  1. Flintsmith was making purple Kaukaus back then too, as can be seen in this archived topic from 2004: https://web.archive.org/web/20050125073621/http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=130868
  2. Fighting crime with dusty wheels. (Seriously, these things pick up so much dust, and it's so stubborn trying to remove it!) This was originally going to be either a Drome Racers car or an Ultra Agents car, but it ended up as a Batmobile. Shoutout to a friend for supplying the minifigs.

Many moons ago, before I got into building MOCs, I spent most of my BZPower time posting terrible, terrible art. Some sketches, but mostly 'edits' (read: usually me slapping a posterise filter on set images and calling it a day). Sadly (thankfully?) all my old artwork got eaten when Majhost disappeared. One edit was called Mirage. This is a remake of that, with some higher-res source images and a sun and buried Kanohi thrown in there too. Can you spot a certain hero in the middle? All bonkle art assets were taken from the 2001-2003 Style Guide CD files, which you can find on BioMedia Project. (The desert pic is a royalty-free image from Pexels.com.)
  4. https://soundcloud.com/hi-guys-its-disty/powerless-wip Back again with another bonkle-inspired music composition. This one is a bit more cinematic - it's intended to convey the Toa Nuva's sense of impotence, frustration and shame at losing their elemental powers during the Bohrok Kal saga. This was originally created for the Tales of the Amaja collab album, but I chose not to submit it for the final tracklist. https://bioniclefanmusicteam.bandcamp.com/album/tales-of-the-amaja
  5. I suspect this is one of those questions that has already been posted and answered many times before, but I couldn't find anything via BZP's search box, so here goes. BS01 tells me this is a pic of Zakaz before the Civil War. Except, it's absolutely definitely a picture of Le Metru - the details are identical. What gives? I know Scholastic were notorious for image selection errors, and I suspect this is a result of an error in one of their books - but if that's the case, why has this very obvious error been accepted by the wiki as canon? EDIT: Oh, how about that - Onu-Metru is pretending to be Zakaz too...
  6. Built in collaboration with fellow BZP member DanielBrickSon2. He built the monster and I built the oil refinery he's attacking. Hope you enjoy!
  7. Is one of the two MOCs allowed to consist of several unconnected elements (such as an army of creatures or a collection of buildings, for example)?
  8. soundcloud.com/hi-guys-its-disty/at-the-mouth-of-mangaia https://youtu.be/_tlvCkLCHEY Made for the brand new collab album Tales of the Amaja. If you fancy taking a listen (and if you do, you're in for a treat), you can stream and download for free from Bandcamp at bioniclefanmusicteam.bandcamp.com/album/tales-of-the-amaja. Thanks to Skip and the team for making it all happen!

  10. G3 will never happen. But to answer the question - I think the main problem with G2 was that it was stuck between trying to nostalgia-bait older fans and bring in new, younger fans (younger than the old fans were back in 2001, too). I think a G3 would have to go the whole hog either way - a full modern recreation of G1 with Rahi, Bohrok, Rahkshi etc, or a completely new story and completely new characters (at which point you may as well call it something other than Bionicle). This will also never happen, but I'd love them to ditch CCBS. I find it so awkward to build with! I wouldn't want a totally System-based G3, but I would like to see more playsets as I think the world-building in G1 was fantastic and seeing more locations in set form would be great.
  11. But if the hole from Voya Nui's ejection was around for centuries, wouldn't Karda Nui's dome have completely filled with water, so eventually the water level would have gone up to flood the southern continent too? Or was the dome of Karda Nui just massive? Thanks for the answers by the way, guys! Much appreciated.
  12. This is a little off-topic, but I've always been a little confused by Voya Nui: - I know it went flying out of the GSR during the Great Cataclysm, but what exactly caused this? And why didn't it happen to any other locations in the GSR's domes? - If Voya Nui essentially broke through the 'ceiling' of the southern continent's dome, how was the island and its inhabitants not destroyed by the impact? - When Voya Nui flew out of the GSR, it created a hole in the southern continent's dome which caused water to flood inside the GSR - so doesn't that mean that when it was returned to the southern continent, there was still a massive hole in the southern continent's dome and water would have flooded over Voya Nui? (Also, wouldn't the southern continent have been completely submerged itself by then?) - Where was The Pit in all of this? Presumably its dome was located directly underground Voya Nui's place in the southern continent and above Karda Nui? Also, what exactly is the Sea Gate listed on that map?
  13. Wentlandt Motorcycle Group 'Coyote' - Desert Cruiser If you're a country boy at heart, the barren wastleland of District 18's southern border is your playground. Just keep an eye on your fuel tank gauge - because if you run out, you won't be making it home alive. - Shinrai Technologies 'Burrower' - Mining Transport A tough, reliable workhorse for the harsh conditions of District 18's mining industry. - Shinrai Technologies 'Panda' - Patrol Chaser A supercharged police speeder for hunting down on-foot offenders. Better not break District 18's curfew, or one of these will be coming for you... - Boscome 'Wrangler' - Salvaged Utility Speeder With most current-gen models protected by DNA recognition and remote kill-switch security, District 18's local street gangs rely on obsolete bikes - either salvaged or stolen, and often modified for extra speed - in order to get around. - Jepsen-Kuhn 'Honeybee' & Shinrai Technologies 'Gecko' - High-Performance Racing Craft Originally an outsider sport of questionable legality, speeder bike racing is now officially sanctioned in District 18 - but echoes of the sport's former punk ethos remain in the drivers' attitudes, behaviour and fashion style. - All bikes built for the 2018 Lego Speeder Bikes Contest on Flickr. Not likely to win as there's a lot of great entries out there, but I had fun making them!
  14. I think the words 'dead' and 'dying' are too open to interpretation. To me, BZPower the forum has been long dead; the number of active users, new topics and new blog posts per day has plummeted, there are less contests and activities on the forums to get involved with, and most of the people I used to interact with are no longer active on the forum (if they even visit at all). Other people may see the forum as still active; we probably do get more daily posts here than a lot of forums these days, and I'm sure certain subforums see more activity than others. (I think the date you joined also plays into your perception of the forum's health - those who joined later might not have seen a huge difference compared with those who joined in the forum's heyday.) Here's what I see as the facts: Any forum is going to be less active in the age of social media and instant messagingAny fandom community is going to be less active once the subject of said fandom has officially concluded (and has little chance of coming back)Any fandom community based on a children's franchise is going to be less active once those fans have grown into adults with less interest in the franchise, more responsibilities, less time etcJust because a forum is 'dead' or 'dying', it doesn't mean that the communities and sub-communities that forum built aren't still active on social media and other platforms (and even IRL events such as conventions)
  15. So as a kid, I had a version of the Triumph of the Toa comic which I've later discovered was actually comics 2 and 3 condensed into one. This comic was listed as number 2 on the cover, but otherwise it had the same cover as comic 3. I'm pretty sure I received the comic with one issue of the UK's Lego Club magazine (or whatever it was called back then). I'm posting about this 1) because I'm hoping someone will be able to corroborate my story and 2) there doesn't seem to be any mention of this version of the comic on the BS01 wiki. I may still have the comic, so I'll see if I can dig it out and take some pictures.

  17. It was Coolio. (actually I have no idea, I'll go investigate)
  18. Thanks! You're absolutely right about the crane arm, it was originally longer and more elaborate but I had to change it to stop the unbalanced weight screwing with the motor. Nearly forgot the video! https://youtu.be/GYH8SmgAblg
  19. A ridiculous racing truck built for the Eurobricks Technic Contest 12. (We can mention other forums now, right?) Features drive and skid steering via 2 L motors, a spinning crane via an XL motor, illuminated headlights and full RC control. Video coming soon!
  20. I thought they were great! The 2006 playsets didn't really appeal to me, but the 2005 models in particular were really interesting and fun to play with. I do wish the 2007 sets had more accurate minifigs, though.
  21. What about small CCBS Star Wars sets - either chibi versions of characters, or sets depicting smaller characters like Wookies, Jawas, droids etc?
  22. Umbra. Definitely Umbra. Except I didn't get that set, so I can't judge. (Except I can, because it's Umbra.) Bitil and Ehlek were both sets that looked really cool in promo shots, but really quite awkward and bland in the flesh. On the plus side, I felt the exact opposite with Gorast - bought the set not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised!
  23. I don't really see what the issue is. As Pohaturon said, their tracks would presumably work for swimming. Perhaps in real-life physics they wouldn't actually work like that, but since when has Bonkle followed real-life physics?
  24. I didn't have this with my Nuparu set, but I did have a similar correction insert in my Manas set. I can't remember exactly, but it was either a beam listed in the instructions as a different colour to the actual set, or the instructions showing the track wheels in the wrong hole (which would have stretched the tracks too tight).
