  1. Umbra. Just weird, man.
  2. From my vague memories of regularly visiting Ghost's website back in the day, I believe they made the animations in Maya.
  3. Untitled spider tank Untitled rover for Febrovery Matilda (of Robot Wars fame) Gallery VIC-R 'The Officiator' (part of a collab with some other hot boys & gamer girls here's the gallery) (yo is there a way to centre-align images in blogs)
  4. To add to Mister N's post above; the Vahi was the first mask to be created by Lego and was used as a placeholder in other media, including this early test video posted by Advance:

  7. Hey folks, not sure if this is allowed here so feel free to close this topic if necessary. I'm making instructions for a couple of MOCs but all the digital building tools I've tried seem to be lacking certain pieces. I'm after set-accurate, size-accurate 3D models for these pieces in .obj, .dat or .ldr file formats: Turaga Vakama staff Turaga Onewa hammer Kohrak shield Nuhvok shield Models with connectivity already assigned are preferable, but I can set up connectivity myself if need be. Any help you folks can offer will be much appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Valendale is correct; specifically, those are Millennium / Millennia (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=5688#T=S&O={"iconly":0}) and Blaster (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=8523-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0}).
  9. Just thought I'd add my comments: I saw the Mask of Light fireworks at Legoland Windsor in 2003 and my memory is pretty much the same as Darth Jaller's post. Don't remember any projections (I was it from the harbour stage, but as with most firework displays at Windsor there were multiple stages throughout the park to watch the fireworks from, so there might have been projections elsewhere in the park). I do remember a voiceover conversation between Hahli and Vakama playing over the speakers, and that each stage had a big model of the Avohkii on it. (I might have old camcorder footage of the show on a VHS tape somewhere...) I also have vague memories of the Onua statue near the entrance to the park - if anyone has any good pictures of it I'd love to see it! Windsor also had a 'Bionicle Baguette Bar' (or some other similar name) at one point, possibly in 2003. It wasn't really anything to write home about, sadly - just an outdoor cafe with a few stone totem poles with carvings of the six Great Kanohi from 2001 (which may or may not have been actual stone). I think it was near where the mazes were, and I don't think it lasted very long before being removed. In addition to the other brick-built statues mentioned by Darth Jaller, there was also definitely a Kalmah one, and possibly an Antroz one - though I might have just imagined the latter...
  10. A wizard did it. (Honestly though, I have no idea why Nokama chose her trident. At least we have an answer for Vakama's launcher.)
  11. Alright bud, here's what you do: Upload your MOC pics to an image hosting website, like Flickr, Imgur or Brickshelf Once the images are uploaded, copy the URL of each image - for example, www.flickr.com/yourmochere Click the Edit button on your first post in this topic, and paste the URL of each image into your post inside tags - for example: [img=www.flickr.com/yourmochere] You've gotta make sure the images match BZP's size limit (which I've forgotten, unfortunately) but I think Imgur and Flickr resize them for you automatically.
  12. Have any of the people behind Bionicle ever gone on record with the things that inspired its creation? There are a few obvious ones (Mata Nui being based on Rapa Nui and straight-up stealing Maori names, Glatorian culture being loosely based on Roman gladiators, that one prototype 2008 Miru that looked like Master Chief's helmet) but I'm curious to know if there are any other cultural references hidden in Bionicle (and if the creators have ever confirmed them.) For example, back in 2002, BZP's product reviews for the Bahrag and Exo-Toa mentioned the parallels between them and the Xenomorph queen/power loader mech fight in the film Aliens. I've also always wondered if the story team based the Toa Mata's arrival on Mata Nui on The Iron Man by Ted Hughes (the book that The Iron Giant film is based on). In the opening of the book, the titular character breaks into pieces as he falls down a cliff, then reassembles his body parts on the beach below. There are a few other minor parallels which are probably just coincidences; the origins of both the Iron Man and the Toa Mata aren't explained (at least the latter wasn't until 2008), and the last body part the Iron Man replaces is his head (while the last thing the Toa replace are their masks). Have you folks spotted any possible references/influences in Bionicle yourselves?
  13. I think it's worth noting that the soundtracks were released under Nathan Furst's name - I would imagine Lego had very little input in the decision to release them, besides giving Furst the permission to doBu But they did show they still care for releasing the soundtracks, I don't know how this types of business works, but I assume Lego did play a major role on the decision of finally releasing the official soundtracks, I think a "no" would've affected their release to the point where they simply wouldn't be released. I understand what you are saying though, I guess we could only hope this is a good sign that is hinting to something better (that being the themes return in the coming years). I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that. Nathan Furst owns the copyright to all his music (through his record label, Rising Phoenix Records), so I don't think Lego actually has a say in whether he sells it or not. This. I'd imagine Furst had to get Lego's permission to use the Bionicle name and logo on the releases, but other than that I don't think Lego will have had much input on the whole thing. (It's perhaps worth noting that on the album artwork for the soundtrack releases, there's no trace of Lego's logo anywhere.)
  14. Ballom speaks the truth. Unfortunately, it makes very little business sense to relaunch a line which only just got revived in the last few years, and got cancelled due to disappointing sales numbers. I think it's worth noting that the soundtracks were released under Nathan Furst's name - I would imagine Lego had very little input in the decision to release them, besides giving Furst the permission to do so.
  15. Would the Skopio set count as a spider?
  16. Absolutely - for the Manas, they had to design a bespoke RC brick and remote, design production moulds for the plastic parts of the RC brick and remote, source the electronic components, find a way of mass-installing the electronic components within the plastic parts on the production line, etc. Consider this: even if the Vezon and Kardas set had used Power Functions parts (which came out a year later, but let's pretend they came out in 2006 for argument's sake), a full set of two PF M motors, a PF battery box, a PF IR reciever and a PF transmitter still retails for about $47.50. And that's just one set of RC parts - the Manas had two RC bricks and remotes per set! EDIT: Never mind, I'm a dum-dum - the price would be far closer to $110. Not sure how I screwed up so badly with the math...
  17. It's worth noting that the electronics in the Manas set would have considerably bumped up the production costs (and the subsequent RRP). If the Vezon and Kardas set had included some sort of RC control, we'd probably be looking at $170 at least. EDIT: Never mind, I'm a dum-dum - the price would be far closer to $110. Not sure how I screwed up so badly with the math...
  18. - A revamp of set 8257 with a lot more punch. -
  19. For the purposes of the contest, does this part count as System or Technic? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3941&name=Brick,%20Round%202%20x%202%20with%20Axle%20Hole&category=%5BBrick,%20Round%5D#T=C
  20. This doesn't necessarily mean we'll never see Overwatch figures, though. I'd be very surprised if they didn't at least trial a small line of them, similar to the old Marvel Ultrabuild line.

    Steamed Kau

I think in this scenario, Skinner is definitely Pohatu and Chalmers is definitely Kopaka.
  22. This is interesting, because the version of Bionicle Heroes released on he Nintendo DS was a first person shooter. I wonder if they started developing the DS version while the version on other platforms was still first-person?
