  1. While I didn't buy any of the sets when the theme initially came out (it was during my time where I fell out of LEGO for a little while, after BIONICLE was first cancelled), and while I didn't watch the TV show as it was first airing, I do remember marathoning it a couple of weeks before the first "finale", and from what I remember, I actually really enjoyed it! With the new movie coming out and BIONICLE's cancellation, I was thinking about maybe getting back into the series, and actually buying some sets this time. However, I haven't followed anything about it since the not-ending, so I don't know if I should pick it back up again. So, should I pick it up again? And if I were to start buying some of the sets, what would you recommend? EDIT: Phrasing
  2. I'm excited to learn more about the GoT Okoto. The beginning to this is really great, and I'm looking forward to the rest. EDIT: I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but congrats on the feature!
  3. I would probably have to say that it wouldn't. While having it be a reboot may lose some of the hardcore fans, it also opens up the theme to newcomers of the line, and just in general makes it more accessable to both. Plus, even if it was a continuation, that doesn't necessarily lead to a better story quality.
  4. It's sad to see BIONICLE go once more. I really enjoyed collecting all the sets this year, as I personally found the sets some of the best construction sets ever released. It was clear to me that everyone on the project worked hard to make the line enjoyable, so it's sad to see it end even before their 3-year plan was finished.
  5. Honestly, if LEGO eventually decided to revive BIONICLE, I would be fine with their decision; but asking for it's return right after they cancelled it isn't a good idea. There's a reason why they cancelled the theme, and bringing it back isn't going to change that reason.
  6. Well, that's... Huh. I can't say I saw that coming. I honestly thought that BIONICLE was going to continue on for at least one more year. Perhaps it was just naïvety that made me ignore some signs that something was amiss, or that the line could be struggling, but I thought it was going to continue trucking along. That being said, I really enjoyed what we got out of the line. None of it was perfect, particularly in the story aspects, but in my personal opinion, I found that the sets were about as close to perfect as constracfion sets have ever been. The balance between the sturdiness and simplicity of CCBS and the intricacy and variety of Technic helped create sets that were aesthetically pleasing and succinct whilst being packed with functions. I just hope people don't blame the BIONICLE team and LEGO for the cancellation of the line. From the complex set design, to the beautiful concept art, to the multiple concepts, to the fact that it's probably been planning "The Journey to One" since the beginning of the line, it's clear to me that everyone involved was really passionate about the line. It probably wasn't an easy decision to end up cancelling the line, but they had to for a variety of outside and inside reasons. Let's just hope that whatever happens to constraction next will be successful.
  7. If we're talking purely about building systems, I have to agree with Lyichir that the proportions of Technic to CCBS is fine as is. Having the core of the sets being these Technic builds that give a function to the set, and then having CCBS fleshing out the rest of the set creates a balance between simplicity and complexity that appeals to fans of both systems. And this balance so far has worked, as most would agree regardless of the quality of the story that G2 has some of the strongest sets in the line's history; and as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
  8. I have to echo Pulse in saying that this was one of the best G&T experiences I've ever had. I have to agree with what everyone has said so far for improvements, but that doesn't mean that was probably one of the most engaging stories I've been a part of.
  9. I guess I'll vote for Timelord as well.
  10. For what it's worth, my local LEGO Store still caries the entire summer wave, and I've heard of others carrying it as well, so the fact that yours had their sets sent back is probably the exception, not the rule, and there's probably another reason behind it other than poor sales. Anyway, I personally think that while BIONICLE isn't one of LEGO's most popular themes, it is still selling pretty well. The idea that the sets are to be canceled after this year seems improbable to me. At the very least, LEGO will probably complete their 3-year plan, and have the sets end afterwards, and that's assuming it's their worst selling line. Even then, we may even have one or two more years afterwards. At least, that's my take on the whole situation.
  11. I'd be willing to, just give me a few hours.
  12. I haven't had any major changes in opinion; generally, what I think of them first stays the same throughout. However, if there was to be 1 thing I'd site as my biggest change in opinion, it would be that of the Inika build. Back when the sets were coming out, I had no problems with it, as it was the only experience I had at the time. After it ended, and I started collecting pre-2006 sets, my opinions changed. I still have no major problems with the functionality of the build itself, but I can see that it was overused; or rather, that it didn't have that much variety and changes after it's introduction.
