The Prime Suspect

Based off the titles, it's becoming increasingly obvious what the Pokemon of the Week are, isn't it? tongue.gif

Whatever. Anyway, today the PotW is . . . can you guess? Possibly. If not, just read on. It's Primeape!

While dwelling in the UU tier, Primeape has a few things going for it. In addition to having the highest Speed for a Fighting type (other than Infernape), Primeape also has the wonderful ability Anger Point when gives Primeape +6 Attack, the equivalent of a Belly Drum without health loss, when hit by a Critical Hit. It also learns several good moves such as Stone Edge, Close Combat, etc.

Primape @ Leftovers
Jolly Nature
32 HP / 224 Atk / 252 Spe
~ Substitute
~ Close Combat
~ Stone Edge
~ Taunt

You'll want Anger Point for this. Basically, Substitute as many times as you can. Leftovers will grant you five Substitutes, as long as there is nothing else to harm you. Hail/Sand Stream and entry hazards aren't good, so clear the skies and Rapid Spin before bringing this fellow out. Anyway, you have a 27.58% chance of activating Anger Point on the five Subs. Then, proceed to sweep with monsterous Attack. If you fail to get the Anger Point boost, Wish support can heal Primape to try again, if you want. Alternately, you can Baton Pass Primape an Ingrain to allow more Substitutes.

Primeape @ Focus Sash
Hasty Nature
6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
~ Counter
~ Reversal
~ Meditate
~ Punishment

Avoid the above mentioned hazards at all costs, using the above mentioned methods. Anyway, use Meditate on a switch, Counter a physical attack, then swep with Reversal. It doesn't get much simpler. Punishment is for those pesky Ghosts, BTW. Oh, and you should avoid Special Pokemon coming in, as you can't Counter on them.

Ballom's Rating: 4/5. He has a few things going, but is totally outclassed in OU by his nemesis Infernape.

Hmm, I never liked Primeape.

Interesting review, though.

Why don't you like him? He's actually kinda neat, and Mankey is useful early on in FireRed/LefGreen.

Although I prefer Machop myself . . .

...mmm, I've always liked Machamp more... and now it has No Guard (meaning 100% accuracy Dynamicpunch), so... Machamp FTW! Primeape is pretty neat, though.

Yeah, being the second-fastest Fighting type works in his favor, and Primeape can be scary with Anger Point. Like Tauros.

I always thought Heracross was the better version of Primeape. Hmm....

I do like it. Monkeys FTW. Lol.

How so? It has more Attack but less Speed, has Guts instead of Primeape's two abilities, and is part Bug?

But yeah, monkey Pokemon are usually cool. Especially Ambipom. Even Slaking isn't too bad (although it's an ape, not a monkey).
