  1. Quite nice indeed =D only thing I could say is that perhaps some minor tweaking could be done on the limbs, but not that much.
  2. Well it kind of does doesn't it... Hence the term "team build"... Crazy idea, give Iruini and Norik the same custom build, done, team build still
  3. Wow, we really love our semantics here on BZP, don't we? Firstly, of COURSE they're just Toa Metru builds. They're Toa HAGAH. Munty's been pretty much entirely civil, but I find the above post kind of rude. "Cheap way to build MOCs"? In my mind, you are missing the point entirely. Like, you're in another time zone entirely. Have you ever played an MMO? You ever notice in EVERY MMO in existence, there's a dying system for your armor? That's because everyone likes different things in different colors. Any MMO that doesn't have a good dying system is always criticized harshly for it. People don't want to "work within" the confines of pre-selected options when it comes to visual aspects of their model, people like variety! Nobody has ever thought, while looking at their MMO character: "Gee, I wish I could make those shoulder pads silver... but oh well, I respect the designers limitations forced upon me." No, we think, "Gee, I wish I could make those shoulder pads silver... and I will!" In my aesthetic personal opinion, Gaaki's current shoulder armor (for example,) was the best fit, as far as shape is concerned. I looked through all the available pieces, ordered a lot, tried on several, and thought they blended best. But they weren't the right color. Sooo I overcame the obstacle. If I did what you advocate, and used only pieces that Lego made silver, I'd be stuck with a shape that I liked less. Just tell me in what version of reality is it better to make a model of any kind that has less-visually-appealing pieces just for the sake of staying with Lego authenticity? I don't comprehend it. Trying to put myself into that limited shortsighted mindset makes my brain ooze out of my ears. Note: It's perfectly reasonable to not like a MOC because you don't like the look of it, or the pieces used. I'm just taking issue with the "painting is evil" mentality. To begin with, just because Iruini and Norik were released with the Metru build doesn't mean you have to stick with it (hence the term "custom build"), not to mention I never said painting parts is "evil". Also MMOs have nothing to do with this, that's an entirely different idea, just because the computer/console game allows stupid amount of coloring doesn't excuse painting every single part with that mentality, with that thinking we could just do set builds and painting them, calling them MOCs, that way we'd degrade to the level of unoriginal character creators who think taking an already existing character and changing it's colors make it "original"
  4. Well... it's something alright, don't really know what to say about this fella o.O
  5. I'll give A for effort, Bomonga and Gaaki's masks look interesting, but overall I wouldn't really call it fully custom(yes I know they have customized looks, not custom builds making the word 'unique look for each' fit better), first off, they are just Toa Metru builds with some parts changed or different armor slapped on, second, painting pieces to make it fit is always a cheap way to build MOCs, it only shows that instead of thinking of an actual solution to the problem you just go around it to make it fit, Kualus' Breez mask just doesn't work in my opinion
  6. Nice looking MOC indeed, did you take inspiration from the Tahtorak's look by any chance?
  7. As an idea, it sound interesting, but the execution is just Tahu and Lord of the skull spiders slapped together, I'd recommend actually building something from scratch than just putting A together with B
  8. Honestly less can be more, both in parts and colors, or at least more organized colors, not to mention the way it looks the MOC is barely holding itself together as it's about to fall face first down. I'd suggest redoing it from scratch either sticking to the centaur form or with something else.
  9. It doesn't look bad as an idea, but those giant hands just make no sense, let alone the chest piece from the Lord of the Skull Spiders set
  10. It's quite neat, though it does feel a bit front heavy, does it weigh the holder forward too much?
  11. Am I sensing some Metal Gear influence in this MOC? but nicely done none the less
  12. Not bad as an idea but the final outcome feels overdone and under developed at some points, for example the tail doesn't feel like something they should have, not to mention the over stacked weapons, that are just the weapons of the original sets.
  13. I applaud the effort you put into creating so many versions of the Rahkshi but I honestly never really liked parts getting cut and glue and/or painted to a color only to make it fit
  14. That I noticed but still, minus the gear action and slightly better legs over all it doesn't feel too different than the original set.
  15. So much for my luck... >_> congrats to the winners
  16. I'd suggest that if you revamp something, give it a personal style to it, not make a 99% replica if possible. Don't get me wrong here, I can understand that making MOCs in LDD is hard as it is, and I respect the effort you or anyone puts into it, my advice is that you should start from scratch and make an actual revamp, that just looks similar to the original set yet it isn't the same thing.
  17. Huh, I never even noticed =D as for the blue parts I don't have black ones, ever since the blue took over, or at least the places I usually could order from didn't have black. And here is the other two if you are interested, I did post them here but I have no idea how many pages do I have to go through to find them http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-buzzer-499991706 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pinerus-the-Vengeful-498073915
  18. http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-Piranha-502946374 *So far this mutation is the most vicious of them all, the creature came to be after a cut down giant tree's lower part tried to regenerate itself, turning into this. Once their hive-mind and their leader received this information some were sent to transform the tree stomps in those forests where his brethren were cut down, increasing their numbers even further. Though these are just a big mouth on legs their threat is not any less than the rest, as they're fast an agile giving only a small window to neutralize it. Reports came in saying that the tip of the spear of Pinerus' horde reached the North Pole, satellite images show that this green menace is soon to engage in combat yet again but with forces unknown as no military claims they sent forces up to the pole, nor we could get a response on any radio channels. * Since the 's contest has a few days left I thought I'll muster one last entry from the remaining amount of brown and dark green I have, though I wanted use all my brown, some just had to be left out, but I'm still happy with the results. The mouth can't really move much but it still does it's job. Side: Pine-Piranha - side Back: Pine-Piranha - back Size: Pine-Piranha - Size
  19. The third place winner has not replied to accept their prize (there's legal forms they need to sign). Once they do so, they will be announced. What happens if they don't reply? My guess is that the 4th becomes the new 3rd place holder
  20. I went through the video multiple times, can't see it at all.
  21. Sadly I'm short on parts and I only had light grey in Mata arms, and that would've broken the colors a bit so I had to go with the L shaped slizer leg.
  22. http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-buzzer-499991706 *As the spreading rampage and chaos continued on started by the giant monstrous tree creature calling himself Pinerus has reanimated many of the cut down trees, most of which just became similar to him, though there have been reported cases of other creatures, possible mutations that caused by an unknown reason. One of these mutations were a near human sized insectoid that was soon referred to as a Pine buzzer. This "beetle" was able to spread spores from it's body that had varied effects, the most common being toxic and lethal for humans. Other than that there were reports of dried up corpses of animals and citizens as they were possibly sucked dry of their fluids by these over-sized insects.* Head: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-buzzer-Head-499996878 Back: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-buzzer-Back-499997347 Underbelly: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-buzzer-Underbelly-499997522 Size: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Pine-buzzer-Size-499997710 After building that tree monster I thought it could use some minions, though I had a different idea in mind at first I still like the final product and might be able to build one more hopefully before the contest ends.
  23. I agree that it seems a bit lazy to enter old MoCs, but I wouldn't hold it against someone if they wanted to enter what they may consider their crowning achievement. They did still put the effort to build it at some point. That some people put quantity over quality certainly isn't in doubt and a limit on the number of entries may have encouraged them to do a bit better. As it is a contest to build the ultimate villian, I'm not surprised that a bunch of Makuta MoCs were built. What other villian has been so stinking awesome in the BIONICLE (or imho ANY) universe? And while there are quite a few Makuta MoCs that are fairly generic, black/red/bat wings, Makuta are shape shifters, so there's room for an infinite variety of possible MoCs that could be called "Makuta". I think that there are some that pulled that off wonderfully. I exclude myself from the previous statement of course because including myself would be exceptionally arrogant. I leave it to others to judge how well I built my MoC. And yes, my entry is a Makuta, but that's only because I put my effort into the build and was admittedly somewhat lazy with the back story True the old MOCs had effort put into them, but always posting your old creation instead of actually trying to challenge yourself to build something new and different will result in the decay of the building skills as the poster will rely on its past work instead of a current. I've been relying on my past work for contests to some degree for the whole year (I make a point of saving all good MOCs for contests), and my building skills haven't suffered. One year is not that long of a time, I meant an at least more than a year kind of absence from building new things and using the past glory.

As for the Makuta MOCs, yes there were quite decent works but the Teridax revamps were just one of laziest ideas, the Makuta of Okoto was atleast a fresh thing so I had nothing against it being built, but Teridax has been revamped a million times over the years and got really stale as an idea. Backstory wise I can't really say an opinion as I haven't read everyone of them.
