Relations

I was thinking to myself a while back: Funny how many of the staff were, in ways, uncles/aunts/godfathers/don't know about godmothers...   And a few others who were not staff but were, in ways, uncles/aunts/godfathers...   Then I landed on the big question: How old are we?     All right, sorry to the staff but some of them are of proper age to be an uncle.   But I know that there are others who are around my age, and only a few years older for some.   And we're already someone's uncle/aunt

A Series Of Read-aloud Questions

Who does make shoes?   Adidas.   Who makes ice-cream?   Haagen Daz.   What did Sam do?   Samsung.   What does a man become when he's knighted?   Acer.   I know what to do when I grow up. I want to be a fisherman. Why? I want to be a Fisherman's Friend.     What did Taipu say when the Nui-Rama grabbed him?   Lego!!! (Say it fast.)     Why does Apple have a bitten apple as its logo? Microsoft took a bite out of it.   So, when Apple wants an idea, it takes a look out of a Window(s).

Transformers 2...

I saw it yesterday.   I almost cried.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Not because Optimus Prime died again.  But because...   MICHAEL BAY! You killed my childhood!! Creeping In My Ears

Yeah, I've never heard the song for the Barraki mini-clip, being that I had never seen the clip before.   So when I heard that it was downloadble, I was loaded with curiosity, and downloaded it.     I wasn't exactly pleased with it. It was a rock song about darkness, but I think they tried too hard to make their point known. The lyrics were simple, but it led to cheesiness. *punch 1*   Music wise, I think I'll be able to ear-play this song real quick! No, not really. I won't really have the c

Week Of Festivity

Believe me when I say that I only remembered such a thing as 'Valentine's Day' existed as of yesterday.   That wasn't really on my mind. I have no relations that tie in with Valentine's Day, and the hearts and roses never really did interest me, and still don't at this point in time. I'm not saying that this is permanent, however.   Meanwhile, I'm more pumped up for Chinese New Year.   There's going to be some serious gorging to do, and money to collect. It's going to be the season of red -

I Can't Believe It

I... won... I won in a BZP contest...   For the first time, in my three years on this little site and hidey-hole on the Net, I finally won a BZP contest.     OK, it's an honourable mention, but it's better than nothing!   I'll be honest that I thought my songfic would get somewhere, but I had not expected a winning position at all!   I'm dumbfounded, speechless, well... genuinely surprised. I checked the topic after my 8am test, with my friends around me.   Everyone laughed when I squeaked

I Am Confuzzled.

It's been two short nights - really short nights. I had been sleeping at 2, past 2 sometimes, to rush out the first phase of my final-year-project.   I feel a nice, large headache coming my way, and it'll hit me hard the minute I submit this assignment. Even now, I feel groggy...     Who's Janice?   -<dd>

A Little Doggie

This is Lucky. Lucky, say "Hi" to all the nice readers!   Lucky had a haircut.   He doesn't look like himself anymore, with all that cropped hair, and I miss running my hands through that semi-coarse fur.   But now it's silky soft.   Besides, Lucky is still Lucky. His antics are forever the same.   He reminded us, recently, of why animals are considered to be dumb, at times.   A few nights ago, Annie the maid was heating up Lucky's everyday dinner of rice and chicken stew. He loves it, a

It's That Time Of The Year! Again!

6 hours and...52 minutes from now, it'd be the 20th anniversary of the birth of <dd>!   If I may steal some limelight and be very obnoxious ( ), all good wishes can be posted here.   I already got some gifts. My good friends have surprised me with a Tascam audio interface - perfect for the Berklee dorm room emergency recordings, if need be. And my twin got me a pink LEGO Pirate shirt! Big yay on that one! And my good friend got tickets for me to watch Video Games Live next week! Front

Mobility

Hello from one of the most popular malls on the island. Just did some new year shopping. Custom had it that every new year meant a new set of clothes. To blazes with whoever that made that rule. I nearly got mobbed!   I hope that 5 shirts, a pair of jeans and a jacket does the trick. I nearly blew my really big budget.   And may this go down in history: <dd> blogged and browsed BZP on her cellphone!   May I not blow my bill.

When The Earth Rumbles...

My geography teacher was right.   After Christmas, expect some geological disaster/happening to occur. It may not strike constantly, but frequently enough to make it a world trend.   Examples? The post-Christmas Bam Earthquake, the infamous tsunami that crashed the shores of Thailand, India, Sri Lanka and other places, and the most recent one this year: an underwater earthquake.   The earthquake occured just off Taiwan, a bit away from Singapore, but its effects were felt here. A few days bef

Roach Saga

Act 1:   It started when I stepped out of the girls' bedroom last Friday. I had barely closed the door behind me when something tapped against my leg, and landed on a pile of boxes next to the door.   I had a better look at it - and jumped back in shock.   It was a cockroach.   I stepped back. My other sister, however, had a better reaction - she screamed and shut herself in the master bedroom.   I looked for something to kill that roach with, but before I could grab the letter knife the ro

Coming And Going

I took the train down to the airport to pick up my twin sis. She returned from a school literature trip in England - and I could not wait to hear what news she had to bring.   When she finally came down, she was one of the last few to collect her bags. The teachers gave a de-brief, and she was one of the first few who walked out of the arrival area.   You could imagine what she had to face when, after a long flight from Europe to Asia, she had to endure a heavy glomp from her not-so-light sist

The Real Fiction: The Letter

This post is a pioneering one for me: my fiction, published online for the first time.   Now, I cannot guarantee that this will be shown more prominently on this blog. I am *somewhat, maybe more than that* proud of this piece of work.   It was a take I did on that harmful Creative Writing session, and I freshened it up, edited it here and there, and finally handed it to the lecturer.   It would not go to any competition or anything, but it was a creative release. I have not done a short story

A Female Take Of Mythbusters

They often say that 'men don't get it'. That's an incomplete sentence, ya know. I think it oughta be: 'men don't get it - about women.'   Better yet for those who think that we're out of the ageist league (fanfiction that needs teenage heroes, for example): 'Boys don't get it - about girls.'   A lot of myths - urban and traditional - exist about women along men, and vice versa.   I'm here to clear one of those very popular myths.   'Women are, most of the time, die-hard shoppers.'   That's

Packing Up

The performance went all-right. The mistakes I made weren't too obvious, thank goodness. The teacher-singer I had enlisted as my partner in crime did a splendid rendition of 'Girl From Ipanema' to 'Boy From Ipanema' in English and Portugese.   But, that aside, I'm heading to the US on Monday - and arriving on Northwest-American soil on Monday. No thanks to the Greenwich line and the Median line (My geography is rusty), I may suffer from serious jetlag when I return (next Wednesday), and I fores

Sweet Sabotage! A Female Sarcasm Chick-flick!

May I warn all of you: Don't take the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada' too seriously, and with many pinches of salt for the femme audience!   There was something all too obvious for me when I watched the movie. I tell you, I was adamant about watching a chick flick. However, when ol' Daddy said he was watching too, the in-house movie critic, I hopped onto the bandwagon.   I was so happy I watched the movie.   There's no need for me to write out a summary of the movie. You go watch it when you ca

Money-making Opportunity?

There was once a time when my whole family was in a LEGO craze - at least for my brother and me. The BIONICLE sets (Olda and Nuva) came, and went. My brother made a horrible MOC of Gali Olda with brown arms, green legs, a clawed foot and 6 arms with weapons attached to her chest. I dismantled that piece before the nightmares could start.   There were other pieces too - some Technics parts (and I don't recall any of those!), some rather old LEGO parts (you know, the City kind and the old ones th

To Get The Sister Moving

When my little sister came into the room at 9pm, my twin and I noted that she was still in her school uniform.   She had not gone for her daily shower.   My twin was absolutely nit-picky about that. The surrogate mother of the house ordered the little grasshopper to make a move.   The little grasshopper continued to watch me play my MMORPG.     So, Twin came to me and she decided that we two should take up our duties as Elder Sisters to full responsibility - and get her to the bathroom.   W

Nosebleeeeeeeeeed

Well, that's one way, out of many many ways, to fix a nosebleed.   I was a chronic nose-bleeder when I was young. It's the kind that leaks all the way down and doesn't go away until half an hour later, with treatment of course.   My grandmother firmly follows the method of letting the bleeding one lie down, with a ice-cold wet towel placed on the forehead as treatment. I remember the feeling of something going down the back of my throat during this lie-down, and I hated that feeling. It was ve

Yippee!

My polytechnic form tutor just rang me up today, and he just made my day.   He informed me that he was ringing up students with a GPA of 3 and above for something special they were entitled to for their good grades.   There was a specialist diploma open for me to take, 2 years covered with 1K (which is VERY reasonable) and it would mean that I would graduate with two diplomas instead of one. The specialist diploma that's open to me is Creative Media Design. Maybe it'll teach me how to use Pho

Thar Be A Maraudin'

GAAH!   Just when I thought I could ask Omi a little earlier about pirate cosplay advice, my players landed the bomb on me: We were definitely going out in garb - tomorrow.   The Pirates of the Carribean Medley is going out in full force. Today was the sound practice and everyone got a nice shock to hear the Port Royale theme filtering through the speakers. There were cheers and hoots.   So, to keep things up, we decided to cosplay.   The closest character I resembled was Will Turner. Howeve

Taming Of The Bore

That was the challenge given to me, and it was tough.   Y'see, I have my next school assessment coming up: a public performance.   Yep. Right. Next Wednesday.   A public performance.   The hub of the arts in this country (look up the Esplanade if you're interested in depth-knowledge) had a conveniently-placed cafe in the library, and it had conveniently provided a little stage, complete with a digital piano.   When our group of merry students made a trip to that library to handle our assign

Back With A Vengeance...?

CNY celebrations have come and passed for me, even if the Spring Festival lasts for 15 days. I have surprisingly not shown any visual sign of weight gain, and I've grown wealthier too. Red Packet Count exceeded last year's quota to a nice collection of 22 envelopes.   And the monetary quota I got... I'll put it as censored and aside before anyone decides to rob my chance of getting a Bionicle set or a good book... or my university degree.     Today, the school website released my theory grade
