IC (Dastan):

The group reached the Outpost; an anoying Skadki was waiting for them, and started to dance arround Enforcer emmidiatly after his arrival.

"Well then," Dastan gently interrupted them. "The mission, succesfull or not, is finished, and I, due all respect, don't wan't to take part in this... Mercenary organisation of yours. I believe that it isn't a path a Toa should embrace."

The Vo-Toa slightly smilled, looking over his companions.

"Plus, I wasn't invited anyway. I'll be moving now... to Ta-Wahi, perhaps. Someone has to make sure that the matoran refugees are fine..." he said, waved goodbye and headed to the cable car.

OOC:  My apologies for the delay, Norik.  Also, apologies for the minor bunnying.  I am happy to take it out if you prefer.  However, I feel it's best we just plow forward after my delays.

IC: Ahkmou, Ko-Koro (Ambage's Apartment, Foyer Encounter)

A soft afternoon light filtered through the icy walls of the kitchen.  Granite counters ringed the room, covered in a multitude of half-peeled vegetables and hastily discarded cookware.  A pile of dirty dishes stood in the soapy water of a sink, frosty ice covering the liquid's surface.  A pot of broth bubbled and boiled on the island stove.  Ishi assessed the situation quickly, noting the small sliding door, half-open, leading to a pantry of canned goods.  From his position near the island the writing was illegible, the ambient lighting too dim to make out more than the general glint of the tin.

Ishi grabbed his right shoulder, feeling the tip of the bamboo sliver pierced into his flesh, as sharp pain lanced cross-laterally, snaking up his neck and down his opposite leg.  It was trivial compared to the agony of watching green fire consume his fingers, but enough to hamper his physical response.  He would have to compensate.

The guard, who's patero wasn't loaded since the last volley at Dervish, burst through the broken doorway and bull rushed.  Ishi spun around and was swept up in the grapple, the ko-matoran wrapping tight arms around Ishi's waist.  The po-matoran brought his elbow down on the shoulder blades, denting the armor, but with herculean strength he was thrown into the pantry, cans raining and rolling across the floor.  Clay jars of oil broke as they hit the icy floor, a slippery mess adding difficulty to the encounter.

Ishi growled and sprinted forward.  The guard discarded his patero, no time to pump or reload, grabbed a meat cleaver from the counter, and hurled it.  By some trick of fate -- or was it inexplicable luck, a luck he'd seemed to gain since meeting Joske -- the handle slammed into Ishi's thigh rather than the blade, but the force of impact was enough to knock him prone, slipping on the oily surface of the floor.  Groaning, Ishi pushed himself up only to have a knee in his chest.  The air rushed out of his lungs and his eyes bugged, but the attack didn't stop.  He worked his way to a standing position, grappling and screaming in the frenzy, finally escaping by spinning under a hay maker.

They danced around the kitchen in their fierce melee, Ishi swiping food off the counters with his palms to trip up his foe between deflections.  He ducked and bobbed, but the guard was powerful and experienced.  More than once Ishi found himself lying on his back, his opponent bearing down with a utensil of deadly design.  Each time he somehow escaped, dodged, or managed to counter attack, until the guard finally grabbed the bamboo bard and twisted it deeper.

Ishi screamed as blood spurt from the wound and his body exploded with pain.  The po-matoran felt himself slammed onto the island, his face perilously close to the burning flames.  His neck strained, his back lurched. He was pushed closer. The oil on his face was growing warm.  The guard grunted and shoved, keeping the pressure, sinewy muscles bulging and inorganic components screaming.  Fear made Ishi's heartlight race, but instead of fighting he let go, the sudden release giving him room to move his head.  He bobbed up and slapped his mutilated hands into the hot steel of the stock pot, yelping as he felt his palms start to burn.

Boiling stock slashed over the guard from head to chest.  He howled and screamed, pulling back as the burns popped and blistered the skin of his organics.  Summoning his concentration Ishi slammed forward, plowing the guard into the wall near the doorway to the foyer and, focusing on the darkness between them, stabbed deep into his chest with a dark blade of whirling shadow.  The guards mouth went slack, his eyes glaze, and Ishi let him slump to the floor.

"I killed them because I like to live," said Ishi as the lights of Forsi's Inn glittered around their secret meeting in the booth.  Ventra looked aghast.  "I like to to live just as much as Poku, or..."

The foyer was silent after the brutal combat.  Ishi stepped through the ripped doorway of the kitchen to join Dervish, noting the twitching toa of ice with spittle drooling from his tight jaw, blood mixing from where he bit his lip clean off.  The other guard wasn't getting up either.  Ishi took a deep breath, doing his best to ignore the sharp pain in his arm, ripping the drapes with his blood-covered palms for a temporary bandage.  He couldn't tie the fabric, instead opting to pull the bamboo out with his teeth and hold the fabric in place with his left palm.  He was bruised and battered, and his hands ached from the light burns of the stock pot.  Dervish looked far better.

"Away one: Home zero."  He joined her on the stairs and continued before continuing to the landing.  "Good job."

The somber disposition disappeared as Ishi entered the office at the end of the hallway.  It, like the rest of the house, was quiet.  Dervish and Ishi were free to rip the apartment to shreds during the chaos of the outside world, and no one would be the wiser.

A large desk sat in the center of the room, and behind it a row of bookshelves.  A few chairs were positioned near a fireplace, now cold and filled with last week's ash.  "Ambages would have kept what we're looking for under his nose at all times, but he couldn't possibly leave it in his office at the Citadel.  I was there, and there's no place to hide anything like what we're looking for.  He'd have put it here, in his office, because it's the safest place on the island of Mata Nui.  The ILF already rolled through this building months ago and didn't find anything suspicious.  This place is hallowed in the eyes of heroes, which makes it even better."

"And what're we looking for?" Asked Dervish.

"Oh, just the kanohi of turaga Onewa."  Ishi replied nonchalantly, and began searching the room for clues.

OOC: Partial timeskip...

IC: (Rakona/Ko-Koro)

The smell of the powder lingered in the cold air still, as the disciples of the Archangel entered the city. Larikon sat behind them with Jaaku, so it was up to the rest of them to take the city. It was an honor long deserved, she thought, the rank of Marshal. Whip in hand, the group went towards the residential district of the Koro, to trap the Matoran within their homes. She looked across the area, in a nervous sense, trying to find the opposition, or else the cavalry. She knew they could more easily fight the mounted soldiers in an urban area, but the memories of almost freezing to death lingered still in her mind.

Thentyle and Weiss covered her flanks, with Goran and Zekev behind. She could see small throngs of Matoran running away, trying to flee the wrath and power of Ak'rei'an. She felt a desire to destroy them, kill them for vengeance, kill them to send a message to the heathen world. But orders came in the way of it. They were a group of three, it would be easy to intimidate them. "Go unto your homes, heathens! Or you shall face our blades!"

IC: (Larikon Torchbearer)

Larikon looked to Dahkapa, bound and bandaged upon the snow, knocked out unconscious. He looked to the city, where his Brothers were crusading against the heathens without him. He looked to the snow-covered field around him, littered with the corpses of the defenders, whose bodies were beginning to frost over. He looked to Lutrez and to Jaaku. All of this, it had to be a blessing, from Ak'rei'an himself. The Archangel had made fate go unto this direction, and he was thankful for it. As for topic Jaaku had brought up, Larikon had a feeling it was something most of his members agreed with.

"Ak'rei'an needs living messengers, Sir Jaaku. He needs crusaders, able and willing, to fight his battle against the heathens, to spread his word, to survive in a world that is hostile to them. I do not approve of it either, Sir Jaaku, but we need to survive, to preserve the Book of Life and its enlightened words, to continue the fight. Ak'rei'an has entrusted us to that task, and I was faced with the choice of betraying Ak'rei'an or the will of the Grandmasters before me. I did not want to betray my god, so I chose the path of compromise."

He sighed.

"They had the power to reduce our organization, our holy order, to mere dust. The power to reduce us to a footnote in the heathen histories with a single order. So I chose to ally with them, fight with them against our common, greater enemy. I did so with the condition our groups be considered equals, and in that regard, I succeeded. We will be able to practice our faith, and I retain my order. Now, it does not particularly mean it will always be as such..."

IC Veneras

"I believe that it isn't a path a Toa should embrace."

The Vo-Toa's words cut deeply. Am I making the wrong decision? Veneras wondered to himself. Then switching his staff to his left hand, he extended his right to Dastan

"Peace be with you, brother" Veneras bid the toa farewell.
No. He had not made the wrong decision. The way of the Akiri is a fetter, a shackle to true justice. The Akiri let Ko Koro burn he remembered, That is the path a toa should not embrace.
With that, Veneras entered the outpost, leaving Enforcer to deal with the arrogant .

IC: Marauder

Marauder looked down the barrel of the gun in his face. Well, then.

"Look, buddy," he said nonchalantly. "You could kill me, if you want. But what would your dear old leader say if she knew you killed a potential recruit without even hearing him out, letting him inside... giving him something strong to drink, since his throat is frozen over from the ######-blasted cold? Come on..."

IC (Jin)

"Sounds good."

I pried the door up, and the three of us descended. The ladder was cold but not slick: when you live in Ko-Koro, I guess you figure out pretty quick how to deal with ice. We made it to the bottom and entered the archer's barracks, which were empty. Everyone was out fighting or dead.

One door obviously led outside; from here, I could hear the sounds of fighting. Maybe we could use the distraction to exit, or maybe we'd just get caught up in the middle of the battle. I've never been super patient, but let me tell you: you learn to appreciate some skills when your life is on the line. I peeked out the door, looking for an opportunity.

IC Veneras

The toa of ice limped in, his staff clanking heavily to make up for the immobility of his leg. "They're dealing with some arrogant skakdi who wants in on the group" he said dismissively. Then thinking back to the failure of their mission he added "We've all made it back alive. But my home is desolated." his eyes were then downcast "The makuta worshippers have much more power than we anticipated.
"Matoran, commanding the elements of Toa. Vortixx with Makuta's very destruction bestowed on them."

IC: Luckily for Verulas, the shot he was expecting never came.

He ducked behind a tree and waited a bit longer as the last of the snow hit the ground, revealing that his allies had moved on without him.

"Real team effort, guys," he mumbled to himself as he began following their tracks back up to the outpost. "See if I ever try to save your hides again."

The Bo-Toa arrived moments after the group began conversing with the approaching Skakdi and Dastan had departed, completely unaware that a scout belonging to the Ko-Koro Guard had discovered and attacked the sniper who was about to shoot him, thus preventing him from firing.

OOC: The NPC introduction was our way of temporarily addressing Teclax's current inability to post. He will be under Teclax's control when he is able to start writing again, and Gresak will be coming after Verulas for taking away his reward sometime down the road. Also, Verulas is now back with the rest of the group at Obsidian Outpost

"Fine." I keep my gun trained on him. "Go inside, and don't try anything. If you do, it'll be the last thing you ever do."

IC: Veteran.

"Well, it sounds like you had a great bloody time." Veneras' words had him on edge. Vortixx and Matoran with powers? He'd lived a long life, seen a lot of things, but he'd never even heard of something like this before.

IC: Marauder

Marauder grinned yet again. He couldn't help it - getting his way made him happy.

Getting his way with a grouch was even better.

"Well, technically..." He said in a low voice as he turned around, hands suspended mockingly in the air while he made his way to the doors of the fortress. "The last thing I would ever do is die in a bloody mess, so..."

"Well, it sounds like you had a great bloody time."

The toa of ice rubbed his aching leg "like KarzAHNI I did!" Veneras'shouted in pain, emphasising the full use of the word. No sooner had the echoes reached his ears, than he closed his eyes in regret

"I apologize" he said, regaining his composure "I did not mean to be so vulgar. I am most weary, and in great pain."

He giggled out loud at that.

"That's a good joke."

Ah, he was going to love this guy.

OOC: Well, what the heck?

IC: Marauder

"Yeah, I get that a lot," he admitted, taking in the interesting HQ with a breath of amazement. It was larger than his old one. Maybe he'd even get his own room!

Nah, knowing this Vortixx, he'd probably get a dungeon cell or something.

"You know what this could use?" He asked, now that the topic of dungeons were on his mind. "Hanging Sky-dungeons of Murder-Death! Yeah, those would be nice... if a prisoner gets too rowdy, you open the bottom of the cage, and - "

Marauder made a whistling sound, then some screaming, then a squish sound. His eye and neck twitched, and he giggled.

The strange Skakdi continued to ramble. "Well, you'd have to make the cages are metal, of course - can't risk, um, fire! Yeah, a fire accident... that'd be bad. But, what you really - wait, what? Me?" He chuckled a bit. "Naw, I don't prefer heights. 'Keep me close to the ground', that's my motto! Well, that or 'Blow everything up'..." He scratched his head. "Hmm... I'll have to ponder that."

IC: Verulas casually followed the rest of the group inside, still clearly miffed that the others had left him behind while he was trying to defend them. He pulled the Su-Matoran's backpack off of his shoulders before reaching inside for something to eat.

He was really starting to get sick of eating his own fruit all the time, and thankfully, the Matoran had had the sense to pack things that weren't quick to spoil.

His hand reached around inside before he settled on removing a pouch filled with jerky (what animal the meat originally came from, he did not know), immediately opening it and plopping a piece into his mouth as he began to chew. The flavor was strong, but in a good way, and he enjoyed the taste so much that he was reluctant to swallow it.

The Bo-Toa threw the bag back over his shoulders as his bad mood instantly evaporated, his body leaning itself against a wall as he silently watched the others talk.

"Well - sir," Matauder said, emphasizing the "sir". Despite his ignorance, arrogance and insanity, Marauder held a certain respect for elder Skakdi. "I was hoping to join your little posse. I... defected from my old one, with hopes of landing the 'big leagues'. So, uh... take me to your leader?"

IC: "Almost had one of them to bring back for interrogation too," Verulas said, adding his own two cents into the conversation. "But, hey; things happen."

He began following the Ko-Toa to hopefully also get his wounds healed, removing half of the jerky from the bag before tossing the rest towards the hungry-looking female De-Skakdi who he thought that he had caught eyeing him as he ate it. He shoved what remained in his mouth while he moved to help the Fa-Toa towards the healer as well, wondering if she had enough energy to fix all three of them up.

Huh... Some of Kimala's caring nature must've rubbed off on him.

Whatever.

OOC: Hope a sarcastic pessimist who extremely dislikes both Makuta and Mata Nui is allowed to crash that party you two seem to be starting... And since Verulas feels that he requires some backup sarcasm, Rekhyt's coming along too.

OOC: Zero, Transient, Charek, and Faora from Onu-Wahi

IC:

The going had been tough, to say the least. The slopes of Mount Ihu were treacherous, especially at night, and the group had had to stick close together, due to the sheer force of the wind. The snowflakes obscured their vision, and if not for the Su-Skakdi's well-paced gait, they would've likely been split up by the blizzard and been lost forever in the endless ocean of snowdrifts.

When white dawn finally arrived, a glimmer of warming relief on the horizon, Zero smiled genuinely. It wasn't often that she had the time to appreciate the simple moments of life. They came and went, like the sun did each day. After all, life was short-lived. When the moments revealed themselves, you acknowledged them.

Obsidian Outpost gleamed like a rare jewel as the four ice-encrusted beings approached it from the bottom of the slope. It was a new day. There was work to be done.

Zero's gaze shot back over her shoulder to regard her fellow travelers.

"Welcome home." she said, a hint of anticipation claiming her sharp features.

IC: Faora

Faora normally didn't mind the cold, but this was a bit much. She now understood the low regard with which some beings held Ko-Wahi. The constant whistle of the wind was a particular source of aggravation, as even her earmuffs did little to muffle the sound.

But morning was here, and according to Zero, they had arrived.

Faora allowed a shiver to travel down her spine. Whether it was from the cold or anticipation, she neither knew nor cared. She was more excited about this than, well, anything she could remember. She was going to get to do what she enjoyed most, and there was a possibility she would enjoy the company along the way.

IC: Revekk (Ko-Koro Streets)

The streets were almost deserted, the civilians had ventured inside, trying to find shelter against the storm. I had to move fast and see who I could find in the devastation to bring with me. The city itself was lost but the people could be saved.

My eye caught a door that looked like it'd been slammed shut in a hurry. I reached for the handle and heard a creak as I opened it. A small, sparsely lit and furnished room revealed itself before me, with no sign of the tenants anywhere.

Stepping into the house felt wrong, the deathly quiet aura just as treacherous as any yelp of pain would have been, if not more so. If there were anyone hiding inside, they were being extremely quiet and well hidden. I advanced through the room, navigating past overturned chairs and toppled tables, a scene that wasn't entirely unfamiliar thanks to my days in the Ussalry. Back then I had gladly taken an open assignment if it had allowed me time to clear my head.

Now, though, my head was anything but clear.

A door in the back was closed, but not locked, I found as I turned the handle and opened it... and found the tip of a pickaxe shoved into my face so close I could see the Great Spirit's symbol in its reflective surface.

"Get back" the Matoran threatened, waving the pickaxe in my face.

"Do not worry, I'm here to help" I tried to reassure the Matoran, but it seemed to only make him madder.

"I've got no reason to believe you're 'here to help', and your patronizing doesn't help your case" he argued.

The matoran was burly, with a stern, weatherbitten face and a contemptuous glare, but his hands were shaking as he was holding the pickaxe. He was still afraid, no matter how much he refused to show it.

"What will it take me to convince you that I won't hurt you?"

The Matoran seemed to honestly consider it, and looked at me long and hard before he finally said something.

"You're not a Toa, right? You're one of those Lesterin, aren't you."

Not a Toa

"No, no I'm technically not a Toa, but-"

"So take off your mask," the Matoran demanded, "let me get a look at your real face"

The silence that followed after was unbearable.

My arm seemed to twitch upwards, not guided by my own will, as the fingers slid in under the chin and slid the Mask off.

For a moment I looked at the Kanohi Hau in my hand, appearing as if it scowled back at me in disapproval. When I then looked at the Matoran's face, I saw caution and alarmity... but not disapproval.

"Alright," the Matoran eventually conceded, "I'm gonna take the chance and trust you on this. Now, if you want to help-" he strode past me and to another door, opening it to reveal another Matoran holding his arm in an awkward position.

"Then help me get him out of here and to a hospital"

At that, I nodded more sternly and walked towards the door again, as I heard from behind me the Matoran reassuring his friend.

"Alright, up you go, this Lesterin will help us out of here"

I gritted my teeth as I lead the way out of the hut, taking unusually erratic steps through the snow-covered, twisted streets.

IC: Dayeth.

"I prayed for the power to gain vengeance on those who wronged me, and Makuta answered my prayers," Dayeth boasted. Seeing Korero's unimpressed expression, she sighed.

"The Piraka Zaktan, down in Makuta's Vault. He gave me a vial of Makuta's antidermis, and I used it on myself. Impressive, is it not?"

IC (Korero)

The Toa of Air was silent for a moment, eyes narrowed slightly.

"Go," he said eventually. "Get out of here."
