[Black Six]

It's a new year and I've decided to do something new with our Twitch Tuesday streams insofar as they pertain to the forums. Instead of making a new topic each week for people to vote in, there will be one topic with a poll that will be reset weekly for people to vote in. This topic will also compile all of our past streams into one place for easy viewing.

 

What is Twitch Tuesday? For the unfamiliar, Twitch Tuesday is a (usually) weekly activity where BZPower picks a LEGO videogame and then plays it live on our Twitch channel. Members of the site (and anyone else) can watch and talk in the chat, asking questions, giving tips, or telling me how bad I am at these games. It's a lot of fun, and if you like LEGO videogames it's worth a watch!

 

How do I watch Twitch Tuesday? You can watch on our Twitch channel! Streams are every Tuesday and start at around 7:30 PM Eastern Time and run for about an hour. If there's any change to this, I'll post it in this topic and on the front page.

I know, you do your gaming on Xbox, not on Steam, but I'm pretty sure the game mechanics work the same among most gaming platforms anyway, so I doubt it'll be an much of an issue for you. (Of course, this list covers all of the Lego games available on Steam, so Lego Dimensions is not on that list, but considering that you've practically given up on that game, I don't think that'll be much of a problem.)

(I guess I'll have to wait until I can eventually play this game myself to find out what I missed.) At least things improved once you moved on to Episode 4.

It's really very confusing. I'm the only person in the house actively using the Internet connection, and I don't change any settings from week to week. Yet one week it'll be perfect the whole time and another I have problems like this. If anyone has any advice or tips or ideas for an alternative setup, I'm all ears!

Looks like this week's stream went smoothly, so that's good. Though I'll admit that I was caught quite off-guard to find out that you had streamed some Lego Dimensions the previous day. Thankfully, the Twitch channel seems to automatically save the most recent videos, so I was able to watch you play through that "Back to the Future" bonus level. Since everything on that game now seems to be working just fine, does this mean Dimensions will soon become an option on this poll? I'm afraid I've already cast my vote for next week, but if Dimensions were to be added to this poll for the following weeks, then that would definitely be my vote.

Aside from a faulty start, this week's stream went fine, and now Episode 4 of Star Wars is finished. Just Episodes 5 and 6 left to go before story mode on that game is completed.

In other news, what other TT Games LEGO titles would you like to see us play that aren't options in the poll currently?

Personally, I'd like to see Bionicle get some love, though the only streamable games are on PC. You could probably get OBS or something similar and do like MNOG, MNOG 2, or Katuko's Bionicle Fighter: Broken Virtues.

As far as I can recall, the only Bionicle game that was ever available on Xbox (in addition to other gaming systems) was Bionicle Heroes back in 2006. With the way Twitch Tuesdays are currently set up, that would the only option for Bionicle games (assuming, of course, that B6 even has a copy of that game). As for what other games I'd like to see, I've already expressed my interest in seeing Lego Dimensions again. Other than that, I can't really think of anything else.

 

Yesterday's stream went well, seeing you go through the first half of Episode V, which means we're now three quarters of the way through the story mode of the entire game. Kinda interesting that each of the previous Episodes had only one vehicle level, while Episode V has two. Also, I agree with what someone had mentioned in the chat; there will almost certainly be a new Lego Star Wars video game once the next two movies (Episodes VIII and IX) come out. The last Lego Star Wars game we had was Clone Wars back in 2011 (the final year in which Lego video games did not have any dialogue), so you're right that whenever the next Lego Star Wars game comes out it will be the very first one to have the characters actually speak.

 

Seeing as we're now getting close to finishing story mode on Lego Star Wars, I've now decided to start voting for that game each week. (At the current rate of progress, it should take only three or four more Tuesdays.) Once that's completed, then I'll resume voting for freeplay mode of the Lego Movie Videogame.

Episode 10 of Star Wars is up! We're almost done with Empire Strikes Back! Hopefully Return of the Jedi doesn't have so many places to fall off of.

 

While we're talking, what are people's thoughts on us streaming non-LEGO games? Should we stick to just LEGO stuff, or branch out into the wider world of gaming?

I think we should stick to Lego games, at least for the BZPower Twitch Channel. After all, this site is intended for the discussion of Bionicle and other Lego themes, so it only makes sense that the affiliated twitch channel should have the same general focus. If it's possible to set up a second twitch channel for other games, I would not be against that, but I would still be interested in watching only Lego games on the BZPower Twitch Channel.

 

Another good stream this week. I especially liked how, due to no dialogue in this game, Darth Vader couldn't say "I am your father," and instead had to show Luke a family photo. Certainly looking forward to seeing the final level of Episode V and then on to Episode VI.

 

EDIT: Kinda interesting that just last week I had mentioned the possibility of a future Lego Star Wars game to follow the new trilogy, and then this week we find out that there will in fact be one, focusing on Episode VII. I likely won't get this game as soon as it comes out (I've still got a lot of other Lego games I haven't tried yet), but it's definitely something I'll look forward to playing eventually.

This is basically my answer for the question of if there should be non-Lego games streamed. I wouldn't be against it if one was done though.

It seems there are two ways to struggle to advance through these games: falling off of ledges, or not figuring out what needs to be done next. This week's stream certainly had a bit of the latter. Hopefully, at least one of the remaining five levels will go by much more easily so that the story mode can be finished in just two weeks.

 

My vote still goes to Star Wars, since we're now getting very close to finishing it. However, I've noticed some people are voting for Lego Movie freeplay, which I will resume voting for once Star Wars is finished. I guess I'm not the only one interested in seeing you reach 100% completion with that game.

Only three levels left to go until story mode for Star Wars is finished. Hopefully, it'll take just one more week, but seeing how much time was spent on just two levels this week has slightly reduced my confidence. Either way, I'm assuming that, once story mode is over, you'll still keep Star Wars available as an option for freeplay mode, like with Lego Movie, right?

 

I feel like I should remind you that, near the beginning of this topic, I had provided a link to complete guides for nearly every Lego video game. Since I've not yet played any Lego game (besides Lego Movie), that link is pretty much the only way I can help out (since I can't participate in the chat on Twitch). It would certainly be a good idea to keep that link handy rather than just hope that somebody in the chat could offer a suggestion.

 

My vote this week goes to Star Wars again, and if all goes well, it will also be the last time I vote for that before switching back to freeplay mode for Lego Movie.

The first level took so long that I actually thought for a moment that this week's stream would consist only of that, but good thing the other level went by much more quickly. It's nice to see that you've unlocked Darth Vader, so now you can use those dark force objects once you get to freeplay mode (which I'm assuming you'll allow, like with Lego Move Videogame).

Yeah, and I thought I did pretty well on the first level too, with relatively little dying. It was just a loooong level.

Good thing you did this week's stream an hour later than usual, because when I momentarily forgot about that detail and went to the Twitch channel at the usual time, I found out that you had once again streamed a bit of Lego Dimensions the previous day, so I spent the next hour watching the recording of that. First it was that Back to the Future level pack, now it's the Simpsons level pack. I wonder if you plan on eventually reviewing all of the level packs like this. Also, I don't know about you, but that game now seems pretty stable to me, and I'm still very interested in seeing Dimensions being added to the poll at some point.

 

Anyway, it was nice to see you play through all of Lego Star Wars Complete Saga. I don't know when I'll get around to playing the copy I have on my Steam account, but at least it's nice that I was able to get a good idea of what to expect when I eventually do play it.

 

Well, as I've been saying over the last few weeks, now that Star Wars is done (on story mode at least), I'm now voting for Lego Movie Videogame freeplay. If it ends up being selected next week, don't forget about those guides I PMed to you, B6. (Although considering your performance throughout Star Wars, I would recommend purchasing the "invincibility" red brick when you unlock it. Not only does it prevent you from getting hurt, but it also prevents you from losing any studs if you happen to fall off a ledge.)

Some other red bricks in that game I would recommend purchasing would be the three locator bricks (red brick, gold page, and pants) and perhaps the "studs x2" to help you reach "The Special" on each level (even though I've been capable of easily doing that without needing even the smallest stud multiplier, I figured you might want a little extra assistance), and maybe even the "attract studs" that allows you to pick up studs within a small area of your character without having to run over to collect them. Many of the others don't really do much, in my opinion, but purchasing them do still contribute to 100% completion, so it's probably best to save them for later when you've got tons of studs to spend.
