So I've started a new series of stories on my [Removed. Please do not mention sites with forums.-Nukaya], called Victorian Railways. It's a fact-based fiction about the railways of regional Victoria, and the trains that run on them, set from 1986, eventually leading up to now. Each story will be told from the point of view of the trains themselves. Some stories will even be about real-life events. The first episode has been published, and a second is in progress now.
It is over 15 years old, but I figured this might interest people anyway. In the olden days, computer game companies used to release various holiday versions of their games. Jazz Jackrabbit, for instance, had two Christmas editions: one in 1994 and one in 1995. The 1995 version had two planets. The first was called Candion, which appeared to be a world full of candy, lollies and icing sugar. The second should interest people here quite a bit: Bloxonious, which was a world made from LEGO BRIC
The website you seek Cannot be located, but countless more exist. It's a Haiku I learned in high school, which I have interpreted to mean "The way you want to do something can't always be done, but there are other ways to do it." In this case, it's for a job at V/Line. I recently applied to become a fill-in Customer Communications Officer for them. The position won't get me on a V/Line train, but it nonetheless gets me a job. V/Line is a very flexible company that approves of people moving
Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13, and I suffer from it. This is because I suffer from being stalked by the number 13. Everywhere I look, the number 13 appears. EVERYWHERE! Even when I used an online random number generator to find my Spirit Pokémon, the number I got was 13! THAT was the biggest sign of all of my 13-based bad luck! I have 13 pages of blog entries on BZPower too, which I don't like. EDIT: this entry, ironically, makes it 14 pages! Good riddance!
Decided to add a new category tag: trains! I'll update some of my older train-related entries with it shortly. When I move out, I might build a small model railway in or under my house, using HO scale models of V/Line trains. At this stage, I'm considering using a few A-class locomotives (which look like the N-class I have pics of in past entries, only with bulldog-nosed cabs instead of square cabs) hauling carriages, and Y-class locomotives (again, no image available) shunting. DERM and VLoci
Here are the pictures from the railtour, as promised! After all these years, the couplings are still the same!
So, there was a vintage train called a DERM (Diesel Electric Rail Motor) doing a railtour from Melbourne's Southern Cross station yesterday, bound for Colac. Needless to say I couldn't resist participating! During the trip we watched the surprised faces of people we went past. Never got old! I also fell in love with the DERM's high-pitched whistle! Then there was trouble. CRUNCH! #MichaelAngelis Between Marshall and Winchelsea, just past Geelong, the wind picked up. A tree was blown onto
That's right, an assignment I just got requires me to create a level on Unreal Tournament's Unreal Development Kit! I need to make a simple 1v1 DeathMatch map. "Simple" means no skins or backgrounds at this stage, but I might get them later on my own. The map I'm making will be inspired by Bionicle's Karda Nui. Players will fly around upside-down cones (stalactite villages) on Cicada vehicles (Rockoh/Jetrax). One cone will have a cave (Mutran's lab) which will contain a few good powerups, b
(can I just say that the new character limit has ruined one of my biggest tags?) This is probably not the most prudent decision after my last entry, but I feel like advertising some LEGO CUUSOO proposals I've made. They are in a thread I've created, but I feel like they need more attention. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/3654 - baterra http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/16686 - the rest of the Toa Hagah http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/19422 - Toa Tuyet If someone has a 3D model of Lari
V/Line has redesigned their conductor talent pool vacancies, allowing me to apply with them once again! I've also started applying for work at smaller places in my local area.
So, there was another Pokémon tournament in the city yesterday! The tournament used the same rules as the past 3 Nintendo-run tournaments did, so I didn't bother to build a new team. Besides, my last team did well, and there's another tournament next week that uses different rules. My first round was put on the big screen, this time not by design but by coincidence! I almost lost the battle but then a communication error (not the only one on the big screen) forced us to restart the battle
The Carbon Tax has hit Australia. We are now being taxed for breathing! Watch as life becomes completely unsustainable in Australia. Watch as all our companies are crushed by the added burden. Watch as Julia Gillard laughs her tyrannic head off as the money comes in, not caring about the 20 million PEASANTS (because that is how she sees us) that are going through poverty because of her.
I now have 4 weeks off TAFE, which gives me plenty of time to do some train trips around the Melbourne metropolitan area! I plan to go from Caulfield to Pakenham by diesel train because I can, even though electric trains terminate there. This is unique to Pakenham: you cannot travel between the city and any other terminus by diesel. I also plan to travel the shuttle service between Newport and Williamstown. It will likely be the last time I'll see 3-carriage electric trains, which run on th
My application process at V/Line is over. They rejected my application after the latest test. Now i just have to worry about the position at Metro, which I should hear about in 3-4 weeks.
In an earlier entry, I revealed that the Australian suburban rail company Metro opened up vacancies for the next generation of train drivers, and I applied for the position. I discovered that an old friend from high school had also applied for the job, making the process much more interesting! Last night, over two weeks after applications closed, he said on social media that his application was accepted. I hadn't heard anything from them at all, so I feared I had been rejected. However, whe
But I didn't make it into the Legends of Lhii final poll despite coming a close second in the poll before. Ah well, I'd consider it a personal best in BZPower contests.
Pros: stays true to the original, more captain interaction, graphics are improved but still true to tradition, new Pikmin species Cons: Rock Pikmin? :/ They'll take some getting used to. What else I'd like to see: more Pikmin species (particularly those pink flying ones on the title card, and what the parastiic Pikmin that infected Bulborbs in Pikmin 2 really look like), what happened to Olimar (he's not one of the pklayable captains in Pikmin 3), what happened to Louie, the President's real
So, I went on a big meetup with my friends yesterday. During the morning, a couple of us went shiny hunting. My friend went hunting for a shiny Mewtwo with no success, and I went hunting for a shiny Machop because it's my favourite Pokémon. <3 Suddenly, I did get a shiny! Sadly it wasn't machop, but Geodude. Nonetheless, it was only my 6th random encounter shiny, and my first in a Gen 4 or later game, so my day was still made.
After making a recent post, I suddenly noticed I had 3 warning points against my name. Panicked and confused, I had a look. All it said was I had one warning point. I looked under "More Details", and the PM I got from McSmeag when he gave me that proto boost was staring back at me! :/ Completely confused.
I just got an e-mail out of the blue a few hours ago from V/Line, who I applied for work with a couple months ago. I passed the aptitude test! Next in the application process is surprisingly not a half-day interview, but an online work style profile and safety questionnaire. In other news, applications for the train driver position at Metro expired less than an hour ago.
