  1. Audiobooks are great for car trips, or other places and times where reading the book is impossible/ inconvenient. Personally, while I wouldn't call it "cheating", per se, the purist in me insists that you won't get the full experience you'll get by reading the book.

If you're having trouble reading the books, I recommend setting yourself up with a reading plan (I know it sounds dumb but just wait). At the moment, I'm slowly working my way through Les Misérables, and I've found that the size of the book can overwhelm me if I let it. Along with that, it's easy for me to forget about reading for awhile, and then have to play catch-up a few weeks later because I forget what's happened in the chapters previous.

So I just make a rule that, by the time I go to bed every night, I have to have read at least ten pages. Depending on what's going on that day, those pages can take me anywhere from fifteen minutes in total to a good forty-five, but that way I'm always working at the book. Keeping up momentum is the hardest part; once you've got that down, you're golden.

That's a good idea. Just so long as I read a little bit each day, I'll eventually get it done pain-free! Thanks.

Pff, forget Two Towers or Return of the King. You have less than a month before The Hobbit comes out, so you'd better read that if you haven't already. ;) (Or rather, the first third of it?)

Having never listened to an audio book, I can't really comment on it, because I can see its usefulness (getting through a book while you're driving, for example) but a story delivered via speech comes across differently than when you read the actual words. But in your case, since it takes you so long to read em, might as well go for the audio. :P

Yeah, I read The Hobbit for 9th grade. I might try to read it again sometime between these three movies. But since I've read it (even if I've forgotten most of it), I'm totally seeing the movie worry-free of my read-it-first mentality!

  2. I can see what some of your mistakes were from reading that. But I'm glad you're up for another game later!

But the biggest problems I can see (aside from not cashing in cards earlier when you could have probably taken advantage of having a larger army) are starting with Africa and Asia. Africa has too many entrance points to be stepped on, and Asia is too big to try to be the first continent to control.

I suggest starting with South America or gaining a strong foothold in North America or Europe. Australia is always popular but because of that is hard to gain in the beginning unless you get lucky.

  3. Fig: Exo Force body from that one set they were giving away @ BFair a few years ago, Galaxy Patrol head, Loki helmet, Vampire cape, Scarab shield, Dino tranquilizer gun, trans orange chainsaw, on top of the raptor from the set you reviewed spitting out lightning.

    All full of win.

Yes. But where are the pants from?

  4. So the Gresh helmet in my box was a proto, right? Just making sure, I can't see much different about it, and I don't want to go around bragging about my nonexistent proto.

Presumably. I don't choose what parts I get. I just get handed a handful of the stuff LEGO gave BZPower. Some of that stuff is either real parts or stuff that doesn't look too different. Sometimes it's more "yay another piece from a long time ago!" than actual weird colored things.

Next time I'll pay you in gemstones, only a few which will be worth anything. :P

    LEGO gemstones?!?!?!?!

  5. For watches, I've had the same watch from REI for about 7 years now. It's digital and the strap can easily be removed via the pins so you can place your own strap in (I recommend Silverfoot's Velcro straps, which REI also sells). And when I say REI, I bet LL Bean would also work. And while I say those company names, I got my watch for $40, so it's easy to get a good watch from an expensive outlet for a good price.

Mice: I've had good luck with Logitech. Well I say that and here I am with a glitch every now and then in my 3.5 year old model. But it's stuck with me this long and keeps on ticking. Though you'll know what's best for you when you find it.

  6. I've really been wanting to watch that X-Men Anime.

But there are other Marvel cartoons out I'd rather watch right now.

    Like Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Glad you've been getting into some new shows.

I'd love to suggest a few titles to you.
