IC: Firen

The Toa of Data remained silent for several long moments. Finally, with a loud sigh, he reached into his coat and withdrew a small flask, pulling off of the top. He paused a moment at the look he was given. "What? Technically, my shift ended hours ago."

After a sip, he put it back. "In the interests of honesty, you were already a potential suspect. It was only logical to assume that the person who used the vehicle also built it, and you're one of only a few people in this area who could have built one like that. I was here just as much to assess whether or not I believed it was you as I was for information."

Almost absently, he steepled his fingers once more. "Well, this is an interesting dilemma. You don't need to worry about being turned in or arrested, my mouth is shut. Quite securely shut at that."

A long pause. "...... I am really, really bad at awkward silences."

Smarah didn't hear the warning, getting to er 5th drink before being cut off. She wasn't drunk to the point where she couldn't walk right, but she was close. Leaving the bar, she walked home, slightly hobbiling, and swaying all over.

"...... I am really, really bad at awkward silences."

I just stared at him for a long moment before I found my face buried in my hand, a strange sound coming from my chest. It was the sound of laughter, a choking, chuckling kind of snort that was really unattractive yet hilarious at the same time. Somewhere between how tired I was the the emotion of the conversation I could not help myself.

"O-of course you are," I managed to squeak out, "you're a geek, and that's a very common trait amongst your species."

Finally calmed down enough, my face of one relieved. Slowly I uncurled myself from the couch and went to the sink, emptying my half-drank cup of cold coffee. Bringing it and the pot back I sat back down, my eyebrow raised.

"Well, I appreciate the silence; I can't imagine what you're thinking right now. But I guess the question is: what now? I'm not a regular law breaker, nor a threat, but you are now privy to my occasional vigilante work. So how do we sort this out?"

"Hey now. Just because I haven't successfully interacted with people outside of work for almost ten years doesn't mean I'm a gee-"

"..... It kinda does, doesn't it?" Firen replied, an amused grin on his face. It faded ever so slightly when she brought up the question of what came next, but it remained in place nonetheless. "Well."

"At this point, it's both our hides if you get caught. Which means you can't get caught. And since I have as much of a chance at convincing you to stop your activities as I do of landing a date, that means I have to work out how to make sure you don't get caught." The Toa of Data tapped his chin in thought. "Which doesn't leave many options."

IC: "Endelig", Agoritarian Library:

The Toa of Stone vanished, leaving Vaila alone among the books. It remained like this for several moments, until the Glatorian heard a soft cough behind him.

"Follow me, and we shall speak elsewhere." the old Agori said. "The dust in here hurts my throat, and there are many rooms within this building where I might breathe easier. We shall leave them here to clear the air."

Kaelen- Ga-koro-nui

IC: The sound of keys tapping filled the small living room of Kaelen's house as he wrote up the final part of his progress report on the case.

Due to the Director's posse showing up at the workshop of Aishta and her treatment of them, it was deemed inadvisable for another officer to show up and begin asking questions. This lead will be picked up tomorrow unless something else comes up.

With a yawn and a stretch, the detective sent the report to the Department of Security database where it was placed with the other pertaining to the case. He turned of the laptop and closed it before heading down to the basement.

Down there was the reason that he had refused several good offers to sell the property (Apparently it was on a good spot to build a new hotel). A small grotto had formed by means of the stream that ran through it. Kaelen had placed lightstones around it after he bought the property and used the place for meditation.

The pale Toa sat down on the small island in the middle of the stream and closed his eyes.

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

"Well, if you're willing to look the other way, that's a solid in my opinion. If it's any consolation I did not enjoy the chase myself-" I paused, allowing myself a smile, " ...well, at least not completely. Your pursuit vehicles drivers could use more experience."

I put the coffee away. "I'll be more careful to be certain, do my homework before I don the 'suit'. I didn't like the surprise I got; trust me, it wasn't fun. Especially considering how a simple chase got this much attention, if I go out I'll make sure to disappear more quietly. If you're willing to work with me, I'll definitely be more picky with what I do. I'd hate to cost you your job, and that's the better end of that result."

I raised an eyebrow. "Though I am open to negotiations."

"Unofficially, I'm already looking the other way. Officially, I checked in, interviewed you, decided you weren't a suspect." Firen sipped absentmindedly at his coffee, even though it was significantly cooler than it once was. "And yes. Most of the pursuit drivers really aren't that good. Let's face it, they aren't me."

"On a more serious note, they're going to get you eventually. You're clever, I'll give you that. Even with the police chase, you didn't leave enough behind to pin it on you. But it was enough to narrow it down to just a few possibilities.""And if you get caught, it's easy to make the connection. "Hey, I think this is the girl Firen investigated. Wasn't she supposed to be clean?" Not to mention, even if they don't make that connection, I'd hate having to do the paperwork."

I sighed, seeing this conversation looping around and around. I sat myself down next to him, staring at the opposite wall. "Ok, ok, I see your point. Look, at least I was honest and admitted it to you, let alone promised to take it easy on my late-night activities. Though I highly doubt they'll truly get me if I actually tried."

I rubbed the bridge of my mask, seeing this back and forth going nowhere. "So, what do you suggest? Just sit here, twiddle my thumbs do nothing, live a simple, boring, uneventful life here on the coast? Trust your bosses and co-workers to get it right when their their track record isn't as good as they project? I... just can't do that either. So what do we do?"

"If I recall correctly, and this is a direct quote, I said that getting you to stop would be as likely as me getting a date. In other words, next to impossible."

One thing that was quickly growing apparent, even with the limited interaction the two had had with one another before he was arrested, was that Firen cracked far more jokes than he used to. Even when he was being serious, they slipped in, worming their way into everything he said.

"In other words, I don't expect you to stop. But at the same time, I can't let you get caught, for a wide variety of reasons that I'm too lazy to get in to. Which really only leaves one option."

"I have to find a way to make sure that you don't get caught while you're out doing your thing. Which, basically, means I get to add aiding a criminal to my charge list should I ever be caught.""Joy of all joys."

It was several hours after my successful aquiring of credits. The rain had stopped, I stashed haul at my super secret hidaway.

Okay, I watch too many movies.

Well, I still had some time to kill. I wasn't worried. It would take a few months before anyone knew the credits were gone, and by then, any leads that I had missed destroying would have dried up. One had to pick their targets carefully, you know?

I pushed open the door to the bar, a fairly well respected place in a not-to-bad part of town call the 'Sting by the locals. I paused at the doorway for a moment, my fedora pulled down over my eyes as I regarded the few beings inside. Well, no cops, not that I was looking. Seeing as it wouldn't be few discreet to just stand there, I slipped over to the bar, my coat swinging behind me. Unconsciously, I kept an eye on the beings there. I wasn't the most trusting of souls.

IC, Whira: Whira smiled again. So... this guy liked flirting with her. Whira didn't mind one bit. Flirting was a game that she could play easily and win. She loved winning that game. "So... are you... doing anything tonight?" she asked, seemingly cautious, leaning forward a little at the same time. Although the cautious undertone was fake- it was all part of her flirting act.

OOC: Sorry for my absence Xemnas, with school and a few other things this week I happened to be more busy than I would have liked.

IC: (Atahu)

I looked to my phone, it wasn't lit up with any new messages and if I didn't get any messages by now, then I wasn't needed.

"I'm off work, tonight's clear for me, what about you?" I asked with a smile curved on my lips. Tonight would be exciting to say the least.

Excellent. Whira was willing to spend the night with me. She seemed rather easy to ply with words. Now I also understood she was flirting too, a women doesn't lean forward like that or make compliments like that if she isn't trying to draw you in. Not that I minded, it was nice once in a way. To have some intrigued, interested, willing, that she did this of her own volition and not mine.

"I am not a criminal." I pouted, crossing my arms and sinking into the couch, a slight snort escaping my nostrils. Misunderstood, maybe. Not trusting, absolutely. But a criminal? That was harsh.

"Alright, geek, what's your brilliant solution? Obviously according to you this must be solved tonight, so I guess I'm not getting back to sleep until that happens. Fantastic."

What was it, one in the morning? I wondered if he ever slept, considering how perky he seemed to be.

IC - Vaila [Agoritarian Library]: The Glatorian was apprehensive at first before nodding and following the old Agori. Even before the Shattering, Vaila had not interacted with any other tribe aside from his own. This changed when an envoy of the Gravity Tribe first visited. The Glatorian was entranced by their tales of the world beyond filled with other tribes and instantly leaped at the chance to help them whether it be building a new structure or escorting a caravan.

IC-Houren"It's okay guys, I don't think she'll go and destroy the ship because of this..." I rubbed my head. This whole thing was giving me a headache. I leaned against a wall casually, crossing my arms and watching the street. Tenko was asking for more information; I felt it only right to satisfy this wish."I think you're the killer."The rest of the group all turned to look in shock."What?""I think that you're the one who, when we go into the future, will kill Laniga and complicate things for the rest of us." I looked at the ground, avoiding questioning gazes. "Any questions?" Most of them did have questions. "No?" I ignored them. "Good."I pushed off of the wall, making my way into the street."To the museum?"
