  1. Also, is the fig on the far left meant to be Ice Planet or Aquasharks? If it's the former it needs more white, and if it's the latter it needs more black. As it is it's pretty ambiguous.

It's neither. I wanted to use the trans orange of the mask, the blue of the newly colored shell, and the gunmetal of the jetarangs.

  2. Random question: how many BIONICLE posters did you end up getting? And which did they give out each day? I know on Thursday it was Gali and Onua, but seeing as it was a four-day event and there were only six Toa I'm curious whether any got repeated or whether there were posters for, say, the Lord of Skull Spiders and the six Protectors.

    DOZENS. O_O

There are seven in all: One of each Toa and one featuring the Mask of Creation.

  3. I think I'll stick to instruction booklets and catalogs, as opposed to printing out pictures, because the quality of the image is higher. It all depends on what I have on hand, but the visuals you've linked to are pretty cool and things I would use depending on what I have.

  4. I'm going to have to check out this Spacesuit book.

Two great sci-fi books I've read recently are Ready Player One and Redshirts, though I don't know if I'd read them again. Certainly fun, fast-paced, well-written books though, and worth the read! Maybe get them from the library instead of the bookstore.

I'm with you on trying to avoid trilogies currently and enjoy some one-and-done stories.

Single-stories I haven't read yet but are on my to be read list include the Star Wars book Scoundrels which is like Ocean's Eleven with Star Wars. There's The Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs which is the grandfather of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars (this might be at Barnes and Noble as a trilogy of the first three books, which might be a better deal than each one individually). I've heard Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson is amazing.

    Happy reading!

  5. Cool beans. I posted my own Brickfair haul on Flickr. Here's what I got from vendors and yard sales, and here's what I got from the parts draft. I still need to blog about Brickfair. Maybe I'll have an entry up later today.

So much cool stuff! This year my intent was to be more thrifty, but I'm realizing the downside to not seeking out great LEGO deals on the spot (because, aside from overpriced minifigs, there are a lot of deals). Next year will be different.

  6. I'd love to play Smash Up! Haven't played before, but it looks awesome!

I'll be bringing Munchkin/Star Munchkin/Munchkin Apocalypse (All with various expansions), Settlers of Catan (with 6 player expansion), and Small World. In fact, I'm leading a Munchkin game at 1:30 on Thursday, with LEGO-Compatible Munchkin weapons as prizes! (Sign up on BrickFair's website.)

I am very open to starting games during down time.

  7. If I sold stuff as a vendor, I'd love to have a box of LEGO buttons (made from catalogs and instructions). Unfortunately a button maker costs ~$600 (which includes some button materials at the ready), so getting any profit off of that won't happen until probably the second convention (being optimistic my supply and demand price and inventory is good).

  8. That A-Wing torso definitely won't work for GL. I might have to try my hand at waterslide decals...

As for Gambit, I'd love to make one of my favorite X-Men, but it's a matter of finding the right torso (and headpiece, though not necessary recently). I already have a 1x2 tile that is an array of playing cards waiting.
