  1. I can't speak for anyone else, but I stuck around because of G1 and its lasting impact on my childhood. While I was, of course, excited when G2 was announced, I never followed it all that closely. In the end it never really affected my interest in Bionicle. And since BZPower had its heyday when G2's target audience was in preschool, I suspect there's quite a few people here with this same mentality.
  2. Thanks! I see where you're coming from there. The model is poseable, and I even had to make him walk for the school assignment. The animation was too awful to share, mostly because it was my first attempt and I was in a rush.
  3. When your 3D modeling class gives you the assignment of creating a robot, is there really any choice in the matter for any self-respecting fan? It's gotta be Bionicle. Sure he's biomechanical, but the teacher doesn't know that. So here's the Tahu model I did a few months back. There's a few parts I'm not so happy with (the neck, the mask), but I didn't feel like putting any more time into this particular model.
  4. Since I'm going off to college, I had to leave the vast majority of my (and my brother's) Lego collection behind. We store our lego parts sorted roughly by category in about a dozen plastic bins and drawers. I did take along my collection of 2001-2003 sets and parts, and so far they all fit in a single plastic bin, waiting to be reassembled and displayed when I get my dorm.
  5. Mine was 2006. I was introduced to Bionicle in 2005, but '06 was the first year when I really started to gain interest, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I still remember Radiak being the first set I bought on my own.
  6. Did it really? In what context?
  7. Back in my day (early 2000s), LEGO.com made good online games. But seriously. What non-Bionicle games did you play on the Lego website, if any? What was your favorite? Do you still play any of them now? What about newer games? I played a whole lot of Junkbot Undercover, and I have a vague memory of the Johnny Thunder game and the Alpha Team First Encounter game. But I'd have to say my favorite game of all was the Spybotics game. I found it online and played through it not too long ago, and it still holds up.
  8. That makes a lot of sense actually. It would explain why this was cut while other, arguably more violent scenes were not.
  9. Thanks! The arms do look a bit lackluster to be honest, but like you said they're about as movie accurate as I could get them. Thanks for the feedback! While the Volitak does look pretty big on him, keep in mind that Matoran heads tend to be disproportionately large.
  10. This Matoran is based on the Jaller and Takua's appearance in MoL. I didn't make any particular character since silver and red was the only color scheme that worked for this MOC. Front Back Enjoy!
  11. Thanks! It took about an hour or so to get the function working. I had a general idea of how it would work, so the bulk of the time was spent building up the body and the trigger. Well the 2001-vibes are definitely strong in it. You've done a great job keeping a solid look to it while retaining that trigger function. Nice work! Thank you!
  12. This is awesome. The spindly limbs and spiky armor really make her look sinister. I also like the gold, it adds a nice contrast.
  13. This looks great. It really keeps the feel of the original. The only nitpick I have is the gray pieces used to fill in open joints. The one at the top would look better in black, and the ones on the claws could probably either be changed to black or just omitted altogether.
  14. My last one was Furno XL, and I only got him because he was $3 at a thrift store. The last one I got retail was Jawblade from a few years back. I mostly got him for the silver CCBS pieces.
  15. I've been lazy in the past. Today, that continues. But yeah, it kind of looks like a giant rooster. Or something. Front Back It Strikes! The Guts So this MOC was inspired by the 2001 Rahi. This style is new to me, so it's certainly not my best, but I had a lot of fun building it. I'll probably remake it at some point if I'm so inclined. Things I'd like to improve: 1. Create a happy medium between exposed and concealed Technic. Right now the front and back are each at unhappy extremes. 2. Improve the trigger for the striking function. While I like the function itself, the whole back acts as the trigger, which is kind of unsatisfying. Comments, criticism appreciated, as always. Enjoy!
  16. This is probably just nostalgia kicking in, but I really liked the animations that gave a synopsis of each year from 2001 to 2003. I became a Bionicle fan in '05, so those were my first experience with the Bionicle storyline. They did a great job of compressing the year I into a minute or two without feeling rushed. I also love the sounds they use, they really set the mood for the story.
  17. Good job. I really like the color scheme. It gives him a nice contrast. The tubes on the torso also add a cool effect.
  18. I saw Kraata packs on sale in 2006 or 2007. I've since acquired a kraata-less Rahkshi, so I wish I had gotten one or two. I think they also had Nuju Metru.
  19. Oh by gosh by Gali. It's time for mistletoe and Hahli!
  20. I've mentioned it a couple of times, but "oh yeah, I used to have some of those" is about as far as the conversation generally gets.
  21. I'm not much of a collector, but I have to agree with the majority here in that the kanohi win outright. Aside from the far superior MOCing potential, they had a uniqueness that the others couldn't quite match. the krana all kind of look the same from a distance, and the only real variation in kraata is color. Don't even get me started on the projectiles.
  22. It would be awesome to have all the sets from 2001-2003. I don't really care about canisters or collectibles, or even the standard disks/krana/kraata that are supposed to come with them. Failing that, any titan from 2001-2005 (especially the original Rahi and the Bahrag) would be great. Of course, I wouldn't say no to a full G1 collection, but with the significant expense, time, and (IMO) diminishing returns, that's not something I'm going to pursue.
  23. I got a $10 box from a garage sale containing most of Lewa Mata, Rahkshi Stars, Tahu Stars, and Nuhvok. Nuhvok was missing his rubber band and Krana, Tahu and Rahkshi were missing their weapons, and Lewa got the short end of the stick, with a missing arm, axe, and mask. Overall though it was definitely worth the money, especially since it came with some other assorted pieces and some k'nex.
  24. Fixed the title for you. Anyway, I really like the fire pit - though, it does seem a little bit too tall relative to the log benches. I do appreciate your use of different grays to give the look of differently colored stones, though. Thanks. I think the fire pit was my favorite part of the moc, so I'm glad you liked it. The scaling is definitely off for the logs, but there was only so much I could do given my pieces and the size of the scene. Making the fire pit smaller might detract from the appearance, though I could always give it a shot. Yeah, this is about as big as I could make it given my small collection of brown pieces. The placement of the outhouse was a little awkward, but that doesn't make it any less necessary. Thanks for the feedback.
  25. I'm not a big fan of the gold, it kind of clashes with the orange in this case. That being said, this is still a great MOC. The torso design is really cool, and I like the leg design. If you could replace the blue pins with tan ones that would look quite a bit better, but if you don't have any then that might prove to be difficult.
