  1. I love the fact that we get to canonize all of these little details about Gen1. But nonetheless, i understand some of people's hesitation...We have nothing but time, and in reality, no deadlines. We could have polls open for a month, for each individual toa, and it would be fine. We waited for I-don't-know-how-many-years to learn about the mangai. We can reasonably wait a few months.
  2. If you're gonna go with the category "Fikou Weapon", It seems like it's not a weapon per se, but a design or motif applied to one of the other weapon types. So, it would be fikou staff, fikou bow, etc., and maybe not an individual choice on it's own. The same applies with the "something wooden" option.
  3. ...Actually, if it would be okay for me to suggest a second thing, what about this: He doesn't have a tool. He grows one out of wood or plants whenever he needs one to fit a given situation. Need a staff? Bam, got a good strong one nearby. Perhaps a whip would be better? a long vine grows up at his feet. Need defense more than anything? Bam, a portable-size thick sheet of branches appears.
  4. Twin spiked sheilds. He seems like a complete healer character...Maybe he doesn't have to have a weapon as such.
  5. It was the Tahu stars. While i would have loved for the first set I opened to have been Tahu Mata so that I could have had an oddly symbolic full-circle moment, i'm 90% sure the first set I opened was one of the mctoran, and I opened Tahu within the next hour or so. Oh well.
  6. I personally voted magnetism, mainly due to the usefullness that such a toa would have against the dragon/his eventual usefullness in a hub like metru nui. I would like to play devil's advocate if that's okay: there is not much plantlife at all in Metru Nui. a toa of the green would, very literally, be out of his element there. If he initially came to fight the kanohi dragon, i can kind of understand that MAYBE...but I can't imagine he would have stayed long afterwards.
  7. 1: Kongu: While i really disliked his mahri set form, he was really interesting to me. 2: Matoro (ah, so predictable I am): for 2008 reasons. 3: Lesovikk: So many toa were depicted as straight-edged heros...He broke the mold and was something different. I really liked that. 4: Kopaka: By far one of the most iconic characters in Bionicle for me. 5: Helryx: Kinda hard to be better than the literal toa template. 6: Takanuva: arguably the main protagonist of the first 3 years.
  8. 2001: Obvious choice: all the Toa Mata. They're so iconic to Bionicle in general that it's hard not to say this. 2002: The nuva were great, but Lewa Nuva was probably the strongest of the bunch to me. 2003: Makuta. That set set the bar for titan sets for years to come. 2004: Lhikan and Kikanalo. I would have said the Toa Metru, but Lhikan has probably the best use of that build. 2005: Close tie between Sidorak and Roodaka. Despite all the hate 2005 has, they nailed the titan sets. 2006: Kongu Inika. And I am aware I am one of the few who thinks this. 2007: Pridak. The barraki were fantastic sets overall. Despite 2007 being the year that a lot of complaints on repitive builds became widespread, it was also probably the year with the most variety. 2008: Axalara T9. Yeah, hard to pick anything else. 2009: The Skopio. I loved the imposingness of that set. 2010: I don't know...Rahkshi, I guess...?
  9. Velika. We've seen implications that the Po-Matoran body he took over was destined to become toa (through The Kingdom and whatnot), it would have been interesting to see what would happen with the Velika great being. Also Ahkmou. As much as I loved Takanuva's role in 2008, I would have loved to see him as a toa of shadow.
  10. Recently (since bionicle is coming back and I knew I may need to explain to people exactly what this thing I am obsessed with is), I mentally tried to see how I would explain the story to people. I came to two conclusions: 1: If I wanted to tell the story to them, either I have to say what cronologically happened ("there was once a planet called Spherus Magna..."), or in order of what we learned (2001, 2002, etc). The two have pros and cons, and are very different stories. 2: It took me a total of 2 hours to run through all the information I considered necessary to capture the story. In other words, I am not 100% sure anyone I know will be willing to take the time for me to explain this to them.
  11. I initially thought i'd say 2010, but with the understanding that the poor quality was because the line had to come to an ending quicker than they could have prepared for. Keeping that in mind, I think they did a good job, and I (one of the few, it appears) like all the various pieces of storyline that have come since. So...maybe 2003 for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the Kal, it was litterally a rehashed bohrok. As amazing as MoL was to us at the time, we've since seen (in my opinion) better movies. The two saving graces of that year for me were the "titan" sets, which I think were some of the stronger sets of any year. You know, as I type this, I realise that MNOG II is the only piece of bionicle media I have not experience from begining to end...maybe I should go try it, I may get a different opinion...
  12. Back in...I think it was 2009...I was SUPER intent on making a whole alternate bionicle canon for a bionicle fan gamemaking company that existed at the time. I had a complex alternate universe put together, with the intended difference being that the ignika landed in a star and melted instead of landing on Bara Magna. One of the core ideas I was going to introduce was the idea that characters in the matoran universe don't die...they get sent somewhere else to be repaired. Now, I did not think of it being the red star, i instead was going to say it was the prototype robot, but still...that's pretty close. I felt pretty happy when I found out about the red star.
  13. So, I wanted to put my thoughts down with people who will actually know who I'm talking about...Full disclosure, I probably have crazy "nostalgia goggles". I cannot overstate the effect Bionicle has had on my life. Never have I become so fully ingrossed in a story as then, and I havent since. The shear quantity and complexity of information and characters within this universe we had all come to know puts it up against more established franchises (such as LotR and Star Trek) in my mind. During a time in my life when, to be honest, I had very few friends, I found them here and on BS01. After all of that, you would think I would be over-the-moon happy for the triumphant return of this guiding force in my life. However, sadly, my feelings on Bionicle's return are, well...mixed. It seems as if all the elements for it to go well are there...They created a play function which satisfies both the people who liked the posability of the inika build, and the gearfunctions of the mata build. They stayed incredibly true to the original mata, only making differences in ways we had been begging for for years (making Onua super musculer and different from the others being the most striking example). It's getting a complete web series, which is something we have always wanted. The art style they introduced for the setting and whatnot is fantastic. This is the star-studded treatment we always wanted for Bionicle, and felt like it deserved. One thing seems to be falling short though...Based on the character bios and the animation preview we were shown, the story seems to be...well...less than what we had hoped. One of the main things I loved about the story was that, unlike just about any storyline typically directed at my agegroup, it was challenging. The villains were complex, the heroes were conflicted, and even a Toa could turn evil. These were real characters in this world, with almost everyone being insanely fleshed out. That was what kept us with it all that time. But I don't sense that from the character bios in the bionicle site, or the animation. The matoran language is no longer present, which is what gave Bionicle a lot of it's depth. The toa all have what seem to be a "joke gimmick": Onua's sleepiness, Gali's inability to tell jokes, etc. It feels less strong than what we had come to know. While bionicle 1.0 was able to appeal to both a younger audience and older fans alike, this seems much more...targeted. cheesy. "The mask of ultimate power", really? That's how I feel right now...Despite my apprehension, I will get every set, and follow the story dilligantly. As an 18-year-old going to college in a year, I know i am not the intended demographic, but I will take in bionicle's new story with an open mind and open heart. I am ready to love it.
  14. It turns out that the basic storyline of 2006 makes for a rather fantastic Dungeons and Dragons campaign...I was just designing that and thought of BZP, so I thought I'd share that with you guys.
  15. I just logged in and found this...This is the first time i witnessed a bzpowerer's death, and it's one of the saddest things i have ever seen. I didn't know her well, admittedly the first i heard of her was the announcement she had been kidnapped. However, that doesn't change the fact that this is horrible. No one should have to die like this, or that young. The fact that there are people walking around the world willing to cause this is a terrible, terrible thing, and, apparently, Heather was unfortunate to meet one of them. I had hoped, after seeing the kidnap notice, some justice would come before things got worse. The fact that she wasn't found in time is a horrible injustice.I only hope whoever did this is found and brought to justice. My condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew her.RIP Heather.

  22. yeah, i was wondering if i was gonna post something like this...Yeah, BZP basically was my whole life for about a year or two (sad, but true). And before that, it was BS01. Now, BZP went down for half a year. In that time, i've learned to live without it. In that however-many-months it was gone, i basically forgot every fact i've learned about bionicle. I used to be a walking dictionary. I mean, before bzp and bs01, bionicle ALONE was my life for what ended up being 10 years. Now, i think back, and i wonder why...i don't remember almost anything from the story, except for the main points. I also don't feel as passionate about it anymore. So, combine all this with highschool. and that one english class i have at a college. AND my music (i've gotten better since bzp went down, don't groan ). AND a bunch of other stuff. I have to drop something. Why not make it something i've lived without for half a year? so yah, this is my "goodbye" from BZP and BS01. Although, not quite a goodbye, 'cause that makes it sound like i'm forbidden from coming back. Why not make it a "statement that says you should not expect me online that much anymore". Yeah, that works. Google me, listen to my music, and keep an eye out for the album i'm gonna put on iTunes soon. JMSOG, out. (oh, bye the way, i always have 5 tabs open in my internet window: my soundcloud, my e-mail, a social site, bzp, and bs01. this won't change. )
