Shark had Faithful handy to knock aside the blow even as his own knocked Caoutchouc's weapon aside from him. The shock sent down his arm stung his wound, but it was worth it to avoid being impaled. Looked like Silver was still dealing with Kat, so Shark moved forward after the disarmed Caoutchouc and swung his unnamed sword back towards his legs, hoping to topple him. * * *IC: Jayar Jayar sighed, almost grimacing as he continued, "Because kindness is how she gains, retains followers to do his bidding... You take care of a tool so it will function at peak efficiency, but you don't truly care about it. That's... That's how I think Phogen sees people." Hoto didn't see it that way. He couldn't bring her to, he knew it... Even if he should inspire doubt in her, they would surely encounter Phogen once more, and all the doubt would be erased with a few words carefully calculated to reassure her. And then, to prevent any further doubt - a few choice words to discredit Jayar? Assuming his views were accurate - was fighting for them even worth it, when it would put him at odds with Phogen, Phogen's servants... Hoto. How could he oppose Hoto? "But... maybe I'm wrong. I hope that I am..." he added on, a haphazard concession to her positive view of the Derahk, a demonstration of his mounting inner turmoil. But if he stopped fighting for what he believed in, he'd be at odds with himself. Quote
