  1. I know it has already been said but what the hey, I will say it with a picture Little stickman there sums it up nicely, just add more emphasis on the closer arm and it would look nicer. Not that is doesn't look nice.
  2. You are being fooled by the great coloring. the figures are flat. it is merely the amount of shading on it that makes certain parts appear 3-Dimensional. I felt like adding to my previous edit. Link so as to not waste this post. I am not wrong with what I say, even if You like the piece or find me unpleasant. I mean no harm in my words, I only come across as I do because I have seen vezok's work for years. Similar trends appeared and have stayed for a lack of taking critism / learning / applying the basics to his work. I merely point out what I see and how to improve it. I will admit the shading is good. As I have said it does hide many flaws. But the fact remains the lineart of the piece. the figures alone. No shading. Are very wrong. I have isolated one of the figures linearts to properly show how flawed it is Link There is a general lack of direction and orientation from the lines at play. This should all become obvious when the line art stands by itself without the color.
  3. I use photoshop and my mouse. nothing more special than that. I am familiar with paint though, and its abilities. It takes time to make good art in it, but it does not mean it is impossible by any means. Keep at it though, Fixing mistakes now will make you better in the future.
  4. We have been over this before. I see things in your art that have become bad habits. Link I got tired of scribbling on this, cause honestly i'd be here mainly all day. Things go from 3D to 2D with no rhyme or reason. Nothing is kept with proper alignments. armor designs get forgotten because of that trend. Look, We both know you have skill. A great amount of skill. But you choose to rush the beginning processes and it results in a work that looks good but is inherently nothing but flaws. Your color does do a great deal to hide flaws in this piece. Most eyes wont see them. But my eyes do. You drew the entire thing mainly as a complete 2-Dimensional set. you did not consider or did not care about actually designing anything here as though it was 3-dimensional, and it shows. because of this your figures remain flat and carboard like. as i said already things are not drawn properly because of the trend. and if anyone pays attention it looks as though all the figures are connected. there is no depth. nothing to seperate them. in fact your very feild of view shows us that this is a 2d drawing set in a 3d world in need of help. all the feet are flat, but the ground has perspective. This shows the great flaw of the piece. One that results in the whole thing needed redrawn and no amount of corrections would help it.
  5. This sums up my thoughts There is a great deal wrong with the initial body design. and from there stems more problems than i can shake a stick at. try to focus on improving basic things and then the rest shall fall better into place.

    Art Dump

Link so some things. -lights on the head are no where near symetrical. -centerlines are slightly off resulting in... -misplaced/mishaped body -certain areas do need a 3-dimensional look Now where the sketchy style can be good, these drawings of yours are too sketchy to make out much of anything, thus it makes it very hard to help with corrections. I do see talent here, but it is talent that needs some restraint and some patience to make good things happen. And I also note that you know something about photoshop, which ultimately raises my expectations of what you can do. If you can edit in a background like that, you can also clean up your art to match it. All I can say for now. Keep at it.
  7. I'm absolutely certain they will. Thanks [a bunch!] for taking the time to review my work, it's really not every day that I get such an indepth critique, and I'm definitely going to use them in future works. Again, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to do this. It is what I do. So do not even mention it.
  8. You are now a cartoon drawing of an Elven Biomancer. Have fun with that. I wish for 1 million dollars.
  9. My Thoughts hopefully they serve you well for learning and improving in the future.
  10. I would giev you c&c but there is not much to say the chibi's proportions seem fine enough and the coloring is good as well. About all I can say is keep it up.
  11. Cute picture, wonderful shading. all minor errors I will let slide this time. but i am sure you know the knees are the problem anyways Wonderful work though Keep it up.
  12. I see some nice art.poses could use some creativity but its all goodand away I go
  13. If you have a problem with the club, PM a Curator [The Dark Knight or Ratsel Feinschmecker]. If you want to criticize an MOC; do so in their topic. What Ratsel Feinschmecker [ballom] said is true.
  14. Do forgive the insanely long delay. Entry: Member Name: Captain Cool Entry Name: Nuhvok Kal Topic Link: None Category: MOC Explanation: Nuhvok Kal has Power over gravity, but why should it only use it for offense? My Kal has the ability to manipulate the gravity around it and change its own form! This allows for a elongated and more agile fighting form, but still allows it to use its classic ball form when it doesn't need to cover long distances or smash through walls.
  15. Captain Cool simply cannot resist Cool things, and this contest is definitely cool! However Captain Cool needs to ask questions before Captain Cool enters. Captain Cool has created a new kind of 'Nuhvok Kal', one that doesnt have just two forms but three! 1 - 2 - 3 Captain Cool Needs to know if this is allowed.
  16. Nice art. The cloak is good, but I also want you to draw out the cloak alone, without anyone in it. Then tell me what you think of it. Cloaks are funny things... In one sense they are just over sized capes with hoods, but what you have here is sort of a hooded robe. Personally I think you should just have it rolling off his shoulders and where his sword arm is exposed also show off his flaming body. Seems more sinister that way if you ask me. Orion is pretty good, but a bit flat. Not a big issue for a conceptual piece. I do have to inquire, how is his shoulder armor kept on his shoulders?
  17. Whoo! I won I couldn't decide what color to make it, but I guess it works because it looks like you like lots of colors
  18. Ready to roll out! http://www.majhost.com/gallery/specialproject73d/Storage/Avatars/nuju_metru_avatar.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/specialproject73d/Storage/Avatars/nuju_metru_banner.jpg Enjoy.

    Even Madder

I'm late, and I know you already fixed the problem... But this still Feel's relevant... The System is down Enjoy.
  20. I agree with MOSM on that. I am still stuck at one
  21. Hmmm... a contest about banners/avatars. Well, I used to be into the graphical arts... wait... I never got out from under it's evil thumb! =o Anyways I would like just to help you get more banners and avis. I don't really care if I win or not. Although if I have a chance why not go for it right? However I have a few questions. 1.) Am I allowed to heavily edit the Album image? 2.) do you mind if I call you Mr. Metru? 3.) I am not familiar with my Beatles Albums... Is there any one in particular you would like to see done Mr. Metru? 4.) If you could be any color what would you be? 5.) Do you like text? 6.) Is asking all these questions unfair?

    Final Polls

Holy what'cha ma call it!, I am in the finals?! (I follow my own work so well) I haven't cast any votes yet, so I think I will continue not to do so. I think it makes the contest more fun this way anyhow. Although I must say I feel honored just to be in the line up. This was a really fun contest win or lose, and I am have to say it was rather enjoyable, and I think you should do these kinds of contests more often.
  23. I only just found this entry, I hope you do not mind if I comment on it even though it is old. I see your points very well and I agree with a lot of what you say, but then again there is the other side. I personally do not think the the BZ community is as smart as you give them credit for. First let me say creativity is a dangerous word to play with, as all great general words are. Yes I agree and many times even encourage strange mocs with interesting color schemes because they do stand out and are nice to look at. Lime-Green, silver and blue... Right on! However I have trouble seeing what is creative about someone taking a basic toa and switching the mask and weapon and calling it an amazing new moc. Sometimes there need to be a higher level of thought than just the first thing that enters a person's head. I myself create a lot of things, but sometimes the first one is not inventive or 'good' enough to be final, and I think this is where many people get a disconnect. Sometimes you have a good idea, but you have to work on it, expand it and refine it by using real world examples and functions. That doesn't mean your design has to be any less fanciful or creative, but some designs do need tweaking. To expand upon that thought, I myself have followed many of the 'guidelines' and created just another guy with a sword (well with my posts anyway). However I do have creativity with those basic designs and I always bring a differently and creatively designed 'person' to the table. Strangely many times I get completely different ends of the spectrum on mocs I feel are terribly similar. (4 replies compared to 2 pages worth of comments.) To say it is just creativity or the design 'guidelines' does not seem right. There is something more happening when people cannot get replies. I also will agree that the community probably does see it's fair share of people with swords, and that may be part of the issue. However stepping out of that box does not always reward the person with a nice result. In fact many times I think people do not know what to say about strange creations and choose not to reply. That being said I would like to move on to the art forum. The art forum is really truly something else. You cannot, and should not compare any image there to another. I myself cannot and have not seen a rhyme or reason for what happens there. It does not always matter if you are inventive/creative or following the trend. What happens there seems to flow more along the lines of who is known as a good artist. It is not exactly that though, I will admit it, but that is what I have noticed myself. You can post those action packed scenes, use great skill and foreshortening, a wide array of colors and design and get only 3 replies. On the other hand you can do just a front view of a character as a sketch and get two pages worth of comments. I really cannot and will not believe that creativity or even skill has anything to do with getting replies in the art forum. As for the post as a whole. Beautiful writing, great message to be more accepting about differences, and exploring creativity, however I myself think you need to amend this blog and add the phrase "Too human" along side "more customz". To me that seems more proper especially since I have been told a few times, "people do not go to the art forum to see people, but mechanical monsters in action" and have gotten that as a few posts in my topics. To me that is a big waste of creativity, because although you see human's everyday you can really make some stand out and interesting bionicle characters. Well those are just my thoughts. Again sorry they are so late compared to the original post date, but I do not often read/find blogs as they didn't even exist when I first came here, and I have trouble navigating them because they look really different than other blog sites. Admittedly I should look through more, and yours is on my list as it has some very nice detailed and interesting thoughts.
  24. I saw this little shin dig going on and I thought... you know that looks cool. So count me in My Entry Enjoy.
  25. Hey, thanks for the comment about the 'hero'. I wouldn't mind the topic getting closed to be honest. But I have spent a lot of time on my art which is why it looks so good, but nothing I do is so extraordinary that you yourself couldn't do with practice.
