  1. Well, Makuta certainly isn't in exile or regretting what he did. Kulta was actively receiving orders from him. In fact, I think Makuta is the one who awakened the dead skull villains in the first place. All of this was done to destroy his brother's mask of creation. Sorry to tear down half your theory. Its not personal. The fandom just can't ignore the facts in the story, that's all.
  2. What if this employee was just trolling a fandom . . . a very small fandom that is ultimately not Lego's target group. He could get away with it because the higher ups at that company probably don't watch TTV or go on message boards. This employee is "under the radar." I'm sure Lego cares about us, but they are focusing on young newcomers a whole lot more. On a side note, if the vahi is half of a mask, it should fuse with a mask of space, TO FORM THE MASK OF SPACETIME!!! ALLOWING THE USER TO WARP REALITY!!! IT WOULD BE KNOWN AS THE MASK OF . . . BENNY!!! SPACETIME!!! SPACETIME!!! SPACETIME!!! SPACETIME!!! Edit: Or maybe this employee had little to no idea what he was talking about. I don't think anyone on the current Bionicle team was previously a fan who knew the lore through and through. He probably only studied G1 minimally for that event he gave the interview in.
  3. If the toa come from space, does that make them Aliens? I don't think Lego would go with this direction. Maybe they are Godlike figures? Maybe Lego will go in the direction of Marvel's Thor, where there are several Realms. If they come from space, are they even the same species as the protectors?
  4. Lhikan (and the Toa Mangaia). Even though Lhikan isn't obscure, I always wanted to know more and more about this character, and what his personal adventures and challenges were.
  5. A group of con men go to a faraway tropical land looking for a magical treasure. They fool the natives there into thinking they are divine heroes. The Piraka or Miguel and Tulio? (Tulio and Miguel, mighty and powerful gods!)
  6. Two heroes gifted with powers fight for good in their universe. One of them is seduced by dark forces and his body is horribly altered. Lhikan/Nidhiki Obi-Wan/Anakin
  7. God gets brain cancer Magic drugs fall from the sky and then it gets weird
  8. Tahu . . . THE MASTAH OF FIYAAAAAAAAAAH! Tahu Nuva was my first toa ever, and my third set overall, so I had to start with Tahu '15 for the new generation of sets.
  9. T1 shadow: The artisan is right about Inika meaning "the energies of a star." In Bionicle Legends #3 on pages 49-50, Garan tells the Toa Inika they don't look like Toa Nuva. After Jaller answers they weren't Nuva, Farshtey writes, "He [Jaller] thought about the lightning bolts that had unleashed their powers, the glow of their faces behind their masks, the way their weapons radiated energy. Then he said, 'No, not Toa Nuva. Toa Inika.' The name caught the other Toa by surprise, but it made sense - inika was the Matoran word for 'the energies of a star.'" tl;dr Jaller picked the name for the team because of the meaning of the word. P.S. Somebody please remind me what "Nuva" and "Hordika" mean.
  10. Buzz saws can definitely be used to slice thru large slabs of stone. Having tools to slice through stone is something all tribes could benefit from, especially for cutting out bricks for large stone structures, like the temple of time, the Mask Making forge, and each villages' own buildings.
  11. Idk man. I feel like buzz saws would still be common to some of the other tribes.
  12. That could be. I was thinking it was another one of his mask making tools. Since he is basically a metal smith, he might use the buzz saw to cut out sheets of metal into shapes which he would "fold" into masks by using his HAMMAH UV POWAH. Idk why you would stick a rotary canon on something you use to smash metal with tho, it doesn't seem like the safest thing to do. Makuta probably realized Okoto was in the hands of a lunatic who ruled with a minigun on a stick. His one man revolution was completely called for. Anyway, if the buzz saw was a symbol of the ice tribe, and if Ekimu was showing his icy heritage/culture with the saw, wouldn't Ekimu's saw also be trans-blue? Trans blue saws are most likely unique to the Ice clan on Okoto, while silver buzz saws are common to everyone else. It's likely at least some of the other tribes have saws, especially the jungle tribe for all the thick foliage they have to cut thru. To distinguish itself as a symbol of the ice-tribe, their buzz saws would have to be trans-blue.
  13. Well . . . I wouldn't go so far as to say it RUINS the story. It's just fun to speculate and theorize, and sometimes those speculations turn out to be right. Maybe Ekimu does have a set element, or maybe doesn't. Who knows.
  14. Maybe Ekimu's element simply is creation. Perhaps the mask of creation simply allows him to unlock those powers, much like the G2 Toa need their elemental masks to unlock their powers.
  15. Its totally cool man. It happens to the best of us.
  16. Well, I never said they would have been the only ones. Since all the tribes once lived together in the Ancient City, we have to assume there was some mixing. That's practically a given. A) I take it you're not familiar with how genetics work. I have a friend from high school who looks like a spitting image of his dad (tall, dark hair, brown eyes, broad figure). His brother and sister, on the other hand, take after their mom (shorter, light hair, blue eyes, thin). Offspring don't have to look like a perfect combination of the parent genes--sometimes, they take after one or the other. Who says the same doesn't apply here? B) Possible, but considering that the tribes split up after Makuta's betrayal, and there have been multiple generations since then, any mixed-genes have likely been bred out most of the way by now, meaning they're not as common. Also, in the thousand years or so, the tribes likely adapted to better fit their chosen environments, meaning before, "tribe-traits" weren't as much of a thing as they are now. C) See previous answers. a) That is exactly what I said. The child villager would have to take after ONLY ONE of the parents. There has been zero evidence for villagers with mixed color schemes, features, etc. b) That is a very smart take. I was starting to think inter-tribe marriages were just taboo on Okoto. I like your idea that they were once common, but because the tribes were separated they each evolved with unique genotypes and phenotypes to suit their biome; This makes a lot of sense, especially since the villages are so far away and isolated from each other. Little to no mixing would be present because of the vast distances and uneasy travel methods. c) It is still possible that Ekimu and Makuta are the only mixed ones. Much like that mask maker law of keeping masks mono-elemental, there could have been a law saying that the villagers from different tribes could not mate.
  17. O.o Ahem, If they use my water/fire idea, I'm totally demanding royalties.
  18. There is something odd tho. Let's assume Ekimu and Makuta are in fact the sons of two villagers from the Earth and Ice tribes. Why are they the only ones? Are they even the only ones? What does a mixed-tribe Okotoan look like? Is their a law on Okoto banning inter-tribal families? We did see fire, water, and jungle villagers hanging out together in "The Legend" animation. I do not think we've ever seen a mixed family in one of the villages. What if a fire villager fell in love with an ice villager; could they survive in each other's biome? So many questions. If inter-tribal families are a thing Then either: a) the child can only carry the traits of one parent and would not look visibly mixed b) we haven't seen a mixed villager because its not common c) Ekimu and Makuta belong to the only inter-tribal family on Okoto This of course is speculation from the very little information provided by the first few episodes of the animations. Edit: If they bring back Takua, he should totally be a mixed water/fire villager. He wanders around the island cause he feels like he doesn't fit in anywhere.
  19. Well, the Mask of Creation was formed from "magic and solid gold" but nothing actually says Ekimu made it. Also, we don't know what kind of tech they had in the Ancient City, and some of that may have been able to preserve Ekimu's body for all those years. This would nullify any need for them being godlike, as it would have been external tech keeping him preserved, not an immortality--so there goes those questions. And we don't know the full extent of Okotoan history, so we have nothing to measure that by, All things considered, I imagine that the MoC and the Mask of Control were both forged long before Ekimu and Makuta ever came into the art. As for what gives them the longevity, if the MoC was imbued with magic, what if the same goes for the Mask of Control? Whatever magic was imbued into the masks might have extended their lifespans to an extent. Again, since we only have such limited insight into Okoto's history, we're just going by what we do know. On the contrary, those questions are still on the table - along with your new question: Does Okoto have life support technology? They are either immortal or they had some exterior force keeping them alive.
  20. I hypothesize that Makuta and Ekimu are similar to Romulus and Remus. I believe they belong to no tribe. Those two are certainly special compared to the normal Okoto villagers. Both have been in a coma for thousands of years with zero life support. They are immortal. Who knows how long they were alive before the creation of the MoUP. If they were born from two ordinary villagers, who gave them their immortality? A higher being? A magic substance? If this theory is to hold up, those questions need to be answered. Come to think of it, those questions need to be answered period, for any theory. Maybe Ekimu is the sky and the stars While Makuta is the Earth and the oceans They came together to forge the world. And/or maybe Ekimu is a patron-god like figure for half the tribes, while Makuta is a patron-god like figure for the other half. Or maybe Makuta and Ekimu are half-god and half-villager? Maybe they are half brothers, Ekimu's mother is an Ice villager while Makuta's mother is an Earth Villager Korgot's great grandmother birthed Makuta confirmed!
  21. Thank you bonesiii for clearing my questions up. And yes, I did mean protowater and I did mean "bending" as in control. I did read the earlier posts, I was just positing a new theory on the distinction between Earth and Stone.
  22. I haven't read Greg's work in a long time. I will always love Time Trap and the rest of the Bionicle Adventures series. What always bothered me though is how much control he had over the lore in the later years. I might be wrong, but sometimes I feel like most fans treat his word as the be-all and end-all of the Bionicle canon. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. It felt like he really changed the premise Thompson, Faber, Swinnerton, and Anderson came up with to suit his own interests. Bionicle started as a mythological adventure about heroes fighting gods and beasts and then ended as a fantasy war epic with many factions and conspiracies. It felt like a Greek Myth that decided it wanted to be the next Lord of the Rings instead. Neither is better or worse than the other, of course. I don't blame Greg for pursuing his interests in story direction and I'm not against change, but I just wish he hadn't completely overlooked the older fans who's favorite part of Bionicle story were the mythic/tribal elements. One big change that is an example of this huge tonal shift (and one that is constantly referenced) is Makuta's portrayal. I liked Makuta as a vengeful God who tortured an entire people over his petty jealousy. This Makuta felt more human to me than how he was later depicted: a cold, calculating, scheming mastermind who was always 10 steps ahead of everyone else and had 42 powers that he always forgot to use around the toa. But that being said, obviously Bionicle was never just for the older fans. The entire fandom owes a lot to Greg. He kept it going on as long as he could and gave a lot of fans, new and old alike, a childhood that is irreplaceable because of his stories and characters. I will always have fond memories of going to the bookstore to see if the newest novel was out yet. I may not like every story decision he made, but I am still deeply grateful for his giant contributions.
  23. How redundant are the elements? Nokama can bend both water and protodermis. Assuming she's not a special amongst Water Toa, that would mean all "water toa" are not restricted to bending just water. Would this include lava? Can Onua and Pohatu bend lava, since its just melted stone? Can Gali and Lewa both bend steam? Certainly Kopaka and Tahu both bend temperature. Do Lewa and Kopaka share control over the weather? I think we draw too much attention on the stone vs earth debate because those two elements are clearly redundant. But when you really think about it, the elemental restrictions were never clear cut. All of the toa's "jurisdictions" over their respective elements overlapped. Earth vs stone is not special, its just the most obvious. So really, I don't see a difference in Pohatu's and Onua's powers. https://youtu.be/sTrcmx8a3EM?t=2m36s Onua is just green, and Pohatu is just dusty. https://youtu.be/pyZS3BCnw8w?t=53m32s That is clearly not a clod of soil. Idk. Maybe one toa controls sediment and the other controls pure minerals? Edit: meh, I don't like the sediment/mineral idea. I honestly would prefer the in story explanation to be that the Element Lords were just fooling around with the elemental categories/tribes.
  24. I think they should have woken Mata Nui at the end of '03 and then they could have still done their prequel years in Metru Nui and then after that they could still have the Piraka on Voya Nui (or some other island), but now without all the convoluted baggage they needed to keep the mata nui saga going on for so long.
  25. Idk dude. But I have the answer you seek! Straight from Alastair Swinnerton himself: http://alastairswinnerton.com/2015/09/07/bionicle-my-actual-part-in-its-origins/ In this blogpost of his, he says: " And so my four original main heroes became Tahu (fire), Lewa (air), Gali (water) and Onua (earth). The four elements. It wasn’t exactly an original way to create four heroes, but Lego seemed to like it . . . They also wanted two more heroes, largely because they had six different-coloured production lines, and thus Kopacka and Pohatu were born."
