characteristic sound of animated corpses screaming as they ran towards him. Tahu slowly opened his eyes. He was laying on something soft, somewhere dark and quiet. Everything hurt. He sat up quickly, and fumbled for his sword, thinking the battle wasn't over. Lewa and Gali stood over him, and the rest of his teammates were in the room as well. Lewa clanged his fist, meeting his questioning gaze as he realized what was going on. "We did it brother," he said. "It's over. It's finally over."
  12. I wanted to take a break from drawing large, technically exhausting pictures for a bit; so, I decided to experiment with Gali's color palate with a rough sketch of her regular clothes. As I was playing around with different colour schemes and pairings, I never really noticed how much colour plays a part into a character's personality. Just looking at the differences between each one really gives me an idea of what kind of person each one is-even without them saying or doing anything, which I think pretty neat. With this in mind, I really like how the first one's colour palate worked out. I'm hoping to do a larger picture with more details later on, hopefully with more energy and "liveliness" than my last one. (I feel like she was little stiff and that she wasn't as natural as I'd like her to be). **As a side note, because of some insightful feedback, I realized I didn't explain why I'm drawing things this way; this is why I want to share why Gali is still wearing a mask instead of just having her normal face showing. This is because for the series I'm writing/illustrating, "The Halfway", wearing masks is an extremely important part of the story and world these characters live in. The reason why everyone needs to wear them is based on major events that happened in the past and have huge implications for the plot; because of this, I've intentionally added and designed each character to look normal, except for masks covering their faces. And as a result, something looks off about the pictures; they look odd, strange, or uncomfortable, and these is exactly the feelings I want to convey. (More details about this can be found on my DeviantArt page: http://fav.me/dberb8n) What do you think? Do you have a favourite colour scheme, and if so, why? And as always, critique is welcome and appreciated.
  13. This is my first Bionicle film; two Matoran partake in the illegal sport of disk dueling, it is only short and mainly just serves as an introduction for me into animating Bionicle figures, please leave whatever constuctive feedback you like
  14. For a long time, I've been thinking about making a Bionicle RPG game that would accurately depict the storyline, from the beginning. Recently, I finally began to work on the idea, using RPG Maker VX Ace and stuff I already had in place from my Voyage of Fear game to create a retelling of the 2001 story. I decided to pick Kopaka as a sort of main protagonist, so the game follows canon story events from his perspective. The game is still under development, fully playable from start to finish. It contains about 3 hours of gameplay as of now, and goes through all the important story elements. DOWNLOAD THE DEMO (VERSION 2) (updated 30.5.2017) You can view screenshots below: Now, this is still very much a work in progress, and if you feel like you can contribute somehow, please let me know. All help would be appreciated. If you have and know how to use VX Ace, even better, but it's not necessary. For example, I'm always in need of sprites and other graphical things, cause I'm not very good at them myself. So I will gladly accept help on those departments. Play the demo, and let me know what you think. All feedback is appreciated, and possibly used to improve the next version of the demo.
  15. A pod opens out as liquid protodermis seeps out. A being from a long time ago has reawakened. His body and face are all scarred from battles from long ago even though his body was preserved and reconstructed. A deep and dark computer voice speaks, "Welcome Flaredrick. It has been a while." The battered Toa regains his vision and consciousness. "Where am I? How long have I been out?" "We are in your secret underground bunker where you have been confined to your healing chamber. Roughly a whole year has past since you last stepped foot into this world." The Toa walks up to a console where many screens are showing activity of the outside world. "What happened while I was gone?" "The Mafia is still going on strong, but a new contender has risen. One known as Game of Thrones." "Isn't that a show where different clans brutally manipulate each other and gruesomely kill each other for odd reasons while your favorite character dies?" "Indeed." The Toa scratches his mask in bewilderment. "Who would've known that would be a thing." "They are in their second season as we speak." "Wow! Two whole seasons while I was gone. Time really does fly." "The Bionifight Contest is still going on strong, but mostly they keep calling it Bionifight One." "Why? Couldn't they come up with a catcher name than that?" "Analysis unknown." "What about Hitman? Are they still going?" "Unfortunately, the series did keep going until it dropped from the face of this world. It has not been held since then." "What?!" The Toa's anger flared up as the temperature began to rocket around him. "How dare they not continue such an honored tradition! This is unacceptable!" He slammed his fist onto the console and made a dent into the machine's systems. Then, an idea popped into the Toa's head as he began to calm down. "Computer...launch the initiative." "Re_engaging systems...searching combatants..." "I think it's high time we show the world what a true battle royal is like. Gather the best fighters that this world has to offer...cause in this game...there is no room for the weak to survive." ..... How to Play: In Hitman, the objective is to kill all you opponents until only one is left standing. At each round, all players must PM me their intended target for the round. You must tell me by which means of killing you are wanting to dispatch your target, as well as which Gambler's Shard you would like to use, should you want to use it. Each player will PM me a stat sheet of themselves with resistances ranging from 1-6. No two stats can be the same number. Ex: Sharp Object: 1 Blunt Object: 2 Elemental: 3 Poison: 4 Explosives: 5 Ranged: 6 In order for your kill to be successful, a die will be rolled and if the number rolled is equal or higher than the resistance of the target, then you are awarded a kill. For instance: Hapori Tohu uses heat vision on Black Six. Black Six's resistance to elemental damage is 3, but the die rolled onto a 5. Black Six is vaporized into ashes. Be creative with your arsenal so long as a weapon type is included. When players PM their target for the round, they have the option to use a Gambler's Shard. Rules and regulations for the shards are as follows: Possibility Shard: Die is rolled. If even, likelihood of survival is increased, but if odd, survival is diminished. Iden Shard: Choose a coin outcome. Pick a second target. Upon death (if ever), if your choice was correct, you are awarded the second kill (However, success is not guaranteed), otherwise, no kills are made. Sanok Shard: Choose number between 1-6. Die is rolled. If die lands on your number, then you are 100% guaranteed the kill for the round. Pakari Stone: Choose a resistance. Die is rolled. If even, add the outcome to the number rolled for the kill. If odd, subtract. Hau Shard: Die is rolled. If even, add number to a specific resistance. If odd, subtract. When using a Gambler's Shard, just say in your PM, "I'd like to use Iden Shard," and follow the instructions. Disclaimer: You only have one of each shard. Use them wisely. Rules: 1) All BZPower rules apply 2) Please only use one PM throughout the duration of the game. 3) Do NOT switch up targets mid-round. If I am given a second target (unless by shard), I will ignore your second target and go with your first choice. 4) Please do not complain about the outcomes. I only roll once with a six-sided die (unless it is the final round and the supposed outcome rolled would be everyone dying). 5) Have fun Players: 1: Toa TimeLord 2: Valendale 10: Toa Smoke Monster 13: Blessed Blade 14: xccj 17: Fluorescent Flowers 18:JAG18 24: Makuta Luroka 27: Shadow Vezon Admission is now closed

Thank you! Cas
  17. Gali picking berries, coloured grass and tree bark (tannin) for dyes in the Ko-Koro moonlight. *** After a total of two months from sketch to finish, I'm very happy to how this piece turned out; I think this is the longest and hardest I've ever worked on a piece of art. This was my first attempt at a complete background and my first time using SAI paint as my design software. I think the hardest parts for me out of everything were designing the shape of the basket (I hate that stupid basket!) and trying to add shadow and texture to the mountains/snow. This piece started out as just a costume design for Gali's cold-weather clothing, but as I was doing more and more research into Ko-Koro for the story aspect of The Halfway, I noticed from both the depictions from the map of Mata Nui, (and from fan drawings of the region from Deviant Art), Ko-Koro was almost always shown to be a barren, frozen, wasteland. And while I did love and appreciate seeing more scenery from Ko-Koro, and the ruggedness and harshness of the land, part of me was thinking: "There has to be more to Ko-Koro than just snow-covered rocks" Thinking about the map reminded me of the Canadian Rockies, which looking down to earth from space, just looks like snow-covered rocks. But having lived and worked in the Rockies before, I've come to see just how beautiful and awe-inspiring the entire area is; with crystal turquoise-blue water, lush evergreen forests, and majestic sedimentary mountains, the view from any time of day is absolutely breathtaking. So, this year being such a major milestone for Canada (Happy 150th Birthday, Canada!), I was inspired to model a background after one of Canada's most iconic and well-loved places: Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta. The idea for the dark, star-lit sky came from the bright, radiantly clear night skies of Banff and Jasper National Park (Jasper being a Dark Sky Preserve). I wanted to show that there is more to Ko-Koro (and it's inhabitants) than what others might expect. Yes, the Ko-Matoran do like to keep to themselves, but a large part of what keeps them home is the strong connection they feel to their land- with all the rugged, untamed, and overwhelming beauty it contains. And as always, feedback is always welcome and appreciated. Cheers!
  18. Man, this is a controversial topic. During Generation 1's decade-long run, we got lots of constraction sets. Lots. And lots of them. But, for every Brutaka or Maxilos, we get an Umbra or Krekka. Today, let's take a look at some of the worst Bionicle sets, in no particular order. 1: 8625 Umbra When I first found out about this set, I thought he looked pretty cool and interestingly designed. But when I look more at the set, I realise it's quite flawed. The colour scheme is inconsistent, his 'roller blades' are just weird, and the build is a bit clunky. My opinion of this light-wielding guardian may be a bit harsh, considering it's still a mildly okay set, but in comparison to many of the other sets released that year, or the years that came before or followed it, it is quite a bad set. Not only that, but his design is lackluster. To my knowledge, there are no exclusive parts made for him, and the newest things we get out of him are a new melded Rhotuka and some recolourings. In conclusion, this set was uninspired and rushed, looking more like a MOC than an a good, solid set. 2: 8623 Krekka In the winter (summer for all you people from the Northern Hemisphere) of 2004, we moved on from the threat of the Morbuzakh and the Vahki to have more focus on the Dark Hunter duo, Nidhiki and Krekka, who were each given their own respective sets. Whilst the Nidhiki set had a solid build and a good design, the Krekka set didn't satisfy us as much as Nidhiki did. Krekka himself does have some positive things about him, them being a consistent colour scheme and an intended brute look, the cons outweighed the pros. The torso ended up being extremely clunky and bulky for a head moving function, the design is riddled with gaps, and his limbs are quite flimsy. While Krekka is still an okay set, it is mainly let down by it's lack of armour and clunky design. 3: 8912 Toa Mahri Hewkii What I am about to complain about also applies to some of the other Toa Mahri sets, but this Toa of Stone ends up being the worst. Matoro had a slightly awkward build, but still looked pretty good, and Kongu was bulky and lazily designed, but still consistent. Hewkii here doesn't really have any redeeming qualities. His build is really flimsy and weak, and the rest of his build is really awkward. Hewkii has chains again, like his Inika counterpart, which is... okay, he has a really strange mask that tries to substitute as armour, and fails at that, and he is just lazily built overall. Sorry Hewkii, not going to impress Macku. So, that's about all. Besides the Stars line, Bionicle has had a mostly bulletproof reputation when it comes to good sets, so as making this list more unique and slightly pointless. What are some of the worst set in your opinion? You probably have more bad sets on your list than I do. Let me know!
  19. So I know that BZP has been going strong for maaaaany maaaaaany years and its well known within the Bionicle community but does anyone see reddit.com/r/bioniclelego thread as a possible threat to BZPower? Does anyone think that /r/bioniclelego will come out on top in the future as reddit in whole is a more popular platform? #BioTube2017
  20. The first thing he gave her was a poorly carved bird. It wasn’t until much later that they would laugh about how sorrily made the bird was, but at the time, she took it with twinkling eyes and outstretched hands. He had never whittled anything before, but when they first met she had mentioned how she had always admired the talent. He tried his hand at it the moment he got home, because he couldn’t get her out of his mind otherwise. “This is beautiful,” she said as she took it from him, and she really meant it, because she was that kind of person. She could look at something in earnest and judge it not for what it appeared to be, but what it meant. And she knew what the carving meant, and she loved him then on for it. ---- The second thing he gave her was his devotion. “Devotion is the true mark of belief,” the Great Brother had said, “For if one truly believes in something - actually, earnestly believes - one cannot help but be devoted to it.” And so he gave her his devotion, for he truly believed in her. ---- The third thing he gave to her was belief. She was initially skeptical of the Great Brother, for she had heard the stories and the secrets told in the darkness, the rumors that were whispered at rowdy night taverns. She, like all of the others, had seen them at one point or another, the Ancient Ones, the Master Crafters. The Mask Makers. There were those who swore upon their lives that the other brother, the Wise Master, was the true master craftsman. That the Great Brother was nothing but a Mask Hoarder, a Derelict Forger of broken things. But the moment she saw him, she knew. She knew who he was and what he meant to do. “You are a great man, seeking great things,” she said. “If Kulta believes in you, then I shall too.” He was happy at her remarks. “We will rule,” he said later, when they were alone. “Together, under him. I shall be a King and you shall be a Queen.” She laughed. “I am no one’s Queen,” she said, with the smiling firmness he had come to admire. “I am my own ruler.” He bowed, with the graciousness she had come to cherish. “Of course. Shall we be two Kings instead?” “I would settle for lordship,” she said. “Two lords can live in partnership, can they not?” “We can manage,” he said, smiling. ---- The fourth thing he gave was himself, for he had nothing else to give and yet wanted to give more still. This gift, as with his first, she took in open arms. For the first time in his life, he knew happiness and knew it in abundance. ---- They came for the Great Brother’s followers without a warning, their numbers filling the city, house to house, block to block. The other brother, the Wise Master, had received a vision, they said. The Great Brother was to ravage the world unless he was stopped. All followers were now heretics, to be shamed and stripped of their personhood. He first saw them when they came to the market, seizing a follower by the scruff of the neck and wrenching the mask from his face. The mask was a symbol, they said, that the Wise Master had made in his image. Those who would stand against the Wise Master could no longer bear his face. And so they ripped the masks from their bodies, and laid their skulls bare to the world. He could hear the screams as the armies of the Wise Master turned followers into heretics. Those without masks would wither soon, for they were not long for this world. He escaped, narrowly, and as quick as he could returned to his home. He was too late. She wept, the tears streaming down her skull. “They took my face from me,” was all she could say. He wiped the tears from her eyes, and stared into them as long as he could. They stared back, the piercing gaze that always saw him for what he was worth. The brilliance in them died as she withered away, a cold hollow skull where his everything used to be. Then the city ruptured around him, the earth rumbling and quaking into a cascade of power. The ground was ripped from under him, and he sank into the underworld below. Some say that the Great Brother forced the Wise Master’s hand. Others that the Wise Master tried to rid the world of the Great Brother before his vision could come true. The stories always ended the same, with the island torn asunder and the city and its inhabitants all but forgotten. ---- But he lived, against the odds, a cruel irony for someone who had nothing left to live for. He prayed, in that moment, for he knew not what else to do. “Great Brother, he said, “I have believed, and I have been devoted. Guide me now.” He prayed, and out of the silence came hope. I offer a bargain to you, said the voice. I ask for your devotion yet again, to help free me from my chains. In return, I will bring you back what matters to you the most. “What must I do?” He said back to the darkness. I have given you a gift, one that can cheat death, the voice said. It will give you back what you love, but it may not be in the form that you desire. “If there is any chance,” he said. “I will do all that you command.” ---- For millennia, he searched, combing the underworld, searching every crevice and crook in the dark. He knew not what he was searching for, but he needed not to know. He was devoted, and that was what all that mattered. She was his reason, and he believed in her. They would be together again. Ages passed until he found it. His fingers barely brushed along the side of it, but already he knew it was what he had been searching for. The magic ebbed out of the golden mask, a radiant glow that he could not describe. He prayed, and out of the silence came instruction. Are you still devoted, child? Do you still believe? “Yes,” he said. “I will hold my end of the bargain.” Your love has made her strong. Be with her again. He felt the power surge through him, rippling through his body and out into his limbs. It was as if his own life force was halved, cut out of him in the blink of an eye. Before him, a writhing monstrosity screamed into existence. Six limbs bent themselves onto the ground, and he heard a voice he feared he’d never hear. “...Who am I?” she said, as if stirred from a long slumber. He looked at her, at the eldritch abomination that stood before him, and saw her as she did, to the meaning underneath the skin. To him, her form did not matter, for if she had looked at his first gift to her with judging eyes instead of her own, he would have been all the lesser. Give her your purpose. “You are...a Lord. A Lord of the Undead, of the Skulls of the Slain.” She paused in silence. “I remember being more,” she said, sadly. “Do you not remember the same?” He could not look her in the eye. “We owe the Great Brother a great debt,” he said. “It must be paid. Only then can we cherish the past.” He showed her the mask and its uses, and she in return gifted undead life and limbs back to the skulls of their fallen brethren. The mark of the heretics would now be the mark of the underworld. ---- The two Lords came together, their armies working as one. He rallied the underworld to his cause, and she swarmed the island with the voices of the dead. They ravaged the island, driving those who had harmed them from their homes. They were hopelessly outnumbered. So they summoned the demons. The demons fell from the stars and struck with power that none had seen before, driving their armies back, hunting them into the ground. They took her and they beat her, stripping her of her power and casting her back into the underworld, broken. He faced the Wise Master for the first time, the man who had cost him everything. His rage turned into fury, but his fury was in vain. He was cast out too, out of what remained of his home, a memory so old but still fresh. When he sought her, she was wounded, unable to move. Her armies had gone without her, and she was not long for this world. Even dark magic would to naught to save her. “The Great Brother will save us,” he said. “He saved us before and he’ll save us again. You’ve looked into his heart, you know this to be true.” She did not reply. “The Great Brother is nothing,” she said at last. “I saw nothing in his heart but greed and sorrow. He is not but a maker of broken things.” He was taken aback. “But you said...” She smiled. “I looked into your heart and saw devotion, and I could not bear to see that devotion die. It made you purposeful. It gave you reason.” “You gave me reason,” he meant to say, but he choked on his own words. They sat in silence until he was the only one silent. ---- He rallied the underworld again, to fight the demons and the Wise Master of the world above. He faced the Wise Master for the last time. He was shown no mercy. He was soundly defeated. He lay, buried alive, at the depths of the underworld. Rubble had broken every bone in his body. Every breath was a burning ache, deep into his lungs, as air and dust became mixed into one musty gasp for life. He prayed, and out of the silence came doubt. There were no words and there were no promises. The Great Brother had forsaken him. He withered away, for there were no more reasons to live.
  21. Love 'em or hate 'em, thanks to the kanohi Olmak, Bionicle is full of them. On my BS01 userpage I made a list of a bunch of them that probably exist, given the fact that there are literally an infinite number of alternate realities that could exist in the canon. I thought it'd be a fun writing prompt to post here (if i've posted this in the wrong place, please let me know!) and see what everyone comes up with: pick one of the alternate realities from the link above (or make your own!) and write a little short story based on it. (make sure to say what's different from the main canon reality before your story starts!) Make a new topic so people can comment on your story per usual, and reply to this with the link so everyone here can see it! Have fun!
  22. Hey everybody, just wanted to let you know about my new YouTube channel and give you a chance to check out my first Bionicle centered video. If you've ever wanted to hear the voice or see the face behind my nonexistent profile pic, here's your chance. It is unscripted and I know I used the wrong name of a character at least once, and some of you may cringe at my choice of pronunciation. But it's family and work friendly, I enjoyed making it, and I hope you'll like it-it's the intended start of a series. Let me know what you think on the YouTube page or here in the topic, whether it's approval, disapproval, suggestions, or whatnot. EDIT: Wasn't really feeling that version of the video...and it looks like nobody else was either. I may redo it in the near future after I've found some ways to improve my videos. In the meantime, there are a couple of other videos on my channel, and hopefully I'll have another Bionicle-centric one up for you before too long. EDIT2: Let's try this again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue8MqagoIhw&feature=youtu.be
  23. The Great Hunt Introduction: My entry re-imagines the second year of G2. In this iteration, there are 3 Great Masks: the Mask of Duty, the Mask of Unity, and the Mask of Destiny. At the start of the series, Makuta used the Mask of Destiny to rewrite the cosmic order. The first year focuses on the Mask of Duty. Matorans use it to awaken the Toa to Makuta's plot. This year centers on the Mask of Unity. More on that below. The third year concludes with the Mask of Destiny and which fate Okoto and its inhabitants choose for themselves. Cast: Elemental Creatures: Like the 2016 sets, there are six animals linked to the elements. Creature of Stone - Nui Jaga, the scorpion Creature of Water – Takea, hammerhead shark Creature of Fire – Kaa, the lava hawk Creature of Earth – Gravlok, the cave bear Creature of Air – Gukko, the jungle bird Creature of Ice – Kane-Ra, the snow ox Wardens: Matoran chosen by the Spirit of the Wild to defend her creatures; an updated version of the Rahaga. Kiva the Stonewarden – A cowboy; preferring the open range. Nixie the Seawarden – A priest; she listens for the movement of the Great Spirits Agni the Flamewarden – A warrior; if she can't solve a problem by hitting it, she isn't hitting it hard enough. Tehutti the Earthwarden – An inventor in a society that values physical strength. Mistral the Skywarden – A hunter; this is a source of internal conflict. Ehyre the Snowwarden – A hermit who must now work with others. Hunters: The hunters follow Umarak, the Huntmaster. Arid – A Skull Hunter; serves Umarak but may have another agenda. Tempest – A pirate; who doesn't mind hunting if the pay is good. Skorch – A bounty hunter with a high resistance to fire and heat. Onyx the Claw – A grappler constantly looking to test his strength. Mistral – She hunts anything that flies. Snowstalker & Klyma – Snowstalker comes from a cat-like race called the Muaka. Klyma, a female matoran, who is Snowstalker's translator and valet. Titans: Umarak, Master of the Hunt – He want to hunt the ultimate game, a Great Spirit. Rahaga, Great Spirit of the Wild – A celestial being who watches over the wilds of Okoto. The Story A quick prologue shows Umarak and Arid, the Skull Hunter, exploring the ruins of a jungle temple. They discover a wall carving showing six animals. This grabs Umarak's attention, but the real prize is found by Arid. It is the Golden Mask of Unity. Umarak retrieves it and promises to put it to good use. He uses the Mask to merge shadow with the plants overgrowing in the temple, creating these wicked looking shadowthorns. Arid finally speaks saying the Toa won't know what hit them. Act 1: The Call of the Wild The story proper begins in the jungles of Okoto. The creature of Air, Gukko, lands for a drink. The jungle grows quiet. Gukko picks up on this, but before she can flee is his with a shadowthorn arrow. Gukko bellows in pain but flies off. In the underbrush, Mistral watches where the bird flies and sink back into the shadows. Elsewhere in the jungle, Lewa is flying high on patrol. Without warning, his air power gives out and he tumbles out of the sky. Lewa doesn't know what happened, but knows someone who might: Elder Matau. He starts walking toward the Leaf village of Le-Koro as the sky grows ominously darker. Mistral returns to camp; a dark, thorny hollow in the middle of the Temple ruins. A group of unsavory types glare at her return. She ignore them reporting directly to Umarak. She describes her hunt of the Gukko bird and the effect of the shadowthorns. Umarak looks pleased and snaps off more thorns to hand out to the other hunters. Each hunter is assigned a bounty. Arid will hunt the nimble Nui Jaga in the deserts. Tempest will hunt the swift Takea in the seas surrounding Okoto. Onyx will hunt the mighty Graalok in the caverns. Skorch must retrieve the fiery Kaa from the lava fields. And Snowstalker must capture the formidable Kane Ra in the snowy drifts of the mountains. Each creature must be captured alive. Umarak pointedly stares at Skorch. Skorch smirks but agrees to the terms. Umarak has one more mission for Mistral. She must finish her hunt and bring in Gukko. She obeys and heads out like all the hunters. In the jungle, Gukko crashes to the ground. Her wing is black and completely useless. She bellows a long, pitiable cry. A cry heard by Rahaga, the Spirit of the Wild. Rahaga responds with a call of her own, the Call of the Wild. The call is only heard by a chosen few. In Ga-Koro, Nixie hears the call and jumps into the sea. On the sand-swept plains of Po-wahi, Kiva hears the call, but shakes it off continuing to tend his herd. On the slopes of Mount Ihu, Ehyre hears the call and changes direction in his solitary trek. In the caverns of Onu-koro, Tehutti hears the call and starts building. And in the village of Ta-Koro, Agni hears the call and runs to Elder Vakama. Vakama doesn't know about the Call, but knows a matoran who might. Vakama takes her and Toa Tahu to see Norik. Norik is the village's vet. He can treat matorans in a pinch, but specializes in wildlife. When he hears Agni's account, Norik recognizes the Call of the Wild. He explains just as Mata Nui watches over the people of Okoto, Rahaga looks after its creatures. If she is calling, it means the Wilds are in danger. Norik suggests Agni find the Creature of Fire, Kaa. Together, they might locate the trouble. Tahu offers to help and together, they begin the search. Back in the jungle, Mistral shakes off the Call of the Wild to focus on her hunt. She's tracked Gukko and closes in. When Mistral spots her prey, she is shocked by how much the corruption has spread. She looks at the shadowthorns with disgust and throws them to the ground. She nets the bird and hauls it away. Above, the darkening skies breaking into a furious storm. Act 2: The Thrill of the Hunt The storm blows Lewa off course. He is thrown into Mistral and Gukko. There is a brief exchange and Lewa quickly puts together, Mistral is a hunter and the bird needs help. They fight over Gukko. From the outset, Mistral's heart isn't in it. After a brief skirmish, she surrenders the creature of Air. She extracts a promise from Lewa to make sure the bird gets treated. Mistral retreats and Lewa sees to the Gukko bird. Immediately, the howling storm abates. Lewa is so focused on the bird he doesn't make the connection. He takes the bird back to Le-koro. In the lava fields, Agni and Tahu search for Kaa. Tahu is confused about the Spirit of the Wild. Why ask a bunch of animals for help when there are heroes like the Toa? Agni has no answers, but wonders aloud maybe animals see or do things Toa can not. They find a netted lava hawk with the hunter Skorch closing in with a shadowthorn dagger. Toa and Warden jump into action. Tahu takes on Skorch while Agni slips around and free the lava hawk. Skorch holds his ground against Tahu. He sees Agni about to free his quarry and he throws his dagger at her. Tahu tackles Agni saving her, but the dagger hits its true mark, Kaa. The lava field erupts as the fire bird succumbs to the poison. Tahu tries using his elemental powers to tamp down the inferno to no effect. The growing inferno threatens the village of Ta-koro. Tahu is split; save the village or save the Creature of Fire. Tahu chooses the village. He rushes to warn everyone leaving Skorch to slip away with his prize. A powerless Tahu manages to evacuate the village. By the time he returns to the lava fields, Skorch is gone. Kaa is gone, but curiously Agni is also gone. This scenario is repeated across Okoto. Toa and Warden search for their elemental creature only for the hunter to be a step or two ahead of them. When the creature is captured, the elements are thrown out of balance. The Toa's elemental powers are gone. This allows the hunter to escape with their quarry. Mistral returns to camp. She sees her fellow hunters have been successful. Three elemental creatures have already been caught and caged. Umarak is furious she returned empty-handed. Mistral tries to ask about the shadowthorns, but Umarak cuts her off. He orders her back out to retrieve her bounty. She leaves but doesn't go far. Her hunting skills easily pick up a trail. She follows it and finds Agni. There is a brief fight, but it is soon made clear they aren't enemies. Mistral has decided to break with Umarak. Agni shows her why that's a smart call. Another hunter brings in his catch. Umarak is pleased and then breaks out the Mask of Unity and fuses hunters and creature together. Agni surmises something similar happened to the other hunters. The two are found out and the alarm is raised. Umarak sicks his hybrids on the intruders. Agni and Mistral run for their lives, but Agni realizes they will be overtaken. She tells Mistral to find the Toa, then turns around and jumps into the pack of hybrids. Doesn't look back, as Agni is taken down and dragged off to Umarak. Mistral escapes. Act 3: The Great Hunt By now, Okoto is getting battered by the elemental storm. Toa and Wardens brave the treacherous climate to reach Le-Koro. Air is the only element that hasn't turned on them. In Le-Koro, Gukko's condition has stabilized thanks to the matoran animal tender, Iruini. The heroes ponder their next move when Mistral enters their midst. She found them through her connection with Gukko. This is an experience the other wardens recognize. The Toa are doubtful, but when Gukko accepts her, the wardens give her the benefit of the doubt. She gives the heroes the lowdown on Umarak, Agni, and what he has done with the other creatures using the Mask of Unity. They don't have to imagine what these hybrids look like as they attack Le-Koro. The Toa rush to defend the town, but their loss of powers, the elements going wild and the hybrids ferocity put them on the defensive. The Toa get beat down, but Wardens Tehutti and Kiva join in. Unfortunately, it is all a ruse. Two hybrids break in the hut and kidnap Mistral and Gukko. The hybrids return to the temple with their captives. Umarak is pleased. He doesn't reveal his plan, but a captured Agni does. She pieced it together from the reliefs surrounding the temple and her link with Kaa. Umarak wants to summon Rahaga and needs the creatures to do it. Umarak uses the Mask of Unity on Agni and Gukko, but the fusion doesn't take. Umarak moves on to Mistral and fuses here with the bird. This time the fusion works. Mistral and Gukko are connected so the blending works. The elemental storm intensifies as Air loses its balance. But Umarak doesn't care. He wants the hybrids to summon Rahaga. At first they balk, but Umarak threatens to destroy the mask and they'll be permanently fused as hybrids. This convinces most of the hybrids. Mistral still balks. Umarak causally threatens Agni. Mistral, feeling indebted to Agni, complies. Kiva and Ehyre, both trackers, find the hybrid's trail and follow it back to Umarak. They reach the temple just as the summoning ritual is complete. Rahaga appears and Umarak begins the greatest hunt. Not wanting interruptions, he sicks the hybrids on the heroes. Round two begins much like the first one with the Toa getting knocked around. The Toa use their mask powers but it slows down the hybrids not stop them. Tahu busts Agni out of captivity. She grabs the Mask of Unity and orders the Toa and Wardens deeper into the temple. The Toa are puzzled, but obey. The lure the hybrids into the central chamber and Agni uses the Mask of Unity to separate the hybrids into creature and hunter. One by one, the hybrids are split the last being Mistral. Mistral asks to hold off. They need to save Rahaga and she can move faster in this form. With the creatures free, the elemental regain their balance. The Toa start regaining their powers. The Hunter know when they've been beat and sensible surrender. While the Toa take care of them, the Wardens mount their creatures and ride to the rescue of Rahaga. In the jungle, Umarak enjoys the hunt. Rahaga is powerful, but Umarak has hunted big game before. The shadowthorns put Rahaga on the defensive. Umarak prepares for the killing blow. He notches a shadowthorn arrow and fires. The show is blocked by Mistral. Mistral attacks distracting Umarak for only a moment. He tries again, but this time stopped by Agni and Kaa. Soon the other Wardens and creatures arrive to protect the Spirit of the Wild and Umarak realizes he's down to his last arrow. Umarak flees, but the Wardens don't let him off that easily. They hunt him now. He finds himself trapped with Takea in the water, Kaa and Gukko in the skies Kane Ra, Nui Jaga and Gravlok covering every escape. Rahaga wants to tear out his throat, but the Wardens argue mercy. Rahaga instead marks him. Now every creature great and small knows to attack him. It starts with a swarm of flies but soon larger animals join in the hunt. Umarak flees into the jungle as the jungle screams and howls at the ex-hunter. The Toa arrive as Rahaga thanks the wardens and her creatures. Before she departs, Rahaga has some encouraging words for the Toa. She advises them to learn from the Wardens. They won't defeat Makuta without Unity. Rahaga vanishes after that. With the threat managed, Agni separates Mistral and Gukko. She hands the Mask over to the Toa, but they decide it is in better hands with the Wardens. Finally, they come to the Hunter only to find Arid, the Skull Hunter, has vanished. The other captives say he melted into the shadows and disappeared. The wardens pass judgment on the remaining hunters. The more honorable ones like Snowstalker and Onyx are exiled. Tempest and Skorch will face trial. Mistral is ready to face trial alongside her fellow hunters. But the Toa have a different punishment in mind. She is going to restore this Temple, making it up to the Wilds she imperiled. The wardens agree to help her. Another team of heroes has begun. An epilogue has the Toa discussing the Wardens and their latest adventure. The others are excited to have fellow heroes in the fight, but Gali is worried. Arid was clearly a minion of Makuta and it isn't a stretch to think Makuta orchestrated the peril. He chose an indirect route and failed. Next time it will be more direct. The Toa agree they must prepare for Makuta's next attack. The End
  24. My entry to the building contest. I mainly wanted to remake some of the toa to have a better balance of greebles/ccbs, but also to make what I thought shadowmatoran would look similar to. I still can't figure out how to put pictures on here. But, here's the album with all the pictures. https://www.flickr.com/photos/94050823@N02/albums/72157682127903483
  25. I can hear the sound of my little cousin, Cyro crying. Sounds of fright and sadness. Both our houses were suddenly attacked and destroyed. Thank goodness nobody has been hurt. I’ve heard a similar tale of sadness before. Both my story, and this ancient one come from the same origin. It was such a simple path that led to this. Jealousy, and want for fame can lead to darkness, and many times it causes you to forget about others. Who knew that something so commonplace could lead to so much pain? Makuta and Ekimu were brothers. Both made amazing masks that allowed everyone on Okoto to go throughout their lives and complete tasks with ease. It was a wonderful time. We were flourishing, with all the comforts that a city could bring. It was a time of little hardship or conflict. We all thought it would stay like that. It didn’t. To celebrate the great help that these two brothers gave us, we held an annual festival each year to thank them. As well as to see what they had in store for us this time. Makuta and Ekimu both presented that which they had created. Although both created marvellous things, Ekimu’s always shone brighter in the eyes of the people. Eventually, a seed of jealousy was planted in Makuta’s heart. Instead of letting that seed spoil, he allowed it to grow. He allowed it to grow to a point to where he dabbled in things that could not be understood.Makuta allowed himself to become corrupted, and in turn hurt those that he wished to acknowledge him. In secret, Makuta had created the Mask of Ultimate Power. A mask with so much power, that it enlarged his faults even further, and led him to do things which we thought he would never do. Dark things to make us fear and worship him. Thankfully, Ekimu’s quick thinking kept the island from being destroyed, but his decision came at a price. Ekimu fell into a deep sleep, and we were forced to leave the great city which we had built due to the destruction that happened. Despite that sadness, we were eventually able to regain our lives. We had peace for a long time. Jealousy and greed bubbled up again to the surface. Our villages were attacked by creatures under Makuta’s control. We could do little to protect ourselves. We realized this and called upon an ancient prophecy about six heroes and protectors to help us in these dark times. We still had hope. The barrage of attacks kept on coming, and we were scared, but these heroes came and are doing all in their power to protect us, and give us comfort in this time. We are thankful, and we will support them in any way we can.
