Hey all, I'm going to try a thing where, every Thursday I review a song/movie/whatever I've been doing recently. So this week I figured I'd start with a song that blows my mind with it's epicness.
Nights in White Satin, by The Moody Blues.
"Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.
Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going through they can't understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.
And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I've always missed, with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Breath deep
The gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day's useless
penny is spent
Impassioned lovers
Wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love
And has none
New mother picks up
And suckles her son
Senior citizens
Wish they were young
Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And which is an Illusion"
Trivia about the song
So, this song was written by Justin Hayward, at the age of 19. It was written when he was going through a bad break up, and he would lay awake on his satin bedsheets wondering what to do. Hence the name of the song.
The end of the song (from Breathe deep... on) is a dramatic reading, written by the drummer of The Moody Blues, and read by the pianist.
Why this song is awesome
Alright, this song is over seven minutes long, most of which is amazing orchestra and the dramatic reading. The main reason I like this song so much, is the amount of feeling Justin Hayward put into it. You really have to hear it to understand. But the orchestra is fantastic, the reading is amazing, and the overall song is more than worth having. So if you don't already have it, go find it on iTunes.
Alright, this was my first review, so if you guys can think of any ways for me to improve, comment away!
