  1. Tahu Mistika. *drops mic and walks away*
  2. Best: Destral Cycle hands down I loved it way more than the powered up Jetrax T6 it was made from, it was awesome! Closely followed by of course Kardas, and also Pit War Tortoise and Manutri, those two I thought were really cool and honestly would have been fantastic sets in their own right. The Mana Ko goes here too just for the function alone. I loved it and I had so much fun driving it around with its hands grabbing for things like masks off of Toas' faces. Worst: Gate Guardian followed closely by Kranua, Protodax, and Spiriah. The Turaga and Matoran combiners were terrible but were actually not too shabby given what they had to work with so I won't include them here.
  3. I am rather surprised by this. I found the LEGO Movie game to be the worst of the Telltale LEGO games. It wasn't terrible, it just felt mediocre. One of the strangest things in the game to me were the gender exclusive abilities. Overall it just didn't have that spark that the other games had and it's not just because the others were licensed themes. The movie on the other hand, was awesome and deserves every award it gets and more.
  4. Wow, this beats the heck out of the foam Akaku and Avohkii my dad made for me for Halloween when I was a kid, very nice work!
  5. I don't remember that... I believe he is referring to Quest for the Toa for Gameboy Advanced, it allowed you to change the colors of your Matoran but it still had a Pakari and story-wise it was Takua but you could rename him.
  6. I would like more non humanoid characters as well as variations on humanoid builds like four arms, tails, wings, dinosaur-like legs(not sure what the proper term for that look is, you see it a lot in fantasy genre stuff), etc. I would like to see creature types that we haven't seen before as well as no or fewer insects. I feel like constraction has beat that theme to death. We need more reptiles and feline or even lycan characters and creatures. Personally, I would love to see the dinosaurs we never got for 2010 but that would be rather unlikely. Creative color schemes and unique character design is a must though for anything. I would also love to see more creative and unconventional weapons and certainly minimizing the use of metallic colors as much as possible.
  7. I think they feel it's a sign of things to come. This year's Toa were SOOOOOOOOOOOO good, not just as sets but in terms of character design, it's going to be reeeally hard to somehow make them look even cooler or more iconic, or even as much, next time. They're worried that we've started off with such a bang, it can only go downhill from here. Well I think things might get even better starting 2016, the fact that all the protectors have the same mask (as well as other signs of cost cutting) goes to show that lego is probably limiting how much money they're pumping into it, which makes sense considering the fact there's no guarantee of success, but if these things sell well (and from what I'm hearing they are) I think we can expect a lot more new molds next year (not to mention an overall bigger budget) so I'm still pretty confident that gen 2 won't go the way of gen 1 for a long time. It is unfortunate the second wave is much smaller but that is likely due to the Star Wars constraction sets likely eating half the constraction budget. Unless we get more of them next year, I think the waves will be more balanced in 2016. I kind of hope that it's just a change of armor, but quite possibly. In fact, almost certainly. I would much rather the Toa stay the same. From 2001-fall 2002 we had the Mata, and the after that the Nuva remained the same until 2008. I don't think they need to be changed as they are essentially based off of their Mata and Nuva forms already. It would be better to introduce more characters to the story instead of rehash the same ones every year with new bodies. That got tiresome, especially if the characters get really awesome forms that are only used for one year. I predict the Toa will remain the same for this 3 year arc with new characters, even perhaps a Toa of Light, added to the mix. Hero Factory did a great job for the most part keeping the main characters similar to their previous incarnations and I think if they do remake the Toa every year, they will still stay true to their characters at least. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but hey LEGO has to sell toys not story. To summarize; they should continue to use this Toa team for the foreseeable future but they do not need new forms every year.
  8. They did it to frustrate us. It really annoys me to no end the way they are handling names(or the lack thereof) this time around all in the name of (over)simplification.
  9. Wow very cool! It's rare to see mods for LEGO games, I've only ever found a couple minor ones for Lego Star Wars.
  10. Grinder is by far my favorite of the bunch. Basher is a close second. I hated Slicer at first but the more I look at him the more I like him, his upper legs are still too bare though and I'm still not thrilled with the re-used skull spider mask. The bone pieces look a lot better now that we have close ups, still rather skinny but they at least try to look like a tibia and fibia. I am not a fan of the trans orange tacked onto all the sets and I expect some sort of reason for it to be there. I love the use of the new chima flame piece in black as horns on Grinder and his trident looks nice. Overall he looks solid( as solid as a decaying skeleton warrior could be). He looks very evil for sure. Ekimu is perfect, nothing really to say that hasn't already been said about him. Scorpio is hideous and I hope for the sake of the visual sacrifice that the lashing tail function works really well. I love that Basher has a lashing forward function as opposed to swinging arms though his horns should be black as purple is no where else on the set except for trans purple.
  11. A console game for next gen and last gen similar to the system LEGO games with an open world hub as an explorable Okoto and a fun although likely simpler version of God of War style hack and slash combat, and plenty of characters to unlock like the gen1 versions of the Toa. I want a game that stays true to the adventure, story, and lore of Bionicle but that plays and feels like the LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Lord of the Rings, LEGO Marvel Superheroes and LEGO Batman games but with constraction characters as opposed to minifigs. I honestly don't see why it couldn't be done and I really do hope we get something along these lines. I also have no problem whatsoever with mixing constraction and system to make awesome smash-able objects and scenery. I could easily see those massive stone obelisks-- shown in concept art and packaging-- made out out lots of grey bricks.
  12. Given it's still January, I think there is plenty more to come. Story-wise it does seem a little rushed in comparison to gen 1 but like someone said before this is a different story where the gold masks aren't the important part, just the first task. In gen 1 the Toa had to find 5 other masks each before getting the gold mask while in gen 2 they only have to find 1 mask each. In terms of content, I really hope we get more over the course of the year in terms of promo videos, online games, pictures, online comics(hopefully physical copies), interactive things, music, music videos etc. I really really wish we got comic books again as that was a huge highlight for me in gen 1. I was always excited to get a new club magazine for the Bionicle comic book and it did a great job of tiding one over and fleshing out the story. The books were also great for that and I am glad we are at least getting a few books, although those won't come out until the end of the year.
  13. It is interesting that we get two orange and black villains and no water themed villain this year. I'm guessing LoSS is supposed to be the 6th member of the skull gang. Now I'm really curious what the story reason is for the blended masks. Are they partially drained of elemental power? Are they even more powerful than the golden masks? Only time will tell.
  14. Mata Nui, those blended masks are beautiful. Too bad Tahu and Gali don't get get one... yet. Onua gets one though so I'm good. The skull gang looks much better than the prelims showed and I can't wait to pick up grinder and basher at the very least. It's a shame slicer uses a skull spider mask, though I figured at least one set would be stuck with one. I like the new sword and axe pieces a lot. We can now confirm Ekimu has a gearbox and the skull gang have trans orange eyes.
  15. Those episodes were great and I'm really glad Onua is as awesome as I'd hoped he'd be, grabbing Tahu and Kopaka by the mask and lifting them up to stop their fighting and delivering the final blow to LoSS! I really like that they kept personalities close to what they used to be with the exception of Pohatu who seems very dark and brooding. They better release them in English soon!!!! It really sucks its over for the first wave when the story was finally starting to go somewhere. The way the videos have been released is really terrible as nice as it is to have them early. LEGO doesn't seem to have it together at all with online content this year. The LEGO website has had been riddled with problems and misprints, they messed up the shopping site when the current wave of sets were released and now releasing these videos in random chunks in two different languages, not evenly spaced out and released as one episode at a time, available in each language as it should have been. It's really kinda sad and dare I say pathetic the way things have been handled. Also, am I the only one who thinks LEGO's Youtube channel is a complete mess? It really is disorganized. To add to the voice actor discussion, Kevin Michael Richardson should voice Onua if(hopefully when) a new movie is made. He would be perfect as his deep voice is iconic and fits this kind of role. Also we need that alphabet in English!! Lastly, some have mentioned graphic novels coming in the summer. I thought we were just getting books like the Legends series as in books-with-words-and-nothing-else? If this is true that is pretty cool, honestly though I would rather have both! Since we aren't getting comics, graphic novels is the next best thing.
  16. Wow I really like what you did here. I really hope LEGO does this eventually, Okoto needs wildlife!
  17. Absolutely not. All Insane Kids should however. "Hero" and "Caught Up In A Dream" were Bionicle's greatest songs IMHO.
  18. I too wish those awesome pedestals were available for purchase. OT but I constantly look forward to seeing what crazy thing you change your sig to Chasm, I always get a kick out of it! EDIT: I just saw those custom ones, expensive but awesome! That site also has other awesome custom Bionicle things like that wicked movie Kraahkan!
  19. that the Mask of Light did. Dear God, that was awful. Aah I watched that movie so much as a kid, I had the entire movie memorized and could say every line beginning to end without having the movie on or anything.... due in part to the fact that I had, at that time, an diagnosed case of OCD which several years later got diagnosed and medicated. Good times though, Bionicle was my biggest obsession. A hybrid between Nocturn and Grievous? I would love a Bionicle-ized Grievous! Grievous was such an awesome character, too bad they ruined him. In the Clone Wars animated shorts, he was such a bada##! But then they turned around and made him a coward in everything after. Such wasted potential.... ANYWAY, back on topic, I'm pretty sure given the heavy amount of preliminary and prototype parts used in all the LEGO displays in London, the mask maker's mask will likely be gold and trans-blue which will look incredible, though I am a bit disappointed to hear that it will not have the gold chima ultrabuild armor addons, nor a hammer weapon. Will he even come with a weapon? Nothing has been mentioned of him holding anything has it? I am so looking forward to seeing pictures of these sets!
  20. I seriously doubt that has anything to do with it. There's a clear and obvious reason why many of the set names are just actual English descriptions—because a made-up fantasy name doesn't convey nearly as much information. I don't know if Bionicle fans just don't realize it, but Bionicle's use of invented terminology for almost everything was often a source of ridicule. Lots of people, including both adults and children, had trouble understanding the difference between "Keelerak" or "Oohnorak", or why it was important. This extended even to fans—many former fans I've met as an adult, when asked what their favorite set was, will say "the red one", or something similar, because for someone who wasn't closely following the story, a made-up fantasy name with little basis in real language is not something worth memorizing or keeping track of. And in the original Bionicle, EVERY set was named like that. A year's worth of sets would have maybe 15 or more uniquely named characters, and for a story that cycled through characters every year that added up to a LOT of information to keep track of. I agree having six particular names for six particular types of a mass of enemies was excessive, especially when those enemies frequently only appeared for half a year then never again. The movies tried to address this by only referring to them by the overall name, like Rahkshi or Vahki. But when it comes to actual characters with personalities, an individual name is surely not an unreasonable thing to expect. Notice that the second movie doesn't stop at just Dark Hunters; they're also named as Nidhiki and Krekka. Once again it's perfectly acceptable for army fodder, I mean nobody cares if a Stormtrooper's name is Bob, Fred or Joe, it's one Stormtrooper in a massive army of them, but in that same regard we have individual main characters with names. We don't call Grand Moff Tarkin "the general guy" or Darth Vader "metal face". If skull grinder is an individual, he should have an actual name, if he is just a heavy unit in the skull army I'm totally cool with that but main characters should have names, army fodder just needs an over-arching title. If the mask maker is in fact Ekimu they should have said so, if not then perhaps it is just a generic mask maker from one of the villages. I understand making it simpler for people to understand but if someone doesn't care about names, regardless of, for example, labeling Tahu by his name or just 'Master of Fire', those people will still refer to it as 'the red one' regardless of what is put on the package.
  21. That is awesome! That master builder did a great job capturing the look of both characters and it makes me really want a gen2 Takanuva and Makuta(which we will get at the very least). Taka's staff looks to be quite top heavy as it is bending the staff portion of the weapon quite a bit. The golden Kaukau(mask of water yeah yeah I know...) does a great job of standing in for the Avohkii. We must discover who this man/woman is, they deserve a cookie!
  22. Yay now we can finally talk about this on bzp! I look forward to these skull villains and I am hoping Skull Slicer is really cool because four arms sound awesome. The new torn cloth armor pieces sound quite interesting. I was hoping we would get the Chima armor piece, perhaps one of the sets like the 'mask maker' has it. A lot of people have speculated that the mask maker is Ekimu but then why not say Ekimu instead of mask maker? I like sound of these villians but I am still really frustrated at the fact that none of them have actual names, I mean is it really that hard to make up a name for a character as opposed to a simple title/description of what he/she does!? Is that too much to ask????? It is acceptable for a sample of an army as the normal canister sets would be but good grief not one of the summer wave sets has a name. rant_over.exe virus=very yes......sigh..... that aside, I like these darker type enemies and it appears Makuta may now posses an army of the dead which is so cool! I hope that the mask maker vs skull grinder is really Ekimu vs Makuta but regardless it sounds promising, if not a missed opportunity.
  23. Wow, phenomenal work here! I shall now headcanon these as the 'official' appearances of the remaining 35 Rahkshi that never got an official appearance.
  24. It would be awesome if we got official Akamai and Wairuha, but the fanmade ones are quite nice.
  25. Honestly, I'd rather they didn't. Just stick with the current Toa team and occasionally add a new Toa to the mix like Hero Factory did with the main characters, which is something I think HF did well. Takanuva definitely needs to appear though I doubt he would be a villager first, just appear as a Toa..
