"Toa Leah, do you have your mask ready? I want to start with the Vortixx."

"Always." she replied, taking up position behind Hahli to the right. She looked at the Vortixx in the cell and concentrated on her masks power. It was constantly showing her the auras of the beings around her, but when focused, she could single out an individual. In this case, the Vortixx. The inmate's aura was slightly shifting, blue with a hint of green and yellow.

IC- Verak - Ga-Koro Prison

“Alcohol?” I laughed, “My preferred drug is adrenaline, thank you very much. And I will be helping myself to it during my inevitable escape.”
Leah pulled me out the door and I waved cheerfully at Hahli. “See ya, sister! Good luck with the paperwork!”
If this toa had been anyone other than Leah, I would have tried, maybe succeeded, in breaking free and escaping, but this was the most powerful Toa of water on the island, and I was in a village floating upon copious amounts of her element, so escape at the moment was a futile prospect. To much wetness to even make the attempt worthwhile. I was still shaking out water that had gotten into nooks and crannies I didn’t even know I had.
So I soon found myself in a claustrophobic prison block, listening to the sounds of the oppressive ocean water pushing in on our cell. Already I was formulating a plan for escape, but I quickly put it on hold when I realized Hahli had followed me down here. She, Leah, and two other marines were discussing the assassination attempt that I had just witnessed.
Wow. All the action in this Koro was following me. Told you this was a good escape attempt.
I rested my forearms on the bars casually and listened in on Hahli’s interrogation, a sarcastic quip already on the tip of my tongue.

IC: VoutokVoutok had humbly bowed when the Toa and Akiri entered the cell block, though in his mind Voutok was still kind of annoyed at Leah for basically yoinking his attempt to take down Verak earlier. Oh well, at least he ended up behind bars and he was able to catch a Vortixx arms dealer as well. As the Toa began using her mask power (Voutok had heard from town rumors that it enabled her to tell the intentions of anyone), Voutok made a quick comment."If I might interject, this Vortixx also caused some minor structural damage to a lily pad with a sort of plasma canon that he claims is "Xian", whatever that means. Corporal Suran" Voutok geastured towards the Lesterin "can show that to you if you would like. And I should also point out this individual lied multiple times before and during his attempt to resist arrest. Carry on."

"Wrong."

"This Le-Koran conspiracy, with Kongu at the helm. Tell me about it. Tell me about him," Hahli requested, twitching her head towards where the drunk Le-Matoran was being incarcerated. "Tell me everything. Leave nothing out, or I'll know."

IC: Strakolix

"Who told you about that?" asked Strakolix. While he looked calm and collected, he was really quite frightened at this point. "And how will you know? Well, anyways I'll start by telling you about Kongu. Well, he used to be leader of the Gukko Force, he's now the Akiri of Le-Koro. He's quite serious and he once went on a mission to save Turaga Matau and a member of the Chronicler's Company, Taipu. Takua was his second during this mission. But you knew all of that didn't you? Could you please be a little more specific and less broad? Also, it may please you to know that until very recently, I didn't realize that drunk Matoran over there was supposed to kill you." Strakolix took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He had nothing to fear. After all, everything he had just said was completely true."

"I heard you talking about said conspiracy. Don't act surprised. Everything that goes on in these prisons is my common knowledge," Hahli replied dully. "Tell me about how this conspiracy started, and how you became involved."

Hahli waited for the reply, and for Leah's subsequent polygraph exam.

Strakolix grew a little bit pale. "Okay. Well, you see I used to be a mercenary." This was true. "I later quit being a mercenary for...reasons that aren't releveant right now." Also true. "But some people didn't realize I had retired." Still true. "So, okay, now please don't punish me for revealing the truth or tell Kongu. But, Kongu hired me to be a distraction. He refused to tell me what for." he said shakily with genuine fear. "I created a big disturbance that was quite distracting. I then heard that this Le-Matoran tried to kill you. I was shocked. Well, 2+2=4, right?" finished Strakolix truthfully, and still afraid.

He looked over all of them, taking the darkest shade of black he could find. At least it was the right color, if it couldn't be his own feathers covering him. He turned towards Cadias with an almost bored look as the Toa happily commented on his pockets. Vrana couldn't care less about pockets.

"Leah?"

"A lot of yellow, a good bit of orange," the Toa Maru reported, and Hahli smirked, leaning forward predatorily to observe the Vortixx. The crook looked like he was about to wet himself, and it was plainly obvious something here wasn't quite kosher. In fact, it was totally sketchy. Voutok behind her seemed to agree. Her smirk grew wider as he let loose a bit of snark and then she met Strakolix's eyes with her own wide, expressive yellow orbs.

"You know what the penalty for lying to an Akiri and to the military is? It's called obstruction of justice in matters of Koro security. You could spend years in here if you get caught and you get the wrong jury. You know what the penalty is for conspiracy to murder an Akiri? It's called treason. You'll be tied to the docks and you'll hover there until either all the blood flows to your head and you get permanent brain damage, followed by death. And that's if high tide doesn't drown you in the days before the brain damage starts. It's a capital crime, Vortixx. And it's punishable by death. So if you ever want to taste fresh air again, you'll give me straight and true answers, because I'm done letting this village get lied to by crooks who are only playing the game so they can get something out of it. Capiche?"

IC: Suran

The Lesterin put a hand on Voutok's shoulder. "The Akiri can handle it, Voutok," he whispered. It was easy for him to say. He had years of experience and meditation to fuel his patience, but he knew their input would be unnecessary.

It was hard for even him not to laugh, though. The Vortixx would have been off so much better if he had told the truth and accepted his crimes. Contraband and structural damage? Two months and a fine, most likely.

"But because of me, you were nowhere near the Akiri when this happened, were you?" said Stakolix to Voutok. "I didn't know that he was going to try to kill you!" said the Vortixx fervently and truthfully. "But from the joy that cruel punishment brings to your eyes, maybe you deserve death."

IC: VoutokThe De-Matoran Marine interjected to the Vortixx's first statement directed at him "Because my patrol went about an entirely different sector of the Koro. I would have been nowhere near the Akiri's hut to begin with."Finally heeding Suran's words, Voutok sighed, shook his head, and watched the events unfold as the Vortixx continued his obvious spewing of lies of omission at the least.

Hahli looked pensive at that remark from the Vortixx, despite Leah's audible sharp intake of breath and the stiffening of all Marines in the room. The Ga-Matoran didn't turn around at the reactions, nor did she break contact with the cowardly scumbucket sitting in the cell in front of her.

"You know, not too long ago, everyone in this room would have agreed with you," she admitted. "But a lot of really, really bad people came through this Koro lately. They shined themselves up, made themselves look pretty and suave and all destined like, and then they grew. Like weeds. And they sucked away the faith and the love and the trust that we gave them like nutrients, and when that wasn't enough sustenance they killed the closest thing I ever had - that any of us ever had - to a mother. I stood outside the hut with a blade to my throat and I listened to her sizzle as she burned away into a stain on her own hut floor. And then they tried to kill me."

"So you know what I did? I ran, really hard, and where I ran I cried, until I didn't have the energy in my body or the salt in my eyes to run or cry any more. When I couldn't move, I dug, and I hunkered down in the woods and I lived in little potholes in the ground and ate plants like a Rahi for a month and a half. All the while, I stared out at my home in the distance and I watched while these people took my home in their hand and tried to corrode it away. When they finally disappeared, everything was...broken. Rusted up and chipped away and not worth more than a trinket on the clearance rack at the ninety-nine widget store. So we rebuilt it, from the ground up, and it's finally a home again. And I will not - will not - allow anything to happen to this Koro or the people who live here again. Not as long as these little Matoran lungs have the energy to spit in the face of you, and what your cowardice stands for. Marine Suran."

"Yes, Akiri?"

"It's clear to me that this Vortixx has nothing viable which we can use in a court of law, or which we can contest on a battlefield with Le-Koro," she announced. "His trial for crimes already committed is scheduled for ninety days from now. In the meantime, let him rot."

"You mean you won't be feeding me? There's no need for a trial. I'll starve! But regardless of your reasoning, you have proved at least part of my point. You're an altruist. The ends justify the means. You would do to me something just as bad as what was done to you 'for the greater good.' What makes you any different from your enemies?"

IC(Daylaria-Prison)Daylaria stood to the back, arms crossed, staring at the criminal. There were way too many of these people in her village. Straight-up cowards with nothing to fall back on. They were spineless, and that meant they would never stop squirming. She admired the fierceness she saw in Hahli. It was one of the few remaining factors that kept the Koro together. "You are the root that keeps this village afloat, old friend..." As Suran was escorting the criminal out, some were just realizing Daylaria was there. "May I suggest..."

"...that we make an non-lethal example of the Vortixx? A display of the law and how it is to be upheld in these new times?"

He turned, looking inwards towards the island that spread out for as far as the eye could see. There were many places on the island, any one of them could prove a whole new realm of exploration. There were six villages, but the lands between held many places that could be as wondrous and beautiful as the coast of Ga-Wahi. There was a large world out there that just awaited exploration.

But something stopped him in his thoughts, something leading him towards an even better location. The forest of Le-Wahi were filled with one thing that he eager wanted, after the very lacking meal he had just consumed. They were filled with fruit, delicious fruit of many types. It was one of few things he could stand eating, and his hunger told him that was where he needed to go.

OOC: There are guards at the entrance, and after what happened, they'll definitely do a search of your belongings before you exit or enter. Sorry, them's the breaks.

The old Marine smiled as Voutok left. The young Matoran had enthusiasm, but lacked in patience. Not every Private rose to Corporal, otherwise the title would mean nothing. Suran himself had been a Marine for almost 75 years.

"This is only torture if you think of it as such. Its purpose is to serve as a lesson, both to you and your ilk." He settled in a seat in the center of the aisle, facing the entrance, "Make the most of what you get, and reflect on what landed you here."

OOC: Do not make a character simply to break him out. Characters need a story in order to develop, and you will not rise in the RPG if you use them purely as tools. You're free to try and break him out, but do not expect to be met with success. This is the most well-guarded place in the Koro, and the NPCs are trained to deal with riots and breakouts. I advise you put him on a bus (essentially forget about him) and create a new character instead. Or you could hang on to him and have the odd chat with the guards, or Verak. I think they'll get along!
