  1. This year's theme is "Love", and if nobody else is going to use this to bring in gay LEGO, then I sure as heck am.
  2. I think a more likely explanation for the exposed axles on the Mask of Ice and the Mask of Earth is just the shape of the source material. Both the Akaku and the Pakari were very flat masks, with little backwards swooping at the top compared to the Hau or Kaukau. This flatness was retained in the final masks, resulting in the top of the mask not covering the axles at the sides. (Granted, since Skull Basher would be wearing the mask, it's possible it's an intentional choice for the Mask of Earth that just happened to align with the natural shape of the mask, but since Skull Warrior is hornless, I don't see any practical reason for it for the Mask of Ice.)
  3. Whichever you choose, in order to make something worthwhile you will need to completely break the mold of what has been standard for over a decade in each forum. Do you have the sheer creative willpower to break those molds? Or will your works fall in line with the mass-produced content that currently reigns supreme?
  4. "It sure is the Jetrax, but yellow."
  5. That's probably because this video (unlike the Toa character videos we had before) seems to be cut entirely from the actual episodes. A video made of original footage probably could have had a more cohesive narrative and crammed in more action. Yeah, I realized that was my other problem with it. It lacks structure, and feels a little chaotic. I wish they had made a new video with a consistent narrative, but I guess there must have been some obstacle to that.
  6. I kinda wish he did more than jumping around maniacally, and some more villainous music would be nice. still, kinda neat to see him in action, and i like the more villainous take on the head.
  7. I'd really rather not; it would mean far less weapon diversity than we currently have. Sure, the current launchers allow for more diversity than, say, the Cordak Blasters, or Nynrah Ghost Blasters, or even the Zamor sphere launchers, but i still feel like it would be an unnecessary limitation. Plus, I tend to prefer the Toa with more traditional weapons.
  8. The term "trans-clear" feels redundant to me. Like, I understand it's to differentiate it from other translucent colors, but the term "clear" seems to imply translucence/transparency already.
  9. Wow, I can't believe Brickfair VA is in a week already! Especially since there are still preparations I'd been putting off. Like bus tickets! Just bought those today, which means they ended up more expensive than I had planned. With those, though, I've at least got the basics ready. I've got the tickets, the room, and the MOCs. (Well, besides a Love theme vignette I wanted to make; that's gonna be a bit last-minute.) Still, it feels like I've got so little time to prepare! Still excited, though. This is my first big serious AFOL even type thing. A little anxious! But we'll see. I hope to see some friends there!
  10. i can't believe NASA faked BZPower
  11. that's nice and all but completely irrelevant to the discussion of what they are in canon
  12. Pretty sure that's supposed to be the result of the shockwave from the hammer.
  13. Well, it's more intuitive than the Elves alphabet (which i now dub the Elfabet), and probably about as intuitive as the original Matoran was.
  14. Yes, I am definitely letting the 13-year-old tell me what it's like to be an adult.
  15. I would have expected the Mask of Fire, given how iconic it is, but I guess this works. At least it's not the Mask of Jungle.
  16. http://i.imgur.com/X1zhBVU.png this one could be faked as well, I suppose, but at least it gives us a page number to look for to verify it independently.
  17. Well, to be fair, not sounding like an existing language could be the point; the debacle from 2001 is probably one they don't care to repeat.
  18. Of all the Protectors to be female, I'm glad it's the one with the gatling gun chest.
  19. The shadows on some of the planets are slanting down; the light source can't be below the horizon. And if we are not to accept the animations' depiction as canon, then the burden of proof is still on the side of "they're on a dome". So far, we have absolutely nothing to suggest anything in this topic is remotely true of the new story. Meanwhile, we have carvings of planets seen from above, suggesting actual planets orbiting an actual star, which is something in canon you already need to work against while having nothing for your side. In fact, it's already working against something we already know: this story is a reboot. A true reboot, by the actual definition of the word. Taken from the top. No. Connection.
  20. It should be, else who will take care of the person who has no children in their old age? Last I checked, here in the 21st century, we have handy facilities where caring people can take care of old folks. (That also seems like a very selfish and dehumanizing reason to have kids but that's just me.)
  21. He was using his staff, wasn't he? That seems to be their primary means of defense. If the Protector of Fire's use of his blaster in the animations is anything to go by, their blasters are strong enough to hold off a horde of skull spiders.
  22. Well, if there's one thing we can rule out from the screens fishers posted, it's that; light shone on them as though they were spheres, not flat images on domes. I mean, the light shouldn't have been shining on them at all, but I think we can rule out images on a dome.
  23. I think the lack of unity is what's bugging me the most (though frickin' Bingzak isn't helping). These don't sound like names that came from a language. They sound like made-up names. They sound like a kid needed to name some space pirates, so he tossed some syllables together. It's fine if you're a kid making up names, or if they all come from completely separate areas of the universe or something, but Korgot, Vizuna, and Narmoto do not sound like they come from the same island. Maybe I just need some time to adapt? But for now, I can't say I'm that impressed.
  24. Hoo boy, those names are going to take some getting used to. Also a little disappointed they're all dudes, but, well, it was to be expected.
