IC:Mystic's earpiece beeped again, and she paused to listen."We have a pilot who can fly us over the Statue. We have reports from the SWAT teams that our target has moved into the upper levels, no doubt to set his explosives," she said. "A League jet should be able to maintain vertical thrust long enough to hover over the top of the statue itself, allowing us to disembark directly on the observation deck, closer to our target. Let's move, people."[For Science!]

IC: Skyra"Hey, don't forget about me." Skyra said, catching up to them, he had decided to take the dumb sling on his arm off. His arm still hurt alot but he decided to worry about that later."You know, I can always use my powers to get us up there, though the jet works too, if we need to I can let us jump off the plane from a considerable distance safely. It might be quicker." Skyra said this with a lot of confidence.

IC: Plasmafire whistled through his teeth. "Geez, that's risky... I can't help but wonder if she built her spire there delibrately. Well... Anything's better than the current plan, right? Which is wait here until we die..."IC: Negafire, following Hivemind's lead, sat down stiffly in a chair. He was super nervous, and a bullet in his shoulder and broken wrist didn't help. Plus, he couldn't help but thing about the saying "Don't shoot the messenger"... He had a feeling if this went south nobody would ever find more than a few stray atoms of this particular messenger...

IC:Personally, Mystic preferred the relative safety of a jet compared to being lifted skyward by nothing but air. At the very least, she could feel something solid beneath her feet."If you think you can get get us from the plane to the statue safer, I welcome it," she said as she ascended the ramp. "This is already a risky situation; anything to put the odds in our favor would be helpful."---"Well... by this point, I'm almost willing to do anything if it means taking Frigid out of power," said X-Calibur. "But... I'm not sure I can take the risk... should we fail, I'll have sent all my people charging into the lion's den for nothing..."Fade suddenly looked up."Wait, hold on!" he exclaimed. "You don't have to do that!""I... ...don't?""Yeah! Fade nodded. "There's a second Supercharger! Sorry, should have mentioned that. There's an abandoned house out in Newburgh where my father kept a laboratory. Down there's a prototype Supercharger; might not work as well as the other one, but it should still work, which is the important thing. I destroyed it over on our side, but the lab should be undisturbed here. If you can get a team together to make the trip, we might be able to make this work."[For Science!]

IC:"Good then," Mystic said as they made their way aboard the jet, the engines humming to life as they started up. "Then we'd best get going. We can't afford to lose any more time."---"I'd kinda assumed you'd be coming along," said Fade. "You'd probably put the biggest dent in whatever Frigid might try to throw at us."X-Calibur stood in contemplation, looking reluctant at the thought of this plan."There's just one problem I can think of," he said. "If you know about this lab, shouldn't our Fade know about it as well? For all we know, Frigid could be keeping it as secure as the other Supercharger.""No, that's the beauty of it! Things went differently in this universe; we stopped Frigid from getting the Logan Supercharger on my side. She had someone on her side who could figure out how to build the thing just by touching it, but that's beside the point," Fade explained. "We thought the Supercharger was safe, so we had more time to explore our options. That's why I went to the house, why I found the lab. But on your side, everyone was scrambling to find Frigid, there was no time to investigate something like this. Your Frigid probably has no idea about the house... well, I mean, he knows about it, he used to live there. But he probably doesn't know his dad built weapons for supervillains there, and he definitely doesn't know there's a Supercharger in the basement."[For Science!]

IC: Skyra"Right." Skyra nodded. Skyra sat down in the first seat he could find. "Time to stop a bomb."Edit: Bleh, never mind with below. OOC: Okay, I've made an NPC to design my 'costume' or whatever, here goes. I'm assume the League has regular 'normal' people working for them yes? Like technicians, janitors, maintenance, etc.NPC: Jordan Whiteman (Mechanical engineer working at Mansion, League HQ, whatever you want to call it.)Somewhere under the Mansion, an engineer was busy at work, he was one engineer of many, working hard to develop the latest tech for the League. Jordan was rather a bit of an odd ball compared with the rest of the engineers however, kind of did things his own way, it was off shift, and he was working on a little side project besides what he was required to do.Except it wasn't quite so...'little'. Jordan had been tinkering for months now on an old prototype design for a flight-suit, a powered armor. It had been abandoned because the physics and mathematics were just so complex that they'd all but given up. Not Jordan though, they all laughed at him, but he was determined to get this thing to work."I'm so close, I know it." He said to himself as he played with the advanced wiring inside the suit. "Just a matter of adjusting the stabilizers and re-configuring the flight matrix.""There, done." He put the pieces back together and stood back, then he pushed a button on the remote. The suit began to power-up. The suit itself was currently a plain gun-metal gray. It looked rather light-weight, as it was designed to be an armored jet-pack. Instead of a helmet some sort of advanced visor/goggles were where the head would be. The suit was currently plugged into a wall through a bunch of wires, as it currently had no way of powering itself."Hmm, so far so good. I think I might of actually done it." He smiled, then quickly frowned when a snag appeared on the computer screen. "What..." He quickly read the diagnosis. "No, no, this isn't right, it should be working, it should..."Then it hit him. "Of course! The suit needs a super with a particular omega signature to power it." He sighed, the chances of there being even one person in the league that matched the correct signature to power the suit wasn't exactly high."Well, here's hoping." He began to cross reference registered heroes in the league. After a few minutes, the machine had nearly completed its cross reference, still no matches. Jordan sighed, "I guess it's back to the drawing-" DING! The computer had finished it's search, one match. "Woah. A match." He clicked 'show results'. One name appeared. "Skyra."

OOC: Snelly, I think that suit might count as an Equipment Upgrade since it sports armour and a jetpack, things your character doesn't have yet. In which case you'd have to earn said upgrade before you'd be allowed to use it. I'd PM TPTI and ask him about it if I were you. Also @Shadows, you missed an IC of mine directed at Fellwyd here.IC: Grand Cross considered Negafire's words for a moment. "I see. I had partly expected the location of the safehouse to be compromised, but I trust the abandonment of Aquarius was a necessary one - he is a valued genetic scientist of ours, after all. I will be examining the unbiased media footage of the event to evaluate your performances." He looked pointedly at the few of the villains as he said this. "But you managed to obtain Danielle Thomas so the mission is overall a success. Typhoon, you are dismissed. Negafire, go and patch up that shoulder. Gap, Nihilo, wait outside. Hivemind, remain with me for a moment."The villains did as instructed. Gap closed the door behind her as she and Nihilo stood outside the briefing room. She wasn't sure how to feel; she'd performed her first mission with other members of the Coalition exactly as instructed, yet her role had been a rather small one. Perhaps her father would comment on her performance after he had studied the footage of the event. A pang of doubt suddenly filled her - she hoped that there had not been a point in which it would have been better for her to aid the other villains rather than waiting in the safehouse.Inside the briefing room, Grand Cross waited until the door was shut tight before speaking to Hivemind. "So. What can you tell me about Nihilo?"IC: Gadgeteer grabbed the villain's gauntleted arm firmly with one hand. With the other he grabbed the fingers of the gauntlet and pulled...OOC: Up to you if it comes off or not, ToA.

IC: Gadgeteer, with his firm grip on the villain's gauntleted arm, yanked him to the ground. This of course sent the barrel of the Uzi swerving upwards and away from the pretend-hero's face, with only a few bullets having (noisily) impacted. Keeping his left hand upon the villain's gauntleted arm, Gadgeteer quickly moved on top of him and grabbed for his other wrist. The villain could talk, which meant he must draw in air like a normal person. Did he depend on it? Gadgeteer was hoping to find out as he pressed his formidable bulk down onto the villain's chest...OOC: Hopefully there aren't any civilians around, from a bystander's point of view this manoeuvre doesn't exactly look kid-friendly. :P

IC (Nihilo): Nihilo did as ordered, stepping outside the room and waiting. However, he wasn't about to let Hivemind go unchecked. He slipped a tiny tendril of antimatter under the door and hid it in some shadows, so that he could hear what was going on.

IC:"Well, I guess I'd better round up the usual suspects," said X-Calibur. "I'll meet up with you guys when I've got a team ready."As he left, Fade turned to Plasmafire."In the meantime, we've got another problem. I haven't been able to use my powers since we got here," he said. "Before we fell through the portal, I got hit by an energy discharge while I was phased. I think... somehow, that scrambled my powers. The bottom line is, if we're in danger I won't be able to phase us out of it."---The engines of the jet roared to life, and soon they were off over the city. Even traveling at low speeds to avoid blowing out windows across New York, they were at the harbor in less than a minute. The jet climbed up into the air over the bay, the Statue of Liberty rapidly growing larger in their windows. The jet circled the statue once, slowly down as it turned, and the pilot brought the jet to hover just a short distance from the observation deck. The ramp lowered. and Mystic cautiously took a few steps outwards. With a raise of her arm, several of the windows on the observation deck forced themselves open."Alright... someone is going to have go ahead of me!" she shouted over the roar of wind. "I won't be able to see where I'm jumping otherwise!"---"Wellll..." Hivemind said enthusiastically, loud enough that she was certain anyone listening by the door would hear, before dropping her voice low enough that her words would not escape this room."You can look at it two ways, really. On the one hand, he pulled off a few stunts that helped land young Miss Thomas into our hands. I'm not saying we couldn't have done it without him, but it would definitely have been more difficult," she said. "On the other hand, all of those stunts were ludicrously insane, and more than a few of them risked killing the very target they were intended to help retrieve, which I seem to recall you said was a big no-no. Plus, he's appears to have an irrational fear of insects; I have no idea why."Now, I would call him dumber than a sack of rocks, but that would be cruel to both rocks and sacks. However, if I might speak freely sir, a lack of intellect has never exactly barred anyone from entry into the Coalition," continued Hivemind. "I mean, obviously folks such as myself prove it's a plus, but it's not like it's a requirement. If you're worried about him screwing up a vital mission - and honestly, I don't blame you - you don't have to send him on those missions. I imagine there's plenty of missions with less vital outcomes he could be useful on. Personally, I hate the guy... like, a lot, but I'm not gonna deny the Coalition probably couldn't find a use for him. Heck, we found a use for Zap..."Hivemind was about to turn and leave, when she suddenly spun around to face Grand Cross again."...Buuuut, if I could just make just one suggestion... no matter what you decide about Nihilo, at least pretend like you're not gonna take him at first. You know, psyche him out a bit," she said. "Come on, even you've gotta admit that'd be pretty funny..."[For Science!]

OOC: I continue to blame timezones for all my misfortunes in life, especially this. Can we assume Ultionis was on the jet? He's not the type to let anyone blow up the Statue of Liberty, and there's not much else to do besides try and get the truth out of Aquarius... Not sure I wanna know how.NPC: Dylan nodded shakily, getting up. "Y-yeah... drink." He took a swig of the proffered substance and tried not to look at Surge. OOC: Yeah, sorry if it seems like I'm being a killjoy, but it's better to nip potential problems in the bud.IC: Grand Cross didn't appreciate Hivemind giving him her opinion on how Nihilo might be of use to the Coalition, mainly because it would seem like her advice had actually had some influence on his own decision. Who was she to tell him how to run this organisation?! His expression remained rigid as he listened to her report, though, so his displeasure remained secret."Tell my daughter that she is to escort Nihilo to the laboratory," he said to Hivemind. "I will arrange for his details to be added to our database once he has arrived there. Once you deliver the message you will be free to go." He'd left it ambiguous as to how Hivemind could deliver that information, since she seemed to be in the mood for trickery. From past experience Grand Cross had learnt if a certain member of the Coalition was prone to mischief it was far better to let them enact it - when denied minor pleasures over a long period of time villains might, and had in the past, break away from the Coalition and decide to go solo. And then the Coalition would be forced to hunt said villain down and kill them, which was a sad waste of talent in Grand Cross' eyes...

OOC: @Kumata, S'okay. These characters have had so many different versions in so many different games, it's hard to remember what limitations I put on which version where.IC: (Surge): "Easy bud. Somebody rough you up? You'll be fine now. You got Tommy Smit on your side." Surge was trying to build confidence in the boy so that he would talk, and it wasn't a complete lie. OOC: Yup, you can just say Ultonis was on the plan, although he probably won't be allowed to take his giant bike with him into the Statue... :PIC:"Yes, sir!" Hivemind replied with a salute she could always claim wasn't mocking. She spun on her heels and marched towards the exit, letting the doors swing wide as she passed, and headed to where Nihilo and Gap had been waiting. She'd picked up on the fact that Grand Cross had seen fit to give her, as one might say, ample space to "creatively" word his message. Now, Hivemind always enjoyed messing with the other Coalition lackeys she was forced to deal with, but the fact Grand Cross was essentially allowing her to do this did more than enough to suck the enjoyment out of it. She did what she did precisely because she wasn't allowed, just to see what she could get away with. Where was the fun if they just let her do stuff like this? But on the other hand, her dislike of Nihilo won out over her dislike of authority. She'd just call this one a freebie and forget about it."Hey, dude!" Hivemind shouted with a wave to Gap. "Uh... the Big G said you were supposed to take Nihilo over her to some kinda... uh... laboratory, I think. Yeah, that's what he said. 'Escort' was his exact wording, I believe. Don't ask me about it, I barely even know the layout of this freaking place..."[For Science!]

IC(Fellwyd): "For the time being, departure from this planet would be impossible - the location of this planet is unknown to my people, and no record of the route taken by my escape pod exists. The League you mentioned seems the best branch to take."IC(Mr. No-One): Making a quick hand-signal to show that he was volunteering to go in first, the spy jumped from the ramp, very nearly banging his head on the frame of one of the observation deck windows before making it inside. Taking a quick look inside and seeing no obvious sign of either bombs or madmen in the immediate vicinity, he looked back to the jet and waited for the others.

NPC: Dylan flinched. "I-I-I don't know you and I don't want to!" Apparently this was going to take a subtler approach... or excessive force, but the detectives' office might frown on that one.NPC: Ultionis had mixed feelings about this little side-trek. On the one hand, every moment they wasted Danielle Thomas was getting further and further away. On the other hand, blowing up the Statue of Liberty? Not on his watch. So he'd strapped an assault rifle (with underslung grenade launcher) across his back and readied his pistols, and was now kneeling on the edge of the League jet's floor, about to jump down to yet another crazed supervillain plot. Joy. Well, at least he'd get a chance to see how his new companions fared on a mission. He was not expecting operational discipline.H-D

IC:With eyes watching both sides of the jump, Mystic felt confident she could make it next. Using Mr. No-One's view of the jet as a guide, she took a few steps back, and made a running leap over the gap. For a few maddeningly tense seconds all Mystic could hear or feel was the rush of wind around her... then her arms clasped around the metal edges of the window frame, a metallic clang resounding as she hit the side. Mystic scrambled up the side, dragging herself up the side and through the open window. Nearly crashing to the floor, Mystic grasped the nearest wall firmly as she pulled herself back up to her feet, trying to catch her breath as she waited for her heart to stop racing,[For Science!]

NPC: Ultionis was next. He had been preparing to leap through the window this whole time, and knew the trajectory. This wasn't his first time going into the Statue of Liberty to take down a superpowered terrorist. As soon as Mystic was clear, he lunged directly forward with practiced speed and precision, moving swiftly and silently through the window to roll to a halt by the opposite wall. He may not had Mystic's telekinetic abilities (which for some reason she didn't seem to use to get here) but he had years of ceaseless physical and mental training. Usually almost as good. IC: Gap looked from Hivemind to Nihilo. Take him to the laboratory for what? Examination? Dissection? Or whatever the antimatter equivalent was. Nihilo didn't seem to know either, judging by his expression. Gap looked back at Hivemind, the uncertainty as to whether she was being made fun of creeping into her mind again. But she kept her face neutral. She wasn't about to go back into the briefing room and double-check with her father that he'd really relayed that request; that would just make her look silly. (Maybe that was what Hivemind wanted? Gap was quickly deciding that she didn't like this lady.)"Understood," said Gap with a curt nod to Hivemind. She then turned back to Nihilo. "Follow me. The laboratory isn't far." She hoped that he wasn't going to be difficult - she couldn't exactly intimidate him into compliance, given that she had no means to harm him at her disposal.IC: "Well, in order to do that I'll need to head home quickly," said Sarah. IC(Fellwyd): The sudden appearance of the holographic woman surprised the alien, given that he'd had no prior indication that humanity had this sort of technology. Given the situation, there was really only one appropriate response."What? No, sorry, what!?"

He then turned and followed Gap, thankful that his smug expression was hidden by his hood.

IC: SkyraSkyra had kept everyone from falling too fast as they jumped out of the plane. He could have made the fall for everyone a bit slower, but what was the fun in that? Besides, they were in a hurry right? Perfect excuse. Hopeful Mystic hadn't read his thoughts just now, she'd probably yell at him. Skyra shrugged to himself, and jumped off the plane. "Tallyho!" He waited till the last possible second to use his powers to stop himself from landing way too fast. When he was but 1 foot of the ground, he slowed to a crawl, landing gracefully. "Well, were all here. Everyone have all their limbs still intact? Perfect."

OOC: Shadows, you missed an opportunity to do the tenth Doctor's "What. What? What?!" :PIC: "Um, that's, um, Esp, she's..." Sarah trailed off. It was tricky enough to explain common Earth practices to Fellwyd; the spaceship guardian of her deceased best friend was a bit of a step up. Then again, Fellwyd was an alien himself. This sort of thing might be easier to explain."First things first: is this creature trustworthy?" Interrupted the holographic woman, jerking a thumb towards Fellwyd. "I'd been observing your battle from afar, so I assume the two of you are somewhat acquainted. I want to make sure before I invite him on-board though.""Oh, um, well, I suppose... yes, yes he is," nodded Sarah. Though his alien nature might have been cause for suspicion - he could have been another enemy of the Crystaxians - Fellwyd had reacted with surprise to Esp's appearance so it was safe to assume he had no prior knowledge of her, and thus no hidden agenda."Good. I've landed on a bare demolition site over that way," Esp pointed, "I'd rather not waste more power maintaining this avatar any longer than I have to; I'm still allocating a lot of it to repairs." With that the holographic woman dematerialised."Um." Sarah looked sheepishly at Fellwyd. "That was, er, the avatar of a spacecraft that belongs - um, belonged - to my friend. She was asking if we wanted to travel in her. Would you... have any problem with that?"IC: Gap and Nihilo followed the corridor until they reached a set of elevator doors; in it they travelled up (Nihilo carefully repulsing himself to adjust for the ascending lift) until they emerged in another, similar-looking corridor. Gap didn't try to make small talk; she thought it seemed more professional if she remained silent. They came to a door. It was made of metal and very thickly-armoured. There was no handle, just an overhead sensor that triggered its opening as Gap and Nihilo approached. There was a hiss as it slid aside, revealing the laboratory within. It was clearly an enormous room, as evidenced by the wide ceiling and noise of dozens of machines operating at once. But it had apparently been separated into smaller partitions, for a white, stone-like wall confronted the pair almost as soon as they entered, creating only a narrow path to the left and right with occasional gaps to allow access to each area. It actually resembled an enlarged collection of office cubicles. Whether the room had been designed to segregate specific branches of science or just to stop the various villains from irritating each other, Gap wasn't sure. There was a figure waiting for them beside the entrance. At first glance it looked like a blackish-silver man - nude, though with a bare groin, like some sort of human-sized doll."Hello," said the man. There was something extremely uncanny about the way his face moved, and Gap couldn't help recoiling slightly. It was too symmetrical, too perfect... and his skin looked like leather. His gaze jerked towards Gap's companion. "Query: are you Nihilo..?"

While this would've seriously damaged the shoulders of any ordinary human, his indestructible body simply turned his arms, allowing the movement and loosening the hero's grip enough for Achilles to break free.He cracked his neck, and raised his weapon again, loading in a new clip."I'll get through that mask eventually, you know."

OOC: CoKK, I gotta say the altverse storyline is awesome, but I feel that I may have screwed it up by inviting Plasmafire. Cuz in my mind, it seem to make more sense to supercharge him over Stella, simply because of the addition of plasma to his power set. However, I know that's not the plan, so maybe we need a way to work around that so it doesn't occur to the characters? ;)IC: Plasmafire sighed. 'I was wondering why you seemed to be having so much trouble... Heh, this whole thing seems so much like a comic book, I almost wonder what'd happen if we stuck you in the supercharger too, eh?" He sighed at his lame attemt at humor.IC: Magneta straighted up a little so she could look at Surge, and shook her head. He was spooking the kid, this was going to go bad if they weren't careful. She mouthed the words Trust Me to him, and slouched back down, sitting next to Dylan. "Aww, c'mon hun. I'm not lookin' for a commitment either, jus' thinking tonight looks like a good night to hang out and have fun, y'know?"IC: Negafire was out of the room and down the hall before he remembered to breath again. Or blink. Or think, for that matter. He didn't expect to get out of there alive, much less unscathed. He headed straight for the new infirmary, pushing the door open with his uninjured shoulder. "Hello? Can I get some help here before I bleed out?"OOC: Anyone there Negafire could interact with? I don't want him out of the action yet, and he seems to have been sent off alone. :P

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodies? Your grace."

"I know that one. 'Who watches the Watchmen?' Me, Mr. Pessimal."

"Ah, but who watches you, your grace?"

"I do that too. All the time."

NPC: Dylan seemed to relax slightly at Magneta's advances and smiled a bit, resting his hand on the counter... then immediately cried out in pain and pulled the to hand to his chest, cradling it. The barman stared at him. "Yo, Dyl, you should get that looked at. Sounds like it hurts."NPC: Ultionis nodded clutching the assault rifle. "Mystic, you know if there's anyone nearby?"H-D

IC: Magneta gasped a little and held her hand out to Dylan. "Oh no, what happened there? Lemmie see, I'm in nursing school." She was lying, but being an investigative reporter and news anchor, she had developed a few acting skills over the years.

OOC: Ironically Korkoa the only Coalition doctor that's ever been detailed is Aquarius. They would likely have a medical staff, so you could whip up an NPC if you want Negafire healed quickly - but bear in mind that they'd have to have powers. The Coalition doesn't accept ordinary humans. As for Negafire having something to do, I'll help you out only if no-one else can. No offense but I did just run a Coalition plot. :PIC: "Bring it on."It was almost painful for Gadgeteer to say those words - he was a humourless man, and hated that kind of cocksure attitude many American heroes displayed. Which was why he had to say it, in order to distance his alias from who he truly was.Taking a leaf out of the villain's book Gadgeteer also jumped backwards. The difference being that he was able to use the pistons in his legs to jump far further, far enough so that he landed beside a parked car. He punched through a window and, with some difficulty, managed to yank its door off. He now had a shield. While his armoured battle suit was basically bulletproof, the villain had had a point; his faceplate had weakened somewhat from the damage it had taken thus far. So Gadgeteer had decided to procure a shield of sorts. Hence the car door. He held it in front of himself like a riot shield, as he glanced around for other objects he could utilise.IC: The blackish-silver man walked, and Gap and Nihilo followed. They continued past several partitions of the lab, getting glimpses of engineers at work, bubbling vats of chemicals, and even some kind of sagely figure surrounded in mystic tomes. When they came to a partition containing very sleek, futuristic-looking equipment their guide indicated that they should go on in."You're Nihilo, then?" The speaker was a bald Indian man, slightly hunched, with a large silver beard. He was dressed in typical laboratory wear; long white coat, protective gloves and goggles. He appeared from behind a table full of half-built technological trinkets and approached the pair. "Grand Cross just messaged me about you. I'd offer to shake your hand, but apparently you're composed entirely of antimatter? Hm! Most interesting. Please step, er, direct yourself into the field of the full-body scanner, and we can begin."The machine that the Indian scientist indicated looked like a large glass booth, with circuit-covered pillars at each corner. The door leading inside it was open and waiting...

NPC: "'S nothin'-" He cried out again when he held it too tight, and seemed to relent, extending the injured hand gingerly. If she actually did know anything about medicine, it would be clear this hand is broken. They really shouldn't bend that way...H-D
