  1. 1. Takua/Takanuva This guy, just, he was an excellent hero, and then he became a Toa. 2. Vakama After Time Trap I see him like a fire wielding Batman. 3. Helryx Is it wrong that I kind of see her as a blue Nick Fury? 4. Nuparu
  2. Well, I've never had any problems with protodermis. It was originally introduced in '01 as a multifaceted material of unknown value(Impenetrable barrier under Mata-Nui, some sort of ore-like substance throughout the island) it also hinted that some living things may be protodermic(the miner described the barrier as being likethe shell of an Ussal Crab). The end of '02 provided another facet for it, that being the transformation inducing power-juice, which would be reused in the MoL movie. I'm pretty sure that it was also mentioned around this time that EP usually disintegrates anything that comes in contact with it that isn't destined to transform either in Beware the Bohrok or during the comics. '04-'05 gave a ton of info with the Metru-Nui guidebook. It is heavily implied that everything in the MU is protodermic, also at this point EP is also confirmed to disintegrate stuff. Add to that the Rahi guidebook(all of which was essentially canon afterwords) further implied as much. At some point the Toa-Metru encountered the Energized Protodermis-being while getting some of the stuff for a plant-monster, it implied that all EP is alive in some sense, or at the very least self-aware. Protodermic barriers made by a Toa-team have elemental properties, or at least react to elemental powers, perhaps implying some connection. Also know that protodermis is responsible for disk and mask powers, including time control. '06 gave us antidermis, with weirder properties than most other protodermis but not as wantonly destructive as it could be, revealed to essentially be the opposite of EP as the two combining causes them to both be destroyed(used to great affect by the Inika) I don't know all of what happened next though. Even without going to Greg, we know that protodermis can mimic the properties of much of known matter, as well as some neat extra stuff that could fall under the duel categories of magic/sufficiently advanced tech. It can alter time and space! Life and death! It can see into your mind! Protodermis can see into your soul! Seriously, what else would you call all that destiny stuff? Add to that the fact that throughout '08-'10 we are treated to the knowledge that Mata-Nui is a giant robot(which in hindsight was surprisingly obvious), the Great Beings were responsible for the intelligence of the occupants of the MU, Velika caused the MU inhabitants to gain sapience, and basically that all MU inhabitants are(get this) robots! (well really more like nano-machines for the GS, but still programmed entities, coded to act within certain parameters) My theory is this, all protodermis actively warps reality ever so slightly(or sometimes not so slightly) allowing it the vast majority of it's powers, primarily all the weirdness with EP.
  3. Robot space pirates attack, and in the process take the mask from you. The captain reveals himself to be me, somehow. My mask and robot space pirates
  4. Little did you know that the ninja was me! I take the mask My mask
  5. I learn how to steal stuff without a face. I do so. My mask
  6. As his largest shareholder, owning 75% of all stocks, I propose that we repurpose the company to the production of delicious, frothy, hot chocolate, fabulous capes and giving me the mask. The motion is passed. We hire a team of faceless assassins in fabulous capes to claim the mask for me My mask
  7. I pay the slenderman $2 to scare you. He does and you drop the mask before he takes you away. My mask
  8. The one with the broomsticks. All joking aside though, it seems to me to be a tie between the Inika-Mahri and the Nuva. On the one hand, the Nuva set everything up so the Mata Nui could be reawakened properly, what with reawakening the bohrok and activating the Codrex. However the Mahri, in spite of only having one job, had they failed at that one job the MU and everyone in it would be dead. Can't reawaken something that's dead, not easily anyways, and certainly not if you are already dead.
  9. I'm okay with the alphabet. I have some trouble remembering letters like Y Z and R, but for the most part I can figure out what's written based on context and what other letters are present, like how I do with other codes
  10. I for one support all of those ideas wholeheartedly!
  11. 2001,I was four at the time. Saw the commercials on Tv one day(Onua if I recall correctly) and it lookes so sleek. So shiny and cool. I wanted one. I think I got some of the McToran, yeah Onepu, Huki, Kongu and Matoro. I then got Kopaka and Gali (and possibly Lewa) for Christmas and the rest is history
  12. I AM a giant foot! While you ponder how I just crushed myself I kick you into space, stealing the mask in the process. My mask
  13. I offer to trade the mask for a glass of delicious, frothy, hot chocolate. You agree. My mask, your cup of delicious, frothy, hot chocolate.
  14. Actually it has been surprisingly civilized. Yeah there were some bits of hostility, which given the topic at hand is pretty much inevitable, but for the most part there has been some decent argumentation. all in all this could have gone a lot worse, and I for one feel slightly more aware of certain assumptions I make than I was before.
  15. Yeah, but at the same time you may want people to actually be able to tell that "yes, this character is a [x]" I sort of see your point though, specifically about reinforcing stereotypes. At the same time there is still purpose to, actually, I don't really disagree with most of what you're saying. Huh, I thought I actually had a counter argument to something here, but I don't. Not really. You win this round sir/ma'am/whatever, but just be careful. Not all audiences are as open minded as some of us here would like...
  16. Actually symbiotic caterpillar-like aliens, which cause a sensation similar to intoxication wherein the host has his inhibitions drastically lowered resulting in them coming off as awesome or unpleasant, often both at the same time. Rumoured to occasionally sprout wings and fly away, taking their hosts with them. Cinnamon raisin bagels
  17. Yeah, but what people should and what people will do are often two different things. I have two very good friends with whom I would sometimes walk to school. One was a guy, you could tell just by looking at his face and the growing mustache that he was a guy(that and the adam's apple and deep voice). My other friend was a girl who stands about a head shorter than me and does not look like society has trained to believe girls should look. Sure, I knew she was a girl, but my friend, well he assumed she was a guy. He was legitimately surprised when I referred to her using gender specific pronouns, a couple weeks/months after they first met. Yeah, he probably shouldn't have jumped to conclusions, but at thee same time our minds like to classify stuff. We base our initial assumptions on a combination of what we see and hear about a person, and unless we receive information proving our assumptions wrong we will believe them true. That's how people work. Should it be changed? I can't see the harm in improving it if possible, but removing all visual cues seems a rather rash decision imho. Look, we are looking at how to get the point across that Gali is a girl, using only the medium of the sets themselves. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, in which case we seem to be looking at how to make all the sets completely androgynous, in which case go right ahead, though I'm even more useless in that regard than the previous. Look, physically women are different than men. There are certain physical proportions that will be more common in one than the other, and if you are working in a primarily visual medium you need to figure out how to use those trends well, and how to use all the variable shapes within those trends, as well as when and where to break them. But seriously, attributing certain physical traits to be more common in women than men(and vice versa), if backed by real world evidence, is not inherently sexist. If you then take a trait and say all women/men have this trait(or conversely anyone without this trait is not a man/woman) then you have sexism, objectification perhaps, and would be just plain wrong.
  18. I steal your Wonderful Rage-Inducingly Magnificent Cape and wear it! I also brainwash a nearby herd of what appear to be rhinos to stampede you, allowing me to claim the mask My mask and Wonderful Rage-Inducingly Magnificent Cape.
  19. That's what it looks like, though the desert ones seem to have stinger-tails, which look like they should be usable to help pry a mask off of a target, like a bottle opener for your face
