Interesting choices. IC: Nicole stood, still somewhat shocked by the confrontation. It took a moment before she could fully compose herself, walking over towards the wall and leaning against it. For a few brief moments she thought about what Wulf had said. Being on the defensive was already bad enough, between the mounting casualties, the occasional near miss of some stray projectile or bomb, the uncertainty of when the Mantis would finally reach them, watching her lover die on her own operating table. She could not begin to imagine the experience of diving headlong into the Mantis army itself. It was then that she heard voices coming from nearby. She turned toward the open door of the kitchen, and heard one phrase that caught her attention; "The crazy doctor who yelled at Ashley is still on the ship..." It took a moment before Nicole could fully accept that the person was talking about her. Nervously, she walked toward the open door of the kitchen and leaned on the doorframe, finding Estelle, Can, and to her surprise, the slug who had brought Ashley in earlier. "Is that all I am to you?" Nicole asked, trying to stay calm. "Just some crazy doctor, huh?" To say she felt hurt was an understatement. Nicole barely knew any of these people and already they were saying these things behind her back.

And I don't go acting like this. So until you stop acting like a crazy doctor, that's all you'll be to us."

Thenshe remembered the computer's words, and felt unsure. She started to cry.

Glancing around the room, she raised the cup at Souper. "Souper, put on my tea please, easy on the whiskey, need to think straight for the night." She noticed the two women standing off against each other, raising an eyebrow. "Major, doctor, good to see you're here, I need to discuss some things with you two. Daniels will be here soon, I had the computer buzz him. I would have done this in my office but I feel that these sort of events are best handled in the public eye, so that my crew can voice their opinions. He went to put the bottle in the mess hall recycling, but dropped it. "Oh..." He looked at the other people in the rokm, then the bottle at the floor (which hadn't shattered for some reason), picked it up, and continued walking.

"No," The Major answered Deuce, giving him an exasperated look as he stood and moved for the door. "Not even close. You were ordered to leave her quarters, and you will. Or else." Answer delivered, the Weapons Officer strode out the door, sighing quietly. His colleague had left before he could say anything else, and he was fairly sure that actually getting to talk to her would be rather difficult now. All because the blasted hired pilot barged in at an inopportune time. He opened his mouth to address Dave, he'd need the computer if he was going to succeed with his current plan of action, but was cut off when the same entity notified him that he was wanted in the mess hall to deal with the matter of Dr. Sarany. Daniels wasn't surprise; He'd suspected there would be a transfer order soon. Nevertheless, he acknowledged the summons and reversed direction quickly, headed for the mess hall. Taking up a position near Ojeda, he took a look at those present, gaze lingering for a moment on the other Major, before looking to Nicole. "Present, Colonel." Shaking his head once more, Deuce walked out of Estelle's bunk, to find a more accessible terminal. No one should complain if I use the one in my bunk. Right? Keeping this in mind, Deuce walked down the hall. Hoping that he might finally get a break, from all the ridiculous annoyances on this ship. That said, Deuce's optimistic outlook on entering his bunk, faded the moment he opened the door. His room was always crowded, with folks who also seemed to be having a moment of some sort. Less than a second after opening the door, Deuce closed it. A small sigh escaped his lips as he noticed the sheer absurdity of his situation. Seriously, why me. Know what, screw it. There was pressure on her mind to ensure she said what she did in a manner that would satisfy the Colonel. "To be honest," she said. "I'm not really sure what to say. She thought for a moment. Only one idea appeared in her mind; just to ensure they understood all the facts. "I already told the computer anyway," she thought to herself." With all the secrecy going on the least she could do was to be open about something. She took a deep breath. She reached into her collar and pulled out the locket, taking it off her neck and opening it. "It's not much of a defense," she said. "But I'm thinking that before any decisions are to be made you're at least entitled to know what happened. You can validate all this on the computer, it's got records of everything, he even conducted a therapeutic section with me earlier. There's also a witness aboard the Brasillia, Private Talvert. He was also there.." She placed the open locket gently on the table, ensuring that . "She was a soldier. Her name was Irina Narys. We were stationed in the army together and we became great friends. It started as a simple friendship but it grew into something... much more than that, you know. It was love, we were in love. We managed to keep it from affecting our performances so our commanding officer never made a huge deal out of an enlisted woman and an officer sleeping together. Then we were stationed on Gaia, I presume you already know about what happened there. She gave me that locket shortly before the Mantis reached us and then she was sent out." Nicole paused a moment. Any other time she might have broken into tears explaining what happened, but here she tried to fight them. "There I was, wounded were coming in by the hundreds. Orderlies were scrambling to get them organized and ready for surgery. Then suddenly I see her. Irina was brought in, I was operating on her with another doctor. We couldn't stop the bleeding. She died right in front of me. I did everything I could but I couldn't save her." Nicole had to take a moment to compose herself. "That's when I snapped. That's why I was in therapy to begin with." She quickly became silent, trying to stay calm. She did not know what response she was going to get, but she did feel a sense of relief, having finally gotten her story out in front of multiple witnesses.

Sadly, that's not a very good defense, nor is it helping your case as to why I shouldn't punt you back to therapy and hope you can deal with your demons there." The Colonel kept her eyebrow raised. "I want to know if I can trust you not to assault my crew, I want to know if my crew can trust you. I want to know the reasons I give for letting someone unstable stay aboard the ship. Your medical skills would be appreciated, but I can hardly have my doctor having breakdowns, especially if the crew is uncomfortable. I want a defense, doctor, a promise and an agreement, not you telling me you've got PTSD because you died with your lover in your hands. Everyone here has lost someone; some more personal than others. I saw too many friends die on the frontier, some of them more intimate than others. Major Walker saw her finance die. "I won't deny that I've let Ashley down on multiple occasions, and the only reason I can give for what I did to her is hardly a valid one: I'm not sure if you heard the report about her having a man in her head, some sort of secret government agent or something. The slugs can apparently verify his existence, but I understand right now that's not going to do me much good." "If it is any consolation I have been trying to stay calm since that incident. The computer even tried to give me some therapeutic assistance. As you say I am a doctor, although I'm not sure what good is a doctor who can't walk into an emergency room." One thought suddenly entered her mind as to how such a thing could work. "Maybe if I worked more as a paramedic. If there's a problem and someone is injured I can at least be there to make stabilize the patient and make sure they get to the medbay safely." She stopped herself there, thinking that they would probably dismiss the idea as silly. OOC: Darn it, I'm not really sure how to write a defense in this context.

Well, it was easy enough to make, it would take plenty of time, however, to do so. Moving aside, having let Estelle deal with Stinker, or whatever the foul minded human's name was, given the almost negative feedback the slug got whenever they heard even a bit of their thoughts, the slug went over to the tea, and got the Colonel's Special Whiskey. It was a rare kind, as far as the slug would know, and it was very delicate when put into tea. A light amount would be all that was needed, and paired with the right tea, it would simply enhance the flavor. While the whole argument was taking place, between the officers and Nicole, the nurse, the slug waited for some sort of moment where someone who could at the very least do a brain talk with her could be brought forward. She was not stable at all by the slug's reckoning, but a closer inspection might reveal a lot different. Getting the green tea properly prepared took most of the conversation, as putting the whiskey in drop by drop occasionally made sure that it was properly infused. After the few minutes were up, Souper slid the cup on a platter through to the window by the Colonel, with a small thing of an orange in case she feels like numbing the taste away afterwards. Ringing the bell next to the window between the two rooms, the Slug backed away, waiting for the drink to be taken by the proper customer.

"Colonel, I don't think the question here should be whether to transfer the doctor off of the Kestrel." He began. "I'm not sure how much you heard, but thankfully I recorded the entire incident between the doctor and Walker. I can play it back if you like, but to summarize, the doctor appears to believe that the proper course of action in response to verbal criticism from a superior officer is a shouting match. I'm not sure how we run things in the Fleet, but in the Planetary Forces that incident would have been grounds for a dishonorable discharge. Clearly, the doctor's psychological ability to perform her duties, much less practice medicine, ought to be called into question. If the incident she speaks of occurred on the operating table, she could easily relapse into an episode. I believe that this doctor is unfit to remain in the armed forces and unfit to practice medicine. She is a danger to the Kestrel's mission and to everyone aboard, and, in a broader sense, to everyone in the armed forces. I recommend a suspension from duty and terrestrial grounding pending a psychological discharge."
