Why does the rule against topic revivals still exist?

This rule made sense in BZP's heyday, but now that the forum is generally much quieter, I'd have thought that any activity would be welcomed regardless of topic revivals.

 

At the very least, why not increase the day limits so topics can have more time before they're declared dead?

Last month, I believe... I feel like I'm betraying my fellow villagers at this point, so stopped reporting it due to the vagueness. 🙈

Not to point any fingers, but I seem to notice that only one staff member in particular ever seems to bother with enforcing the topic revival rule, so perhaps it might not be difficult to convince the rest of the staff that this forum these days could be better off without that old rule.
