OOCThis conspiracy isn't over yet; while the IIA plots and schemes away, Referon is undergoing brain surgery by the best people, erm, jellyfish in the galaxy. If they can get that to work out, then Referon will -presumably- be able to spill the beans on what's happening. Unless she is the beans. After all, spacing a failed experiment is standard procedure for the IIA, but they've remained hidden and in power for eighty years now; they aren't stupid enough to drop off an experiment right next to a space miner. Unless the operatives doing the job were just that stupid; probably a government project. But the whole get genetic samples thing will work if the Empire meeting, soon to be sent out and hosted by yours truly, works out and an era of tense peace breaks out. Of course, the Diemawr are pretty smart; I'm pretty sure the government won't want to do tourism with a possible enemy, but if both jellyfish do it there might be pressure for it.IC [Citamgine/Space Control]"Treanuan vessel, you have permission to dock at Starbase Honored Protector. IC: As you wish. May you prosper. The ship closed the transmission and docked at the station, while a Tsui'nau exited in a bubble, floating along. Surprisingly, it was unguarded, something that had thus far not been done. There was something odd about the alien- it seemed glittery, and insubstantial. However, that was probably an effect of the bubble.

Well, would you just look at that?

OOCOooo, maybe personal force field? Or hologram. Shield or hologram, one of the two.IC [Citamgine/Guards]The alien was greeted by two guards, in the 'dress' version of the Natsirt military uniform. Which was, of course, a space suit, though much more formal than the usual. They held the standard Natsirt battle rifle, and their helmets' visors were opaque to allow the alien to see their faces."We're here to escort you to the waiting room." One of them said simply. "It has been adjusted for your atmospheric requirements. This way, please."[Elsewhere]A comm signal was sent to all the known powers of Sector 2; the Alizarin, the Treanuans, the Syrrinx, and the Diemawr, though technically the latter two received the same message, and the Treanuans simply got a message saying their ambassador that was already there would be doing this. All the messages were simple; the Natsirt Star Empire wished to open negotiations on an alliance between all the various worlds, and it would all take place on the starbase over Citamgine. At the same time the Kalarii and Osailieli ambassadors were brought onto the starbase, while the message ended saying that if the Diemawr or Syrrinx had their doubts on the security, to remember that the Natsirt entrusted their safety to the Syrrinx and Diemawr, and that it'd be a simple curtsey for them to do the same.It also said that weapons would be allowed, but would have to be inspected by the Natsirt guards present.

IC [Citamgine/Guards]"The alliance negotiations will be first." The guard didn't know much about this, so he seriously hoping that the diplomat stopped asking him questions about the specifics.Meanwhile, in the lower decks, near the power generation plant, an engineer had just started his shift, picking up his morning coffee -the Natsirt equivalent, of course- and starting his day at a desk monitoring the output of the reactors. Reactor seven, he noted, was running at eighty six percent efficiency. A considerable power drop, though since the station wasn't doing anything serious it was unlikely anyone had noticed. Why hadn't the last shift told him about this? For that matter, where was the last shift? He knew the woman who worked down here; she always gave him a report when he logged onto his shift. Yet he hadn't seen her...He didn't have much more time to think about it, as a sharp pain came across his skull and he collapsed onto his panel, his coffee come being picked up and taken away.OOCTerrorists got to get their morning cup somehow, and if the opportunity shows up, why the **** not?

OOC: Courtesy, not curtsy. Bugger all, man, proofread some time.IC(Natsirt Message): The reply received from the Diemawr assured the Natsirt that the Diemawr would be attending the conference as they had attended the conference at Bivali Mun. Any amount of thoguht given to the odd phrasing of this confirmation would lead to the conclusion that a single Diemawr would be attending, in full exoskeleton.IC(Government): After the incident with Inherent Biologies, the Lord President and Grand Conclave had gone into an emergency meeting, debating what to do about the Syrrinx. It was the Lord President's firm belief that, above all else, the Empire must be made secure, and that the nebulous nature of Syrrinx corporations was the greatest obstacle to that goal. The Grand Conclave agreed with him, but many member were uneasy about making moves that might upset Syrrinx citizens of the Empire. Finally, after a lengthy, heated debate, the Conclave had drawn up a plan that meshed with the Lord President's goals.1. The Empire would buy out Inherent Biologies assets on the four Diemawr-controlled Syrrinx worlds, allowing the corporation to make a tidy profit without maintaining a presence in Diemawr space that was technically outside of Diemawr control. The plan for this step included enough flexibility to allow for any payment plans IB might request - the buyout of their assets in Imperial space was essential.2. A full buyout of Defiance Industries was listed as the next step, with provisions requiring the corporation to withdraw all of its assets to Diemawr space, and allowing for continued management of the corporation by its original Syrrinx owners - the main purpose of the buyout would be to contain Defiance within the Empire's borders, not wrest it from its proper owners.3. The next step in the plan called for the full purchase of the portion of Alata Mining Corporation operating within Diemawr territory, effectively splitting the corporation in two. This step was considered the least urgent, because of the alliance with the Alizarin, but was included because it would unquestionably improve security to some degree. With the plan agreed upon, the cogs of government began to turn, setting the plan into motion - all three corporations would be contacted shortly, with the details of their part in the proposed plan. As always, the Diemawr Empire had two options available to them for ensuring the success of the plan - the carrot and the stick, so to speak - and, while the possibility of the military being called in to enforce the wishes of the Grand Conclave should the purchases fall through went unspoken, the representatives of the corporations had to be very aware of the possibility - indeed, only Alata would be given even the merest suggestion that the use of military force was not a likelihood should they refuse the -by even Syrrinx terms, rather generous - purchase offer.OOC: Let's put it this way - the money required for the purchases will set the Diemawr back by one industry point for a week should the purchases happen.

IC:"We'd be insulted if there weren't." The pilot responded as the ship began spiraling into the atmosphere. When the ship touched down, fusion drive flaring and landing jacks extending, a group of eight Syrrinx departed the ship to meet the Natsirt. One hung a ceremonial sword from his waist, but unlike most alien contact with the Syrrinx up to now, the Syrrinx appeared not in armor but in formal business clothing; tight fitting tunics and pants.

IC [Citamgine/Guards]They reached the room, where the trio entered an airlock. After the pressurization and water being let in, the Treanuan was escorted into the waiting room, which while not perfect, was good for a quick job, with a couple cradles the Alizarin liked to use set up. A diplomat was waiting, the guards leaving while the diplomat stood up. Magnetic boots were great for walking underwater."I'm Iyna Til'yn; I'll be one of the diplomats negotiating the impending treaty and possibly alliance between your people and the other species of the sector." She gave the Treanuan a pad. The executive said, motioning towards a plane further down the runway.

OOC: Well, I would say Defiance is getting the best offer - they keep running all of their stuff, get a sizable sum of money from the Diemawr, and all they have to do is abandon their operations on one planet (leaving behind any facilities for the Alizarin to take over, should they choose to do so). Alata isn't getting a bad offer, precisely, but they have the least to lose by refusing. The rest of them, though - the ones owned solely by either Treanuans or Alizarin - would be getting paid off to pack up and shove off out of 4 out of 5 of their species' home planets. The biggest incentive to accept is the fact that the military will come in and pack up their stuff for them if they refuse.

IC [Citamgine/DI]The plane had some of it's seats adjusted for Syrrinx purposes, the guards pulling in the doors as the plane began to turn and head down the runway. It could of gone VTOL, but there was no where hurry. As the plane took off, the executive sat down in front of the Syrrinx, pulling out a pad and reviewing it."I don't believe the specifics were ever asked, but does your group represent a number of Syrrinx corporations, or simply Annihilation?" The answer would be extremely crucial in the negotiations.[Citamgine/Til'yn]"Good; hopefully, the other species who inhabit your sector of space will share your opinion as well."

IC: With the Bringer of Sight to the Sightless away exploring sectors unknown, the Icterine Irregular Orbit of the Perpetual Questions had been packed off from Ultramarine to the meeting at Citamgine. Even now the ambassadors were scuttling forwards in one of the family-sized aquariums they used for mass-transport in meetings like thisIC(2-5): The physicians connected the data-pad to their own systems, which projected a three-dimensional life-size holographic image into the water displaying the Natsirt brain."Since the memories you desire access to are locked in a fugue state, we need to bypass the trauma. A simple matter as memories are merely electrical and chemical impulses stored in the brain."Having so many optical sensors meant the Alizarin physicians could keep an eye on the holographic display while simultaneously carrying out the operation. And as for the benefits of having so many tentacles...One had a tool fit snugly on the end of a tendril, a tool ending in a blade. With a simple flash of a specific colour the tool activated, beginning to glow white hot. The same Alizarin with a pair of other tentacles, applied a powerful anaesthetic. Referon would probably be needing it.Boiling hot tools was really the only way to keep things sterile. Cauterised wounds so no fluids could leek into the water, and kept the water around the tool clean by burning away impurities. The scalpel was so hot it barely hot the touch the unconscious Referon to sear through scale and bone. Once the trepanning was complete and a square patch of her brain was exposed, a pair of Alizarin began attaching wires and probes. The cables attached to a machine off to the side."We are simply relocating the trapped memories from her head into the box," a currently unoccupied physician explained, "We don't even need to drain her whole memory and sift through them individually, we just need to look for the unused neurones that indicate suppression."It did not take long for the process to be complete and the Alizarin began sealing Referon's head back together. They'd let her sleep it off.OOC: A few updates I think. Cobalt is now Self-Sustaining and the second Cyan on Silver-Celeste is complete

IC [Citamgine/DI]"Very well. I understand that the Empire has rejected your antimatter production on the grounds of not being practical enough. Daj Industries agrees with that partly; for starships or the like, we feel antimatter is simply not a worthwhile pursuit with the massive quantities of refined hydrogen and helium mined from our gas giants. We do, however, feel antimatter would be suited rather well for land based power production. While we have complete control over New Llaf's power supply, having been the main funds behind the project to unlock the energy in it's atmosphere, Citamgine and New Lleh still have sixty percent of the power grid locked away from us. If we could use antimatter we would have a viable source to use to gain an upper hand in the energy war."What the man didn't mention, of course, is that once that edge had been gained and Daj Industries absorb or bought out the other power companies in their weakened state, there'd be no more need for antimatter, as DI would control the entire power grid. Once the absorption of the power grid was complete, antimatter -at least for land based power generation- would no longer be needed."We also wish to gain antimatter for our mining division, who uses primarily mass drivers to launch refined metals into orbit where transports can take them away. Quick bursts of energy for them is a must, and antimatter provides that."[2-5/Doctor]The doctor had watched it all with mixed feelings, and when the Alizarin were done strapped a rebreather around her face, allowing a more complex machine to filter the oxygen out of the water while she slept. He didn't want to move her until he was certain she could manage it.

IC [Citamgine/Control]The response was that it had, indeed, been invited and to dock at Honored Protector, where the meeting would be taking place. As always there was a warning about atmospheric conditions, given as 72 percent nitrogen, 28 percent oxygen, with a near impossible to measure variance of other gases. Also, the relative humidity was thirty percent. Upon completing the transmission the communications officer shut his console off, his replacement shift arriving. Giving a nod, the comm officer walked out the compartment, while the commander of the station, Lead Overseer Til'in, did his patrol around the command center. Stopping at the engineering station, he looked at the monitors then scowled."There's almost a thirty percent drop in a reactor." He glared down at the officer. "Why haven't I been informed of this?""I asked engineering sir, they replied saying that it was a malfunction and that the reactor was perfectly fine.""And you haven't gotten a repair team up here yet? A malfunctioning console is a danger to everyone; if it gives you a false reading at the wrong time, it could destroy the entire station. Get it fixed lieutenant. We have highly sensitive guests on board and if something goes wrong, it'll be on your head."With those words of encouragement the Overseer continued on his way, leaving a frightened engineering officer behind.[Elsewhere]A vessel docked with the starbase, a procession walking out. Eleven guards, three aides, and an order to have all the halls cleared that were in the way. A Diemawr ship is what happens when that person who complains about hinges on handheld gaming devices and laptops breaking too easily gets an engineering degree. Clunky, overarmored, and, above all, not designed to be compatible with much of anything except the builder's inherent desire to one day see the ship scuttled in one rusty, hideous piece. This leads to awkward moments when attempting to dock a Diemawr vessel onto anything that wasn't made by a Diemawr, as they tend to be shaped rather like ill-willed bricks, and dock with the same amount of grace.Nonetheless, after a certain amount of fumbling, improvising, and cursing of engineers, the ship managed to dock, and the single member of its crew opened the hatch to see what sort of mad greeting he'd receive this time.

Senate keeps the Presidents in check, the Congress keeps the Ministers in check, the People's Court keeps the Senate and Congress in check, and the Comittees keep each other in check and don't actually do anything.IC [Citamgine/Delegate]The Natsirt, being a people of semi-elegance and smooth docking, where split on the matter. The Diemawr was greeted with a smiling diplomat and two guards who had absolutely no idea what had just gone on, all while the control decks and at least thirty seven engineers cursed the Diemawr name with various profanities that would probably cause a few fights."This way, please."OOCAnd now, for a brief time skip!IC [Conference!/First President]The alien delegates were gathered in a rather large and long meeting room, with plenty of room for the Alizarin tanks. Representatives from the Kalarii and Osailieli were present, and apparently someone had decided that since the Syrrinx were no longer a sovereign government the meeting might as well begin without them. At one end of the long table that dominated the room, the First President and his staff sat, a loud beeping sound starting the meeting."First off," the President began, "I'd like to thank all of you for coming. I understand that peace is not easily come by, not after the Confederation's assault of the Alizarin. Today the Natsirt people wish to make up for the mistakes of the past; we are proposing an alliance, between the Trilateral Alliance of Planets and the Pactum Quntium."OOCI probably spelled it wrong but I am not spending an hour digging up the proper spelling.

"In short, my English Lit friend, living in a mental world of absolute rights and wrongs, may be imagining that because all theories are wrong, the earth may be thought spherical now, but cubical next century, and a hollow icosahedron the next, and a doughnut shape the one after." -Isaac Asimov, responding to a letter he had received saying that scientific certainty was false, The Relativity of Wrong

OOC: Its Pactum Quintum, which probably doesn't mean Pact of Five but at least sounds like it should. And only I've bothered calling it that anyway you lazy so-and-sos :PIC: "Tri-lateral indicates three," one of the Alizarin deduced, "You are one of them, we are aware that the...Thernians, yes?...were unfortunately eliminated. Which of the other races present was the third member?"IC: The freshly finished Alizarin coloniser was sent out to claim one of the original systems allocated to them, 2-2. Newly oceanic and with a lone Alizarin city floating in its waters, Skobeloff became the newest in the ever-expanding Alizarin territories, though not the last if yet another coloniser at 2-5 would suggestOOC: I'm running out of blue-greens, I'm really going to have to find a new shade to be the pre-colour...
